What military type are you?

Postby Charvah » Mon Jan 10, 2011 4:38 pm

That's the question! What type of miltary are you?

Charvah is a Modern army, that uses WWII Soviet Tactics. We aren't the most special military in the world, more of just one of those angry crabs on the beach that sits on your towel. When you sit down, we'll pinch you on the butt before being tossed into the waves.

Inutoland is a modern-type military, with some peculiarities (atlatl-thrown javelin grenades, armoured hovercraft, giant ground sloth pack artillery, weird stuff like that).

A modern military, but one that relies on good ol' fashioned combat.

Modern-ish. Think Mongol Horde, only instead of horses it's motorcycles, and instead of swords and bows, it's bats and sub-machine guns.

The only problem Charvah has with it's military, is it's constant "Human/Bomber Wave" tactics. During the 2 Month War (A war between the Communist East and the Capitalist West, West Won), 987,000 Lives were lost on the West, while only 123,000 for the East. Most of the West's casualties were from ridiculous charges over hills into the barrels of Eastern machine guns. However, with the advent of heat-seeking missiles and grenade launchers, Eastern positions were easily overrun. Later, massive squadrons of Q-9000 Heavy Level Bombers numbering in the hundreds would plaster the battlefield with tons upon tons of Napalm (mind you, Charvah is a Tropical Island. Napalm is ridiculously effective)

Near future......75 years to be exact. In our little universe tech hasn't advanced too far past the current era, mostly due to a prolonged worldwide depression and years of international war and civil war. So if a weapon or tech exists today it's probably still used in 2086 plus some more advanced stuff.

Charvah is a Modern army, that uses WWII Soviet Tactics.

I warn you. The Soviets used full frontal assaults with bayonets on heavily fortified German bunkers, and suffered roughly 5000 casualties (dead or wounded) daily until they changed tactics for the better in 1943. In the end they suffered 340% more casualties than the US and UK combined, with 14,000,000 USSR casualties vs. 292,000 US and 137,000 UK. And I'm sure the immediate response is "But they fought over an area five times as big as what the Americans did", which at first glance sounds appropriate, is actually untrue. If you do the math, and measure the square miles of Eastern Europe and Manchuria vs France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Tunisia, Libya (I exclude Algeria because we did like no fighting there), Italy, the pacific islands, and Burma, the area the Soviets fought on was actually less than that of the other allies.

That's why we only fight wars on our soil. The citezins know the area, and our soldiers know it even more. Foreign wars shall only be fought if it involves more than 3 allies or if it's just a raiding party (I.E: Assaulting a Nuclear Launching Site).

What little military we have are all high-powered robots that can each level a small town on its own, assuming the standard model. Needless to say, we have a future military.

We've had centuries to develop it, and quite a few nations have tried to take over before. With our low manpower, we can't waste people on the military, so it has been a priority.

PMT, fairly small army (relative to nation size), but very highly trained and well equipped. Large, well equipped navy and fleet air arm. Medium sized, well equipped air force.
