Welcome to 1938.

I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards to avenge even a look that threatened her with insult. But the age of chivalry is gone. That of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded; and the glory of Europe is extinguished for ever.

Gas masks are carried in pouches for two reasons:

1) So they aren't so easily lost and can be readily identified amongst equipment.
2) Weather and water protection.

The latter is significantly more important than the former.

they do keep them in pouches actually, but the way shown actually shows you that they're carrying them, not just pouches. plus, they tend to take them out of the pouch in preparation of a chem attack etc. mainly, it just looks kewl that way.

Jumping rather belatedly on the bandwagon:

Give good greeting to Mota the Generic:
Image
Loa Heya!

As you can see, this soldier is considerably more lightly equipped than the lumbering half-trolls employed by some nations, though he has all of the equipment he needs to survive and fight in one of the most challenging of environments: the Inutolander rainforest. Mota the Generic and his fellow-soldiers have the unique advantage that they already know how to survive in this environment without any military equipment at all, and they use their superior local knowledge both to fight and to move through this environment with stealth and alacrity.

Armed with the AW-9 Assault Rifle/Battle Rifle chambered in 6.33x57mm Inuto from Vindicator Arms (available internationally through Alliance Armaments), he is able to carry up to seven 30-round magazines. The AW-9 comes equipped with the Standard Bayonet Model IV for close-quarter battle, which is a versatile tool serrated on the back edge for use in non-combat roles.

A soldier's brains are considered to be his most valuable assets and his primary weapon. Accordingly, his head is well-protected by the Dyneema Battle Helmet, a lightweight, practical helmet which is both stylish and functional. A pair of "Lynx mk. 2" enhanced nightvision goggles are clipped to this helmet; these are more usually stowed in one of the soldier's belt pouches.

In the dank, steamy jungles of inner Inutoland, ease of movement becomes a primary concern. To facilitate the soldier's ability to strike and move swiftly through the deep jungle, protective battle armour (beyond the aforementioned stylish helmet) is not issued as standard, being issued only to troops serving in particular combat environments.

Mota the Generic is far from naked, however. The soldier's battle dress uniform consists of a shirt and trousers in a rugged, breathable, IR-camouflaged material. This particular version is the short-sleeved domestic version in standard Pattern 3 Jungle camouflage, however, you might also see Pattern 3 camouflage in Mountain, Savannah, Temperate, Arctic or Desert colouration. The last three are unlikely to be observed in Inutoland itself, though the dark charcoal-grey Urban Pattern uniform might be.

This soldier is wearing kneepads, which give him a little more protection at the expense of some movement. Lighter units forego the kneepads in favour of the increased mobility and lesser weight considerations; this is something that varies from unit to unit. His feet are shod with the standard Type 1 tactical boots, a rugged yet flexible design allowing our soldier to move swiftly yet quietly over the forest floor from one strike-and-fade engagement to the next harrassing attack.

The numerous pouches on Mota the Generic's tactical utility belt contain spare ammunition, a small water purification kit, personal mosquito netting and other survival gear. His pack contains other survival equipment such as an entrenching tool, nylon rappelling rope and so on. It also contains the Land Warrior-analogous Hydra battlefield communications system, allowing every soldier to maintain secure communications with his compatriots on battlefield and tactical levels.

Lastly, but not to be left out, you will notice an eye-defying pattern of interlaced lines and spirals in mid-blue and charcoal-black. These body-painted designs are a part of ancient Inuto warriors' religious ritual, and were thought to protect the warrior from malign spiritual influences. They also have the added benefits of being rather intimidating as well as breaking up the outlines of face and flesh in the dim and dappled light of the understory.

Merchant Militia (reservists) male and female, RIDF Ordinator (regular infantry) and Support Infantry (heavy pattern).

There is no RIDF (heavy pattern) female, because the armour is too bulky. Just showing the infantry front and back for the moment, I might work on a formation or battle order pic...Maybe. In regards to the longer sleeves on the reservist female, no, gender plays no role in that, it's just that the particular male pictured wanted to roll his sleeves up for the shots.

For comparison, Candiru Template versions of both;
Militiaman (Dress cap, no helmet)
RIDF Heavy pattern

Part of me wants to believe it's an accident. But knowing nick, that might just have been the idea he was going for.

Okay! I've started a vehicle sheet for Ramsetia, but...I need help. (DUN DUN DUNNNNN!) The following image shows an R-IMV done up in an atrocius camouflage scheme. Here's the deal. Take the pattern present, and mess with the colours until you find something fun. I'm looking for a general-purpose vehicle camouflage that's workable across the main terrain types of Ramsetia, namely Red-sand deserts, Yellow-sand deserts, Savannah, and grass plains....A lot like Australia with less woodland, really. The winner gets to live with the knowledge that they made a new Palette for HDVC (Hybrid Deceptive Vehicle Camouflage) and a cookie!

Image

The image shows how the colours are supposed to go together, with most layers completely opaque, and another layer overlaid at a somewhat transparent rate to further break up the colours and shape. The stair-step/rectangular shape of the colour splotches doesn't have to be kept if you think rounded shapes would be preferable, and you can alter the opacity of all layers, so long as there is colour-mixing at some stage. Telegramme me your submissions.

For comparison, Candiru Template versions of both;
Militiaman (Dress cap, no helmet)
RIDF Heavy pattern

that is awsome
