Etymology
Calmerica comes from the word for friendly travel in the dead language of Guitanese, "merieheca". It was shortened to "merehca" around 1700 when the Guitanese explorers settled on the islands. The Swedish settlers on the island had a word for friendly travel as well, "calitena". The Swedish and Guitanese living in peace with each other led to the languages being combined and evolved. The two words for friendly travel became "calim". Friendly travelers were called "calimers". When Palmerians settled on the islands in the late 1800's, most of the natives were kicked off, forced into slavery, or killed. Their word for "friendly travelers" was used ironically to name the new land "Calmerica".

Numocktetan to Guitanese; 1000 AD - 1645 AD
Not much is know about the islands before the Swedish and Guitanese. Proof of life on the islands dates back to 1000 AD. The natives have a name for themselves, roughly translated to English, "numocktetan"; NU-mok-tay-tan. The Numocktetan people lived on the islands from approximately 1000 AD onward. Stories and legends exist about the Numocktetan people, but since no full-blooded Numocktetans are alive, there's no way to verify any of it. The first known interaction with outsiders as recorded by the numocktetan people was in 1135 AD. Travelers from the nation of Jalandia came in search of gold, hearing rumors of uncharted islands containing massive amounts of it. There was in fact no gold on the island, however rare gems, unknown vegetables, and mass amounts of rice did exist. The Numocktetan people agreed to trade for furs, wheat, and tobacco, not realizing what the gems were worth in other lands. It is recorded that the Jalandians received 60 pounds of gems for a few furs, two buckets of wheat, and a pound of tobacco.

Nothing else is found about the Numocktetan people until 1200 AD, when it is recorded a massive "god-like wall of blue", possibly a hurricane or tsunami, swept through killing many of the people and livestock on the islands. It's also written that around this time nearly 1/3 of the people living on the islands, approximately 30,000, filled up canoes with belongings and headed east toward mainland called "Meria". Nothing else is recorded about those that left the islands. The estimated 60,000 that stayed grew to 62,000 within a few years, and close to 65,000 by 1500 AD. Around then is the time records become more reliable and consistent. The islanders experienced several more natural disasters, and soon the islands became plagued with diseases, killing a good number of people. Many of the Numocktetan people left for Meria, including all known scribes and record keepers. At the time, in present day Palmeria/ Samsungistan, around 2-3 million people were leaving in Meria. Trade was rampant as coin money became a popular substitute for trading goods. Eventually, with naval advancements that included new ways of sailing, rowing, etc. traders made their way to the islands again, including the Numocktetan on their trade routes for the gems and rice that existed there.

In 1621 AD, a trader and businessman named LaFoca Sandersson came from West Bay, Meria to the Numocktetan islands. He brought with him the first guns the Numocktetan people had ever seen - one shot muskets, produced by Hammermill Steel Co in West Bay, which LaFoca owned. They agreed to bring 10 guns every month in exchange for 15 pounds of gems and 15 pounds of rice. The Numocktetan people agreed, thus creating the first trade contract between another land and the Numocktetan islands. Every deal made from then on was recorded in logbooks that still exist today in museums across Calmerica. In 1626, Sandersson made a proposition - 20 able bodied men that could work fields in exchange for 300 Mas (equivalent to $25). The Sandersson Sign Off, as it was later known by, was signed on May 23, 1626, starting the slave trade in Meria. 45 armed men came and took the slaves they wanted, but also captured 50 women for themselves, which was a big put off to the Numocktetan people. However, since their only weapons consisted of small swords, spears, and slings, no fight was put up. Sandersson did deliver the weapons promised, however did not give them any ammo for the muskets. In agreement for 10 additional women each time they came, ammo was provided for all the guns.

Trips continued like this until nearly all young women were off the islands, as ships came back every two-three weeks, thus producing no more children. 100 women were left of age to bear children, and all lived in hiding for fear of when the Merians showed up. Sandersson became the wealthiest man in Meria and was called "Father of the Slave", "Master of Men", and "Rich of Rich", owning nearly five dozen slaves, four women, and 300 acres of land. Eventually he sent his own personal militia to pick up more slaves from the islands. When it was reported no more young men or women were left, now six years after the trade began, Sandersson sent his entire army to kill whoever was left of the Numocktetan. The women got on canoes trying to flee, but all were captured. The 50 or so older men tried to fight off the Merian soldiers, having accumulated much weaponry, and almost succeeded, but the overpowering soldiers eventually killed them all, took anything of value, and burned the rest. A fleet was sent back to pick up livestock, harvest the farmland, and check for survivors one week later. Sandersson now had 72 slaves, owned six females, and 300 acres of land. Sandersson's personal army consisted of 10+ catapults, 12 battering rams, and 3,000 armed soldiers, as recorded in Sandersson's still existing diary. He wanted kingship of Meria, but the reigning Henry Van Woldenburg saw Sandersson as a threat that needed to be eliminated.

In 1635, Sandersson had reach the age of 50. He no longer did any work himself, his slaves were beginning to deteriorate, and his soldiers were no longer as fast or as accurate as they once were. He sent out four ships with explorers and soldiers to see what had become of the Numocktetan islands. Seven were living on the main island, and 23 settlers from Jaland (formerly Jalandia) occupied the smaller surrounding islands. They all refused to trade and threatened Sandersson's explorers if they didn't leave. Sandersson's men instead asked to stay on any islands and to live on land that wasn't in use, marking the first recorded instance Merians settled on the Numocktetan islands. When Sandersson didn't hear back from his explorers in a month, he sent another ship full of soldiers. They found what the explorers had done, and joined them - only ten remained loyal to Sandersson and took a ship back reporting what happened. Infuriated, Sandersson wrote a letter to the general of the Merian army, whom Sandersson had provided several slaves and women. The general sent 14,000 soldiers to the islands demanding one of three things: the explorers to come back as slaves, all the women to come back, or 300 pounds of goods not including cattle.

The Numocktetan did not have hardly any goods, and instead voted to send the explorers back. However there were 43 explorers, 23 Jaland settlers, and only 7 Numocktetan people. After much arguing, the army decided to take everything, assuming that would better appease the general and Sandersson. Many men were killed by muskets, but even more men were killed trying to defend what little they had left. The older men and young children were slaughtered in the event now known as the "Overthrow of Old Freedom". Everyone else got loaded up into cages and brought back to Meria, along with valuables and cattle.

Sandersson, pleased, payed the general for his service. They then plotted to overthrow King Woldenburg and in 1636, they succeeded. King Henry Van Woldenburg was executed by hanging. The self appointed LaFoca Sandersson sent ships to the farthest corners of the earth, bringing in slaves, women, goods, and cartographers. In Sandersson's missions, from 1636-40, 3,000 slaves were captured, 6,000 women brought back, over fifteen tons of goods brought in, and 11 cartographers hired to draw the world for him.

Although considered brutal, harsh, and inhumane, Sandersson's accomplishments were far greater than any of his day. He invented the compass, started the slave trade for Meria, and owned more land than anyone in ancient Calmerican/ Merian history. He was also one of the richest Kings in pre-modern history. The islands were no longer of interest to anyone until the Guitanese settled there in 1645.

Guitanese Age; 1645 AD - 1650 AD
In 1645, Guitanese nomads arrived at the Numocktetan islands. Tired, out of supplies, and finding the islands had sheep and cattle roaming about, they anchored in near the largest island. 52 were in the fleet of four Guitanese ships. A civil war was taking place in the land of Guitan, the King had been killed, anarchy was in effect, and most wanted out. The 52 that arrived at the islands were mainly farmers and sailors, however 6 soldiers were also among the group, so were 3 teachers, 2 scribes, a doctor, and a priest. It's recorded they captured and penned in the animals on the islands, cleaned and fixed what was left of several huts, unloaded what little food they had left, and started living.

By 1650 several other Guitanese ships had heard about the islands, and messages were sent back to the homeland - 'Any seeking peace and refuge were welcome, bring any supplies and food you can get your hands on.' 23,000 or so people were now living in "New Guitan". A small militia of 200 with muskets, swords, spears, rams, and horses had been established. A clinic was built, medicine brought in, schoolhouses established, a temple for worship to the Guitanese gods constructed, all the makings of a civilization. No contact was ever made with Meria, for all they knew, it was unoccupied. The land was barely visible from the eastern most point of the main island, and no one ventured beyond that for fear of heavy currents, sharp reefs, and the fact that the main island was plenty big enough already.

The time came, with politicians gradually arriving at the islands, they decided elections for a leader should take place. No money system was established, rather an honor code was in effect, and so far it had held up without a problem. However as more and more came to the islands, an immigration process needed to be established, more militia recruited, and with a low level of crime springing up, laws established with a leader to enforce them.

Among the 10 wanting to run were farmers, the doctor, one of the teachers, three politicians, and the head of the militia. Votes were counted and in first place was the teacher with 14,000 votes. The others were split between the militia head, some for the farmers, and the doctor placed second with 5,000. Nearly 1,000 though wrote "No government" on the paper used, indicating there may be problems once this government was in place. Things ran smoothly with Dalambur Kitziani in charge, but that didn't last long. Movements to return to the old way of life grew, including members of the militia. Eventually a fight took place out in the open, with gunfire, fists, gardening tools, anything people could use to show government was not the answer, and that this was exactly what they came here to escape. But Kitziani reminded the people of the situation on Guitan - civil war. He gave a speech about how that was happening on New Guitan as well and in the end people listened. They agreed with the teacher, all promising not to fight anymore. Rather, an open debate was scheduled, with a vote for what should be done. 80% approved of the new government. The other 20%, while kept anonymous, were free to leave if they wanted.

Several thousand did, to Meria, and let them know of all the happenings. LaFoca Sandersson, still in charge of the land, ordered the general to send fleets to the islands of Numocktetan. Those fit would be gathered as slaves, the rest left alone. The ones who came to Meria from New Guitan were condemned to slavery on the spot. Sandersson had a tight grip on the land and was not letting go. Nearly 7 million people were under his control now. He wanted to colonize the islands once and for all putting the general in charge of it. The ones not sold into slavery could stay under Merian rule, Sandersson decided. When the Merian fleets got to Numocktetan and met the Guitanese people, they had other ideas.


New Guitan - Meria War; 1650 AD - 1652 AD
The population of the islands was about 20,000, far larger than expected. There were, however, 40,000 sent to the islands in July of 1650. The people of New Guitan refused to leave, and threatened to fight back with their militia, now the size of 4,000. Not that it would do much good, but the islanders were hoping the threats would make the Merians leave. Through much hand signaling/ arguing, the message was sent. New Guitan would not be abandoned. They were open to trade, co-existence even, but forced slavery was simply not an option. The fleets returned to Meria with this message, and Sandersson was outraged. He ordered double that amount of soldiers sent back, and without warning, to kill anyone fighting back. Capture all who surrendered and bring them back as slaves.

The fleets went back, met with Kitziani, and killed him point blank. The militia started firing, but were no match. Once all of them were either shot or killed by sword, the people surrendered. Women from the ages of 14-30 were captured, along with every man from 14-50. Everyone else was given an ultimatum: leave the islands, or stay under Merian rule. The islanders chose the latter, but planned a fight as soon as the fleets left. Message was sent back to Guitan - 'The Merian people are taking over, forcing citizens into slavery, raping the women', and reports were made that LaFoca Sandersson was a corrupt dictator. Guitan only held 3 million citizens post civil war, but sent 100,000 troops to meet the Merians. August 5th, 1650, they arrived at Meria demanding a meeting with King Sandersson. The Guitan soldiers ordered release of their people, or face war. The Merian army was nearly 200,000 in all, double the Guitan troops. Sandersson offered to let half go back, then offered half the women as well but the Guitanese heard enough and fired at Sandersson. He got shot seven times, three piercing his heart. Battle started in the castle as the nineteen representatives sent to meet with Sandersson and his general fought their way out, seven making it back to the fleets. All men suited up and stormed the beaches. It was war.

Towns were caught off guard, as the castle lay near the ocean and without a King, no orders were being given. The general, also, was killed during the soldiers' escape. Anarchy was now in effect. The Guitan raided through towns, cities, villages, anything they came upon until they found the jail. Merian soldiers met them in the city of Tremuiber, where the prison holding the Guitanese until they could be sold into slavery was. A seven hour long fight ensued, with much bloodshed. Of the estimated 17,000 Merian soldiers sent to meet them, none survived. The 100,000 Guitan troops were left mostly intact with 90,000. The town was burnt down and all captured Guitanese taken back to the fleets. They got shipped back with a group of soldiers to the islands, in small groups at a time, while the Guitanese soldiers left in Meria fought off any who came toward the beach. Its recorded another 30,000 were killed over the next 38 hours - how long it took to get all the Guitanese off Meria and back to New Guitan. Most were Merian, as the army was slow, ineffective, and hadn't seen action in months. They were no match for the Guitanese, who'd been fighting itself for years. When all were returned, the Guitenese soldiers left Meria as well, a huge path of destruction and hatred behind it. Meria would not soon forget what happened, nor would they forgive the people of New Guitan for what happened during the "Guitan Breakout".

A portion of the soldiers who'd freed the New Guitan citizens remained on the islands, per instruction from the Guitanese King. He wished the people of New Guitan well, and offered trade if requested. The King also made it known that whenever New Guitan needed help again, they'd be there, waiting. New Guitan celebrated their people's return, along with the other slaves who came with them from Meria. Mostly Numocktetan people, several hundred of them, but also around 1,000 other Merian slaves from lands unknown. New Guitan was once again at peace, although scarred by the death of Dalambur Kitziani.

By September 1650, a new leader had been elected - the doctor who ran in the first election, Wambass Dalavez. He formed the "New Guitan Armed Forces", including the 40,000 or so soldiers that stayed behind from Guitan, and the rest of the militia, along with new recruits, sign-ups, etc, putting the total New Guitan Armed Forces at 43,500. New Guitan also made plans for trade with other nations, built merchant ships, combat ships, eventually operating two fleets by 1652. There had been no sign of the Merians at all during this time.

Palmerian Civil War; 1652 AD - 1700 AD
Several contenders for Kingship emerged in Palmeria during the days after "Guitan Breakout". Three were high ranking military officers, two were regarded politicians, and one was a teacher, notorious for making several advances in mathematics, notably algebra. They debated and fought, while rebellion and demands of action against New Guitan took place across the country. There was no method of electing a leader, but no replacement had been named by Sandersson either, leaving the candidates to fight themselves for the spot. The teacher withdrew after three days time, followed closely by one of the military men. General Beckshtii, Laticlavius Smaan, Baron of Greenlandia Palmer Bonwicker, and Head of City Development of Meria James Breckton were the remaining contenders. No matter who won, the main issue is what the reaction would be to New Guitan. As a method of election was created, much time passed.

It was now October of 1652 - Meria lay in a state of anarchy, New Guitan flourished under peaceful rule, and the citizens of Meria revolted, attacking soldiers and other government officials on a daily basis. Finally, on October 10th, Palmer Bonwicker declared himself King of Meria. His private army helped him secure the capital, where he vowed action against New Guitan. However the General and Laticlavius Smaan tried to seize the throne from Bonwicker, saying he claimed the throne wrongfully. Towns took sides, fighting each other over who should be King - the western cities mainly falling in with the Baron, and the eastern cities fighting for General Beckshtii. The West appeared to be losing, as a great deal of the military fought for the East under the General's charge, while the West maintained a lot of political power. Cities were torn apart as opposing groups fought in the streets daily, rioting, looting, and commiting acts of random violence against believers of one side or the other.

Everything came to a head in December of 1652, when the town of Brockshire was captured by Palmer Forces. The citizens and imprisoned soldiers were forced to stand outside in the snow and freezing cold temperatures, naked, until they all froze to death. When other cities got word, nearly 203 of the estimated 509 on the side of Palmer Bonwicker switched their allegiance, calling the torture inhumane, and morally wrong. Fighting continued, but the East had a new spirit, capturing and destroying six or so cities by March of 1653. Special fire was used that couldn't be put out by water, a new invention of Sandersson's. It allowed houses and military establishments to be destroyed nearly 5 times as fast - causing citizens to begin fleeing the country.

Some went north, through the Lakota Mountain Range to what was referred to as the "outer rim" - no record of the land beyond the mountains had ever been recorded, but it had to be better than the conditions of Meria. Others left on ships to New Guitan, while some trekked the Merian Ocean seeking futher removal from Merian life. Most, however, chose to stay and fight for their side, trying to eventually unify the country despite no one agreeing on anything. July 17th, General Beckshtii was killed in his sleep. To this day the killer has not been identified, though experts suspect his wife, who was a personal friend of the Baron.

The murder of Beckshtii proved to be the thing the West needed to get the upper hand. Laticlavius Smaan was not a good leader, and repeatedly led his men to their deaths for unnecessary reasons - map misreadings, falling into traps, traveling too far without enough rations, and other trivial reasons. Smaan lost 16 battles when he took over the Eastern Army, only winning two. General Mortimer of the Palmer Forces had won at least 26 battles, losing only 10. He remains one of the most infamous military commanders to this day, having shown superior strategy at a time period where the main battle plan was simply to run and shoot. Though the Palmers didn't have numbers, their tactics proved successful, eventually winning them the war.

942,000 were estimated to have been killed b 1656 because of the war, which was far from over. Laticlavius Smaan and Palmer Bonwicker continued to fight, while the Head of City Development James Breckton did "silent campaigning", pushing for people to get behind him while keeping it secret from big name politicians and military leaders.

Nearly 7,000 signed a petition to the high courts asking them to appoint James Breckton King of Meria. But the courts had no such power. This still revealed a gaping hole in the country - no leadership. While Laticlavus military skills were impressive, his strategy severely lacked. The Palmer Forces appeared to be winning, though in reality, the entire country was losing. 1.2 million dead by 1657, most civilians fighting civilians. All soldiers were diverted to the war effort leaving no law enforcement in individual towns, especially the ones on the outskirts of Meria. Towns were captured, re captured, burned to the ground, citizens mass murdered, prisoners abused and mistreated in prisons, and medics were far too short on hand. The country tore itself apart while a few hundred miles southwest, the people of New Guitan were living life to the fullest.

Executive Branch: Diarchs-Panel-Governors
The two Diarchs are the supreme authority in the land. What they say is final, and in most cases cannot be overturned. See the Libertas for more details. The Diarchs appoint Panel members, ten secretaries each in charge of a separate, important part of the nation. The secretaries most notably handle foreign affairs, duties of war, passing legislation, monitoring the economy, and they appoint one special adviser. The Panel forms inter-departments, either permanent or selective, to serve the nation regarding a specific area of their department (ie: Economy - Commerce, Labor). The Governors are voted into office by the people of the province and approved by the Diarchs/ Panel. If the Governor is rejected by the Diarchs and Panel members, re-elections take place with said Governor left out. That vote is final.
Legal Branch: Supreme Court-Provincial Judges-Local Judges
The Supreme Court of Calmerica consists of 7 esteemed judges handpicked by the panel and approved by the Diarchs. They vote on legislature matters, criminal matters, and various other matters. All votes can be overturned with a unanimous decision of the Diarchs. Two provincial judges preside in each province, to handle provincial criminal matters, and issues pertaining to the particular province but not to the nation as a whole. Two local judges also preside in major cities and towns. Ordinances cannot be passed in direct conflict to the Libertas or Diarchal law.
Military Branch: Secretary of War-Military Generals-Chain of Command
The branches of the Military are as follow:
-Calmerica Ground Army- The soldiers on the front lines, in the trenches.
-Calmerica Special Forces- These brave men make up the best of the best and generally are selected from existing branches.
-Calmerica Border Patrol- The Border Patrol keep our borders safe, and prevent illegal immigrants from getting in.
-Calmerica Militia- The Militia's purpose is to defend the homeland, and is made up of regular civilians, each led by a company of Ground Army infantry.
-Calmerica Air Army- The CAA is made up of fighter jets, stealth bombers, air escorts, etc.
-Calmierca Naval Army- The CNA is made up of destroyers, submarines, underwater nuclear bases, and other such things relating to naval warfare.
-Calmerica Coast Patrol- Much larger patrol branch, the CP keep out illegal immigrants, save drown victims, guard the coastline, and may be called to attack missions when the navy requires it.

Economy Overview: The Diarchy of Calmerica operate under a capitalist mixed economy. Companies are privately (84%) and publicly (16%) owned. The government has little intervention in the domestic economic affairs. Calmerica trades primarily with nations of the Noctur region in which it resides. Calmerica has one of the largest uranium supplies in the world, and is renowned for its drilling, arms manufacturing/ exporting, green energy systems, and mineral mining. Its major imports include automobiles, wheat, timber, clothing, cotton, and electronics.

Military Service: All men fit for duty that are drafted are required to serve in the militia for at least one year, but can stay if requested. Should that be the case, they must go through the Military Academy. All men and women fit for duty can join any branch of the military at the age of 16, and upon joining will train for 2 years, then be assigned a company. You remain in that company for 2 years. During this time two tours of duty are required. Tours last 6-8 months, with a 4 month break in between. Soldiers can tour up to 6 times, then must re-enlist, going through Military Academy again, or take up an officer's role at the OTA. Women are not allowed to serve in combat positions. Some choose to remain in the military until retirement...which is at the age of 50 in the military, unless they are at the rank of Commander, in which case they can be promoted to Major General and take up a Lead Officer position. There can only be 5 of each General position at a time, per branch. All enlisted positions, as well as Warrant Officers and Military Police carry three classes (ie: Private 3rd Class - Private 2nd Class - Private 1st Class, 1st being the highest). Promotion is decided by commanding officer and generals. While it's possible to skip class, it is not possible to skip rank (ie: Cannot become a Corporal without being a Specialist first).
Training: All males fit for duty must serve in the Militia for 12 months. This can be in any capacity (kitchen crew, weapons factory, cache maintainer, infantry, pilot, etc), but refusal to serve results in arrest. Those entering the Militia must pass a physical, drug test, and other types of physical/ psychological tests before entering the Militia Training Camp. MTC lasts five weeks, and consists of weapons training, martial arts training, lifesaving techniques, survival techniques, and for a select few, pilot training and leadership training. Those entering pilot training serve as Militia Airmen, an elite group of Militia forces. They fly, parachute, etc, and are expected to serve beyond the Militia. Those who undergo leadership training lead Militia teams into battle, serving directly under Officers of the CGA. Both pilot and leadership training is an additional three weeks. All this time counts toward the 12 month tour.

For those enlisting in the CGA, CNA, and CAA, preliminary physical and pschylogical testing must occur. Then they go through the Military Academy, headquartered in Rios, Portland, NIC. There are four locations, all in the province of Portland, each for separate branches of service - Ground Army, Naval Army, Air Army, and the Officer Training Academy. The CGA, CNA, and CAA branches last two years. Training is extensive, thorough, and is comparable to Special Forces training. An estimated 25-35% drop out of or fail every Academy class. All CNA cadets are parachute, SCUBA, weapon, lifesaving, martial arts, and survival trained. CGA cadets are trained in everything except SCUBA, with the addition of explosives training - both how to locate and disarm, but also how to make. CAA undergo every type of training except SCUBA, with the addition of pilot training, air tactical training, and other specific training pertaining to air warfare.

Select cadets are chosen to undergo Special Forces training. It is completely optional, as the training is rigorous. VERY rigorous. Of those that undergo Special Forces training at a station unknown to civilians, about 60% fail or drop out. Training includes advanced hand to hand combat, martial arts training - all are expected to be black belts in combat submissive wrestling, jiu-jitsu, tae-kwon-doe, and kickboxing - and weapons training. All Special Forces soldiers are at the expert marksman level for both long range, standard, and short range weaponry. Most of the Special Forces soldiers come from the CGA academy, which in turn has made it the most prestigious branch despite the CNA carrying most the expenditures and manpower. The CAA is far less common, and usually esteemed pilots from the CAA are chosen to switch over to Special Forces - very few CAA cadets have ever made it through Special Forces training.

At the Officer Training Academy, which is far less intense, training lasts 12 months. Cadets undergo leadership training, weapons training, pilot training, parachute training, less extensive hand to hand combat training, and explosives training. Officers are leaders by trade, soldiers by title. Few undergo more than ten minutes of combat in their lives. They serve as leaders, strategists, and future military leaders of the nation. 85% of all Lead Officers went through the OTA rather than enlisted service.

Upon graduation from the Military Academy, enlisted cadets then choose a focused area of service - infantry, artillery, vehicle, pilot, fighter pilot, medical, engineering, tactical infantry, heavy infantry, sniper, etc. Each focus training occurs at the Academy, although not technically part of the Academy, all cadets have graduated at this point. Its more like a crash course to see where the enlisted soldier would best serve. One week from that point, the soldier receives his rank, official uniforms, assigned company, deployment, and date of deployment. Most will be ranked Private 2nd Class, the lower quarter being Private 3rd Class, and the higher quarter being Private 1st Class. Deployment is usually 6-8 weeks from assignment day.

If there are openings, soldiers can undergo Patrol training - Border for CGA and CAA, and Coastal for CNA and CAA. This training is one week, and results in deployment to a Patrol Garrison. Border Patrol is very, very small, and only exists in the province of Caleeb. Currently only 865 Border Patrol soldiers are enlisted, compared to the 59,433 Coastal Patrol soldiers enlisted. Of the 865 BP soldiers enlisted, over two thirds are under the rank of Specialist. The other third are either reassigned Sergeants, or Officers. The highest ranking Border Patrol member is Chief Officer Walli Gordsson.

Calmerica Ground Army—"Trained for everything, fearful of nothing"

The muscle of the military. Established with the creation of Calmerica in 1876, the Calmerican Ground Army is the longest standing branch of the Calmerica Military. It is the second largest branch, next to the Navy. The CGA has been involved in every war in Calmerican history, though always being accompanied by the CNA. The first motto of the CGA, and the unofficial motto today is "For country, for neighbor".

The CGA (as well as the Special Forces and Border Patrol) is organized as such: Regiment (10 Units; 1,000,000 men)-Unit (10 Divisions; 100,000 men)-Division (10 Battalions; 10,000 men)-Battalion (10 Platoons; 1,000 men)-Platoon (10 Companies; 100 men)-Company (2 Teams; 10 men)-Team (5 men). A Regiment is always led by a Captain. A Unit is always led by a Captain. A Division is generally led by a Colonel. A Battalion is generally led by a Lieutenant. A Platoon is generally led by a Major. A Company is generally led by a Sergeant or Corporal, as is a Team.

Never less than one Battalion is deployed in a tour of duty. Generally soldiers in the CGA are moved in Battalions or Divisions.

Calmerica Air Army—"Valor in flight"

The Calmerica Air Army isn't near as big as the Ground Army or Border Patrol, however it's full of brave men and women who take to the skies and bomb the enemies, take out threats to the nation of Calmerica, and escort ground armies to battle. Without the Air Army there would be no chance of survival for the ground troops. The CAA is usually transported to battle via aircraft carrier, and as with the CGA, no Air Army mission has ever occurred without naval support. The Air Army was established in 1933.

The Calmerican Air Army is organized as such: Division (2 Wings; 100 Pilots)-Wing (5 Groups; 50 Pilots)-Group (2 Squadrons; 10 Pilots)-Squadron (2 1/2 Teams; 5 Pilots)-Team (2 Pilots).
A Division is always led by a Captain. A Wing is usually led by a Colonel. A Group is usually led by a Major. A Squadron is usually led by a Sergeant. A Team is usually led by a Sergeant or Corporal.

The mission always decides how many pilots are assigned to a battle. In escort missions, its always at least a Team if traveling beyond a green zone. In dogfights, never less than a Group is assigned. In a Battle or Fight never less than one Wing is assigned. Bombing missions vary, but usually its a Squadron--3 Bombers and two Escort Fighters.

Calmerica Naval Army—"Defend the waters; Win the wars"

Most military resources are diverted to naval units, which has been the case ever since 1879 with the establishment of the Naval Forces of Calmerica (now the Calmerican Naval Army). Calmerica maintains a naval force of 1.1 million and 2,110 ships. This includes aircraft carriers, transports, landing ships, movable docks, cruisers, destroyers, battleships, submarines, frigates, and amphibious personal machines. The Navy is used in open waters to defend the Diarchy, attack enemy coastlines, and transport soldiers and aircraft when necessary. The motto indicates that if the waters aren't under our control, we will lose the war...and thats the code these men and women live by.

The Calmerica Naval Army is organized differently than all other branches of the Calmerica Military. All Naval ships/ units are split into 7 fleets, each led by an Admiral. An additional 2 fleets belong to the Coast Patrol, led by one Admiral. Each contain a different amount of ships and it is up to each Admiral as to how Brigades, Divisions, Groups, Teams, and Ships are organized and assigned missions. Each fleet has specific responsibilities such as tactical missile use, submarine attacks, amphibious warfare, support and transportation, and advanced naval warfare.

Education

All public education is free in Calmerica up until high school graduation, traditionally at the age of 16. All citizens are expected to graduate high school. It is extremely hard to find a job without graduating. If requirements are met, students then may attend a college or university in any province for a degree. This is only available until the age of 47, four years before retirement age. After graduating from a college or university, students may then seek an additional four years of education by entering a "Masters" program.

Organization: Typically any town with over 5,000 citizens will have a beginner, middle, and high school. It is very rare to have any town with less population than that have a school of any kind. Cities with more than 10,000 citizens will sometimes have two of each, but it varies from province to province. Colleges and universities are never placed in towns with less than 25,000 population, and usually a lot more. No city may have more than one college or university in it. The teacher:student ratio in Calmerica is 1:23 in beginner-high school, 1:18 in college/ university education, and 1:16 in masters education. A college generally has fewer students, a smaller building, and less staff than a university does. Other than that, they are basically the same thing.

School Year: The school year for beginner-high school starts on September 1st, the day after Independence Day. It ends on June 21st, the first day of summer and the National Day of Happiness. College and university schedules vary, as some go year round while others follow the same schedule as beginner-high school, and some even have shorter years. All colleges and universities are private, thus they are free to follow whatever schedule and curriculum they choose.

Libertas of Calmerica

Prelude
Freedom is the ultimate goal of life. It is the meaning of happiness. We, the people of the Federal Island of Calmerica, declare ourselves free. We shall preserve ourselves in this state of freedom, fighting for it until death, come what may. Life, Liberty, and God are what we stand for. The citizens of Calmerica wish to serve the true God in freedom, defend ourselves as seen fit, always keeping ourselves in a free state. This nation is established to protect the rights stated within, to preserve them without fail, to create a prosperous God fearing nation, to defend its citizens until death, and ultimately, to be free of all else. So say we all.

Article I; Freedoms of Calmerican Citizens
1. No immigrant shall be denied acceptance into Calmerica, nor citizen lose citizenship based on age, race, sex, or political views.
2. All citizens have the right to free speech including obscenity and speech against citizen or government, so long as that speech does not threaten the safety of any citizen.
3. All citizens have the right to live where wished, and work where wished, as long as said occupation does not threaten the safety of the nation.
4. All citizens are allowed to vote, unless in prison, a rehabilitation center, medical clinic for an extended period of time lasting more than four years, or under the age of 16.
5. All citizens have the right to hold assembly, form coalitions, clubs, and other groups, so long as they do not have violent intent.
6. Freedom of the press is declared so is to keep all citizens in Calmerica in the know of their nation's happenings, without bias or reserve.
7. No citizen may declare themselves to be, or practice homosexuality on penalty of death.
8. All citizens over the age of 13 and 5'0" may drive an automobile, after the driving test is passed. A driver's license also grants the authorities to try said citizen as an adult under special circumstances.
9. All citizens over the age of 16 are considered adults and may drink alcohol, live without a guardian, vote on matters of city, province, and federal ordinance, submit ratification and legislature, and run for a governmental office. All citizens over the age of 16 are also tried as adults in a court of law without exception.
10. All citizens must retire at the age of 55 unless self employed, a government official, or military officer.
11. All citizens have the right to sue another citizen or business for any reasonable grievance amount at least Ç100 unless living in the same household under the age of 16.
12. All citizens have the right to join any branch of the military once 16, permitting they pass all required testing, and the 2 year long Military Academy. Only men may serve in combat.
13. All citizens who become homeless over the age of 16 have the option to live in a low-budget homeless shelter, join the military, of face deportation.
14. All citizens must worship one of the designated religions, or declare to be a non-religious/ atheist citizen. Public worship or acknowledgement of worship of a non-designated religion is punishable by law.
15. All citizens must obey the requests and demands of the Calmerica Intelligence and Investigation Agency, Calmerica Military, Province Police, and all governmental officials unless said request violates the Libertas.
16. All individuals arrested in Calmerica have the right to a fair trial, skip for days, consent with an attorney, and to be read their miranda rights.
17. No citizen may have property unlawfully taken from them by the government, or have their property or person searched without proper documentation issued by a local court.
18. All citizens have the right to become a citizen of another country without being punished, restricted, or banned from Calmerica. Any citizen wishing to again reside in Calmerica must go through the immigration process.

Article II; Power of the Diarchs
The two Diarchs control both the state and the government, not necessarily in formally assigned roles. The manage the government, create and disband panel positions, approve legislation, grant and ban civil rights, declare war, initiate and end foreign trade, form and break alliances, and dutifully keep the majority of citizens happy. The Diarchs appoint their replacement(s), unless impeached or dies in office. The panel will appoint a new Diarch if the incumbent is impeached. In the case of death, the remaining incumbent Diarch appoints another. The appointment of a Diarch either by replacement, fellow Diarch, or panel cannot be overturned or vetoed. The formal responsibilities of the Diarchs are as follows:
-Follow the Libertas, upholding and defending it till end of life.
-Maintain order in the nation at all times.
-Protect the nation from all foreign and domestic threats.
-Properly manage and utilize the Panel, Supreme Court, Governors, and the rest of government.
-Decide which laws and legislation to pass as best seen beneficial to the nation.
-Decide trade partners, alliances, and pacts.
-Declare war as seen fit.
-Approve provincial elections of Governors by the people of said province.
-Appoint worthy citizens to act as Secretaries/ Panel members over the nation of Calmerica.
-Appoint worthy citizens to act as Supreme Court Judges, Province Judges, and Local Judges to properly judge and maintain order within the nation and their respectful provinces.

The Diarchs cannot be impeached but by two means; a full Panel vote, and 6-1 Supreme Court vote, or 90% Panel vote and unanimous Supreme Court vote. If one Diarch is impeached, so is the other. A Diarch cannot be arrested but by a Royal Guard, or agent of the CIIA. While the impeachment process is under way, neither Diarch has any power unless during a time of war, and the Secretary of Domestic Affairs takes temporary control of the nation with full Diarchal responsibility until appointment of the panel for two new Diarchs takes place, or the Diarch in question is restored power.

Article III; Power of the Panel
Each Secretary serving on the Panel has the responsibility to serve their department to the very best of their ability, and only rely on the SA's for research, reference, and second opinions. The Special Advisers are not part of the Executive Branch. Each Secretary has rights, and responsibilities:
-Serve their respective department as best possible, in the fullest capacity possible, upholding and defending the Libertas at all times.
-Appoint a Special Adviser to assist in matters regarding said Secretary's department.
-Form permanent and temporary committees to deal with specific branches of said Secretary's department.
-Assist the Diarchs in rulings, decisions, and other matters pertaining to said Secretary's department.
-Work with fellow Secretaries to form a unified, just Panel that serves and defends Calmerica wholeheartedly, without delay or negligence.
-All Secretaries have the privilege of residing permanently on the Royal Grounds with the Diarchs and other government officials, in the Resident Castle.

Special Advisers:
-A Special Adviser may only serve one Secretary at a time.
-Assist the Secretaries in decision making, research, clerical work, and other matters specifically relating to the Secretary's department.
-Act as head of all temporary committees in the department under which said Special Adviser serves.
-Stay within the bounds of the Libertas while wholeheartedly serving their Secretary, the Panel, and the nation of Calmerica.
-All SA's have the privilege of staying in the Resident Castle on the Royal Grounds, same as the Panel.

A Panel member may be removed by the Diarchs unanimous vote, a unanimous Supreme Court vote, or a 6-1 Supreme Court vote and the approval of one Diarch. A unanimous Supreme Court vote can overturn the unanimous vote of the Diarchs. Special Advisers can be fired by the Secretary under which said Special Adviser works for, a unanimous vote of the Diarchs, or with a 4-3 Supreme Court vote. This however, can be overturned with a unanimous decision of the Diarchs or Panel members. The firing of a Special Adviser by the Diarchs or Secretary cannot be overturned, and is permanent. When a Special Adviser is fired they can never serve that department in that role again, and cannot serve as a Special Adviser for a duration of five years.

Article IV; Power of the Military
Each branch has specific responsibilities. Its the duty of all military men and women to uphold these responsibilities till death, and serve the military with courage and honor at all times, representing the nation of Calmerica without reserve. In addition, the Calmerica Military itself has certain responsibilities:
-Protect the nation of Calmerica fearlessly, wholeheartedly, and without reserve.
-Eliminate all threats to the safety and security of Calmerica sea, land, and air.
-The Secretary of War has the job of appointing fitting Commanders to serve as Generals, up to five of each specific General at a time.
-The Generals have the job of assigning promotions, organizing Regiments, Units, Wings, Teams, Fleets, et cetera.
-The Secretary of War has the right to override any decision made by a General.
-During times of war the Secretary of War has full authority of all military action, and the Diarchs may only overturn a decision with a unanimous vote and unanimous vote of the Panel minus the Secretary of War. The vote must be taken within 24 hours.
-A military officer or soldier may be dishonorably discharged for any of the following reasons:
-Repetitive insubordination towards any officer or soldier of superior rank
-Knowingly using weaponry against a fellow officer or soldier, friendly officer or soldier, or citizen of Calmerica
-Purposefully endangering a mission or operation of any kind
-Endangering the safety of fellow soldiers knowingly or unknowingly
-Disobeying a direct order from an officer
-Violating the Libertas
-A military officer or soldier may be honorably discharged for any of the following reasons:
-Health problems that limit or hinder the ability to serve the military as deemed by the soldier's commanding officer, a general, or the Secretary of War.
-Psychological reasons that limit or hinder the ability to serve the military as deemed by the soldier's commanding officer, a general, or the Secretary of War.
-Request by said soldier for any purpose deemed acceptable by the soldier's commanding officer, a general, or the Secretary of War.

A General can either retire for any reason (receiving an honorable discharge), or be dishonorably discharged by the Secretary of War or a unanimous vote of the Diarchs. A soldier can be dishonorably discharged by the Diarchs, any general of rank within said soldier's branch, or a soldier of superior rank with the backing of 10 fellow soldiers of superior rank. The latter discharge can be overruled by a general or unanimous vote of the Diarchs. If a soldier is honorably discharged, they may rejoin the military at any point receiving their former rank and duties following the passing of physical and psychological tests and recommendation by a doctor if discharged for health or psychological reasons.

Article V; Ratification
This constitution of the Diarchal Islands of Calmerica, officially the Libertas of Calmerica, may be ratified by any of the following ways:
-Unanimous vote of the Diarchs and 90% vote of the Panel
-Unanimous vote of the Supreme Court and approval by at least one Diarch and majority Panel
-Unanimous vote of the Panel, 6-1 Supreme Court, and unanimous vote of the Diarch
-Unanimous vote of the Panel, unanimous vote of the Supreme Court, and approval by one Diarch
Any citizen of Calmerica may draft a ratification and send it to a local court. If they deem it may be approved, it is sent to the provincial court. They can make changes, corrections, add or subtract whatever the court feels necessary, then if approved by the two provincial judges, it is sent to the supreme court. The supreme court then votes on whatever ratification is given them. If a 4-3 vote or higher is given, it passes on to the Panel. If the Panel votes in majority, it is sent to the Diarchs, where they may either approve it unanimously, deny it unanimously, or split the vote and take a revote from the Supreme Court, that vote being final. If the Diarchs decide to change the ratification sent to them, the Supreme Court and Panel then revote. Once the entire executive branch approves the bill, it is passed and made law one week from the final voting. If a member of the Panel or one of the Diarchs draft a ratification it is sent to Supreme Court, then the Panel, then the Diarchs, skipping the local court and provincial court stages.

Religion
Calmerica, at its founding point back in 1876, was 100% Protestant. Everyone believed in the bible, and all founding members would never dream of anything else. As time went on, that percentage was gradually reduced. More and more breeds of Christians came into the nation demanding recognition. Eventually, the Kings gave in, and in 2010 six different forms of Christianity were recognized as official religions, as well as one outside religion, Buddhism. The current make-up of religion among the citizens of Calmerica is as follows:

Church of Calmerica (Protestant) 79%, Atheist/ Non-religious 10%, Various other Christian 9%, Buddhist 2%

Architecture
Calmerica is full of classical style architecture, many homes are made of brick, the Diarchs, Panel, and all Lords live in Castles, the Churches stand as some of the tallest buildings in the nation, and very few "modern" style buildings exist. These would include places like the TWO headquarters, the CIIA headquarters, fancy business skyscrapers, and the like. This is a typical courthouses, a Church of Calmerica, and this is the general design of a Governor's residence (don't mind the statue), and this is a standard residential apartment building atop a business (far right). A popular street in Portland City, the capital of Calmerica, is 21st Square. It features the "Portland" sign, which sits directly atop the first residential building built in Portland City, now a theatre of the arts.

Here's a skyline of the "Business Administrative" district within Portland City. This district (one of four in Portland City) is where many corporations have their headquarters, business people live, and where most business is done in general.

Sports
Rugby Union, Football, Soccer, Basketball, and Jousting are the only sports with national teams, however a Hockey, Handball, Bull Riding, Tennis, and Boxing league exists, despite little support. The biggest sports stadium in Calmerica is "Lindberg Dome", which is where all Sangrelang sports are played. It seats 87,910, and also hosts the Caleb Tournament every year. Two international matches have been played at the new Portland City stadium, "Diarch Field", one football and one soccer. It seats 80,000, making it the second largest stadium in Calmerica. The largest basketball arena is "Trans-World Arena" in Portland City, seating 25,120.

Rugby has the longest history in Calmerica, the RUF being founded in 1941. Its had as many as 38 professional teams, and is at an all time low now with 7 (an expansion of 5 extra teams is planned in 2011). The only two original teams left are the Dextor Dynamite and the Portland Warriors. The rugby union national team was established back in 1961, the first national team in Calmerica. It has plans to host the 17th Rugby Union World Cup, however the bidding is yet to be over. Its expected that with a host bid, Calmerica will once again find rugby to be its most popular sports.

Until that time, however, the most popular is without a question football. Soccer was founded earlier, in 1880, however football has taken the nation by storm. A professional league wasn't founded until 1971, however since then its experienced 3 major expansions, several international matches, and inspired the establishment of college football in Calmerica starting in 1985. The first team in the NLF (National League of Football, before it became the Calmerican Football League) was the Portland Dynamo. The changed their name to the Portland Kings in 2007, and hadn't lost a game until the 2010 Caleb Tournament Championship against Lindberg. Diarch Field hosts the Kings, being built in 2008, and has already hosted two international matches, one being football against the Caleeb national team (Portland Kings 42-Caleeb Heroes 21), and the other a rugby match between the Portland Warriors and the Caleeb team, the Tustud Sharks (Portland Warriors 9-Tustud Sharks 37). The Portland Kings have won the most championships in the NLF/ CFL with 17. The Lindberg Lions and Paltoque Mustangs follow with 6 each. No other team has yet to win the Caleb Tournament.

Soccer is the third most popular sport in Calmerica, and as stated, was founded in 1880, the first professional sport in the nation. The first two teams were the Latroni Armies, and the Seaside Roughnecks. They were the only two teams for five years, and would play each other 20 times a year, with the Roughnecks often dominating. Then the addition of five more teams came about in 1885, and from there on the League of Soccer flourished. A national team was founded in 1980, 100 years after the sport began. That year also sported a name change, from the LoS to the National Soccer League. Since then the Dextor Triumph and the Aland Fighters have been consistently the best, each winning 8 Soccer Cup Series' over the last 30 years. The Atasamon Aggies were founded in 2008, and have been in the Series finals their first three years, including winning the series in 2010, the most impressive start in Calmerican soccer history.

Basketball is considered a "dying sport" in Calmerica. There used to be nearly 80 professional teams in 1979, 10 years after its founding in 1969. Almost all have died off due to a lack of interest. Few colleges feature a basketball program anymore, and now only 10 teams remain. A national team was established in 1979, however hasn't played a match in four years. No one is interested in playing the Calmerica Rams, especially since their downfall in the previous Ridgefield Regional Olympics, where, despite being the host nation, they didn't even make it past the first round. Three more teams are set to close down in 2011-12, cutting the CBL down to seven teams, and more than likely ending its tenure as a professional sport.

Jousting is the fourth sport with a national team in Calmerica. The National Club of Jousting holds sponsored tournaments throughout the year, and then the Tournament of Champions takes place, with the 30 best jousters from anywhere in the nation come to Portland and take place in three random qualifying matches. From there the top 16 enter a single elimination tournament. You must have jousted 20 times and have at least a .500 record to be invited to the Tournament of Champions. The winner receives $500,000 and an automatic bid in next year's ToC. People have been jousting since the nation was founded casually, but was banned in 1913. It was reopened as a professional sport in 1992, and established a national team in 2010.

Inside The Government

Executive
The two Diarchs reign over the nation together, equally, sharing all duty and responsibility. As Calmerica is a no party state, Diarchs are picked by their predecessors, and approved by the Panel. They act as one over the nation, their vote on matters of legislation, war, etc. almost always needing to be unanimous. "Without unity at the head, the body has nowhere to go" stated Caleb Hawkins in 2006 when the Island Kingdom of Calmerica became the Diarchy of Calmerica. That now serves as the motto of the executive branch.

The Panel is made up of 10 Secretaries, each Secretary leads a department of the nation, similar to a President's cabinet. Each Secretary appoints one Special Adviser to serve as his/her back-up, second opinion, assistant, etc. whatever the Secretary may need. In a scenario where a Secretary is absent, their Special Adviser will step in temporarily. Within each department are several smaller departments. These are permanent establishments, technically part of the executive branch although having no official say on the Panel. Within each of those departments are agencies and/or committees that help run the department.

Is Calmerica strictly Protestant?
As of 2010, no.

Are all citizens required to attend school?
Yes, homeschooling is not an option, as no desire has ever been expressed. Attendance at least once a week (unless sick or on vacation) is mandatory through high school.

How many religions are legal in Calmerica?
Currently 7 are recognized, 6 of which are branches of Christianity: Church of Calmerica, Seventh Day Adventist, New Catholic, Jehovah's Witnesses, Lutheran, Baptist, and Buddhism.

How would one immigrate into Calmerica?
Fill out the following form, and mail it to the Immigration Center of Calmerica. Your selected province will send a representative to meet you at the center shortly after your application is accepted. A quiz of about 100 questions will follow. You then fly back to your home nation. In about a month you will be contacted with acknowledgement of your quiz "passing" or "failing". If failed, you must wait five years before applying again.

If accepted, the quiz and application are seen by a group (five other representatives), who vote on the applicant. If accepted, said applicant then flies to their selected province and the same representative will give them an (to the naked eye) invisible tattoo on their forearm with their full name, gender, birth date, their representative's name, and a barcode. From there the applicant is set up with a family registered in the Families for Immigrants program. You have one year to find your own house, a job, etc. If you are unable to, you have the choice to join the military or be deported back to your home country.

The application is Ç1000, the airfare is generally Ç2000, and staying with the family is Ç200 a month, unless another contracted agreement is reached with that family. The representative stops by once every 3 months, and comes on the immigrant's last day of the year. If the family complains more than 2 times, the immigrant is immediately deported.

How old do citizens have to be to drive?
15. This is two years after the legal drinking age, 13. Since the change from ages 16 (driving) and 18 (drinking), accidents have gone down 65%, DUI arrests 35%, and crime in general has had a good decrease. We believe by allowing children to learn how to handle alcohol responsibly first, then learn how to drive, they're better prepared for how to deal with the balance between drinking and driving, and how to keep them separate, while living with a guardian.

What is the age of sexual consent in Calmerica?
16, the same as the universal suffrage age. Sex between two minors results in a fine for both families. Sex between a child and an adult (assuming they're both consenting) is considered "consent rape" and is punishable by five years in prison for the adult, and a fine for the child's family. Rape in which one individual is not consenting is obviously illegal in any scenario and is punishable by death.

How old do citizens have to be to vote?
Again, 16. However citizens also must have lived in Calmerica for two years to apply for "voter" status.

Can people own guns?
Limit one per household, and they MUST be registered. Registration is Ç50, and has to be renewed for Ç10 every year after that. If a citizen has ever been convicted of a federal crime, they may never own firearms of any kind. Businesses are limited to two per business. If anyone working with the business has been a convicted felon, they must obtain a special license. Military grade weapons (SCAR, ACR, most any automatic weapon) are forbidden for all uses other than military.

An additional license and renewal per year (Ç50 and Ç10) is required to carry a gun in public and only former military men or law enforcement officers are allowed to carry a concealed weapon, per the "Gun Precaution Act" of 2001.

Is prostitution legal in Calmerica?
No. Prostitution is punishable by 5 years in prison.

Is polygamy legal in Calmerica?
No, per the "Marriage Sanctity Act" of 1899.

What is Calmerica's view of cock fighting, dog fighting, etc?
It's legal in Calmerica, as long as its done privately. Publicly promoted animal fighting is punishable by a Ç2000 fine.

How may one obtain a hunting or fishing license?
A citizen must pass all requirements/ registration in order to obtain a Citizen Hunt and Fish License. Certain areas are banned from both, and if one was caught in these areas, the punishment is a Ç3,000 fine plus possible conviction if its happened more than once.

What's Calmerica's stance on abortion?
Abortion is illegal, under any circumstances. World class adoption centers have been set up so that mothers who discard their children won't feel like guilt driven whores their whole lives.

Is it legal to walk around the towns naked?
Only with an "Obscene and Exposure License". This is generally granted to hot people. The fat ones do not get to strut around. The license must be renewed every year for Ç50. This license is good in all provinces but one, Jarak, which has completely banned all public exposure. If one is caught nude, or partially nude without a license you may be fined up to Ç5000, and convicted to one month in prison on the third offense. Minors are not allowed to have an O&E License, per 2002's "Exposure Restriction Act".
