Name of Nation: The Armed Republic of Alexiandra

Military Branches and Roles: The People's Army, The People's Navy, The People's Airforce, and The People's Intelligence Agency
Regular Ground Forces: The People's Army, along with contingents from The People's Navy
Small Arms Used: AR-19 (modified derivative of the M16), Lyran Hellhammer, G18, other Alexiandran systems
Body Armor Used: Standard Alexiandran kevlar jackets and ballistic helmets
Infantry Support Weapons Used: AR-170 light machine gun, M249 SAW, M-8 80mm mortar
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: SMAW, Javelin, RPG variants
APCs/IFVs Used: Modified M2 Bradley, Puma
Tanks Used: VMK Panthera Tigris, Panthera Leo, M1A3 Abrams
Artillery Used: Archer 155mm, Lyran Hellion cruise missiles, L118 Light Gun, others
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Upon applying for the People's Army, recruits are medically examined before partaking in a basic fitness test. Those who pass the test are then combat-trained for up to nine months before being deployed to the field. Only applicants with more than five basic Alexiandran Educational Awards (AEAs) are accepted into the Army.
Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine: Alexiandran doctrine revolves around the principle of fluid defence using superior technology and firepower. Ground forces enjoy a great deal of fire support from networks of artillery emplacements and even naval bombardments when on the defensive. Instead of concentrating forces in one area, however, Alexiandran commanders tend to delay hostile advances using elite, camouflaged anti-tank teams and air support.
Brief Summary of Military Culture: Members of the armed forces in Alexiandra are generally very well-respected within the civilian world. Troops are regularly praised and rewarded for acts of heroism, with some members of the armed forces even being awarded honourary titles such as "Hero of the Republic".
Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): Officers undergo more training than their regular infantry counterparts, and so they are expected to operate at a very high standard. Officers are trained to remain cool under fire, and to maintain an awareness of both friendly and enemy positions on the battlefield.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities): Commissioned officers are responsible for drawing up casualty predictions and planning both offensive and defensive operations. They are well-trained in the principles of warfare, and are expected to minimise casualties. When necessary, officers are usually prepared to sacrifice men if the situation requires it - in this sense, they are somewhat detached from their men.
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: The Army and Marines enjoy a relatively secure supply network, thanks to the power of the Republic's navy. Troops are supplied via all available avenues during combat, including by air and sea.
Personnel: 15,000,000
Combat Personnel: 5,000,000

Air Forces

Fighter Aircraft Used: F-22 Raptor, Illusion Multirole Fighter, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18 Hornet, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, some Alexiandran designs
Strategic Bombers Used: B-2 Spirit, B-1B Lancer, B-52 Stratofortress, other Alexiandran designs

Number of Frigates: 40
Number of Destroyers: 224
Number of Cruisers: 80
Number of Aircraft Carriers: 36
Number of Amphibious Assault Ships: 33
Number of Submarines: 261
Personnel: 1,563,840 (roughly)

Paramilitary Groups(Note: This would cover Militias as well as special warrior groups)

Stated Purpose of Paramilitary Group(s): To cause dissent in occupied areas and foment rebellion in hostile nations
Small Arms Used: AKM, G18
Body Armor Used: None
Infantry Support Weapons Used: M249 SAW, M240B
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: RPG variants
Vehicles Used: Light jeeps, submersible infiltration vehicles, Blackhawk helicopters
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Paramilitary operatives are recruited from the Paratrooper and Special Forces regiments of the Republic's Army. They are trained for over two years in a multitude of field techniques.
Brief Summary of Standard Doctrine: Paramilitary soldiers function as a special action group, carrying out deniable operations behind enemy lines. They use guerilla tactics, targeted assassinations, etc.
Brief Summary of Paramilitary Culture: The secretive nature of life in the Paramilitary is reflected in the way the organisation is perceived by the public. Many conspiracy theories surround the Paramilitary, and they are often (erroneously) suspected by the public of assassinating prominent celebrities.
Are the organizations primarily Offensive or Defensive?: Offensive
Are the organizations under a clear Military command, under clear command of the State, or mostly independent?: The Paramilitary is answerable to the civic justice system. It is monitored by a collection of individuals from both the military and the civilian government.
Is there significant civilian support for the Paramilitary groups?: The highly classified nature of the Paramilitary's work means that the public tends to distrust it.
Personnel: 30,000
Combat Personnel: 5,000

Overall Assessment:

Are the branches of the Military united with a clear command structure for use between branches?: Yes. Branches answer to overall commanders that are appointed to lead operations in different threatres - these commanders are, in turn answerable to the commander-in-chief.
Are Strategic Decisions decided by Military or Civilian leadership?: Military, but plans are approved by the President before being executed.
Are the branches more or less united, with open co-operation between the branches?: Yes. The centralised command structure means that the branches are forced to co-operate if they are to succeed.
Are there any enmities between branches?: The Navy and the Airforce occasionally argue over responsibilities in the Gulf of Hamza, but these disagreements are generally minor.
Is the overall Strategic Doctrine Defensive or Offensive?: Defensive
Nuclear Option?: Yes
How many?: Over 21,000 nuclear devices
Via Submarine?: 2,000
Via Strategic Bomber?: 5,000
Via land-based ICBM?: 11,000
Via land-based TBM?: 3,000

'A distinction is made in private life between what a man thinks and says of himself and what he really is and does. In historical struggles one must make a still sharper distinction between the phrases and fantasies of the parties and their real organisation and real interests, between their conception of themselves and what they really are.'

Name of Nation: The Trade Empire of Graditora

Military Branches and Roles: Regular Army, Royal Navy, Royal Airforce, Royal Marines
Regular Ground Forces
Small Arms Used: OKS Bayonet, GR-P96(Sidearm), GR-12(Assault Rifle), GR-13(Battle Rifle), MG-8(MMG), M2HB(HMG), R-7(Bolt Action Sniper Rifle), R-8(Semi Automatic Sniper Rifle), R-127(.50 Anti Material Rifle), R-20(20mm Anti Material Rifle), FRAG grenades, flash grenades, and incendiary grenades
Body Armor Used: Level IV Body Armor(Helmet, Vest, Bicep Protector, Groin Guard, Thigh Guards, and Ballistic Mask)

Artillery Used: Slave Mod 2(Rocket), Helsing SPG(155mm), Artemis SPG(210mm), and AMOS modified G-2's
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Graditoran training of Regular Army soldiers start when a recruit enlists at his earliest convenience at 16. The young recruit is then taught how to care for his clothing and bunk and must master these simple soldiering tasks before he can move onto weaponry. At weaponry during the time permitted till 18 he'll learn how to operate and use all Graditoran small arms as well as a few other common weapons like AK's and M16's. This goes on till he masters these weapons well beyond their projected effective range. If he masters his firearms before eighteen he'll be put into physical training for as long as he needs to add on the extra muscle to carry a fellow soldier(160-180lbs) one hundred yards, complete more then forty four perfect push ups in under two minutes, fifty sit ups in two minutes, and run two miles in less then fifteen minutes. This then gives the army a well trained and peak physically fit soldier ready to be put through simulated warfare and war games with other boot-camps to see how he handles mentally for about a month and a half. After passing this phase he's deemed combat ready and can go on to take a basic combative position or take specialized courses for another month to four years. These courses can cover a multitude of things from vehicle maintenance to cooking on the field or learning how to fly military craft and being trained by special forces units to increase effectiveness on the field.

Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine: Graditoran Offensive doctrine is based largely on it's long range missile, artillery, and air force weaponry and equipment to recon and target likely enemy units "softening" the targets for the ground forces. Tanks and mech units are usually placed ahead of foot units to take the brunt of fire and artillery units and air support not to far behind to provide aiding fire. Tanks anvil, mech units support, tank destroyers and light vehicles hammer, foot troops secure and fortify, and artillery and air force smash any surviving unit.
Defensive Doctrine varies between circumstances. If a force is larger then Graditora's say 10-1 then the existing armed forces will dissipate and the government head put into hiding to wage a long and bloody insurgency of guerrilla warfare striking out at the occupying forces weak points and destroying the most valuable equipment the occupier has on the field to make occupying Graditora a strain on the enemies economy eventually leading to the occupying forces withdrawal. This is a planned tactic since the 80's and has an estimated insurgency length of 150 years.
If Graditora is larger or equal in size her forces will resist at the beachheads and make the beaches a kill zone and make all aerial landings in or near the fronts impossible by arming the citizenry and creating inland militia's as well as calling forth the QRM to help aid.
Brief Summary of Military Culture: Resilient and Determined. Able to take on larger forces that outmatch her own Graditora has forged a quality over quantity belief through past wars they have repelled and have taken enemy forces aback.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): All Graditoran officers are put through combat with either her own armies or a foreign army for at least half a year with the core basis of their learning's, speed. Strike fast and strike hard. Graditoran officers are known for their ferocity to throw soldiers into combat in the blink of an eye the moment any sign of weakness is spotted.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities): Rather different from the tactical perspective but still retaining combat experience the pace is slowed down to take in the battlefield more deeply then before and assure Graditora's casualties are excessively lower then the opposing forces.
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: Well trained and extremely efficient.

Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment:

To join the New Hayesalian Military, you must be:
· A New Hayesalian or specified Greater Prussian citizen, although some waivers may be given;
· No younger than 17 years of age on joining;
· No older than 45 years of age on joining;
· Complete successfully a uniform military physical;
· Pass a fitness test;
· Pass an aptitude test;
· Have no major criminal history and undergo a police check;
. Have a checkable background for the past 10 years;
· Be prepared to travel to a Military Training Station and perform strenuous physical and mental activities.

New Hayesalian Military Basic training is well-known around the world and is unique in that Basic Training is applied to all recruits. Service members of the Army, Navy and Air Fore conduct Basic Training under the instruction of their service, but the schedule remains the same. Officer candidates then gain further officer military training in addition to the 10 week schedule, and enlisted personnel transfer to single service training, focused on the unique general responsibilities of their branch and then job specialisation courses.

WEEK ONE: Reorientation & Fitness
Recruits are issued with new financial details and issued with equipment. That includes service dress and Wraith camouflage fatigues in the Naval or Coniferous pattern. Personnel can be sent anywhere in the world at short notice. As a result, all personnel must have up to date inoculations for all the major diseases, which is usually done before training. A full medical check is conducted.

All personnel are expected to stay in top shape. There are two particular targets behind military fitness training:

(1) The ability to run a long distance at speed, which could be essential where it is necessarily to escape a dangerous situation. Basic obstacle courses and some common obstacles in the field are demonstarted and some advanced skilles are also taught over the course of training.

(2) Strength. Basic resistance training with body mass (e.g. push-ups) and weights can quickly double a person’s strength. Combined with skilled application of martial arts techniques, most New Hayesalian Military personnel have the strength and ability to fend off a larger assailant.

All personnel undergo quarterly medicals, where they are given dietary advice and a set of training targets. They are allowed to pick from a range of fitness programs other than scheduled PT. Team sports are popular, but some prefer more solitary activities such as running or working out in the gym. This is necessary, as road marches ranging from 5km to 18km will take place. However on basic training, physical training is dictated by the instruction staff. Recruits will be introduced to the obstacle course.

Recruits are taught military ranks and respect, as well as how to properly maintain and wear uniforms. Every recruit will be issued with a smart book which contains information of training, the Military, all three services and the history of the NHM. In this week, all administrative checks will have been completed and recruits will take their oath to serve the NHM. The week will end with a 1km road march.

WEEK 2: Drill and Ceremonial
Recruits are instructed how to properly conduct drill, such as marching and saluting. The week is extensive and culminates with a parade for directing staff. Should a section (usually 30 recruits) commit an offence, they will generally run the obstacle course as a form of beasting. Fitness training continues, culminating this week with a 5km road march.

WEEK 3: Hand to Hand Combat
In hand to hand combat training, emphasis is placed on developing powerful punches and kicks, especially targeting the weak spots of larger opponents including eyes, fingers and weak points. Most responsible martial arts schools refrain from teaching students these techniques because they may be used inappropriately. However, soldiers are placed in dangerous situations and it is vital that they have the most powerful martial arts techniques at their disposal. The week culminates with a 7km road march.

WEEK 4: Weapons Handling
Each week, hours are given to learning how to use the standard military equipment for all ground troops such as the Ripper Mk3, CGPMG and Model 9 pistol, as well as more advanced techniques in using these weapons. All troops during this time must carry with them at all times a Ripper Mk3 rifle and keep it cleaned and maintained at inspection readiness at all times. Marksmanship training is consistently carried out, and the week ends with all recruits expected to meet marksmanship standards. The week culminates in a 9km pack march with weapons.

WEEK 5: Basic Combat Fieldcraft Training
Recruits at this stage learn the basics of combat in the field. This is particularly needed for infantry and other frontline recruits, however all recruits are taught these skills to allow them to be prepared if they were ever called upon to move forwards in a batlefield. Hand and arm signals, communication, squad formations, reacting to contact, cover and concealment classes, fighting position construction, Land Navigation (day/night), Basics of NBC warfare/protection, Grenade Training and general first aid are all learned. Personnel are subject to everything pertaining to close quarter battles and marksmanship. They are also subject to training and tactics and how to apply them to various battlefield terrain (not limited to) Urban, Mountain, Forests, etc. Recruits will spend an entire week learning everything they can about the various vehicles employed by the NHM. This includes live fire crew served weapon systems on the Model 50, day/night land nav, convoy operations and communication, react to contact (to include NBC), vehicle familiarization and personal maintenance. The week ends with an 11km pack march with weapons.

WEEK 6: Field Test One
Recruits will be put through a series of exercises designed to test their ability to use the military tactics taught to them previously. This includes live fire, night operations, force on force, first aid and other field tests including leadership. The exercise ends with a 13km pack march with weapons.

WEEK 7: Revision
Recruits are given remedial training on any issues spotted by instructional staff during the Field Test, as well as the weeks previous. This week is dedicated to 'ironing out the problems.' The week ends with a 15km pack march with weapons.

WEEK 8: Close Quarters Combat
Combining skills of hand-to-hand and weapons handling, recruits are instructed how to perform close quarters battle with the Model 9 pistol and Ripper Mk3. This module is considered important as CQB could occur during an enemy infiltration- if New Hayesalian personnel cannot react, they would be left highly vulnerable. The week ends with a 17km pack march with weapons.

WEEK 9: Field Test Two
Using all acquired skills, recruits conduct a full series of operations. Concludes with a 20km pack march with webbing and rifle.

WEEK 10: Pass Out
Recruits do a final parade for high-up military personnel before moving onto the next step of their career.

AFTER BASIC
Fitness remains very important. Any personnel who misses their fitness target without an excuse (such as an injury), will be assigned to a tough fitness program under the direct supervision of a military training instructor. This compulsory training is unpleasant and very few personnel allow their fitness level drop below an acceptable level more than once.

Information Technology and a computer hacking module has been included in the New Hayesalian training program since the late 1980s. All personnel are taught basic hacking skills, enabling them to bypass simple passwords and find hidden or deleted data. More secure data, such as encrypted data, can usually be copied onto a portable hard disc drive or memory key and passed on to the Intelligence Corps, where specialists have a strong record of decoding even the most strongly encrypted information. Personnel are trained in the best use of cameras and other equipment, particularly with regard to getting good quality photographs of documents and intel.

Qualification Training occurs at designated schools at established locations, including some international bases in Paddy O Fernature, United NW Canada, Lamoni and Borinken. Exercises, which are designed to reinforce skills, occur at training area's within that Legion's training area or Province, and occasionally at other training areas including international locations.

General officer training occurs at NHS Gubernatio in Dame, Zolira; Army College at Osenthest, Retalimora; or Air Force Officer's Academy in Armeville, Quepasa. Some officers will study at The New Hayesalian National Academy of Defence, which is a training academy as well as university, in Revnami.

Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine:

The New Hayesalian Military is known for their integration of air and ground combat capabilities, creating an efficient fighting force. Epitomizing the saying, "high speed, low drag", these elite troops excel in all combat conditions trainable and can rapidly deploy anywhere in the world.

Personnel of the New Hayesalian Military pride themselves on their professionalism and hold themselves up to a very high standard. In a sense, they are the perfect modern-day embodiment of the medieval knight, chivalrous, brave, and steadfast in their beliefs.

Tactics and strategies vary from one New Hayesalian Military unit to another. New Hayesalian commanders see this as an asset as enemies are always kept on their toes and individual groups are able to make a niche' for their abilities as well as make a name for themselves. The NH Military is a modern and combined force and combined arms operations can be executed with unprecedented capacity.

Brief Summary of Military Culture: New Hayesalian military members may seem strangely warm and friendly to one another, particularly on base, but this comes with the fact that they are expected to be self-motivated and to strive to achieve success in all tasks. On operations, this gives way to direct orders which are followed diligently and professionally. This culture may seem odd to some foreign military members, but it leads to higher rates of retention with more disciplined soldiers and better job satisfaction, with those who do not suit the military life being more often than not replaced with motivated new personnel. This culture of mutual respect and relative friendliness does not allow for insubordination or lax commanders, but it does prepare New Hayesalians to face challenges with a positive outlook and courage.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): Officers are expected to represent their service's and the Military's values and the Code of Conduct, and are within the confines of doctrine and recommendations of senior staff able to make tactical decisions to achieve battlefield success.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities) New Hayesalian senior officers are expertly trained to make sound strategic decisions in line with the needs of Government and are expected to be effective, efficient and ethical in their decision making processes.
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: The New Hayesalian Military has a wide variety of logistics platforms and solutions and agreements with other nations, as well as a large number of overseas bases for execution of logistical tasks.

The Armed Republic of Alexiandra

Level III

The Armed Republic features a competent standing army. While the soldiers that make it up aren't anywhere near as qualified or well-trained as the Marshite army, they nonetheless are high-caliber individuals supplemented by good education. A smart army is better than a dumb one. They are outgunned to a large degree as Marshites enjoy advantages in most avenues of combat. Their military doctrine works in their favor and though they are not considered a mighty threat, they are capable of a fierce defense. They are far too outnumbered to provide a challenge if they were to invade Holy Marsh, but could feasibly hold off a Marshite attack for several months. Their air force is outdated in comparison to the Marshite Air Force but is otherwise competent and though unable to push an advance can sustain a defense. This extends to their naval forces, which while wildly outmanned and unable to push an offensive, once again could put up a fierce defensive effort. The Armed Republic does not present an offensive threat to the Marshite state, but could put up a spirited defense of the homeland.

Vancon

Level ????

Vancon must resubmit as M-SAD does not see how the nation can field the forces it does at its size. As it is, looking at the size and cost of the equipment it uses, M-SAD currently looks at Vancon as a LevelII- an offensive minded nation whose doctrine and society would not be able to support a war of any length with the Marshite state.

The Trade Empire of Graditora

Level VI

The Trade Empire features a military of superior capability and size. It is very well armed and armoured. While M-SAD will still believe that Marshites are better equipped, the difference is narrow. The same can be said to some degree for quality of foot soldier. M-SAD believes Marshites are better trained but Graditoran forces are also very well trained themselves. More importantly, M-SAD is of the belief that the Graditoran soldier is a bit slower to be produced at a higher caliber, giving Marshites the advantage in the long scale vis a vi numbers. Of course, in the short term, Graditoran forces have the advantage in numbers while being denied full effectiveness due to a slightly worse logistical chain. In a direct comparison between ground forces, M-SAD believes that in the short term the armies are at a virtual standstill. Over the long haul Marshite society can keep up the pace of producing soldiers better and would be able to bleed Gradtitora white, but that is an unhappy outcome. Doctrine wise they also engage one another evenly. Both armies feature similar offensive doctrines and while a Graditoran insurgency would be brutal, Marshites excel at fighting insurgencies brutally.

Thus, it comes down to comparisons outside of the ground forces. Graditoran air forces are larger, but are not nearly as well done in logistically. Once again, a short term advantage with long term advantages for the Marshite state. On the high seas, the advantage in supercarriers is considered evened out if not more by the Marshite advantage under the waves and across the surface fleet, including the presence of supercapital ships. All of these factors- an even ground force with brutal air conflict and devastating naval operations- would preclude a successful invasion of Holy Marsh alone. However, it is the presence of the Marshite Militia that would close shut any possibility of Graditoran victory should it invade. M-SAD believes that while Graditora has some offensive capability against the Marshite state and church, it would be unable to defeat the Militia, let alone other elements of the military. On the other hand, while Marshite victory in an invasion of Graditora is considered extremely costly, it is indeed possible. No matter what though, M-SAD would rather not go to war.

New Hayelisia

Level III

It is important for M-SAD to make it clear once more that there exists a gulf between militaries that are very hioghly skilled and dangerous and militaries that present a threat to the Holy Marsh, as is the point of this assessment. No nation represents this difference more than New Hayelisia. It has an extremely well-equipped army that has a fantastic logistical capability. It is well led and has capable combat doctrine. However, it is not as well-trained as the Marshite military is so overwhelmingly outnumbered that the outcome is foregone. War is not fought in a vaccum however, as New Hayelisian doctrine well knows. However, Marshite air forces are considered superior in terms of numbers, training, as well as equipment. This means that it comes down to the Hayelisian Navy, but here it is so woefully undermanned and outnumbered that after the opening engagements what remains of the Navy would be too sparsely manned to make a difference. Without a nuclear option or a significant defensive force, M-SAD sees no honest barrier to Marshite victory on the offensive and no threat to the Church. While it is expected that the Hayelisian War would be costly at first due to the high quality of the enemy, the outcome is not in doubt. This does not mean M-SAD believes the Hayelisian military to be weak. On the contrary, it is powerful and strong. It simply does not present a threat to the Church and State.

Name of Nation:

Military Branches and Roles: Six branches: Army (Ground Forces), Navy (Sea Forces), Air Force (Air Forces), Space and Missile Force (ICBM Forces), Marechaussee (Border Services), and Coast Guard (Sea Rescue).
Regular Ground Forces: ~100 000
Small Arms Used: Y26A1 battle rifle, Y26C1 carbine battle rifle
Body Armor Used: PASGT (for lack of a better armor system)
Infantry Support Weapons Used: Y32A2 LMG, Y26A1 DMR, Y60A1 MMG

APCs/IFVs Used:
Tanks Used: HT9A7 "Yrkandir" tanks
Artillery Used: YrC9 "Arkantyr" SPGs
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: All citizens of serving age, betwee 18 and 50, have to serve at least three years in the Defense Forces, which is the conscripted branch of the Yukonastan military. Basic training takes about twelve weeks, in which soldiers learn a variety of skills, and practice these skills to a high degree of perfection. For the Yukonastan Expeditionary Forces, training is constant. The Expeditionary Forces are drawn out of ex-conscripts, who wish to make a career out of the military. They are trained to a slightly higher standard, and are maintained at one DEFCON level higher, on average.
Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine: Sit back and watch, alternatively salt the ground with copious amounts of nukes, Yukonastan generally doesn't get involved. But if we do, we follow a combination Western/Soviet doctrine, focusing on small units and armor. Of course, we rely heavily on nukes, and are known to bomb a theater with 'em fairly regularly.
Brief Summary of Military Culture: Everyone has to do it, and everyone makes the best of it. Not entirely gung-ho semper fi devildog, but not wishy-washy either.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): Officers are well-trained in positioning their troops, and using the strengths of fairly dedicated units to blot out their weaknesses.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities): Higher ranking officers are well-versed in the sort of chess game that Yukonastan's doctrine really is.
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: Capable of fighting a long and drawn-out war, logistics is heavily focused on. Vehicles are well-protected, convoys are nearly impossible to spot from the air, and very rapidly deliver supplies.

Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Fallowing the recent modernization effort, a national conscription has been established which includes extremely strict physical requirements. All men are brought in for inspection at the age of 17, with those who pass the physical requirements sent on to training and those who don't sent to the national reserve. Training is modelled after a mix of the US marine basic and elements of Spetsnaz basic. Basic training lasts for seven weeks and is extremely intense, with recruits who fail to compete exercises being dismissed from the military after only one or two retries. Training includes weapons handling, jungle servile, urban combat, asymmetrical warfare, squad tactics, basic combat engineering, COIN operations and first aid among other topics. During training recruits are subjected to intense political indoctrination to ensure loyalty to the military government.
Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine: Doctrine is broken into two categories fallowing the great modernization: External and Internal. Internal doctrine dictates actions within the Republic of Padnak, such as combating local insurgencies and rebellions. Internal doctrine is based off lessons learned by the US military in Vietnam and the Russian military in Chechnya among other things and is based around using extreme firepower and dismounted infantry to slowly drive out hostile forces preceded by rapid moving airborne operations and air assaults to destroy hostile forces. External doctrine dictates how actions with external threats are handled. External doctrine concentrates on asymmetrical tactics such as swarm tactics and massed missile strikes to eliminate hostile forces before they can reach the Republic of Padnak. External doctrine is based around tactics used by Iran and has proven effective against much more technologically advanced forces, primarily though the use of small attack boats and long range guided AShMs. For offensive operations outside of Padnak on the strategic level, small groups of extremely well trained and experienced special forces are Padnak's primary focus.
Brief Summary of Military Culture: Military service is seen as necessary for a boy to become a man and the military plays a central role in most Padnaki domestic and foreign affairs. Padnak's very strong tribal warrior culture has been cultivated by the current government to stir up deep seated militaristic feelings in the general population to make military service seem exceptionally honourable and necessary.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): Vast experience owing to almost 60 years of on and off insurgencies and rebellions withing Padnak. Generally aggressive and bold padnaki tactical abilities are exceptional and must be to make up for outdated equipment and numerical disadvantages. With the new policy of at least four major military exercises a year, tactical abilities have greatly improved and the mid level officer corps have become much more flexible and proficient in a much wider range of military operations. Many Padnaki officers are now engaged in training programs abroad in Korva, allowing them to become comfortable with leading in non jungle environments.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities) Competent but conservative. With the low and mid level officer corps undergoing a major revitalization and modernization effort, the high level officer corps has remained relatively untouched. Strategic leaderships is still conservative and based on soviet ideas.
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: Due to the fact that extremely rugged jungle covers almost 60% of Padnak, most logistics withing Padnak are carried out by hand, however the Padnaki air force has a number of strategic and tactical transport aircraft while the Padnaki Army Aviation Corps operate large numbers of utility helicopters. With one of the bigger focuses of the modernization being on enhancing on the ground logistics capabilities, this area has greatly improved. Logistics in jungle areas are now much more rapid and efficient through greater cordination with heliborne supply elements, while land based logistics have been enhanced with the procurement of new trucks and pack animals for extremely roughed areas such as the Haun Highlands. Strategic logistics have improved, but are still lacking compared to most nations. Three large transport aircraft have been procured, giving the Padnaki armed forces long range transport abilities, however these are not enough to enable any major operations outside of Padnak without straining logistics efforts.
Personnel: 650,000
Combat Personnel: 431,300

Air Forces

Fighter Aircraft Used: Mig-21 x 100, Mig-23 x 48, Mig-29 x 31, LY909 Sparrowhawk x 25, Mig-31 x 24, Su-30 x 12, LY908 'Warhawk' x 24
Strategic Bombers Used:Tu-95 "Bear" x 24, Tu-16 x 24, FB-35 x 15
Ground Attack Aircraft Used (Incl. Gunships and Attack Helicopters): (Trainer aircraft included do to their use in ground attack COIN operations)
Air Force: Su-25MT "Kazuar" x 50, Su-24 x 10, Nanchang Q-5 x 10, EMB 314 Super Tucano x 5, EMB 312 Tucano x 31, Hongdu JL-8 x 14, Aero L-29 Delfín x 19
Army Aviation Corps: H63M Osa (Wasp) Attack Helicopter x 10, Mi-24 x 28
Republican Guard Aviation Corps: Hind-D x 25
Air Transport Used: C-10 Minotaur x 3, Il-76 x 6, An-22 x 2, An-12 x 15, C-130 Hercules x 4, An-2 x 25
Number of Aircraft: Fixed Wing: 552 Helicopter: 24(air force) 206(Army Aviation Corps) Total: 782
Personnel: 78,000

Naval Forces
(old vessels have been scraped while the number of missile boats and other small ships has massively increased fallowing a study of their effectiveness against hostile naval forces)
Number of Frigates: 19
Number of Destroyers: 18
Number of Cruisers: 1
Number of Aircraft Carriers: 0
Number of Amphibious Assault Ships: 1
Number of Submarines: 19
Personnel: 93,000

Paramilitary Groups: Padnaki National Guard

Stated Purpose of Paramilitary Group(s): To support the Padnaki Military in the defense of Padnak
Small Arms Used: AKM, RPD, AK-47, Type-56, TTP-14, DPV-12, DShK, RPG-7, Mainly weapons formerly in service with the Padnaki Army
Body Armor Used: None, Flack Jackets,
Infantry Support Weapons Used: PKM, PADK-20
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: RPG-7, Type-69 RPG
Vehicles Used: Technicals, Type-59 MBT, BTR-60
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Comprised of men who did not qualify for active military service
Brief Summary of Standard Doctrine: Same as the Padnaki Army
Brief Summary of Paramilitary Culture: Similar to the Padnaki Army, far less disciplined owing to the nature of recruitment. Due to the usage of the PNG as riot control and internal security, members are generally more fanatical in their devotion to the military government.
Are the organizations primarily Offensive or Defensive?: Defensive
Are the organizations under a clear Military command, under clear command of the State, or mostly independent?: Directly subservient to the Padnaki Army
Is there significant civilian support for the Paramilitary groups? Owing to its near universal membership amongst able bodied men at some point in their lives and a large amount of propaganda surrounding it the Padnaki National Guard is generally vied positively, however this is changing fallowing the use of the PNG to crush student protesters during the 30th uprising.
Personnel: 904,000
Combat Personnel: 893,000

Overall Assessment:

Are the branches of the Military united with a clear command structure for use between branches?: Yes, all forces are under the command of the Central Command. Another area of modernization was a massive improvement to the cross service communications infrastructure.
Are Strategic Decisions decided by Military or Civilian leadership?: Due to Padnak being a thinly veiled military junta almost all decisions are made by the military before being given approval by the rubber stamp national congress.
Are the branches more or less united, with open co-operation between the branches?: Yes, however there is a bit of inner service rivalry between the Padnaki Military (Army, Navy, Air Force) and the Republican Guard. With the introduction of a national conscription this has only increased due to the republican guard being an entirely professional force.
Are there any enmities between branches?: None that inhibit general combat effectiveness
Is the overall Strategic Doctrine Defensive or Offensive?: Defensive, with expeditionary capabilities.
Nuclear Option?: None, however there is a low intensity nuclear program currently active. Although its non nuclear, a massive stockpile of chemical weapons exists.
How many?: N/A
Via Submarine?: N/A
Via Strategic Bomber?: N/A
Via land-based ICBM?: N/A
Via land-based TBM?: N/A

Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Military training is a part of school curriculum in Eurasia , it is enforced from the age of 6 onwards , formal conscription starts from age 16 onwards , the eurasian military is noted for having a pedigree of brutality , where casualties and injuries on the training grounds are fairly more common than those on the battlefield , training regimes are toughest for spetsnaz units , however the military's standard of life is the best , engineers , doctors , and various other structures are under the military. Surviving the training regime deems a person fit for combat , there are live fire exercises where prisoners are used and killed by recruits , the training is extant in many areas and also consists of classes. It is a mix of the robust soviet standard with modern technologies and active learning techniques devised by military psychologists and their likes.
Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine: The Eurasian Union believes in the " Might is Right " doctrine Heavy Armor and Unmatched firepower define their standards of operation coupled with the sheer tenacity and apathy of their soldiers , which seems almost sadistic their soldiers are merciless on the battlefield due to their methods of training. Each branch varies in it's standard of operations , however the one downfall is logistics for being that heavy they are fairly slow which means they are better suited to staying where they and holding ground they are dedicated to a socialist cause and extremely loyal to their motherland , Eurasian military attention goes towards South America and the Carribean to keep the " Atlantic Menace " at bay.
Brief Summary of Military Culture: The Whole of Eurasia is bound by a warrior culture , Whether it is central asia's Mongol warriors , The Varyags of Eastern Europe , The Bogatyrs of Russia this has fuelled a traditionally masculine society where the warrior is respected above all , the military is the best profession for anyone and soldiers are amongst the most highest paid , they are valuable to society as defenders of all causes the civillian populace is dedicated and loyal to the military. War breeds in the blood of Eurasia all it's people have seen it and they hunger for it.
Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): Officers are trained to use all means necessary to attain victory , retreat is simply not an option. The Officers of the Eurasian union are Cold , Pensive and Analytical. They breed fear in their soldiers which makes them their sole concern , Officers tend to represent father figures to the men and inspire their morale , they are trained regularly so that all officers can fight and think at the same time. No sacrifice is too great if it ensures victory , sticking to Sun Tzu's Philosophy , Victorious warriors win first then go to war , whilst defeated warriors go to war first expecting to win. They use SITREP modules to control and monitor the battlefield and have immense access to devastating arsenals. War is Chess to the officer that is how emotionally apathetic he is. If his unit dies out then he fights as well , a warriors death and no other way.
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: The Supply Network is fairly strong , and the military ensures everyone has atleast something of a surplus , each unit tends to keep their own farm and commit to civil duties for extra-funding. The Lessons of the soviet union's failures have proven well however , Supply becomes a problem if an area is not supplement with a direct land based link , The Focus of the Eurasian Military is Land. It doesn't need more territory than it has , it only seeks to keep the atlantic menace out of it.

Number of Frigates: 500
Number of Destroyers: 12
Number of Cruisers: 52
Number of Aircraft Carriers: Classified ( Believed to be around 3 of a new design )
Number of Amphibious Assault Ships: Classified ( Main Army of the Navy )
Number of Submarines: Classified ( Main Arm of The Navy )
Personnel: Classified

Paramilitary Groups(Note: This would cover Militias as well as special warrior groups)

Stated Purpose of Paramilitary Group(s):
Small Arms Used: Various Soviet Arsenals , MP 446 Viking , AKS-74 , AK series , PK series , MK-107 Main Weapon , RPO-M , RPK series , Steyr SSG , Orsis rifles , Dragunov Series , AN 94 Abakan , AK 74U. Most these weapons come with tactical modifications , optics and attachments.
Body Armor Used: 6B13 , 6B23
Infantry Support Weapons Used: Unknown wired " Kamikaze " drone , Various Soviet Infantry Mortars , Short Range Cruise Missiles , 120 mm mortars , GRAD Launchers etc.
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: RPG 29 , RPG 32 , Various Single Use Rocket Launcher , KORNET ATGM ,
Vehicles Used: BTR 82 , Landrover Defender , Ural Trucks , BMP-2 , T-72B3 etc.
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: The Eurasian society is traditionally military like apart from being school curriculum the Comisserate of Para military and Cossack groups have introduced training centres , usually men and women of cossack families attend training here and are recruited into the military , The Para-military of the Eurasian Union is one of the most advanced in the world , it is a precious asset used in deniable operations etc. these groups serve as MP's help to bring stability into areas and serve civil duties helping to aide the military they are also informants.
Brief Summary of Standard Doctrine: The Para-Military is dedicated to a more free life they consist of hunters , various groups such as bikers and musicians and live in the country side they adhere to semi-conservative values and above all they support the Eurasianism doctrine ,
Brief Summary of Paramilitary Culture: Paramilitary Culture has a bravado charm to it , they are men of nature and forests and they tend to adhere well to this freedom , they are volunteers for socialist causes abroad , it is a life of adventure and hardship. The Paramilitary follows a doctrine of training similar to post soviet states and are near equivalents to most militaries.
Are the organizations primarily Offensive or Defensive?: They vary
Are the organizations under a clear Military command, under clear command of the State, or mostly independent?: They are administered under military command , as in orders are enforced by the military however most these groups live a semi-independent life style and have an indigenous structure , they are closely observed as well. They aide border guards and emergency services mostly , and help to extinguish civil unrest they will also " exorcize " anti-government sentiments by brutal means.
Is there significant civilian support for the Paramilitary groups? In the past cossack groups were accused of having Neo-fascist ideals that changed with vast " Re-education " programmes today they resemble the culture of the eurasian union in perfect light and have immersed themselves in values of socialist harmony however they have a conservative side as well and are not friendly to outsiders. Civillians view them as entertaining though some call them free loaders and purposeless drifters , which is sad since they help whenever they can some sham " groups " have been formed which are actually criminal cells.
Personnel: In The Millions
Combat Personnel: All Enlisted Personnel serve in combat as well as common tasks

Overall Assessment: Comparative to countries such as Iran , Pakistan or other fairly strong militaries , The Para-military of the Eurasian Union matches their standards on an entire basis , they are not simply guerilla fighters but highly capable and having advanced weapons on their hands as well.

Are the branches of the Military united with a clear command structure for use between branches?: Yes
Are Strategic Decisions decided by Military or Civilian leadership?: Military
Are the branches more or less united, with open co-operation between the branches?: Yes
Are there any enmities between branches?: No
Is the overall Strategic Doctrine Defensive or Offensive?: It seeks localized dominance but not overall expansion , hence defensive with certain offensive elements
Nuclear Option?: Used where there is no threat of Mutually Assured Destruction on a limited scale.
How many?: Classified ( Though considering our predecessor had the largest stockpiles in the world you can imagine multiplying that 50x )
Via Submarine?: Classified ( 10% )
Via Strategic Bomber?: Classified ( 30% )
Via land-based ICBM?: Classified ( 40% )
Via land-based TBM?: Classified ( 20% )

Mkays. Enough to start assessments- expect them tomorrow.

@ GEUtest - You must provide numbers for your military. Otherwise it is impossible to conduct a threat assessment.

@Pad- I'll get to yours tomorrow. Tired. Better in some areas! :)

Yukonastan

Level II

Yukonastan features a wildly overmatched military. While it is not ill-equipped, the ground forces do not field forces capable of standing up to the Marshite military in an even exchange by any stretch of the imagination, with Marshite forces enjoying a significant advantage in equipment and training. Compounded with the overwhelming advantage in numbers enjoyed by the Marshites and the one saving grace for Yukonastan is their nuclear policy. Even this is a detriment as the Church employs an overwhelming amount of nuclear weapons, and will be than okay with an exchange- experience in the Long War with several such exchanges as well as the increasing use of the LY4031/4032 missile defense systems makes the Marshite Church far less concerned than others would be. Coupled with the overwhelming edge Marshites have in every applicable aspect of warfare, M-SAD believes a war could be won before the Yokonastanian civliian populace could be mobilized. Rank II rather than I due mainly to the concern that a few nuclear warheads may find their way into Holy Marsh or on advancing military forces.

The Pimphood of Pimps Inc

Level II

The Pimphood's military is a study in decision-making. Featuring conflicting weapon systems and an off-beat approach to armament, the Pimphood does not have a synchronized military force logistically. Military forces are not trained to a high standard, their dip and out and dip training method considered roundly ineffective and manpower draining. This situation is corrected to a degree in their officers, but it does not matter much. With a terrible logistical operation relying on air and naval assets that are themselves likely to be destroyed, only a small fraction of their army could even possibly engage. Their Naval and Air arms are actually competently staffed and of not insignificant number. However, the brutal truth is that while those arms fare much better in this accounting and are indeed why they rank as a Level II rather than I, they are woefully outmanned and outgunned. Marshites enjoy significant advantages in all aspects of warfare and the Church believes victory could be achieved relatively painlessly.

Eurasian Union

Level II

The Eurasian Union's application is met with extreme skepticism from M-SAD. The Church, being part of Lyran Arms which is itself on the very bleeding edge of warfare technology, does not consider elements of the Eurasian Union's armed forces to nearly as well-equipped as it claims. Several claims are rejected as laughable outright (such as the effectiveness of their armor) and still others have been downgraded to what could be considered possible. In any case, the process of allowing soldiers to pick and choose weapons is a problematic and catastrophic logistical decision compounded by possibly the worst logistical makeup M-SAD has seen. M-SAD has done the Union a favor and reversed the combat personnel and total personnel numbers around so they may actually have someone on logistical duties, but even then they are overwhelmingly ineffective at logistics. Combined with their equipment selection and the question of quality on the ground may almost be forgotten.

Here, at least, the Union produces soldiers that can be expected to fight hard. Whether they can be expected to be effective soldiers is another matter entirely as the quality of the combat training is utterly unknown. They can, however, be expected to fight hard and die with stoicism. Die they will, as their doctrine runs into the teeth of Marshite doctrine and they are so overwhelmingly outnumbered that the outcome on the ground is a matter of how quickly the Eurasians will die rather than it being of any debate who will win. They are done no favors by an air force so woefully understaffed that it cannot get even five percent of its aircraft into the air. Their navy is unknown, though M-SAD considers its claims of having 500 frigates dubious at best, especially as it classified the rest of the Navy and clarifies it as the least important branch. Their paramilitary force is large, but ill-equipped and suffers from some of the same problems as the standing military. The Union is given a II instead of a I primarily because the Church expects the war to take around a month to exterminate the Union rather than a few weeks. Militarily, the Union poses no threat to the Church.

Padnakian Re-Evaluation

Level II

The threat level of Padnak has not changed as have some of the more glaring flaws remained. Their logistics capability has been improved in terms of planning, but they simply do not have the numbers to support their logistical chain. Their officer corp has improved markedly and this makes the possibility of long-term guerrilla warfare greater than before. More information about their training has been released and while M-SAD does not qualify them as poor they are generally consider competent but unremarkable. In the end however, this is not a general military assessment but one based on the danger it poses to the survival of the Church ie war with the State. Nothing has changed to make Padnak a greater threat even if they have become a better military than before.

Vancon Reassesment

Postby Vancon » Sat Aug 30, 2014 9:40 pm

Name of Nation: Vancon (MT/Early PMT)

Military Branches and Roles:
-Imperial Marines (IMAR)
-Vancon Special Forces (VANSPEC)
-Royal Paratrooper Forces (RPF)
-Vancon Security Forces (VANSEC)
-Patriots' Counter-Terrorism Unit (PCTU)
-Royal Army of Vancon (RAV)
-Royal Air Force of Vancon (RAFV)
-Royal Navy of Vancon (RNV)
-Aerial Mechanized Infantry of Vancon (AMIV)
-Experimental Forces of Vancon (EFV)

Regular Ground Forces: RAV
Small Arms Used: (All Firearms are Bullpup) CF-Mk III Assault Rifle,CF-Mk V Designated Marksman Rifle, CF-Mk XII Carbine,CF-Mk XIV Shotgun, CF-Mk X Pistol, ES-Mk VI Hand Grenade, ES-Mk VIII AP Mine,AI-Mk I Combat Knife
Body Armor Used: N/A. It seems redundant so we just have helmets. Body armor that doesn't stop bullets from what our usual enemies use is useless and heavy.
Infantry Support Weapons Used: CF-Mk LVI Squad Support Weapon, BA-Mk XIX Auto-Cannon
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: CF-Mk XVII HEAT Rocket Launcher, BA-Mk CIX Fuel Air Bomb Launcher, BA-Mk LXXIV Anti-Material Rifle
APCs/IFVs Used: Caesar IFV, Ghost LAV
Tanks Used: Helix MBT
Artillery Used: Surgeon Mobile Artillery

Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment:
As of their 18th birth day, all men and women undergo military training for the next 2 years. All soldiers train everyday, from 9am to 9pm in all sorts of categories such as weapons handling and basic strategy. Once somebody turns 20, they can either stay as a grunt, or go into the Battle School and eventually Command School. Conversely, they may leave the forces, however they must come to a training center at least once a year for re-training.

Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine:
There is no such thing as "capture" in the RAV. If capture is imminent, all supplies must be used up or destroyed, and the soldiers must execute the Prime Directive, i.e: commit suicide. The enemy is not allowed any possibility to learn about anything in our attacking force. Retreat is much preferred because that lets the soldiers fight another day, but that ability is not always available. This train of thought is drilled into children's minds when they're young.

Brief Summary of Military Culture:
Just as professional athletes are treated like heroes, the finer battalions and divisions are considered gods among men compared to those who have yet to be fully enlisted. This makes the young ones adore their superiors and make orders more efficient. On top of that, it makes them work harder to be able to join the ranks of their heroes.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities):Vanconians use lots of small forces to surround and enclose the OPFOR. This lets us cut them off in terms of supplies and communication. Also, the smaller groups normally work in tangent with a couple other ones so that is things get messy, they'll have some back-up ready to go.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities): The win-all end all strategy of the Vanconians is to lull the OPFOR into a false sense of security and then obliterate them via counter attacks and encirclement.

Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: Excellent on all fronts. When on the homeland, we have excellent supply routes that are under constant protection. Getting troops anywhere in the world is no problem due to the excess of transport craft in both the skies and seas. We'd create a No-Fly zone for the planes using our ships and this would also act as a corridor for our ships to go through.

Number of Aircraft: 300 000
Personnel: 3% of Population

Naval Forces

Number of Frigates:350
Number of Destroyers: 180
Number of Cruisers: 200

ERT

Stated Purpose of Paramilitary Group(s): To provide CSAR elements in a more domestic environment.
Small Arms Used: See RAV entry
Body Armor Used: See RAV entry
Infantry Support Weapons Used: See RAV entry
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: See RAV entry
Vehicles Used: Cormorant Troop Transport, Berceuse Medium Transport
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment:
To enlist, a soldier must volunteer and have an officer vouch for them. Anyone can volunteer and apply, but chances are that the inexperienced will not pass. Once all is said and done, they go through numerous courses such as but not limited to:
-Advanced Evade and Escape
-Advanced Marksmanship Course
-Advanced Communications & Codes
-Advanced Tracking
-Basic Field Medicine
-Basic Pursuit Driving

Brief Summary of Standard Doctrine:Contrary to most Special Forces, ERT is more of a SWAT or Paramedic service Therefore, they will still use the same general tactics as regular soldiers, but are far more conservative with thier gunfire as to not damage non-combatants.
Brief Summary of Paramilitary Culture: For most people, ERT is a step above the standard forces, and are treated as such. They are more focused on the lives of others then thier own. A good day is when one of them dies saving another 30 non-combatants, because this means that there'll be 30 more new soldiers to possibly take their place at some point.

Yukonastan

Thanks for the assessment.

You will notice that my numbers are reasonable for a small :not:Scandinavian/Canadian/Western European nation. So, if I were to be compared to, say, the UK (irl), how would the assessment change?

Your assessment would change considerably.:) Small, realistic militaries such as yours tend to suffer from my assessment due to the insane disparity in training and the unrealistic nature of my society. I'd have to look closer into the UK comparison, but no doubt much, much, much better.

Becuase of Rykshino's small size, the military is defensive in nature. The Military is tasked with repelling an attack from invading forces and defenind the territory and people of Rykshino. We co-operate heavily with our larger neighbour, Irvadistan for defence purposes. There are three military districts. The Eastern District has 1 active regiment, 2 reserve regiments and 1 reserve artillery regiment, the Central district has 2 active, 2 reserve and 1 active artillery regiment and the Western district has 1 active regiment, 2 reserve regiments and 1 reserve artillery regiment. The districts include air forces and the riverine force is part of the Central District. Each Regiment is tasked with independently securing part of Rykshinos' border and holding it during a time of war.

Brief Summary of Military Culture: Every man has to serve in the armed forces. It is considered a right of passage and the Rykshino People's Army has enjoyed a very high level of popularity amongst the civilain population even during times the government has been unpopular. The Armed forces are highly rspected.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): Rykshino's officer corps are well adept at positioning and commanding their troops and effective in the use of combined arms operations in line with the "tactical triad" system (ensuring that mechanized and motor rifle infantry, tanks and artillery effectively support each other to overcome an enemy) Rykshino stresses that leadership is key and as such maintains a capable Officer Corps. The downside is Rykshino's army has no real combat experience and it's experience is gained from military exercises alone.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities): Rykshino's military is strategic in nature. The Officers Corps are trained only in regards of the defence of Rykshino against potential aggressors. They are not trained in overseas capabilities and are not knowledgeable in regards to other countries.

Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: Each of the four active and six reserve regiments has an organic material support battalion and logistical support battalion. Independent Chemical protection and Military police battalions provide these services (about 1 of each battalion per 2 regiments)

Personnel: 24,500 active, 50,000 reserves

Combat Personnel: not sure...

If you are still doing this, I'd like an assessment. It's been years since I did one with Bafuria and I would like to see how I'm doing today.

Name of Nation: The Empire of Tule

Military Branches and Roles:
Regular Ground Forces: Tulean Army.
Small Arms Used: MP 45, MG3, AG-42 (The latter two sharing ammo.), P210, MP5.
Body Armor Used: Lightweight Helmet, steel magazines and E-Tool relied on for torso protection. A fox hole and a well fed LMG offer the best protection against the enemy after all.
Infantry Support Weapons Used: Carl Gustav recoilless rifle, 40 mm artillery (IFV), 81 mm mortar, 120 mm mortar.
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: Carl Gustav recoilless rifle, BILL1&2, AT-4
APCs/IFVs Used: Patria AMV, CV90, Patria AMV, Sisu Nasu, Sisu Pasi, Patria AMOS (Twenty Motor-Rifle Brigades total)
Tanks Used: Leopard 2. (Four Brigades)
Artillery Used: 155 mm SPA, 120 mm towed howitzers (Attatched at Brigade level)
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Both men and women in Tule may be conscripted, though after taking alternate service, medical or socio-economic exemptions into account only about 60% of Military aged people end up serving. The first term is 9 months, but remain officially reservists for a period of 12 years, in which they must serve one week per year. Fun fact: Every Tulean conscript must learn how to use skis effectively, as they provide excellent tactical mobility during the winter.

Conscripts are assigned to their roles based on their physical and mental characteristics with their personal preferences taken into account.
Their performance and interests during their first 9 month term of service then dictates whether they are NCO material or not.
Commissioned officers are mostly volunteers, though some are conscripts who have chosen to participate in an officer program at the end of their initial term.

Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine:
Tule is a relatively small nation compared to her rivals, with a population of only 26 million. However, the country's geography is well suited to a defensive war, with vast and sparsely populated forests, long mountain ranges, and erratic coastlines defined by fjords and archipelagos.

Thus, to maximise her strategic advantage, the armed forces of Tule must adapt to and compensate for the inherent skill limitation of conscripts and slow reaction time to properly utilize her military effectively.

The land forces of Tule are thus largely made up of light infantry, which have superior strategic mobility and more modest logistical requirements compared to more mechanized land forces. Fortunately, the nature of Tule's terrain diminishes the tactical mobility of armored forces far more than light infantry, levelling the playing field.

The Tulean Air force sacrifices some technological potential to enable the use of combat aircraft that have more modest maintenance requirements, higher mission capability rates and faster scramble times and turnaround rates. This not only enables Tule to field a larger number of combat aircraft than it could otherwise, but enables her to use each aircraft more frequently and on a shorter notice than more advanced fighters, giving her a strategic edge in the air.

The Tulean Navy is largely adapted to coastal defence, with high numbers of small warships, minelayers, submarines, coastal artillery and martime bombers. The reason for this is not because of a large naval disadvantage, but rather due to a lack of need for a powerful navy considering that Tule's rivals don't have powerful offensive navies of their own.

Brief Summary of Military Culture:

Tule is a nation renowned for social cohesion, welfare, internal harmony and respect for the law. Despite the lack of relative professionalism and skill of the average Tulean soldier, s/he nevertheless is highly motivated to defend his fellow nationals and will follow his superior officer's orders to defend the homeland. S/he will also trust his/her fellow squadmate to support him/her when in dire straits.
In summary, the average soldier may not be experienced or highly skilled, but he is determined, disciplined and trusting towards his leaders and comrades.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): While the tactical capabilities of the Tulean armed forces are great, they are tailor made to Tulean circumstances. A drawn out offensive war is not likely to succeed against an equally powerful opponent, especially if he is in a faraway country with a different terrain than the one in Tule.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities): The same can be said for the strategic capabilities of the Tulean armed forces, excellent on their own turf and formidable in a rapid offensive, but the strategic offensive capabilities of Tule rely heavily on surprise and speed.
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: The logistical capabilities of Tule are excellent, however this is primarily thanks to the very nature of the Tulean armed forces, which are designed to have modest logistical requirements.
Personnel: As mentioned above, Tulean personnel are perhaps not the most skilled, but their duties are generally conceived with that in mind and they will do their job as well as they can. The total number amounts to about 1.6 million during full mobilization.
Combat Personnel: Again, Tulean soldiers don't train to fight for a living so their skills may be a bit rusty when the time comes, but they can be expected to stick around and fight instead of abandoning their post. Combat personnel amount to about 500,000 troops.

Air Forces

Fighter Aircraft Used: F-20 Tigerfish (420 total, primarily for CAS and air superiority)
Strategic Bombers Used: F-105 Thunderchief (60 total, strategic nuclear deterrence and strategic bombing as well as Interdiction)
Ground Attack Aircraft Used (Incl. Gunships and Attack Helicopters): F-20 Tigerfish, F-4E Phantom (180 total, primarily for Interdiction, SEAD, Interception, and Maritime bombing] and P-51 Mustang (Modernized trainer that doubles as CAS aircraft)
Air Transport Used: Fokker F-27.
Number of Aircraft: 850
Personnel: ~50,000 during full mobilization.

Naval Forces

Number of Frigates: 40
Number of Destroyers: 0
Number of Cruisers: 0
Number of Aircraft Carriers: 0
Number of Amphibious Assault Ships: 2
Number of Submarines: 18
Personnel: 30,000

Paramilitary Groups: N/A

Overall Assessment:

Are the branches of the Military united with a clear command structure for use between branches?: Yes
Are Strategic Decisions decided by Military or Civilian leadership?: Military
Are the branches more or less united, with open co-operation between the branches?: Yes
Are there any enmities between branches?: No
Is the overall Strategic Doctrine Defensive or Offensive?: Defensive (No-first use)
Nuclear Option?: Yes
How many?: 140
Via Submarine?: 0
Via Strategic Bomber?: 60
Via land-based ICBM?: 0
Via land-based TBM?: 0

Vancon

Level V

The military of Vancon is one of very high quality, a factor which is displayed throughout. Though not as well trained or equipped as Marshites, the difference is small. Marshites enjoy an advantage in numerical supremacy but it is a significant one, while in the air and at sea these numbers are close. Across the board in many categories there is either a degree of parity or Marshite success that is not overwhelming. However, there are cracks once one digs deeper. The Vancon Navy has a wide array of personnel capable of filling in for casualties suffered but they do not have the numbers of ships to utilize their naval depth. The Marshite Navy thus will own the sea. The Holy Warriors have a significant advantage over any comparable Vancon force and while the ERT are quite noble, they are nonetheless not superior. Marshite and Vancon tactical moves are similar, but their strategic moves are not one that pair effectively against the Marshite army. Most importantly, there is not a cohesive war winning doctrine for the whole military. Compared to Marshites, they are found lacking. Vancon does not pose an existential risk to the Church, though if they were to concentrate their power they would be capable of taking a narrow corridor before being evicted or destroyed. On the defensive, where their numbers can come into play, they pose a much greater challenge. M-SAD believes victory is more than likely achievable in less than three years, but a longer war may be needed.

-----------------------------
People's Republic of Rykshino

Level I

The Theocracy has looked at the People's Republic and judged it accordingly. It has a well-trained officer corp and a strategy to suit its defensive nature. However, Marshites enjoy a significant edge in training and a night and day difference in the quality of armaments. None of this takes into account the absolutely overwhelming advantage Marshites would enjoy in numbers. The People's Republic does not threaten to the Church in any way in an offensive manner while the Church is more than likely able to send a single division to the People's Republic and get war-ending results in a day or three.

–-----------------------------
The Empire of Thule

Level II

The Empire is overmatched in any conceivable category. Marshites are far better trained and equipped, having an edge in battlefield technology that is perhaps one of the largest seen. Marshites are trained better and by the information we have obtained much better soldiers, and when one considers the overwhelming advantage Marshites have in numbers, this difference in soldier by soldier quality and equipment is exacerbated. In the air and at sea Marshites enjoy total advantage in every facet of war. All of this would naturally combine to make this a Level I report, but a few things stick out. An enemy who is aware of his own weaknesses and plans for them as Thule has can mitigate some of them to a degree, and the military it fields will fight in favorable terrain with a logistical strength of some note. They do not have much in the way of quality, numbers, of firepower, but what they do have can and will be used to its greatest ability. M-SAD believes the war could be won within a period of a few weeks, but not without some of Thule's planning and preparation coming to the forefront as wise decisions.

Thanks. Having an "efficient" military was my goal after all and it's nice to see that you are in agreement.

I did lose of course, but then again I don't expect to face a military of a billion men. :p

Name of Nation: The Kingdom of Nachmere

Military Branches and Roles:Royal Nachmerian Army(RNA), Royal Nachmerian Navy(RNN), Royal Nachmerian Air Force(RNAF), Nachmerian Militia.
Regular Ground Forces:RNA.
Small Arms Used:AFS-6.5 modular infantry weapon(rifle, carbine,DMR- 6.5mm grendel), USP40 pistol, Bar Kochva 45 pistol,10mm SMGs, semi automatic shotguns 338 lapua sniper rifles, Thermobaric grenades, frag grenades, flash grenades, beyonets.
Body Armor Used: local made level IIIA armor for infantry, lighter versions for armor and artillery troops. local made IIIA rated helmets.
Infantry Support Weapons Used: M2HB 50cal HMG, 40mm UBGL, FN-MAG MMG, FN-MINIMI 6.5X39, LY23 Songbird anti material rifle, 60mm mortar (company level), 81mm mortar(company lvl).
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: LY-65(mainly for ATGM in company level) ,LAAAB-100 RPG(squad level fcs with inertial guidance 750mm pen+APAM option), ATAV-2 Assassin(think Krizantema on steroids, brigade level), ATAV-120(Hermes launcher on tank chassis with blimp observation radar), HTD-180 "Kotesh"(lol big TD with 180mm blame Allanea)
APCs/IFVs Used:FVH-1 Lioness(HIFV with AT), LIFV-2070(light wheeled IFV with cannon and 70mm rockets).
Tanks Used: MBT-142 "Grizzly"(140mm ETC gun, passive and active armor, BMS)
Artillery Used: LY300 Manticores(missile), Coalition 155mm SPA, 160 and 120 mm SP-mortars, 155mm towed howitaers.
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: Military service is not only mandatory in the Kingdom, it is a way of life. The Nachmerian society is tribal, with each tribes nobility tied to others in a system of honor and blood ties. Those who do not serve are shamed. The better, more important role you served in the armed forces, the better the affect on you possibility to find employment, have a good social life etc. It is also one of the main avenues to politics and one of the only ways to earn a nobility title in modern Nachmere. As a result young Nachmerians spend quite alot of time preparing for the military. There are countless military schools and boarding schools, ample military preparation private courses and so on. Even non military schools almost all have military parts in their curriculum. These facts combined with Nachmerians cultural obsession with firearms and hunting, means most recruits already have a firm hand on rifleman skills when they join. The army is mostly comprised of conscripts in the lower ranks, with NCOs and Officers being proffesional soldiers, but drawn from the ranks(it is virtually impossible to become an officer in the army without first being a soldier). The navy and airforce are quite different and rely mostly on professional manpower, with many people signing on and than going to study technical degrees only to join the RNAF or RNN at 21 instead of 18. In all branches, training emphasizes live fire exercises, force on force training, and often includes surprising or rapidly changing scenarios. For NCOs and officers a great emphasis is put on combined arms training. Following the 3 years of mandatory service or upon completing their service as professional soldiers, nearly all Nachmerians continue to serve as reservists until the age of 38. Following their release from reserve status, many of them choose to join the Nachmerian Militia, which greatly bolsters the numbers and ability of the semi official organization.

Brief Summary of Standard Military Doctrine: Land doctrine is detailed in length here. Naval doctrine here. The aerial doctrine is based on similar principles of war and calls for the RNAF to first and foremost create air superiority over the battlefield(if possible by a preemptive airport strike) after which it must concentrate on CAS for the RNA. RNAF theorists speculate that attempting to provide CAS before the skies are cleared and enemy AD is destroyed will result in both air superiority and CAS not being performed. The land forces are aware of this issue and will also attempt to hit enemy AD with land assets such as artillery and other means.

Brief Summary of Military Culture: As mentioned, the military is a mjor part of life in Nachmere. The question is almost never "have you served?" but rather "where did you serve?". While internal rivalry is present, it is usually kept the cadence level and friendly trashtalk between units. The Nachmerian focus on defense spending makes funding quite available for all 3 branches and they rarely need to argue over it.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Tactical Capabilities): As mentioned before, Nachmerian officers are the cream of Nachmerian society. They are selected from the best Nachmere has physically and mentally. When combined with most of them having prepared for their role since their early teens, and with Nachmerian officer training being extremely demanding, they are usually very good tactical commanders. The Nachmerian army officer finds him self more at home in quick changing armored warfare than in defensive battles, but is in no means incompetent in the latter. He is well acquainted not only with the abilities of his unit but also of all other units around him. While not the best in theoretical and doctrinal issues, they are very agressive(adhering to the principles of war), have very good ties with their troops(as they themselves were enlisted men at one point), and are expected(and do) to lead every assault, volunteer for every mission and never give up.

Assessment of Officer Corps (Strategic Capabilities): See above. While possibly not brilliant theorists, the higher echelons of Nachmerian forces are usually original thinkers, aggressive, and have a positive approach("anything can be done").
Assessment of Logistical Capabilities: The RNA is very capable logistically as long as it is fighting a land war with land supply lines. Things are of course greatly complicated by over seas conflict. However all 3 branches have worked extremely hard on creating a system of air and maritime resupply for major offensive operations. This included unified supply computerization, purchase of strategic lift capabilities, purchase of maritime cargo capabilities and more.

Personnel(land forces): ~100,000,000(25,000,000 standing,75,000,000 reserve )
Combat Personnel: ~45,000,000

Air Forces

Fighter Aircraft Used: IF-222 "Nemesis"(F-23 modified).
Strategic Bombers Used: LRB-213 "Wolf Fang"(strategic super-sonic lolbomber), B-52, B-2.
Ground Attack Aircraft Used (Incl. Gunships and Attack Helicopters): SF-20 Hammer(F-15 SE), LF-218(light figter/advanced trainer), AH-95 Dagger(dual rotor attack helicopter).
Air Transport Used :C-10 'Minotaur' strategic cargo aircraft, KC-747 'Galt' aerial refueling tanker, C-130 tactical cargo, Mil-26 transport, HCH-33 tansport helo, UH-60 transport helo.
Number of Aircraft: 220,000(transport helos belong to army)
Personnel: 80,000,000(of which 5 million reserve)

Naval Forces

Number of Frigates: 2,000
Number of Destroyers: 2.000
Number of Cruisers: 2,000
Number of Aircraft Carriers: 200
Number of Amphibious Assault Ships: 4.000
Number of Submarines: 1,500
Number of Capital/Battleships/Dreadnoughts: 400
Personnel: 122,000,000(Includes 2,000,000 Marines)(2,000,000 reserve)

Paramilitary Groups: Nachmerian Militia

Stated Purpose of Paramilitary Group(s): To Defend the Crown and Constitution
Small Arms Used: virtually all used by the regular forces but also many other civilian owned. The militia is not supplied with small arms by the Crown, its members bring their own.
Body Armor Used: as with regular forces, although far less common.
Infantry Support Weapons Used: mostly UBGLs and mortars.
Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle Weapons Used: Supplied with LAAAB-100 RPGs and ATGMs by the crown.
Vehicles Used: mostly non military trucks and offroad vehicles. some branches have AFVs. notably many branches have horse-infantry.
Brief Summary of Training and Recruitment: The Nachmerian Militia is an all voluntary force with very little government support. In fact there are thousands of small forces who are considered a part of the militia. These organizations stem from a need by Nachmerians who were not fit for service to still enjoy the good record of military service and avoid dishonor. However, as time passed the militia has changed an is far from a group of misfits. With the age of reserve service limited to 38, many Nachmerians who finish serving their time in reserve elect to be part of local militia branches. As a result most of the tactical commanders are ex-RNA or Royal Marine NCOs and officers. Equipment is mostly attained through donations and personal purchases. However branches that have a mutual training program with the RNA receive supplies- mainly of ammunition and anti-tank weapons.

Brief Summary of Standard Doctrine: There is no standard doctrine. Most branches are now members of a RNA program to train and arm militias. As these usually base membership on locality(there are some exceptions), each unit usually has training and equipment fitting its areas topography and features. As a whole the militia is mostly a defensive infantry based organization and most units plan to either bolster regular lines or in case of occupation act as guerrillas and herrass and disrupt enemy supply lines and soft targets.

Are the organizations primarily Offensive or Defensive?: Defensive.
Are the organizations under a clear Military command, under clear command of the State, or mostly independent?: Mostly independent in theory. In practice since the application of RNA training programs most branches are in very deep ties with local military command and more or less under command of the RNA.
Is there significant civilian support for the Paramilitary groups?: extremely so.
Personnel: 400,000,000
Combat Personnel: The entire militia is combat personnel. They act locally. Do remember however the membership age is mostly 16-70(well 16-death theoretically).

Are the branches of the Military united with a clear command structure for use between branches?: Yes.
Are Strategic Decisions decided by Military or Civilian leadership?: Civilian leadership, but most of them are ex-military officers usually of higher ranks.
Are the branches more or less united, with open co-operation between the branches?: Yes.
Are there any enmities between branches?: not beyond the silly jokes level.
Is the overall Strategic Doctrine Defensive or Offensive?: Defensive in that Nachmere is unlikely to initiate a war. Offensive in that it preaches aggressive moves to finish the war early and far from domestic soil as possible, and preaches constant tactical and operative level initiative.
Nuclear Option?: Yes. It is considered a last resort.
How many?: I have never really bothered to count.
Via Submarine?: yes
Via Strategic Bomber?:yes
Via land-based ICBM?:yes
Via land-based TBM?: yes
Also tactical nuclear by gun and rocket arty and CAS aircraft.

The Kingdom of Nachmere

Level VII

The Kingdom of Nachmere fields a military of high quality. While M-SAD believes the Marshite military enjoys an advantage in equipment, the Nacherian training regime puts them roughly on the level of Marshites. An intelligently designed doctrine with a similarl officer corp to the Marshite war machine makes them a tough foe to face on the field of battle. In many cases they parallel Marshite societal theories in the production of a warrior society and any war is expected to be long and grueling. In most cases, a direct comparison comes up relatively even. Marshites do enjoy an edge in arms and armaments, but nothing considered to be war winning. Looking outside of the one on one qualitative estimation of the Nacherian military, M-SAD starts to see some cracks. The Kingdom's Air Force is large, intelligent, well-trained, and well-equipped but is outnumbered and somewhat behind the Marshite curve of aerial warfare. On the high seas, the Marshite Navy enjoys a massive advantage in expeditionary capability and across every field save for the inclusion of supercarriers, which in some ways is mitigated by the vast difference in amphibious assault ships and escort carriers.

Any grading thus is broken down into two very basic questions and their follow-up: Can the Church invade the Kingdom and could the Kingdom invade the Church and, in either case, what would the likely result be?

M-SAD believes that the Kingdom has a limited, if potent, expeditionary capability. While it is hard to imagine a strategy scenario in which a Nacherian invasion could be left unmolested for any period of time, it is certainly conceivable that they could launch an invasion by deploying a concerted and concetrated amount of force in a small area. This would negate our superior numbers and fits the Nacherian doctrine of aggression. Of course, once they get to the Holy Land, they find themselves woefully outnumbered and outgunned in every phase of warfare by a people devoted to defensive warfare. M-SAD does not believe the Kingdom would be able to achieve victory, but the skill of its soldierly and officer corp would ensure it would be a bloody mess.

An invasion of the Kingdom is the second situation to consider. The expeditionary capability of the Marshite military far outstrips that of the Kingdom, but it is expected that any invasion force would necessarily suffer heavily before landing could be initiated. The superior numbers of the Army are neutralized by the numbers of the Kingdom's Militia. While not considered to be on the same level of the Marshite Militia due in large part to their equipment and mission functionality, they are considered capable and deadly. Brought in with the consideration that the Nacherian military will be aiding them, and an invasion becomes a very bloody proposition. With the Nacherian air force likely to rule the day due to the distance between nations, a long-term war is both likely and unkind as they press further. It is here however that topography and the Nacherian nature comes into play as a positive for the Marshite invasion. The Nacherian doctrine is exceptionally intelligent and well-thought out, but it runs into the teeth of Marshite strengths- heavily armored pushes are viper struck by Marshite defensive doctrine, and the scale and breadth of the Marshite counter-attack as well as the Nacherian habit of officers leading attacks (and being killed in quick intervals as a result) that could turn a Nacherian offensive into a Marshite offensive capable of reaching the innards of the Kingdom that are far more friendly to the invader.

However, the fact is that victory or defeat in the Kingdom is not up to the Marshite invasion force. Should the Kingdom show unusual restraint, logistical issues and the constant heavy skirmishing and engagement as the front expands as well as ceaseless guerrilla warfare would likely force any and all offensive movements to end. Any victory would be long and bloody; defeat is a possibility.
