Airforce, Army, Navy, Marines. By popular, I mean most chosen.

Most of the French military's personnel may be found in the Army by necessity, though the Navy is also quite popular, and the Air Force does not want for pilots much.

Within the French Army, the most popular, well known units are the Airborne Regiments, and the Foreign Legion. For a French national to join the Legion, they must be commissioned officers.

The infantry is the most popular service, as it is what perpetrators of heinous crimes such as rape and murder and poaching are offered as an alternative to the gallows. If the ruling is decided in a coastal area of Oterro, it is not uncommon for the judge to allow the criminal to join the navy, however. The infantry has the largest amount of men though. Although, to be fair, the public despises the infantry. The silly peasants see their heroes and defenders as opressors, ungrateful cads. They hold a much higher opinion of the more dashing cavalryman.

The fighter wings in the air force are some of the most sought after positions in the Licanan Military. However, the qualifications and expectations of the Air Force, as well as the lack of positions, ensures that many of the candidates will never enter a Licanan Fighter.

The most renowned and well known unit is the 13th Naval Fighter Squadron, known as Griseus. Usually stationed on the Licana Navy's First Fleet, Griseus is made up of the best of the best in terms of Licanan fighter pilots.

Generally, most of the recruits entering the Licanan Military enter into various infantry or mechanized infantry divisions in the Army.

The Maltropian Royal Navy is considered one of the finest in the world. With intense training regimens and a long tradition of prestige and glory, it is looked on as one of the best possible employments. As such, huge numbers of recruits sign up, and there has been no need for drafting or conscription in over 200 years.

The armoured' seem very popular. And the airmobiles as well.

But the latter is mostly because of videos like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOaGgY2y ... re=related

The navy is the least popular. What did you expect, they only get to sit on a tiny cramped smelly iron shoebox, in the middle of the ocean, doing nothing but maintenence work...

The Home Guard, a designation given at any time to any militia column on active home defense duty, which during peace doubles as a time for the column to engage in community service, outreach, and infrastructure development along with their training and war games.
Confederation of participatory-democratic autonomous municipalities. Market socialist economy, some cantons practicing participatory economics. Environmentally sustainable economy. Enormous civil liberties. Nuclear-armed and missile defense equipped, to protect our autonomy.

He never said that. This thread is about the popularity of units, not their size. Just because it is popular, that does not mean all applicants will be accepted.
