The Lancovian Orthodox Church

Postby Lancov » Mon Jan 10, 2011 1:02 pm

The Lancovian Orthodox Church has stood for over 1000 years as the prime spiritual guide for the Lancovian people, and many other nations as well. The Church, by the grace of God, is seeking to enter Full Communion (OOC: joint recognition of each other's authority and independence) with other Eastern Orthodox churches so that all of Eastern Orthodoxy may work toward greater unity through cooperation and dialogue, without following one sole and absolute leader.

Also, the Church wishes to find it's wayward flock in the Lancovian diaspora spread throughout the world. Too long have many followers of Lancovian Orthodoxy been without the guidance of their church, though until recently Church governance has been stubbornly unwilling to extend it's mission into other nations. As the new Patriarch, I wish to correct that by sending sending clergy, and by building churches, schools and maybe even hospitals. Therefore, we wish to know how many citizens of the world identify themselves as Lancovian Orthodox, so we may set up the necessary parishes, with permission of course. All costs will be paid for by the Lancovian Orthodox Church, though we would like to hire local labor for the construction itself. Clergy shall be trained in Lancov, unless we are given permission to open a seminary within your nation.

Donations are also acceptable, but are never solicited from governmental organizations. The Church believes strongly that Church and State should operate independently of one another, within reason.

May God continue to bless your nation and people.

His Eminence Bishop Andri Reginikoff has volunteered to advise His Holiness Metropolitan Patrick in building the OCNA. He has presided over Western Rite churches in Lancov and will hopefully be a useful adviser to Metropolitan Philip. Our prayers are with your church.

His Holiness the Archbishop of Toltsky, Metropolitan of Vostroya and Kolzgrad, Vostrian Patriarch Danijel Jovanović on behalf of the Holy Assembly of Bishops and of the Holy Synod wishes to send our congratulations and blessings to Lancov and to the Church. The Vostrian Church is one of the oldest slavic orthodox churches in the world and so we would be honoured to assist you in many ways.

We understand that differences arise but that we share a common goal, to bring peace to the world and to bring God to the people. We are his messengers and together we may prosper. We know that many Vostrians and followers of Vostrian Orthodox teachings currently reside within your humble nation and vice versa. We therefore have allowed the Lancov Church to enter Vostria but with strict rules and regulations.

Unlike your Church, ours operates with the State to create harmony and peace within Vostria. The restriction is that you only build Churchs in Lancov districts of Vostria and that you name them appropiatly. Our nation is littered with abbeys, cathederals, churchs and monastries of all kind and nature and we believe that opening our state up more to other religions will create better relations with all.

We serve the Almighty, we serve one another.

I think I may have misspoken. It is true that neither State nor Church have control over each other within Lancov, but we do not retreat to opposite corners of the room and eye one another suspiciously, as we so often did in the past. Rather we stand together in the room and converse with one another as longtime friends. The State recognizes the spiritual importance we play for 200 million people worldwide, including 189 million within Lancov itself, while we recognize that Lancov is made up of many faiths beside Christianity, and the State must accommodate them all. We both operate with an unspoken memorandum of understanding, of cooperation but not control or influence.

I am glad that there are many Vostrian parishes in Lancov. Though the names of our churches and the language may be different, the brotherhood of Eastern Orthodoxy is stronger by far.

What is the difference between the Lancovian church and other Orthodox churches (other than the nation that it is located in)?

We speak Lancovian. We also ordain women to the priesthood, but besides that nothing much.

A religious census shows that 1 700 people consider themselves followers of the The Lancovian Orthodox Church, they are divided between two churches and basically all lives in the capital, Cairlinn.
