On the aircrafts surface is only stamped the emblem. As a flag, the whole square :P
Thanks for asking.

This marking is carried on the top and bottom of both wings, and on the tail fins of all military aircraft. The squadron insignia is carried on the fuselage.

The current national insignia is carried in Four positions, on both sides of the tail, on the upper left wing and on the lower right wing

The Red/Gold iron cross is the former insignia used, until 1968, and was painted in the standard 6 position, both wings and the fuselage. It is also sometimes painted on the rudder.

 :eyebrow:

Your statement is so very complimentary, I can't help wondering if you're just being facetious. :) My flag is not based on any pre-existing flag (that I am aware of). I just chose some symbolism and arranged it in point-vector format. The Huey and the Fokker are photos I found "out there," saved to my hard drive, and slapped the Wochik shield on using an old copy of Photoshop. I did the same with my car:

gwrachbyd uses the red dragon (as seen on the flag) as it's insignia on it's aircraft. though this comes in various forms
for example the elite 2nd "black dragon" squadron uses a red dragon rearing up on two legs on a solid black aircraft while the 72nd "rise" squadron use one much like the one on the flag only in black overlaid on a green and white triangle.
due to the anarchical nature of the gwrachbyd government each region has it's own SOP regarding insignia which squadrons operating in/from those regions base the design of their insignia as we've found with modern aircraft and beyond visual range missiles means that insignia are a low priority so instead of using them to identify friend from foe we use them for squadron/unit identification. primary identification is via IFF transponder. should both the primary and secondary transponder fail pilots are taught to follow pre designated "safe fly zones" when nearing bases that take them on a fly by angle passed the base where they are to drop to near stall speed and signal using either navigation lights or by tipping the wings (gwrachbyd aero-space force use a complex morse based code and an "aircraft sign" base on tipping wings in a pre arranged fashion)

And I thought Katothwa Re was convoluted... You know, it's entirely possible to have a set of insignia for unit identification that is separate from the national markings, and it's even possible to fit both kinds of markings onto one aircraft. Also, while it's true that the percentage of encounters that take place outside visual range are on the increase, I doubt that situations wherein a visual identifying mark is valuable will ever really be eliminated completely. I applaud your effort to be forward-thinking, but I think that you are discarding a good practice before it has truly outlived its usefulness.

We basicaly use the 4 pointed star from our flag. In white on a blue circel for regular craft and in dark grey on a lighter grey circle for low visibility aircraft.
