Yes, yes they are... mostly because there are nothing like a bullet-proof vest and not even the heaviest armour of cuirassiers are totally bullet-proof

that kinda doesn't matter when you have IFVs and APCs and haven't used massed infantry charges since 1914

They also weigh your men down during the final charge.

Indeed and a hardened leather armour with thin ceramic plates with a layer of steel around for a more proper look is all you need as it would protect against some lesser bullets but more importantly; bayonets in melee!

We don't issue body armour as standard, only for specific combat environments. In our native rainforest, the extra weight just isn't worth enough to bother with. And we use a Grendel-esque 6.33x57mm round. (Yeah, it's a weird round with weird numbers. They're actually even numbers in our native measurements).

We issue lolheavy armour and ballistic shields for our regular infantry because we live in a very flat desert-savannah-plains kind of nation and, cover is hilariously scarce. We also use a 5.54x34mm round. Like a 5.56 NATO built specifically to increase the tendency to 'keyhole' the target and tear flesh as it degrades.

I issue lolheavy armour that can stop several .30-06 armour piercing rounds.

It's also like 30 lbs.
