Yes, I have Microsoft Paint. So do I just crop things and move them around onto the outlines of the soldiers?

Combat boots are a much better choice considering rain boots don't protect against sharp objects buried in the sand.

I'm working on something for a jungle-type area.
(minus jungle camouflage, of course.)

Okay so so far I have Torrocca as the Tropical Forest and Desert Rangers for Hot and Dry Forest... keep them coming. I have Savanna, Coastal Desert, Temperate Grassland, Wetlands (swamps), Steppe, Cold Desert and Arctic remaining.

Fashiontopia wrote:Before you choose just let me let you weight your options
Tropical Forest - A LOT of cover, but very little visibility, you will barely be able to see 10 feet ahead of you when it's not raining and when it is expect a heavy low clouds that will be virtually pouring down. Good news is you can take cover very easily, and launch surprise attacks making as much noise as you want to on foot while it's raining.
Hot and Dry Desert - Very high visibility and little cover for enemies... however that's a two way street... no surprise attacks, no movement without recognition, no camping nor hiding out for the night. Once you're there it's pretty much a fight to the death. High mobility.
Savanna - Some cover behind trees and still pretty good visibility. Maybe some surprise attacks if you can crawl silently for miles and spend day and night fighting on your stomach. Good news is the trees make good locations for snipers. Okay Mobility.
Coastal Desert - A combination of Savanna and Hot/Dry Desert, expect fresher air and no sandstorms. Now you have to think about tsunamis on occasion. Same trees as Savanna, but same lack of grass as Hot/Dry. High Mobility.
Temperate Grassland - Grass, grass, and more grass, you won't find anything over 3 feet in height. However you don't have to worry about drought or lack of water. Moderate visibility, slight cover as the vegetation is so thick is can slow rounds. Less Than Satisfactory Mobility.
Wetlands (swamps) - You're not going anywhere, every turn you're stepping in mud, muck, or waist deep water that's green and most likely filled with predators. Low visibility due to heavy shrubbery a and similar storms as the Tropical Forest. Only difference between here and there in the fact that you have a lot more low areas and a lot more water in the form of creeks and small rivers. LOW Mobility and Vehicles? Haha.
Steppe - Dry areas of grassland with hot summers and cold winters. Basically Temperate Grassland mixed with Savanna. Combine the two for conditions.
Cold Desert - Unlike the hot desert you have a large flat area with very cold temperatures and large amounts of snowfall. Low visibility and the element of surprise increases when snowing. Be prepared for frigid conditions. Low mobility.
Arctic - Heavy snow all the time, no visibility except out to around 3 yards ahead of you. If you know where you're going with a compass you can do great things and you will be the leader here. Cover is easy, drop to the ground and hope you're enemy doesn't see you... which he won't, them kill him. Extremely low mobility.

And what tech levels are allowed and what are the requirements for the factions?
B.C.- about 1999 with no commercial military weapons (missiles, tanks, aircraft) no aircraft because the weather is unpredictable and far too severe to take off. In the desert 12/24 hours a day you'll have blinding sand storms, in the tundra you'll run into blizzards constantly, in the rain forest you'll have Forrest Gump/Noah's Ark type rain, the grass land will be the only place that's like paradise, light rain and slight wind factors... until the earthquakes come. However, naturally all you're people have become accustomed and adapted to the conditions they face so it is not a problem for natives, however for those of your who will be invading you're going basically to your definition to hell on Earth. The only thing I'm controlling will be the weather and terrain conditions, I won't have a faction.-The Desert Rangers wrote:I happen to have some advice.
- Make the soldiers and their equipment dirty, rusted and worn-out.
- Try to keep the troops as similar as possible without making a single uniform.
- Always make the soldiers or people look like they belong to whatever environment they inhabit. (example: dirt/sand on desert troops and snow and maybe mud on cold-weather troops)
- Again, small details like patched clothes and dirty or jury-rigged equipment help.
- Vehicles should also look like they've survived the apocalypse and should be subject to the above.
That's about it,hope it helps!
I hope I'm not the only group inhabiting the desert...
Very true, I would even venture to say having cloth and plastic covers on weapons' breech's would be very intelligent to protect the action from the elements. Equipment will be very dirty and by God make sure you have winter and summer clothes, also, abandon traditional combat boots in favor of air tight rain boots to prevent disease.
