I would bet that the AR-10 is sturdier than the FAL. Also if you want a 5.56 gun with bit looser tolerances try this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armalite_AR-18

I would bet that you're wrong.

MAS 49 says wut. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAS-49_rifle The MAS used the exact same sytem as the AR-10 and the MAS 49 is lolzy reliable.

The system doesn't automatically make the gun more reliable. And to be honest, and difference in reliability is probably more a question of maintenance, and pretty negligible.

No.

More or less the power of the round. DI works excellent with full power rounds (Like in MAS 49) but not so well in Intermediate rounds if you dont use the correct power (M16, worked fine with one type of powder (Either ball or stick, forget which) but not so well in the stuff that was available in large amounts (The other)).

M16 is actually very reliable if you oil it up enough.

The M-10 Hellfire
Standard assault rifle. Fires in full auto, burst, and semi. Feeds from a 99 round energy canister. Also has a "Hotshot pack" which is another battery that powers it grenade launcher fire mode
Image
The bullseye Mk3
Standard battle rifle. The firepower is noticeably increased. Homing tags are now capable of guiding fire from friendly bullseyes, if set to the optional "Friendly Guidance" mode. It also incoporates the BM001 Razor's ability to fire energy discs. (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2 ... _rfom1.jpg)
APR (Advanced.Plasma.Rifle) v25
Multipurpose Combat Engineering Weapon, issued to combat engineers in the field. Carries 9000 round battery before depletion, can be recharged in a variety of ways. Riordan Dynamic Weapon Systems is best known for their all-purpose combat engineering weapon system, the Advanced Plasma Rifle v25. Its primary mode is a standard rapid-fire plasma weapon. But the alternate mode beam also serves a multitude of engineering uses on the battlefield, from repairing friendly vehicles to safely disposing mines to constructing power Nodes. The beam lens incorporates IFF detection, so that its dynamic energy matrix automatically switches to a deadly plasma stream when contacting an enemy vehicle or soldier. Contact with a friendly target switches to a harmless carrier stream, offloading energy from the onboard cells to the target. This boosts the output of any teammate who is linked to the rifle -- hence its nickname, the "Link Gun". To compensate for the lack of targeting sights, it has it's targeting system directly linked with the engineers HUD.

M92-A2 Mantis
Standard sniper rifle. Has a 10 round removable heat sink. Semi auto.
Image
ASMD Shock Rifle
The ASMD Shock Rifle has changed little since its first incorporation into the BorderWorlds Special Forces. The ASMD sports two firing modes: a thin photon beam, and a sphere of unstable plasma energy. These modes are each deadly in their own right, but used together they can neutralize opponents in a devastating shockwave. The energy spheres can be detonated with the photon beam, releasing the explosive energy of the anti-photons in the plasma's EM containment field. Fires in full auto. Has a 3000 round rechargeable battery. Only issued to spectres.
(http://liandri.beyondunreal.com/w/image ... krifle.jpg)
SF57 Rotary Gatling Laser
Man portable gatling laser. Has a 2,000,000 shot battery and a very high rate of fire. Only issued to Heavy Weapons Specialists.

M25 Widow Anti Material rifle
Anti Material Rifle. 5 round removable heat sink, pump action
Image
Without the optional ammo counter
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2 ... MA6A_2.png
N3 ion shotgun
30 round battery, fires ion blasts in full auto, semi auto, or two shot bursts. Has an adjustable energy choke.
Image
N4 laser carbine.
50 round battery, fires laser bolts, in full and semi auto. Has a built-in mini holo sight and redundant iron sights, in case the holo sight fails.
Image
M20 Plasma Flamethrower
One handed
Image
AMR1
Anti Mech Rifle, fires a laser bolt, one shot reloadable canister.
Image
N5 Plasma LMG
400 round battery, fires in full auto, semi auto, or burst
Image
N6 Paratrooper Rifle
66 round battery, fires in full auto, semi or burst.
Image
N7 Gauss Rifle
100 round magazine, Fires 4mm tungsten darts, in full auto, semi, or burst. New standard armament for BorderWorlds Marines
http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs18/f/2007/ ... anberg.jpg
N8 Energy Pistol
Standard sidearm. Uses a revolver style magazine. Each "chamber" has 18 shots.

I meant from system to system, not between same-system weapons of different calibers. The M16 is reliable if taken care of, and the difference between its reliability and the FAL's would be negligible.

No offence but that thing is far too decorative to be a proper battle sword.

Would be a better choice. Especially is sharpened on the back edge down about four inches,

I think you'll find the thickness of that weapon near the pommel has been proven to be inferior in field testing. If I were you, I'd switch to a more modern configuration. Also, the bands around the quillion may look nice, but will actually impede performance, especially in cases with high amounts of blood splattered everywhere.
And really? You're going with a blue crystal? In this day and age I thought most people would have realised that a red crystal is the far superior choice.

Beat me to it will you Castleclose... We'll see how you feel about that when I give your entire nation herpes

Tested with stick and it worked apparently amazing, but issued with ball leading to a ZOMG scandel alert by gov't when the M16 started fouling up. One proper cleaning techniques and supplies usage lesson later and the problem is resolved, well for the most part.

I'm thinking something chambered in the 6mm range, with DMR, carbine, and SAW variants. Any opinions on operating system or caliber would be appreciated, as would suggestions for other variants.

First attempt at PMGing the baseline. I'll post a pic if anyone doesn't feel like copypasting code.

A: Springfield Armory Mil-Spec or GI

They both seem to be a good solid gun with great bang for the buck. But which one? Any opinions? (And I mean in real life BTW)

I've usually heard very nice things about the Springfield Mil-Spec. I know some people who have the GI and the Mil-spec and they tend to like the mil-spec b/c it had the extra features that they wanted that would have cost them to add to the GI. The GI though is apparently a nice base gun. So either you get a good featured gun or get a base that you can update if you wish.

I don't know anyone with an R1 so no comment.

No problem. :)

I'm happy to offer any insight if I can.

The Costa Lunan Army is very small, and our equipment is not very modern or very good. We standardized our equipment but it is rather old.

The M-16A1 is the main weapon of the Costa Lunan Army, but it should be noted we try to stay out of conflict and don't really try to go to war.

I think M16A1 looks cooler than any of the newer M16s

We used the Mostyi-Krych Karabiynvi-44, similar to a Sharps rifle, but firing different ammunition.

We also used the M-K Medveditsa-45 Revolver, looking something like a Colt Navy, but firing .45 and using a cylinder which rotates out to the side as opposed to breach loading. It also has a shorter barrel.

The Canadian Forces use a zazzed up M16A1E1 and it's a fine rifle... I don't see what the problem is here.

Casaba-Enfield Cartridge Pumped Directed Nuclear Laser Rifle:

The Casaba-Enfield Directed Nuclear Laser Rifle is the very latest and greatest weapon in the defence of His Majesties Britannic Realms across the stars, featuring the latest innovations in Nuclear Shaped Charges and Lasers, along with patented Breechloading technology all laid out on a handsome Black Walnut Stock.

Similar in design to most conventional weaponry and most familiar to humanoids, the Casaba-Enfield can be loaded by simply lowering the lever, inserting the cartridge into the Breech block, and returning the lever. Firing is naturally conducted by merely pulling on the trigger upon which the cartridge will activate in a controlled nuclear explosion within the rifle chamber and resultant radiation directed out the barrel and into the foe.

Thus the 55g Plutonium Bullet released a whole whopping Megaton (4.184 petajoules) of X and Gamma Radiation, concentrated through a series of mirrors, into a superheated ray of destruction at a stupendous 99.9999% efficiency thus negating recoil to a comparable level to that of a 2 bore. Fired in volleys the wave of nuclear fire will literally melt away the opposition with only the strongest radioactive shielding (Such as ours) allowing for a modicum of chance at survival.

The sighting system is also connected to the series of mirrors within the rifle. No fuss, and no fiddling as you simply determine the range of the target and the mirrors automatically realign along with the irons. Due to the deadly firepower withheld within the weapon it may come into occasion to limit the range of destruction so as to prevent unnecessary collateral damage. Shortening the defocuses the mirrors allowed for a less concentrated ray of more limited range, but has the curious effect of also widening the beam, potentially allowing for a shotgun-esque effect, but instead of lead pellets it's flesh roasting atomic energy.

Let us not forget that firepower is all fine and dandy, but it is in the assault where battles are won. The Casaba-Enfield features a solid bayonet lug upon which can be mounted monomolecular triangular bayonet (Sword bayonets available for NCO's as featured above), capable of piercing any substance in the universe up to 18 inches provided enough effort and most excellent at keeping Johnny Alien outside the boundaries of the WCF Shield as well as taking the fight to his crater!

Land Pattern: Standard Pattern for British Soldiers of Foot
Barrel length: 46-inch
Overall length; 62.5-inch
Weight: 10.4 pounds

India Pattern: Shortened form of the Enfield that has proven popular among Regiments stationed in the east and serving natives. Despite it's shortened length, accuracy has not degraded.
Barrel length: 39-inch
Overall length: 55.25-inch
Weight: 9.68 pounds

Cavalry Carbine: A very short Carbine version of the Enfield issued to Cavalry Regiments
Barrel length: 26-inch
Overall length: 42.5-inch
Weight: 7.37 pounds

Sea Service Pattern: Standard pattern present in the armouries of most Royal Navy Vessels. Used especially by the Royal Marines.
Barrel length: 37-inch
Overall length: 53.5-inch
Weight: 9.01 pounds

That is probably the single, most awesome FT weapon ever created...

You don't need anything more when your firing the equivalent of 5 Hiroshima's from your shoulder.

How much are they?

Christ's buggery, I hope you don't give the plebbs those.
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.
