Introduction
Lackadaisical has a relatively short history following its break from the Empire of Natovski in the year 1544 AD. At that time it was surrounded by hostile nations and besieged on all sides. However, the nation was able to break the will of the aggressors and began on a massive program of assimilating or eliminating those nations which threatened the Lackadaisiclan people, and this practice has continued to the day with aggressive states being gobbled up. By the year 1921, the nation had grown fifty fold in size and the population had boomed to nearly one billion, completely overshadowing the Empire which it had seceded from. Lackadaisical now plays a powerful, if primarily peaceful role on the world stage, engaging the world solely through diplomacy and trade.

A total of one hundred Senators and one thousand Representatives were elected two years ago to serve a five year term.
The Congressional Building: Completed in 1723 to house the newly formed government. Its needed considerable interior redesigns to accommodate the influx in representatives.


Judicial Branch:
Supreme Court appointed for life by the current Supreme Court, with congressional approval, but subject to rejection by referendum. If two successive choices have been rejected by referendum, the power of appointment is moved to the President, if one of these appointments are rejected by referendum, an election is held with the winner of the plurality of votes taking up the position. A total of 15 Justices sit on the bench to interpret the constitution. Any decisions are binding for every administrative division of Lackadaisical.

Political Parties:

Anarchist Party: Campaigns for the abolition of the current constitution and replacement with a purely direct-democracy system, abolition of the courts and majority of the federal government. Won 3% of the vote for Senate and 21 of the seats on the House.
Commerce Party:Campaigns primarily on economic issues, expanding trade, often works together with the Conservative party. Recently won 11% of the vote for Senate, and holds 125 of the seats in the House. Sitting president is from this party.
Communist party: Won less than 1% of the vote, not represented in the government.
Constitutional Party: A conservative group, campaigns on staying the course. Most recently won 38% of the vote for Senate and has over half of the seats in the House (506).
Green Party: Campaigns on increased environmental protections, primarily as a property rights issue, also attempts to capture the anti-slavery vote. Recently won 31% of the vote for Senate and 321 of the seats in the House.

Overview:
The Lackadaisiclan economy is massive in size, with a per capita income of $41,275 the majority of Lackadaisiclans are well off, and comfortable. However, there exists a two-tiered system where a considerable number of Lackadaisiclans are left out of increasing economic growth either through lack of education and skills or, less likely, slavery often to pay for debts or illness. The SL economy is extremely varied, highly complex and technologically advanced. Most of all the economy is based on free market principles as enshrined in the constitution. While small segments of the population may live in communes or other considerably unorthodox arrangements. Many thanks. The Aequilibras libertas(sp?) does look nice, but several other nations display it prominently already, I suppose the same could be said of the ama gi, but it seems less prominently displayed.

Our people buy bodies which have been sold by the owners (Generally the person to eb eaten, before they die, signs a contract giving permission for their body to be processed, often for a lump sum is given in return). Murder and its relatives are not legal here.
