Hair? Most militaries have their troops shave their heads... let's also not forget about helmets.
Grabbing a GWO soldier by the collar's just asking for them to use the momentum to headbutt you or punch you in the diaphragm or throat, or if you're a smaller person, high-fire you over them and then curbstomp you.

This is how most RL brawls are like, between untrained drunk frat boys.

So do ours. Including how to use their swords. Armed martial arts masters beat unarmed ones.
This is all theoretical, since everyone in Aeten II's armed forces carry handheld shotguns (smaller ones, bout' the size of a pistol, VERY lethal in close range) And that our troops are told to ALWAYS fight as a unit, meaning anyone in closerange will have to fend off 9, pissed off men at the fact you killed their bro, and they have XM8s.

The Grand World Order wrote:Every GWO soldier gets two "melee weapons, the Kampfmesser 2000 knife, which is kept in a sleeve on the side of their boots, and the Kukri machete. The Kampfmesser serves as an all-around utility knife, while the Kukri serves the same purposes as a machete, mainly brushclearing and such.
The Kampfmesser 2000 is a German knife design capable of piercing the fuselage of an airplane. It's optimized to serve today's soldier's basic needs, and with the MI-8A2 "AnyKnife Bayonet" attachment, it becomes quite an accessory. Normally found in a bootsleeve, KM2000s are often a GWO soldier's "dirty trick" during hand to hand combat.
The Kukri is a very old design, originally made and used by the Gurkhas of Nepal. Though they were used for almost everything, the Kukri became famous for its terrifying effectiveness as a weapon. The design is such that the user does not need to flick their wrist at all to achieve maximum power behind a slash, and the design has been known to allow users to lop off limbs in single strikes. The dull side is used as a crude hammer. Though uncommon, Kukris are also effective throwing weapons.
Oh, if you want to count them, we also use WJQ-308 shovels/multitools.
Then, soldiers are also free to purchase more weapons. The most popular (to the point where many people think we actually issue them out, even) is the throwable hatchet, or tomahawk. Of course, we've also got spiked clubs, stiletto knives, etc.
Don't forget our improvised weapons, either. A GWO soldier might use a common hammer as a weapon, or they might use said hammer to drive some four inch nails through a 2x4 or wooden club/bat. Then, our engineers have been known to use their reciprocating/circular/manual/chain saws and (auto)hammers in tough, close quarters situations.
Oh, haha, then there's their fists. GWO troops are expected to learn two martial arts forms during their 13-14 month stay at their local Army or Marine Academy.
And of course the gloves we use have polyethylene inserts, which hurt like hell if you get one of those in the face.Risottia wrote:If you think that avoid killing civilians is a failure, I don't like your idea of success.

Khukari
Khukari or Kukari is national weapon of Nepal. It is carried by every solider and even government officer has to have it. It is only weapon which doesn't require license or tax to be owned/ possessed. It is a symbol of bravery and every soldier is given minimum of 6 month training on Khukari however traning is not really needed since anyone in Nepal Army perfectly knows how to use it for attack/ defense since 2nd test in military is to be able to kill a hungry tiger with nothing but Khukari (of course if tiger poses risk of life on candidate, a shot is fired on tiger which faints it). Khukari training is given for free out of military too for anyone who wants to take it.
Use of Khukari in Combat
The blade's distinctive forward drop is intended to act as a weight on the end of the blade and make the khukri fall on the target faster and with more power. For attacking, the khukri is most effective as a chopping or slashing weapon, though it can be used for stabbing. In combat, the khukri is basically used in three different styles: stabbing with the point, slashing or chopping with the edge, and (rarely) throwing. Because it has an angular blade bending towards the opponent, the user need not create an angle in the wrist, which makes a khukri more comfortable as a stabbing weapon than other straight-bladed knives. Its heavy blade enables the user to inflict deep wounds and to cut through muscle and bone. In many battle around the world, Soldiers of Nepal Army are known for using the khukri to chop off an enemy soldier's head with one stroke.
