Nation Name: the Voerdish Free State
Form of Government: Federal directorial republic
Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials): All of them.
Civil Rights: No slavery, no racial discrimination, no gender discrimination, no religious discrimination, all sexual orientations are legal (except those harming other people).
Culture: There are many religions (mostly Calvinism and Traditional Voerdish Polytheism) here, but our government is strictly secular. There are no conservative politicians (because most of our people allow everything that isn't harming them, so laws based on the morality are considered odd and stupid) in Voerdeland, one of the two main political parties is libertarian (the Whigs), and the second one is liberal socialist (the Jacobins). We have no caste system.
Nationalism: (How attached are your people to their nation, how do they regard outsiders, how much resistance would an occupier have to contend with and of what types?) Voerdish nationalism means that people believe in our superiority over other nations because of our multiculturalism.
Warfare: The Navy is the most respected branch of the military. Our National Guard has never commited a war crime. We have WMDs.

Tavan Race

The piteously limited lifespan of the Tavans would raise some sympathy, especially amongst the necrontyr segment of the population. The potential existence of a “deity” would ironically raise some distaste among those same persons. For similar historical reasons their physical form would not be seen as desirable. Emphasis on biotechnology and creating sapient servant species (especially) is seen as anathema. It seems like a society waiting for the other shoe to drop on the way it works, and a long period of study would probably be justified to learn how the essentially anarchic system of government operates. Nonetheless this species is labelled mostly harmless and assigned no special priority until more is learnt.

The Andromeda Islands

There appears to be no information on this society that makes it any special priority either, although it seems reasonable in all respects. The default assimilation policy would be used here, consisting primarily of allowing an indefinate period of independence while economically encouraging integration into the C’tani empire.

Fulma

We are uncertain if there are actually Jedi Knights in Fulma or merely lay followers; in the case of the former, a thorough investigation into their training procedures would be required, as we disapprove of childhood recruitment. In the latter it is no issue. Other than that and perhaps an excess of militarism there appear to be no immediate issues that need to be dealt with.

The Nuclear Fist

“The only true way to occuppy the planet would be to wipe out the Chimera.”

This is not a problem for us.

Ideally we would keep the children alive (the same ability to empathize with Arthropoda Ingens would apply to the Chimera) via non-lethal methods and anyone that surrendered, during an enormously bloody campaign of intense ground warfare. Frankly this all sounds like enormous fun to us.

The No-Freedom Zone

Oddly enough, despite repudiating the notion of freedom, we wouldn’t actually do much to this place due to its small size. We would merely enforce an escape route for anyone that wants out and let it continue doing whatever it is that it does to anyone that consents to stay unless the oppression gets entirely too egregious. Our sociologists would be most interested in the place. Of course, we would also enforce the category of ‘Universal Law’ on the NFZ and prosecute/persecute anyone murdering, torturing, enslaving, and similar crimes.

The Strogg

If it is not possible to restore individuality to infested individuals, the holdings of this hegemonising swarm would be reduced to debris and smoking craters.

If it is possible to restore individuality, then obviously this would be done.

Should it be found responsible for its actions, the Mackron would be extracted from its construct-housing in order to live out the rest of its life in a pain amplifier for its crimes.

The Northern Celts

A suitable candidate would be sent to integrate themselves into this society and fight their way to the leadership position. Trivial lies would be given to some degree to enforce the basics of law, but the barbaric ferocity would be a matter for the individuals involved to solve themselves, while also allowing the recruiting of military units from these lands.

Voerdeland

Calvinist liberals? How odd. Nonetheless, this nation seems generally agreeable to us, and as it seems to have no problems, requires little guidance from us. We should probably send them a box of fine cigars or something.

Nation Name: The Dominion of Wanjestay
Form of Government: Dictatorship but with elections for everything but the leader.
Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials)
Civil Rights: No oppression here, being a race of supernaturals discrimination is considered ludicrous.
Culture: no dominant religion or ideology although politicians are avoided like the plague
Nationalism: An occupier would have to contend with a large amount of resistance, however only if they oppressed them. some amount of autonomy would be preferred.
Warfare: No real atrocities, unless you count the eternal damnation of a slain enemy's soul (those shamans can be a bitch). speciality is the non-conventional. our forests are full of werewolf packs hunting your men. our cities full of vampires and shamans. our clairvoyants can find your men anywhere and our necromancers will bring them back from the dead to help our cause. half-demon assault teams tear through your fortifications and our witches and sorcerers put aside racial and gender rivalry to summon all kinds of demonic entities. (its terrifying for your men to first be put into a binding spell then have baal suck out their souls leaving the bodies for our necromancers.)

OOC: Important question, do your vampires suck on random civillians or what? How do they feed themselves?

most feed on vagrants usually, or criminals and are taught to take enough to last several days. however to continue to live they must make one kill a year near the anniversary of their death. those that attack innocents are dealt with either by the Council for Supernatural Affairs, the wider vampire community or the Gregori Guards

[*]Nation Name: The Nearxuyiaro Galactic Empire
[*]Form of Government: Imperial
[*]Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials) Free Speech is for Nearxuyiaro only, everything else listed there is allowed.
[*]Civil Rights: (How does your culture treat diversity; does slavery exist, do you oppress ethnic or sexual groups to conform with the majority? Are any groups of persons denied rights based on anything such as race, religion, gender, etc, if so whom and why?) All none-Nearxuyiaro are enslaved and locked down on their worlds or other habitats. As long as the Random Enslaved Things don't attempt any up rising and publicly worship the God Emperor they are normally allowed to continue life as normal.
[*]Culture: (Is there a dominant religion, militant atheism, overwhelming political ideology, cultural trend towards art? Is there a class system?) The dominant religion is that of the God Emperor who reunited the empire. Political ideology is conservative. There are only two classes: Nearxuyiaro and the lesser Enslaved Random Things.
[*]Nationalism: (How attached are your people to their nation, how do they regard outsiders, how much resistance would an occupier have to contend with and of what types?) Very attached, they would do everything in their power to inflict damage on enemy military forces from detonation of large matter/antimatter to removing the build limitation on surviving Commanders allowing massive growth of AI controlled war machines as long as there are resources to be harvested and reactors to provide power. Any remaining ships would gather together and launch massive hit and run tactics to take out key enemy installations, fleet concretions, etc.etc.etc.
[*]Warfare: (Are you any good at it? Any specialties (naval etc) Does your culture commit warcrimes? How do you treat your prisoners of war?) We mainly rely on orbital weapons platforms and the navy for defense or putting down any rebellions. Ground warfare is where we truly overpower others due to vastly superior armor and firepower. We treat PoW's as well as our enemy treats any Nearxuyiaro they capture.

  1. Nation Name: The Batory Empire
  2. Form of Government: Absolute Matriarchal Monarchy
  3. Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials) There isn't total free speech. Criticizing Imperial policy is completely legal and not discouraged in the least. A high standard of living and contentment for as many Imperial citizens as possible is the goal of the Empress, as it was for her predecessors, so the nature and breadth of criticism is viewed as a barometer for how Imperial policies are actually working. Self-determination isn't really a big concern, though there is local rule at the town and provincial levels. The many provinces of the Empire have many different forms of provincial governments. Some are constitutional monarchies with parliaments, some are run directly by the military (only the outer and most recently acquired provinces), while some are even republics. They can make their own laws to address the issues of the provinces, as long as they don't contradict Imperial law. As for property rights... there's really no such thing in the Empire. You see, the Empire is the personal holding of the Matriarch of the Batory Clan (the official, long-form name actually translates to "The Empire Belonging to the Matriarch of the Batory Clan"), so technically, she owns everything. In practice, the economy is more like normal, regulated capitalism, just with extremely easy eminent domain for the Imperial government, and the knowledge that corporations must avoid pissing off the Empress and her Adjuncts too much. Law is actually fairly normal, though autocratic. The Empress can void anyone's privilege to a jury trial and appoint a judge if she feels it necessary, as can her Adjuncts (this is rarely done, though, only for very high profile cases).
  4. Civil Rights: (How does your culture treat diversity; does slavery exist, do you oppress ethnic or sexual groups to conform with the majority? Are any groups of persons denied rights based on anything such as race, religion, gender, etc, if so whom and why?)
The Empire is very diverse, containing dozens of ethnic groups. This is not really viewed as a problem, as long as everyone's abiding by the law and so on and so forth. The Empire does not discriminate on the basis of ethnic background. Similarly, it does not discriminate on the basis of sexuality. Homosexuality/bisexuality is a non-issue in the Empire. It's not viewed as strange to have many sexual partners or to prefer sexual partners of one gender over the other. In the Imperial province (the core of the Empire and location of the capital, Sarkanotthon), there is a slight cultural discrimination on the basis of gender, for instance, in its marriage laws. Polyandry is legal, but polygyny for men is not. Slavery does exist, but as a sentence for various crimes. The length of the sentence varies depending on the severity of the crime. It is not based on anything but an individual's status as a convict. Children of slaves obviously are not slaves themselves, not having been convicted of any crimes.
  5. Culture: (Is there a dominant religion, militant atheism, overwhelming political ideology, cultural trend towards art? Is there a class system?) The Empire is to a great degree multicultural, due to having so many ethnic groups. The majority of the populace follows some pagan religion or another. The largest one is the ancient pagan faith of the Imperial Clan (the Batorys themselves), and in the capital, Ithtyr is the most revered goddess. However, there are many other religious paths, including Abrahamic (Christian/Muslim/Jewish) minorities. Politically, opinions are wide-ranging, though the dominant one obviously is absolute monarchism (some even believe the Empress semi-divine, though this is a view only held by the more fanatically loyal to the Empire). Many foreigners would find the Empire bizarre because its traditional views of morality are not based upon an Abrahamic religion. Thus, while being staunchly traditional by its own standards, the Empire often appears quite liberal and even hedonist (there is no taboo regarding sex whatsoever, even to the extent that in the Imperial province, public sex is legal as long as it's not obstructing foot or motor traffic, there is no stigma attached to abortion, or various kinds of sexuality, or to transgendered people, drug laws are rather lax, no laws about public nudity, prostitution is completely legal and highly respected, etc.) to those not familiar with its ways. It is often called "exotic" by the tourists who come here. It is also traditional for citizens to carry melee weapons (swords, maces, warhammers, battle axes, daggers, etc.) around with them, which sometimes makes outsiders nervous. The Empire's dominant culture reveres artistic creation and so the citizenry is prolific when it comes to artistic output, producing a large number of visual art pieces, music and film. However, the lack of any kind of censorship or cultural taboo regarding the depiction of graphic sexual acts and violence means that many works from the Empire are controversial overseas. Architecture, a form of expression quite visible to the visiting foreigner, is notably decorative, and at times, whimsical. Calling a design "boring" is the wost insult one can level at an Imperial architect. Of an interesting note are the moroii, a race which includes the Empress and her clan. These are what might be called "living vampires." They generally feed from donors or from a sort of blood bank. The Empress only feeds from donors, as many regard it as an honor to supply her. Beyond the moroii, some clans of which could constitute what one might call an aristocracy, though this wouldn't really be accurate (they're more like a warrior/priest class), there isn't much of a class system. Government appointments are meritocratic.
  6. Nationalism: (How attached are your people to their nation, how do they regard outsiders, how much resistance would an occupier have to contend with and of what types?) Imperial citizens, often regardless of their ethnicity, regard themselves as more civilized and sophisticated than most foreign nations. So, while they are quite open to immigration, viewing the desire to be an Imperial citizen as an individual's drive to be civilized and refined, like they are, they are quite hostile to aggression by foreign governments and believe most to be corrupt, inept, and tyrannical. Due to the level of concern for their well-being the Empress shows, citizens are quite fond of their ruler and hold a very high opinion of her and her family. As the Empire has mostly expanded rather than contracting, there hasn't been much call for resisting invasion, so far. However, the citizens do, bizarrely enough, view themselves as being free and are loyal to Empire as an institution, believing it to be a great endeavor that improves the quality of life of everyone inside it, and so would be rather prone towards rabid defense of it. This goes doubly for the Imperial province, the oldest part of the Empire and the one ruled by the Empress directly, rather than through a provincial government. The aforementioned fanatics who regard the Empress as a demi-goddess mostly reside here, and most citizens of this province share the culture and religion of the Empress. However, some of the outer provinces might be more easily conquered, having been annexed more recently and so still harbor some resentment at being incorporated into the Empire.
  7. Warfare: (Are you any good at it? Any specialties (naval etc) Does your culture commit war crimes? How do you treat your prisoners of war?)The Empire is very militaristic, having been built through force of arms. The Government tries to maintain a well balanced military, and its ability to do so is helped greatly by the Empire's massive size, allowing certain regions to specialize in the support of certain forces (the northwest provinces are renowned for their naval tradition and shipbuilding ability/capacity). Mobility of forces is one thing the Empire excels in, though it certainly isn't unable to play defense, either, as it maintains many fortresses that would be very difficult nuts to crack. The Empress also maintains an elite cadre of assassins/operatives called the Dragon's Claw. In wartime, these are often sent out to sabotage the enemy, especially through the slaughter of important military (and sometimes political) leaders. This may be considered a war crime by some, but the Empress doesn't see how the lives of more influential people are any more sacred than those of common soldiers, war is war. The propensity for war crimes depends on the adversary and commanders. Against a truly hated adversary, some commanders, such as Darvuls, will commit horrendous atrocities (including the infamous "hour of blood" waged against captured cities). Enemy leaders, if captured, will sometimes become human sacrifices and/or meals for the Batory and Darvul clans. Against a more respected foe, the behavior of the Empire's forces will generally be more in keeping with traditional rules of war. Treatment of prisoners is largely reciprocal. The default, for an enemy that isn't completely despised, is to give prisoners adequate (if rather uninteresting) food, good lodging conditions, and good medical care. Prisoners are not enslaved, but may choose to work on projects to improve POW camp facilities. The expectation is that the opposing nation will treat Imperial prisoners similarly. If expectations aren't met, prisoner treatment may or may not decline.

1. Nation Name: Federal Republic of Ebonya
2. Form of Government: Chancellor democracy. Although we do have a president, he or she has only representative functions like signing new laws. Laws are passed in the national assembly but must be confirmed by the Federal Council. The chancellor is being elected every four years, simultaneously all representatives for the national assembly are being elected. The Federal Council consists of representatives from the federal states which are assigned by the local ruling party in regional state government.
3. Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials) Yes
4. Civil Rights: (How does your culture treat diversity; does slavery exist, do you oppress ethnic or sexual groups to conform with the majority? Are any groups of persons denied rights based on anything such as race, religion, gender, etc, if so whom and why?) There are anti-discrimination laws in place and our educational system is laid out to promote open-mindedness towards cultural diversity. All sexual orientations are legal except those that harm other living beings especially the defense-less.
5. Culture: (Is there a dominant religion, militant atheism, overwhelming political ideology, cultural trend towards art? Is there a class system?) There is total religious freedom. There is also a complete separation of religion and state. No religious symbols are being displayed in official buildings and schools. Religious practices must take place within the confines of our laws.
6. Nationalism: (How attached are your people to their nation, how do they regard outsiders, how much resistance would an occupier have to contend with and of what types?) The people of Ebonya are patriotic but open-minded. Foreigners are welcome not only as tourists but as immigrants as well. Any military occupation would have to deal with french resistance style guerrilla warfare.
7. Warfare: (Are you any good at it? Any specialties (naval etc) Does your culture commit warcrimes? How do you treat your prisoners of war?) Our military is strictly a defensive force consisting of army, navy, air force and special air/sea forces. There is mandatory military service for all citizens, male and female, of 12 months, from non commissioned officers up the military is a professional army. Our military takes part in peace mission, albeit in logistic ways only.
Our POWs would receive all the rights granted under the Geneva convention.

Wanjestay

There would have to be a massive arrest of Vampires. The Homeless are people too. Vampires are thus murderers. We would try and ensure a way for them to survive without needing to kill, otherwise they’re going to go very hungry indeed. We aren’t terribly worried by most of the supernatural things here, and have plentiful devices and units entirely specialized in dealing with them and our military is entirely made of machines generally described as already being ‘soulless.’ On the flip side, we don’t really dislike the supernatural as a rule either. Other than these things it would be considered quite even handedly. The Leader would have to be removed from power however.

Nearxuyiaro

At least it’s honest? We would probably call Nearxuyiaro ‘Random Things’ just for the fun of it. The potential proliferation of Von Neumann machines would mean that any military campaign would be prosecuted with more force and less discernment than usual in order to rapidly conquer and prevent the hostilities being prolonged by this proliferation. The God-Emperor would of course suffer the usual fate of slavers.

Batorys

The good news is that C’tani would like these people. Their state would be a popular destination for tourists, source of cultural goods, clothing, art and literature, as well as to a limited degree architecture (and architectural embellishments). The Empress herself would be retained in her position and with most of her powers intact, and probably invited to a lot of C'tani social events, although the notion of C’tani ‘Universal Law’ would be imposed for serious crimes at a level contravening her judgement. C’tani lack the dictates of Abrahamic faiths, primarily drawing our cultural heritage from non-human sources along with some earth nations with for the most part a lack of such faiths, and would not find anything described too unusual. (Common, though it exists as a kink and is zoned for among the C’tani) public sex would be seen as a little crude though, not permitting as much intimacy as desired. There is an active tradition of openly carrying weapons both archaic and modern among the C’tani.

The bad news is that there are some things that need to go. The C’tani would have to further liberalize the marriage laws to eradicate discrimination against males; the culture can regulate what’s acceptable, that is not the business of law. The Moroii would suffer a fate quite different from the vampires of Wanjestay, but those who have fed on innocents or participated in human sacrifice would enjoy a trip to our marvelous penal system. War-criminals where such things can be said to be unjustified would also be donning cute white jump-suits in a prison. A full review of the Batorys penal system would be required; while we have no problem with the notion of work for prisoners, the corruption inherent in such a system is to be taken into account.

For the sake of comparison our own equivalent does not regard prisoners as slaves, but while it does allow certain prisoners the option of being released from custody on parole. This is to the supervision of responsible persons (this is due to the belief that incarceration is the most damaging form of punishment, isolating a social being from regular contact) or AI monitoring, depending on the preferences expressed. It is illegal to use such persons as employees, along with various other things, as well as mandating comprehensive inspections. Such a scheme would probably be introduced in Bathorys.

Conscription would be abolished; while combat and military training is educational, we do not agree with the notion of actual conscription into an armed force per se.

Sungai Pusat

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a factbook link in your sig.

Ebonya

As a responsible and reasonably free nation there is nothing pressingly needing changing here, and incorporation into the C’tani empire should likely be voluntary.

  1. Nation Name: The Soviet Technocracy
  2. Form of Government: Semi-Limited Autocracy
  3. Political Rights: Lol no election for you, here is a referenda so you can decide on our new laws. Trials, also, tend to be fairly fair, unless there's a hugely powerful CEO or corporate board member getting arrested (like that'll happen). In which case he'll usually get off scot-free unless where is some ridiculously obvious evidence in favour of a conviction. Free speech is held in high regard and there are no laws prohibiting any manner of speech. Generally, insulting the government without backing your claims up with a coherent argument is frowned upon (ex. Right-wing nutjobs screaming about Obama being muslim or Kenyan would be laughed or yelled at).
  4. Civil Rights: Prejudice based on race, religion, skin colour, sexuality, etc. is almost non-existent. Rather it has been replaced by prejudice based on character and willingness to work. Those unfortunates who prefer apathy and laziness to work are often scorned and rarely given charity (although people who, for example, sick or down on hard times are helped quite a bit); while hard workers and the equally few who decide to start from the bottom and claw their way to the top through sheer, blind determination are praised. Civil freedoms are often excessive, leaning towards anarchic, with only capital crimes (ex. murder, rape, treason, etc. etc.) and crimes against property (ex. burglary, arson, vandalism, etc. etc.) being illegal. There are almost no morality laws (obscenity, what's that?!), most anything sexual is legal, including public sex and bestiality (even if the previous two examples are met with disgusted expressions by most Soviets).
  5. Culture: Deistic, faith-based religion isn't dominant in the Soviet Technocracy, quite the opposite, atheism, deism and pantheism are popular moreso than Abrahamic religions. Thus, religion wouldn't be a true binding factor for the Soviet people; but art museums, opera houses, live plays, and music in general is held in high-esteem among the Soviet people. However, truly Soviet plays and operas are few and far between, with most opera being German or French in origin, as the Soviet nation has yet to branch out from it's cultural roots. Cuisine is also another high point of Soviet culture, with a much larger and more diverse selection of originality than other aspects of Soviet culture. Most of these dishes are German or English, with various twists and twirls added to make it unique. This results in a strange, but hardly negative, combination of European cooking styles.
  6. Nationalism: Soviet citizens are, after some years of near total anarchic liberty, prone to opposing anything that would dare restrict their freedoms. Despite being an autocracy, the Soviet nation has some limited referenda regarding law and domestic issues (although most foreign policy decisions are entirely under the control of the government), so there isn't a revolt every time the government tries to up the national sales tax a percentage. Although that's an exaggeration, the Soviet populace does indeed enjoy it's slightly awkward system of government (mostly because their autocrat has been kind enough to grant them ridiculous amounts of freedom), and would probably take up arms if a foreign occupier arrived. In general, there is a large amount of patriotism, nationalism and other -isms in the Technocracy, much to the bemusement of tourists and immigrants from more "democratic" states. Immigration has hardly been a problem, and most citizens are perfectly fine with it, since xenophobia is a rare issue (unless you're lazy); in the case of the latter this usually means that the immigrant is sorted out by the market within months and no one has to worry about him anymore.
  7. Warfare: The Soviet Technocracy maintains a massive military, primarily to enforce it's will upon lesser, more communist nationstates. In general, the Soviet Star Navy receives the largest percentage of funding, along with it's child branch the Star Infantry. The Soviet Army and Air Force are next, followed by the Soviet Marine Corps and Navy. While the Soviet Army is primarily geared towards an offensive war, it can usually conduct a fairly nasty defensive war (especially with help from irregular forces like paramilitaries and rampant militias, and armed citizenry in general). The Soviet Star Navy is similarly geared towards the offensive battle, and transporting the Army from planet to planet.

In general, emphasis is placed on quick assaults, nuclear weapons (nuclear weapons), and maneuver warfare. The Soviet military in general is stuck in the mindset that most conflicts are fought with a combined arms focus, instead of the truth that most wars are able to won from sheer orbital superiority. Thus, the Soviets would normally anticipate a ground and air campaign, backed up by orbital units for massive fire support (Soviet warships are, by nature, ridiculously overpowered for a point targeting role). This is reflected in the composition of the Soviet Army, which places a heavy emphasis on coordination from the Air Force for tactical and interdiction missions, as well as FORCAPs for Army CAS strike planes (the Army operates a limited number of A-10-like aircraft for tank busting and close air support, which it feels that the Air Force is inadequate for).

Most Soviet Army vehicles use diesel and fossil fuel propulsion (while civilian vehicles use hydrogen or electric due to abundant fission and fusion reserves), and maintain large POL depots in most major forts. The same is with Soviet aircraft and smaller warships like corvettes (other Navy warships use nuclear fusion). Thus, a large reliance on supply lines and logistics convoys is obvious, and protected adequately against an adversary of similar strength to the Soviet Army (note: necrons are not of similar strength). This, combined with a use of kinetic and explosive-based weapons makes the Soviet military vulnerable to interdiction, direct action, and rear area attacks. Massive use of nuclear weapons, down to platoon level infantry units, combined arms with orbital assets, and training for offensive operations and nuclear battlefield operations would probably make a direct, frontal assault by even the most powerful opponents futile unless there was an overwhelming advantage in orbital or numerical superiority.

Public sex is legal in parts of the Empire. That doesn't mean all sex is public. The Batory clan themselves would not like monogamy imposed on them, but would probably just continue having the same sorts of relationships, but without legal marriages.

It is not normal for moroii to attack people to feed in the Empire. Usually they have donors, or purchase what they need. As for human sacrifice, in modern times, it's basically used as the Imperial form of capital punishment. If convicted and sentenced to death, a criminal will eventually be turned over to the clergy to use.

As said, the system of slavery is called that mainly because the Batory Empire never felt the need to dress it up as something else. While those sentenced to terms of slavery are auctioned off to private citizens, the terms are limited in duration (most times) and there are strict laws in place governing what sort of work they can do (they cannot work in factories or in fields), and how they are to be treated.

Still, good that it would be a relatively painless transition.

Nation Name: The Rogue Lands of Zahara Zanzi

Form of Government: "Benevolent" dictatorship ("libertarian police state"), formerly a sort of "free for all" before the founder's son took over.

Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials) Citizens can say what they want, but better be prepared for any consequences they bring upon themselves. There hasn't been 100% unbiased trials in the history of the nation, but you still have a chance for a fair trial. As far as property rights go, you own your plot of land until you can no longer keep/defend it or if the government "removes" you.

Civil Rights: (How does your culture treat diversity; does slavery exist, do you oppress ethnic or sexual groups to conform with the majority? Are any groups of persons denied rights based on anything such as race, religion, gender, etc, if so whom and why?) The Rogue Land is primarily made up of immigrants (exiles, refugees, defectors, etc), so diversity is well-appreciated and part of life. Same goes with ethnic/sexual/religious/gender (you get the idea) groups, until the dictator suddenly changes his mind. "Everyone is 'oppressed' equally."

Culture: (Is there a dominant religion, militant atheism, overwhelming political ideology, cultural trend towards art? Is there a class system?) N/a

Nationalism: (How attached are your people to their nation, how do they regard outsiders, how much resistance would an occupier have to contend with and of what types?) Surprisingly, the people are generally attached to the nation as it is an anchorpoint and/or a new home despite how hard it is. Most regard outsiders with initial suspicion, but depending on their culture they can be hospitable or not. Depending on the method, ideology, or even look of the invader/occupier the resistance would be great (government-forced action), moderate (guerilla-style independent fighting) or low (nationals welcoming the occupier).

Warfare: (Are you any good at it? Any specialties (naval etc) Does your culture commit war crimes? How do you treat your prisoners of war?) The standing army is new and relatively untested, though the special "security force" is very good at what it does. Political prisoners/prisoners of war can/do expect "less-than-stellar" treatment.

  1. Nation Name: The Confederation of Solar Communes
  2. Form of Government: Nonexistent. Free association and direct action, combined with access to advanced technologies that empower the individual to have virtually no dependence upon centralized organizations are the most fundamental features of the Confederation.
  3. Political Rights: Easier to mention the ones that do not exist: none. Of course, alien and furries won't have any rights.
  4. Civil Rights: Solarians are diverse, and thus they tend to grant every possible civil rights to others whose consciousnesses aren't truly "alien". On the other hand, their reputation regarding their treatment of aliens that truly pose a threat to humanity or practice disgusting activities like slavery is not exaggerated. Also, the idea of fair trials is forgotten. What happens in Solar Communes may be called by the bourgeois, fascist and stalinist pigs as "mob justice".
  5. Culture: Religion has become obsolete for milennia. Solarians have a nearly fanatical devotion to freedom, and would prefer, for example, suicide to slavery. Of importance to their culture, as well, is their self-replicating and shape-shifting nature and the biting irony of the fact they are, under any classification, definitively not human, even if they, out of cultural bonds, insist to stick to human shapes, behavior and culture.
  6. Nationalism: Solarians are open to visitors, but suspicious of aliens, even if no longer openly hostile as they once were, and they only allow humans and derivatives like those taller with pointy ears, those shorter with big beards etc etc(as long as such derivatives don't involve yiffing) to immigrate to their systems. They don't really believe in nations, considering the multiverse as One, to be freed from all forms of tyranny once enough eons of struggle have passed.
  7. Warfare: Back when they resided only in an universe where FTL travel was impossible, they were involved in a 3000-year war against a fascist interstellar power known as the Global State, where they mastered the arts of orbital warfare and of rapidly setting up industrial bases. Combined with their new nature, they have the conditions to deplete, if necessary, entire solar systems of raw materials for a war effort. There is no centralized military, however, only several private forces that more or less coordinate efforts between themselves. Expeditions to purge aliens deemed a threat to their freedom and survival that border the systems occupied by the Confederation are common, done by private groups that have no accountability. It is unknown how many xenos have been put to extinction by them, because of the lack of registers. And finally, they'd prefer suicide to the loss of their freedoms, and if they would ever end losing a war, they'd be willing to destroy entire solar systems, including themselves, and everything first, than to let everything fall into alien or fascist hands, due to their belief that liberty is far more important than survival.

Benevolent Dictatorship

Postby New Amerik » Mon Aug 16, 2010 2:41 am

Nation Name: The Holy Divisional Technocracy of New Amerik
Form of Government: Er....An Oligarchy, spearheaded by a Benevolent Dictator
Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials) New Amerik has very few, even non-existent political rights by our own measures. Voting and elections are, of course, illegal; if the people want something to be changed, they can try to take it with the Empire, and even then they better have some damn good reasons for why it should be changed. Free Speech is limited in that one may not advocate the changing of the government or open critisizing of it's policies. As for property, all property belongs to the Government; one must be of worth to the government to own land (as worth is physically expressed through money, it consists of mainly buying the land). As for trials, they are fair but heavily skewed towards Amerikans.
Civil Rights: (How does your culture treat diversity; does slavery exist, do you oppress ethnic or sexual groups to conform with the majority? Are any groups of persons denied rights based on anything such as race, religion, gender, etc, if so whom and why?) NO. As there are a total of over 532 different sapient species living in New Amerik (alas, the human portion in many cases cannot physically see them), any sort of discrimination except against UnAmerikans is illegal. Sexuality is also completely open, as is marriage; if the parties can swear in court it was consentual, there is nothing stopping them from having relations. Slavery is also illegal; only UnAmerikan are used as forced labor, and they aren't people so it doesn't matter.
Culture: (Is there a dominant religion, militant atheism, overwhelming political ideology, cultural trend towards art? Is there a class system?) The dominant religion is Vasquailism, a beleif in the Emperor and Empress as living gods, a fact that the Emperor publicly denies but, unknown to him, will become true after his death. They also worship Science and Progress, without morality. Amerikans as a whole tend to be Socialist or fascist, hate democracy, hate communism, and hate anarchy. Most culture comes from books, novels, the written word as a whole, and to a much lesser extent moies, but no television. Young people also enjoy this dance genre called "techno", and the nation's entertainment is particularly inclined towards the newest scientific invention.
Nationalism: (How attached are your people to their nation, how do they regard outsiders, how much resistance would an occupier have to contend with and of what types?) Most Amerikans are rather proud of their country, and tend to look down on Non-Amerikans as not being under as nice a government. They absolutely depsise UnAmerikans. If someone were to occupy the country, much, if not all of the country would rebel openly, violently, and unethically. Suicide bombers, secretly assasinating military officers, spreading plagues, even detonating miniature nuclear devices. The doktors would even summon the Elder Gods, and other daemonic entities, upon the assailants. Add to that the fact that much of Earth would join them in open warfare, violently conquering it is a bad idea, and simply exterminating it can't prevent them from using the Gods to do their last, hate filled bidding until the oppressor is dead.
Warfare: (Are you any good at it? Any specialties (naval etc) Does your culture commit warcrimes? How do you treat your prisoners of war?)

New Amerik likes its military, even though they aren't needed much. The military is given top-of-the line equipment, ranging from chemicals that simply destroy nature, to mechs with inbuilt tactical nukes, to daemons, psychics, and Elder Gods. New Amerik's view towards war prisoners is that, as they are UnAmerikan, they are the anti-thesis of all that is good and right in the universe, and must be destroyed as an act of mercy.

However, we would rather prefer not to fight, if just left alone to bend reality to our will accidentally.

1. Nation Name: Klaus Devestatorie
2. Form of Government: Empire. Klaus Devestatorie is at the centre of a massive puppet empire. All nations within the puppet empire are free to govern themselves however they choose, although Klaus Devestatorie is free to edit the way these governments are set up (along with their laws) at will. Naturally, to ensure people do not rise up against the Empire, Klaus Devestatorie does not fiddle with areas of the puppet empire pointlessly, illogically or to deliberately oppress (unless not doing so would be pointless and illogical).
3. Political Rights: Most of the usual rights, minus democracy. However, many parts of the puppet empire surrounding Klaus Devestatorie -are- democracies. People are free to move between various parts of Klaus Devestatorie and the rest of the puppet empire to a place that they politically agree with (to within acceptable boundaries- if there appears to be a major shift to or from certain parts, Klaus Devestatorie will order the governments there to either deradicalise. Alternatively, if this is not working, Klaus Devestatorie will block immigration/emigration to or from the area (whichever is necessary), to ensure the empire is at acceptable levels of population everywhere.
4. Civil Rights: Genders are treated equally. The fact that Klaus Devestatorie is in the centre of it's own puppet empire, combined with the fact that Immigration and Emigration to anywhere but other parts of the puppet empire itself means that very few, if any people of other races are ever seen anywhere in Klaus Devestatorie at all, although there are few cases of outright racism. Slavery is a criminal punishment.
5. Culture: Religion is based around two churches; Recently, the church of Imperialia, which is mostly the same as traditional mainstream roman catholicism with the idea of the national motto of Klaus Devestatorie incorporated into the religion. Teltharchy, based around the worship of a fair and level headed entity known as Telthas, is slowly being phased out.
6. Nationalism: Most people know no alternative but Klaus Devestatorie and the idea that they could be occupied by another nation is generally deemed to be ridiculous. People from foreign nations generally make no contact with anywhere but the government and international corporations based in Klaus Devestatorie. If a nation was actually able to get a military force to capture Klaus Devestatorie itself, it would first need to fight its way through the rest of the puppet empire surrounding it (around 40-50x bigger than Klaus Devestatorie itself), then completely and utterly defeat and occupy the rest of the puppet empire (a massive task, given than there is estimated to be 150,000,000,000+ citizens within the puppet empire). Given the sheer size of the area, it is almost impossible to tell how the individual citizens would react, as freedom of speech and information mean there is a large variance of opinion amongst people. Billions would welcome a change of regime, Billions would raise arms against the occupiers.
7. Warfare: Klaus Devestatorie is generally quite good at warfare. While civillian technology tends to stay at MT, military technology can range all the way up to PMT. Klaus Devestatorie generally treats prisoners of war within accepted norms, although particularly hated foes could expect their PoW's to be treated like criminals. The Air Force of Klaus Devestatorie is exceptionally strong and well trained, with all parts of the air force being Klaus Devestatorie designed helicopters, jet fighters, bombers and other aircraft, all of which are at PMT levels.

Note: Given that C'tan Empire is willing to deal with multiple tech levels, I figure I'd put out the full version of the way I think of Klaus Devestatorie, including the full size of the puppet empire that I've made to represent it elsewhere as a gameplayer.

Father Knows Best State

Postby Old Tyrannia » Mon Aug 16, 2010 3:19 am

I've filled in two seperate forms for my FT and MT nations.
Nation Name: The Tyranno-Sinosian Empire
Form of Government: Effectively an interstellar unitary state and dictatorship/junta.
Political Rights: Technically, we have freedom of speech, but the Sinosians usually dictate what one's opinion is via telepathy, if one's natural thoughts are found... Distasteful. No elections.
Civil Rights: Since the Sinosians took over leadership of the old Empire from the Tyrannians and their nutty Emperor, society has been made much more equal, though slavery still exists; in effect, all peoples are slaves to the Sinosians. Tyrannians and Sinosians are the ruling factions of the Empire, and other species that have been under Imperial rule for a long time benefit from great influence. Newly conquered species tend to be treated more harshly.
Culture: There are dozens of religions and cultures in the Empire, but the Sinosians and the Tyrannians are both strictly atheist. Sinosians have an almost Buddhist-like philosophy revolving around enlightenment and order. Tyrannian culture is very much influenced by ancient Rome.
Nationalism: The Sinosians are paranoid and see most outsiders as potential threats that must be eliminated; the Tyrannians, by contrast, simply despise all other species. This union of xenophobes and all-powerful control freaks make the Empire rather aggressive as well as fiercely patriotic. The more influencial species of the Empire share this mentality; 'lesser' species tend to have never heard of outsiders, since the Tyranno-Sinosian government does not like slaves to get too clever.
Warfare: The Empire maintains a large and technologically advanced defence force, with billions of Imperial soldiers and a sizeable spacefleet. Sinosians, while rare and scattered, are dangerous enemies; their psychic abilities are so formidable, the most powerful can mindrape cities and control armies. In addition to well-armed Tyrannian troops, the Empire also likes to zerg rush the enemy with 'expendable' soldiers like Tarantulans or Terrans; then there are more specialised troops like the Skrall warriors or the Seti guard, both excellent close combat fighters. Then there are the tanks and the walker vehicles. In space, the Empire's ships are armed with z-neutrino beams, (Necron-style) gauss weaponry, phasers, anti-matter missiles and cloaking devices.

Nation Name: The Grand Fascist Empire of Old Tyrannia
Form of Government: Fascist semi-constitutional (in reality absolute) monarchy
Political Rights: There is limited freedom of speech and the right to hold property, as well as the right to vote (although the elected government has no more say than a slug that just happens to crawl into the House of Commons). In fact, the Empire is quite a liberal state (for a Fascist monarchy); although there are limits- for instance, Nazis and Communists don't tend to last long.
Civil Rights: There is no slavery in the Empire, and some protection for minorities (since the Empire is a multi-ethnic society). On the other hand, there is widespread censoring and strict laws and punishment. Execution is very common. It's illegal to criticise the Emperor.
Culture: The Empire is predominantly Tyrannian Orthodox Christian, with a large pagan population. The Emperor is much praised and seen as the rightful ruler of the world in (the) God(s)'(s) eyes. Honour is also very important. There are strict rules of conduct and people have the right to take up arms to defend their honour; honour is seen as the one major thing seperating the Empire to the 'barbarians' outside it's borders. Society is influenced by ancient Rome.
Nationalism: The Empire is incredibly nationalistic; soldiers never surrender and the people see the Empire as the greatest state in history. Indeed, the people are rather fanatical, and any invader would have to deal with fanatical rebellions from the populace should the Empire actually be conquered. The Emperor is worshipped almost as a god- literally as a god by most pagan cults.
Warfare: By MT standards, the Empire has a strong military; 3 million soldiers and advanced technology make this one state that demands respect. Prisoners of war are treated civilly and honour means that it is intolerable to assault non-combatants, but equally the Empire's soldiers are so hyped up on propoganda that very few ever retreat.

1. Nation Name:

The Meritocratic Republic of Neo Prutenia

2. Form of Government:

Unitary, Presidential, Representative, Meritocratic Republic

3. Political Rights: (Do you have rights of free speech, self determination, property rights, unbiased trials)

Yes on all points

4. Civil Rights: (How does your culture treat diversity; does slavery exist, do you oppress ethnic or sexual groups to conform with the majority? Are any groups of persons denied rights based on anything such as race, religion, gender, etc, if so whom and why?)

We're Cosmopolitan in nature; No slavery; No tyranny by the majority; de jure no, but some exceptions exits ( some religious groups would have to make certain sarificeses when they swear to uphold the Constitution - Catholics would have to denounce the Papacy, Moslems would have to renounce the Sharia, etc)

5. Culture: (Is there a dominant religion, militant atheism, overwhelming political ideology, cultural trend towards art? Is there a class system?)

90% are Prut Protestant, 10% Orthodox; Militarism runs deep in the society, atheism not; main political ideaology is Meritocracy, egalitarianism ~ main philosophical approaches to the Prut ideology are Progressive Meritocratic Cosmopolitanism and Conservative Nationalistic Communitarianism; strong artistic traditions, support and development - especially in the fields of music; not really, income equality and a low rich/poor divide ensure that most people are middle class

6. Nationalism: (How attached are your people to their nation, how do they regard outsiders, how much resistance would an occupier have to contend with and of what types?)

Strong Nationalism; tolerant and acceptable; depends solely on the occupiers intentions, methods used, reason for the occupation - if trying to set up shop indefinitely occupier would face pretty strong resistence, insurgencies, rebellions and near constant protests and revolts - if peaceful and non-violent methods fail, asymmetric warfare would begin, failing that, all-out war - a debellatio of Neo Prutenia and the denial of the Prut Sovereign will would never be accepted

7. Warfare: (Are you any good at it? Any specialties (naval etc) Does your culture commit war crimes? How do you treat your prisoners of war?)

Yes; Defensive strategy, Maneuver Warfare, unable to wage Attrition Warfare for prolonged conflicts, Airforce; No, under no circumstances; Fair and Humane, regardless of how our men are treated by the enemy

Factbook would provide more necessary details, but it isn't complete at the moment, so this will have to suffice. Suprise me.
