The Casaba-Enfield Directed Nuclear Laser Rifle is the very latest and greatest weapon in the defence of His Majesties Britannic Realms across the stars, featuring the latest innovations in Nuclear Shaped Charges and Lasers, along with patented Breechloading technology all laid out on a handsome Black Walnut Stock.
Similar in design to most conventional weaponry and most familiar to humanoids, the Casaba-Enfield can be loaded by simply lowering the lever, inserting the cartridge into the Breech block, and returning the lever. Firing is naturally conducted by merely pulling on the trigger upon which the cartridge will activate in a controlled nuclear explosion within the rifle chamber and resultant radiation directed out the barrel and into the foe.
Thus the 55g Plutonium Bullet released a whole whopping Megaton (4.184 petajoules) of X and Gamma Radiation, concentrated through a series of mirrors, into a superheated ray of destruction at a stupendous 99.9999% efficiency thus negating recoil to a comparable level to that of a 2 bore. Fired in volleys the wave of nuclear fire will literally melt away the opposition with only the strongest radioactive shielding (Such as ours) allowing for a modicum of chance at survival.
The sighting system is also connected to the series of mirrors within the rifle. No fuss, and no fiddling as you simply determine the range of the target and the mirrors automatically realign along with the irons. Due to the deadly firepower withheld within the weapon it may come into occasion to limit the range of destruction so as to prevent unnecessary collateral damage. Shortening the defocuses the mirrors allowed for a less concentrated ray of more limited range, but has the curious effect of also widening the beam, potentially allowing for a shotgun-esque effect, but instead of lead pellets it's flesh roasting atomic energy.
Let us not forget that firepower is all fine and dandy, but it is in the assault where battles are won. The Casaba-Enfield features a solid bayonet lug upon which can be mounted monomolecular triangular bayonet (Sword bayonets available for NCO's as featured above), capable of piercing any substance in the universe up to 18 inches provided enough effort and most excellent at keeping Johnny Alien outside the boundaries of the WCF Shield as well as taking the fight to his crater!
