Most things on FT are wank, doesn't mean it's terrible, doesn't mean there's not good RPers that role play on FT, doesn't mean there's not knowledgeable people on FT.

Oh God, here we go with wank crap again.

Yes, FT rips up physics. But that's because FT doesn't put an emphasis on numbers or realism, but on story. That is why most FT threads are extremely wordy, detailed, and sound like a story, while the majority of MT threads are basically n00bs screaming "I declare war on teh werld!!!1" or "I n00kz you all!!1" and huge arguments over crap like that. That, and the fact that FT lets you do whatever you wish with your nation, your imagination being the only limit, whereas if you make post one unrealistic thing, people go apeshit and @#!*% about how that rapes reality.

In my opinion, FT is more fun because it puts an emphasis on story and imagination.

I do not disagree, but I find it tough to get into FT for their wankish technology. Personally, when there's a good P/MT RP, I find it much more enjoyable than an good FT RP, because I can believe them. Also, note that the noobs likely pick MT because
- They are where the most people RP at, they want to naturally interact with more people.
- They are more familiar with it, as that's the state of the world.

At least, that's the reasoning that I've come to accept. There's very little you can't theoretically do with your nation that isn't technology rated. Your examples of MT RP are not the ones that focus on realism and a good story. MT just adds that extra challenge to the good story, making it believable. I'm sure I could go find a nice one liner packed wanktastic FT RP. Sure, it might take me longer due to the moderately lower FT population of NS, but those examples are applicable to all tech levels.

Ah, hm, then I guess adopt it. It seems to have a bigger caliber (45 vs. 40 with the Bofors) and apparently fires faster judging by its name "Swift Kill".

Did a quick read up on that, it looked pretty awesome. That and Macabees is a very solid designer. I would consider the Mark 30 superior to the Bofors in a gunship role.

Little under ten times the rate of fire than some of the Bofors, and over three times some of the more rapid-firing models.

Compare the price tags and ask yourself if the extra rate of fire is necessary.

I would consider it of high enough quality to warrant the cost, but then again, I've always believed in prioritizing quality over quantity.

Even so, it's this obsession with realism that drove me into FT. I posted one thing in an MT RP and I was ignored. After that, someone suggested that my nation idea was better suited for FT, so I went into FT and I never regretted it. I also don't doubt that the HUGE posts many FT'ers make would overwhelm many n00bs ( @#!*% , they're SO @#!*% descriptive, that I scroll through the posts in threads I'm not participating in).

Plus, I find FT more fun simply because I've grown up watching sci-fi movies (Star Wars, Starship Troopers, Independence Day, V, and so forth) and I found that it puts more emphasis on imagination. Course, YOU may not find it fun because you're obsessed with reality (which gets on my nerves sometimes), but I do.

And if you can't accept that, then I'll just simply say deal with it and go back to the MT crowd and hail MT and reality and all that crap.

I think what you fail to realize, as pulled from this quote "( @#!*% , they're SO @#!*% descriptive, that I scroll through the posts in threads I'm not participating in)" that this is not true for FT exclusively. A good FT RP really has nothing that an equally good MT RP does not. I would highly doubt that any FT post would overwhelm a noob any less, or be any more descriptive, than a post made by Lyras, or Sumer. Just because your technology is limited, doesn't mean you can't find imaginative solutions to problems, it does means that these solutions have to be at least believable.

I grew up watching these types of movies, as well (I've seen every movie you've listed, and ALIENS was a childhood favourite of mine, and remains a favourite). Again, I don't disregard FT nations as bad RPers, I just find it tough to get truly into FT from an RP standpoint. I could easily say that the reality of P/MT makes RPing far more enjoyable than RPing in FT. Also, "being obsessed with reality" (poor choice in words) is something you (seemingly) make out to be a bad thing. How is that bad?

However, this argument is not suitable for this thread, so this will be my last response on the matter.
