Finally made my own APC/recon vehicle. Behold! The MLAV-78! In OOC I'll refer to it as Superluchs, due to fact that it was mainly inspired by the Luch's design. (Seen at the bottom).

The MLAV-78 was designed in 1978, hence its name. The original design is in the middle. Its primary weapon is some kind of 20mm auto-cannon and a pintle-mounted FN MAG. It can only carry 6 troops in its passenger compartment in addition to its crew of 3.

A more recent version is seen at the top. The primary weapon was switched to a 35mm Bushmaster III while another FN MAG was added coaxially mounted. An expanded compartment allows it to carry 8 troops now in addition to the 3 crew.

Why not? Huts burn wonderfully at night, and rice paddies have water, which make for epic fighting grounds! IMAGINE ALL THE MUD!!!!!!.... And the mechs would track it everywhere too.... I feel sorry for the cleaning crews XD

Mechs + mud = bad combination. Tanks have enough trouble. Swamp mud is precisely the terrain type you DON'T want to use mechs in.

Turrets and armor plating are all I can really think to do with that. If the excavator is the size of the one in tee picture then you could possibly build some type of housing or command post on top of it. Oo! A helipad! Now if only you had a helicopter.

A Whitsend armoured car. Although a mainstay of the Episcopal army, it is largely unpopular as a result of it's cramped interior, light (almost feeble) armament and - in the words of one critic - "paper thin armour". It does, however, have an impressive turn of speed and a reliable engine. In the Whitsend's defence, the vehicle was originally designed for police use to deter riots; it was never designed for front line military service.

The Episcopal Auxiliary Force is one of two reserve forces in Saint Gilbert (the other being the police). Each Auxiliary formation answers to a corresponding regular regiment, though they all wear the same drab green-grey uniform with dark green collar and cuffs.

No the weather is region specific, like if you live in the Desert you'll get sandstorms and even the infamously rare rain! If you live in the rain forest I'm hitting you with THICK fogs and massive amounts of rain, etc...

So, I'm being hit with what is just heavy rain?

Cool, I'll start moving out now we're into the 'war season'...

Had my last ever exam yesterday. Uni is finished; I am a grown up now. Anyway, here's an update on the power armour. I've made the navy helmet and a few edits to the shoulder/collar guard. Not 100% on the navy helmet design - probably going to change that.

Doesn't sound too bad, we'll mostly be moving on the water-ways, with less chance of being hit by crazy falling shit. We'll just have to batten down the hatches to avoid being sunk by excess rains, or driving into trees by accident.

Interesting design on that Navy helmet. Not sure I like it either. Peripheral vision's still going to suck, but that's inevitable without going for a bubble helmet like I did. Maybe give the guy some hair and it might look better; at the moment the top of the visor is shaped like male pattern baldness.

Like the collar guard, but I hope your guys don't have to shoot down very much.

I kept the bit in the middle because that's sort of like an RIS for the helmet. You can use it to attach accessories like the rangefinding visor in this picture or exta armour or sensors so I wanted to keep it so the navy armour could have the same adaptability as the marines. In fact, I want the design to be so that it would be easily possible to turn navy armour into marine armour by simply switching the helmet's visor and attach the extra armour plating and ammo backpack via the pre-existing hardpoints. You could probably do the full switch in under two minutes.

I'm not so worried about the guy's ability to look down; the collar guard sits one or two two inches in front of the helmet. Place your hand the same distance in front of your nose and you can see it doesn't actually obstruct movement. If I have any concerns about the collar guard, it's interfering with the marine lifting his arms above his head but I think even on that it's probably acceptable.

This is my first attempt at the larger uniforms, not completely happy with the results but here goes:

Episcopal Army of Saint Gilbert
Image
L-R: Enlisted/Other ranks; Junior officer; Senior officer.

The different colours cuffs and collars denote different regiments. Each auxiliary unit (below) is attached to a regular regiment, though the only indicator of this is the shared cap badge and band; all auxiliaries have the same dark green collars and cuffs.

Episcopal Auxiliary Force

L-R: Enlisted/Other ranks; Junior officer; Senior officer.

I spent ages trying to get the cap right and I'm still not entirely satisfied. I'm considering ditching the sam brownes for enlisted men, though I do like the look.
