SA-02 Light, Air Mobile Self-Propelled Howitzer

Artillery used by the Samozniy Army consists largely of infantry mortars and howitzers, with some anti-tank guns. Anti-aircraft weapons, guns and missiles, are incorporated into the Samozniy Artillery Corps. With small exception, they're all manufactured by Samozniy Military Industries.

Typically used (field and infantry artillery - AA and AT may come later, if I can be bothered):

The CSW-2-X (Crew-served Support Weapon, 2, eXplosive)"Schreck" is a mortar designed to be deployed at 'squad' level and is generally issued in a ratio of one in every 5 or 6 combat infantry. Its low calibre munition (2-inch) allows for fire support at ranges greater than a grenade launcher and for less collateral damage or Danger Close than offered by a rocket launcher. Designed to be operated by a crew of two men, it is easily possible to operate it single-handedly. A version designed from the up to be operated by a single soldier is under development. Spetsnaz are issued the weapon in a 1:1 ratio, forming two-man teams.

The "Decker" is a mortar designed to be deployed at platoon level, in standard Samozniy platoons of 60 men. The 3" weapon allows for greater range and firepower than its 2" counterpart, and is generally operated with a standard crew of three. Between the lightweight 2" Schreck and the heavier 4.5" Pounder mortar, the Decker is the key mid-role mortar.

The "Pounder" heavy mortar fires a 114.3mm shell over great ranges. This is designed to be deployed at the company level, in purpose-built firepits and assault bases. The heavy weight prevents the rapid mobility offered by the Decker and especially the Schreck, limiting the Pounder's operation to typically suppression tactics.

The "Earthmover" is an incredibly heavy support weapon. Firing 100kg 8 inch shells (203.4mm) at a maximum crew-operated rate of fire of just 4 rounds per minute, its doctrine is certainly a case of quality over quantity. It is so heavy, in fact, that it can be equipped with an autoloading mechanism fed over a trail leg that automatically lowers the barrel, ejects the propellant casings, inserts a new round, closes the breech and re-raises the barrel automatically. In continuous fire, this can raise the rate of fire to as high as 10 or 12 rounds per minute, and reduce the crew from its normal of 7 to just 3 or 4. A custom-built autoloader is under development that aims to raise rate of fire to more than 20rpm, by having the autoloader match the weapon's angle, thus removing resetting barrel elevation from the process.

The CSW-13-X field artillery piece is based off of a Russian weapon of 130mm calibre, but a modernisation of the system by Samozniy Military Industries increased the calibre to the 'standard light intermediate artillery calibre' of 132mm and drastically improved the characteristics of the weapon. Its mount makes it easy to convert for role aboard ships, AFVs and even aircraft such as the An-A70, a counterpart to the AC-130.
