Sorry if I get this conversation of track but...

New Tesslandian Soldiers use this:

Caliber: 7.7x55mm
Feed: 20 round box
Fire Mode: semi or full auto
Note: While the rifle is nearly always fired on semi, complaints by ground troops resulted in the inclusion of a full auto setting.

If I were him, I'd prefer not to have all my men die in firefights due to carbon fouling.

M16 is worst implementation of DI gas ever.

Use AR-16 instead. Short stroke gas piston + 7.62 NATO = better.

Maybe I will. I don't have any need for ships but having a viable means to aquire air craft that I can not produce locally would be good.

And to not make this an off-topic spam post, I was figuring to use the FN FAL as my main infantry rifle with cut down versions for assault roles. That takes care of the lack of penetration and stopping power that 5.56mm rifles have while giving me superior range in an open conflict. Unless my soldiers spazz out they can make do with the usual double-tap or even a single-tap and trust the greater stopping power of the 7.62x51mm round to do the job of two 5.56mm bullets.

Pluss they're cheap, rugged and dependable for a third-world country.

SA80 is unreliable as hell and jams all the time, and fails in comparison to the L1A1 SLR. I just disproved your theory.

M79 and M203 is standard shotguns.

Not with such a large round. Unless it is a SAW or something he should remove the full auto.
