In Anglynova, there are two different police forces; there are the police forces of provinces and the national police force, the SSD (Special Support Division).

Below is a picture of a group of Novlygon Metropolitan Police Department (NMPD) officers. The police departments of other provinces have similar, almost identical, uniforms.

The Special Support Division, or Sovony Sopvor Dev in Anglynovan, is made up of volunteers from the Armed Service branches. They are the elite of the Anglynovan Military. They perform law enforcement functions in the nation as well as counter-terrorism, intelligence, and sabotage functions.

Below is a group of SSD officers in uniform.

The current service revolver carried is considered adequate as a police sidearm.

Yes, but how's the crime in Phlegethonis?

That's all well and good, but probably not realistic, to be honest.

Crime is going to happen in every society and nation, regardless of what the profile page says.

Simply giving the police bigger guns and having them ride about in armored cars does not equal lower crime rates. In fact, it would likely have the opposite effect as civilians become dissatisfied and rebellious with oppressive and incompetent policing. Using professional, civilian police to actually interact with the communities they are sworn to protect and serve probably would have a better effect, no?

If we're going by what's even remotely realistic. If not, disregard everything I've just said and do whatever you want, lol.

The People's Liberation Army also serves as police force.
Here is a bi-monthly gathering of PLA in the capitol, MaoMarx.

Mass movement such as this occurs everyday in Maolandia, Each work unit coordinates with other work units atleast 4 times a month to practice the unity of mass movement. The gathering for farmers and industrial workers are the largest, as up to 10 gathering are held every months. Notable individuals will present his/her speech, then engage in public self-criticism.

Law Enforcement in the Merchant Republics

Image

Left to Right:

Watchmen/Vigiles (First on the Left):
All Law Enforcement in the Republics begins with each individual citizen, all citizens are empowered to make arrests and uphold the greater law, police officers are simply professionals. Within many smaller and poorer settlements; a professional full-time police force is not affordable and thus the duty of upholding the peace falls to bands of volunteer citizens (occasionally bolstered by a small number of hired professionals to oversee the group) to provide armed protection for their community, they are called Watchmen or Vigiles, they usually wear their own civilian garb with an arm-band indicating their status as members of the Watch so that people can seek their aid.

Private Security (Second):
While all police forces in the Republics are by law privately-owned (to prevent abuse of their power); private security are distinguished from police by having a singular duty first to their employer. Employed throughout the Republics by private citizens, freemen, corporations and community groups. Some are also paid to bolster watch groups and protect small sub-communities. As private firms there are many, many uniforms, but many look like the example.

Gendarmes (Third): Gendarmes are a semi-professional police made up from adjunct members of local militias, used commonly in the more militant Republics and quite particularly in outer colonies where the dangers of colonial life mandate a large standing militia. Staffed mostly by men and women earning their citizenship, they are dedicated if less well-trained than professional police, they are usually very well armed and wear militaristic uniforms, for obvious reason, as militia men they must be prepared.

Professional Police Officers (Fourth, first on the Right): Police Officers in the Republic make up the professional law enforcement and public representatives; while servants of the public, police are officially funded privately through coverage fees (though many Republics do indirectly pay the fees for most of their citizens through vouchers). Due to the relatively low crime rates in the Republics, most professional police forces are mostly there to provide visible presence and have a good deal of spare time to help their community. Some of their unusual duties include finding lost pets, helping people with arguments, watching after children, providing first aid and even helping to find lost items, in some commercial areas they are even provided training to give tourist information and directions. As community representatives they wear distinctive, professional uniforms and are trained to be polite and courteous at all times.
