2026 Primary Crossoverian Presidential Election (OPEN)(POLL)

Postby The Imagination Animals » Mon Jul 20, 2026 3:01 pm

It has been five years since the start of the last Presidential election, which means they are about to commence again. Incumbent Hamad bin Ahmad Al Meskin's term is coming to a close; thus, he will spend the rest of 2026 defending his office against 8 competitors.

This is a very important election. Pressing topics such as anthro rights, Cartoonia, generative AI, the criminal justice system, foreign policy, and religion in politics are all up for contention. The next four months will be a battle for Crossoveria's soul and its future.

STATEMENT FROM THE CROSSOVERIAN ELECTORAL COMMITTEE

In the name of God, the most gracious and merciful.

After extensive discussion and careful consideration, the Crossoverian Electoral Committee is announcing today that there will be important updates for the 2026 Crossoverian presidential election regarding candidate participation and logistics. Please see below the following changes:

  • Candidates will be publishing opinion pieces called “Hot Takes” in the Enqalabistan newspaper. In these pieces, they will produce opinion columns where they describe an issue that is important to them and how they would go about addressing that as President.
  • For the first nine days of the Primary Election, national party conventions will be held in a random order. The Theocratic Party, which currently holds control of the Presidency, will go first.
  • For the primary election, a special ceremony will be held where a representative from the Crossoverian Electoral Committee will announce the four candidates that will be moving into the secondary round in random order.

These changes are made to enhance participation and suspense among the general populace, and to allow the candidates to go into depth about their platforms. At the end of the election, we will collect feedback from voters to see if this system should be maintained for future elections or not.

Thank you all for your attention on this matter. Let the elections commence! Glory to Crossoveria!

Theocratic Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 21 July 2026

As the party currently in charge of the Presidency, the Theocratic Party was the first to convene in Crossoveripolis. 8 other candidates will hold conventions for the next week and a half in random order. In these conventions, candidates will officially nominate their running mates and declare their run for the highest electable office in the country.

The Theocratic Party, also known as the Islamic Party, is the most reactionary and religious out of the eight. Since its founding, it has sought to turn Crossoveria toward the path of Shia Islam, impose Sharia, and provide religious leaders with even more power than allocated. At the same time, the party stands ten toes against liberalism and progressive ideas, supporting many of the Crossoverian regime’s social and civil restrictions and punitive justice. Its top leaders have served in the National Shiite Clergy and are respected scholars in the country’s madrasas. Among them is the current President, Hamad bin Ahmad Al Meskin, who simultaneously served as the Qari for the country’s state television.

The convention was in greater shape than it was five years ago, as the party was. After all, they did win in 2021. It wasn’t only the mullahs that attended this time. In the past five years, the party saw an increase in registrations from across the country both human and anthro registering. 15,000 attendees that are registered with the party attended. They chatted, recited Quran verses, prayed together, and ate at a halal buffet all within the first 2 hours. At the third, the party’s Secretary General, Mohammad Al Abbas, called the attendees in, ready to address them.

“In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful,” he started, collected. “Brothers and sisters, humans, animals, from Crossoveria, from around the world, I would like to thank you for coming to the Theocratic Party Convention! Before I get into the important stuff, I would like to reminisce about our previous successes. Last election was the first time we ever appeared on the ballot in this country. Alhamdulilah, we won that year, and for the next 5 years, we guided this great nation to the path of God. We designated Islam as THE official religion. We saw more restaurants close in observation of Ramadan. We’ve gone after interest. And these are just the major highlights. Shall we win again, we can foresee Crossoveria becoming the perfect Islamic nation.”

The crowd cheered as Al Abbas finished that last sentence, while the Mullahs clapped and sent prayers to God. The applause went on for 10 seconds before Al Abbas continued on with his speech.

“Now, the moment you all have been waiting for. The Theocratic Party nominates, for its candidate for the President of Crossoveria, is… well, the current President! Mr. President, please come up.”

Hamad bin Ahmad Al Meskin proceeded onto the stage to take over the podium for Mohammad Al Abbas. As aforementioned, he has been serving as the President since 2022, having gained widespread popularity for standing up to the Treaty of Elmore, a treaty by Cartoonia that would incapacitate Crossoveria. During his term, he has indeed accomplished what Al Abbas had boasted about; he demoted Hefflism as an official religion despite it being practiced by 42% of the population, and his rule oversaw claims of places being turned into religious institutions. Al Meskin had also been quite authoritarian, rivaling that of former President Travis Mavis, with his response to the demonstrations earlier this year being especially brutal. This, combined with his lengthy support for Iran, has decreased his support among the Crossoverian people. Nonetheless, he persists.

“In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful,” Al Meskin said as he began his speech. “Brothers and sisters, thank you for choosing me to be the party candidate. I know I can’t do this alone. That is why I chose Tariq Al Akhtar as my running mate.”

It was his Vice President, Tariq Al Akhtar, that Al Meskin decided to have as his running mate once again. Before taking on the position, Tariq Al Akhtar was one of the newest members of the Crossoverian Shiite Clergy, having served from 2019. Despite being considered a tad more moderate on implementing Islamic values in Crossoveria as opposed to Al Meskin, he is one of the strongest proponents of Islamization and rule by the Quran, something he has demonstrated throughout his term.

“Thank you, Mr. President,” said Al Akhtar.

“Mashallah,” Al Meskin cheered. He then turned to the crowd. “Well, brothers and sisters, Mr. Al Abbas said it perfectly. We’ve done splendid work in the past 5 years when it came to guiding Crossoveria toward Islam, but our work is not done just yet. And as we are heading into this cycle, I want you all to remember this; a win is not 100% guaranteed, as there are 8 other contenders. And if we lose, all the hard work we have done, our guidance, will be terminated. This is why we must do everything we can to defend the Presidency, to allow us to complete our work in the next five years and fully embrace the light of God. I wish to leave off with this verse. Surah Ali 'Imran (3:147): ‘Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.’ And now, with all that said and done, I accept your nomination for the President of the Veleyati Republic of Crossoveria! Glory to Crossoveria! God is great!”

The crowd cheers with glee.

WE'RE NOT DONE YET!

Babushka Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 22 July 2026

The party at the polar opposite of the Theocratic Party in the political spectrum convened the day after. The Babushka Party is considered the country’s socialist party. A party largely dominated by the working class, the Babushka Party’s goal is to move Crossoveria toward the path of socialism, abolishing private property and enhancing worker’s rights. In more recent years, the party has shifted away from democratic socialist tendencies and towards Marxism-Leninism. Since its foundation, the party has been led by Suhalia Artyamova, known within the party as Babushka due to her resemblance to a Russian grandmother, hence the party name. The Babushka Party is, at the moment, rather small; it holds only 2 of the 60 governorships and 10 out of 300 representative seats. Additionally, the number of registered voters is barely above 1 million.

Unlike the Theocratic Party that convened before them, the Babushka Party kept their convention rather simple. No grand buffet or mass prayer or anything like that. Roughly 6,000 registered party members attended, pretty much what the party had anticipated. 15 minutes after the last person walked into the convention, a band started playing “La Internationale”, with a choir singing the Crossoveriaanz lyrics. After that was done, it wasn’t Artyomova that walked onto the stage, but rather Mustafa Aydem, the party’s previous Presidential nominee.

“Hello comrades,” Mr. Aydem shouted as he went up to the podium, being met with cheers. “Welcome to the Babushka Party national convention! Unfortunately, Babushka Artyomova will not be joining us this time around. She is out on a personal matter. I’m sure you’ve heard about how her husband has been doing lately. She asked me to take up the responsibility for announcing our presidential nominee. Now, with all that said, we have found someone who will be perfect! She came from a rural background, having spent years as a farmer in the countryside of her home province of Argynistan. She represented her people for 11 years in the government before resigning for the interest of her people. She coordinated strikes with Argynistani laborers, prompting the governor at the time to bring about some of the most progressive worker policies in the country. And she currently serves as President of this party’s Women’s Wing. With her help, the Babushka Party can finally implement its socialist ideals across the country. Ladies and gentlemen, we nominate Fatima Karaji.”

Fatima Karaji came up to the stage to steal the podium from him while the people cheered. Everything Aydem said about Karaji was indeed true; she was indeed an agrarian laborer for years before serving in the Crossoverian Law House, and she did resign over the regime’s response to the 2013 protests and has since continued to organize for fellow laborers. What Aydem failed to mention was Karaji was in prison at one point; under Zeeter Saldivar and the ACE’s regime, she was incarcerated for her opposition to the regime. She was quickly acquitted after the regime fell by successor Waldemar Rochester, despite his anti-Communist beliefs, as part of the effort to remove any ACE influence.

“Thank you, Mr. Aydem,” Karaji said in gratitude. She then turned to the public. “And thank you all for your support. It means the world to me. I accept this nomination you have bestowed upon me for the President of the Veleyati Republic!” The crowd cheers.

“Very well,” Aydem said. “And your running mate?”

“Oh yes. I have chosen Mr. Koshari as my Vice President. Mr. Koshari, please come up.”

Ahmad Koshari came up to the stage afterward. Koshari has served in the Crossoverian Law House as a representative for his province of Douopey. Before that, he was a teacher in Montazeri Middle School in his home city of Kiranach throughout the 1990s and 2000s. This was at the height of the economic crisis in the country, during which the city was badly hurt. Poverty in the anthro majority city skyrocketed and many saw their incomes drop, including Koshari. From that point on, Koshari had dedicated his life to the Proletariat.

“Thanks, Ms. Karaji,” he said to her while shaking her hand. “I accept your nomination.”

“Amazing. Great,” Karaji exclaimed. She quickly turned to the public. “Comrades, it’s time for a change! This current system the government has had up and running is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Capitalism disguised as ‘socialism’ that allows private businesses to run and treat the workers how they like. A system which has allowed its leaders to take vacations to Monaco while the majority of people sat in their homes with no electricity or running water for years. A system which has, at this point, completely abandoned the Crossoverian working class. It is time we take over, remove all bourgeois influence in the country, and own the means of production. No longer shall we allow anybody to be oppressed in any way, shape or form. And we mean nobody! Human, anthro, man, woman, Muslim, Hefflist, nobody shall endure this any longer. Shall we win, we will extend equality to everybody regardless of who they are. We will abolish private property completely, pay everyone equally, and end the corruption of years past. Thank you. Glory to Crossoveria!”

IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE!

Krona Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 23 July 2026

The Krona Party met late at the Convention Center today. It is widely considered to be the standard conservative party, not reactionary like the Theocratic or Nezapi parties but certainly far from liberal. The Krona Party supports upholding the Crossoverian system as is, opposing any policies that would make significant changes to the country. And why should they? The Krona Party had the Presidency throughout Marie BonAztire’s 4-decade long Supreme Leadership. Heck, it was BonAztire that oversaw its creation in 1982. Additionally, many BonAztire-era politicians are still serving in the Crossoverian Law House or have significant influence in the country. One is party leader Ali Reza Altkahar, whose brother Hefas served as President from 2002 to 2007.

Now the convention itself wasn’t necessarily empty (it wasn’t as bad as the Babushka when it came to attendance) but it was definitely a sign of their fall from grace. The party currently holds 14/60 governorships and 52/300 representative house seats, a far cry from the nearly 90% dominance just 10 years prior. Membership has also dropped in the past 5 years, and only 8,000 people showed up to the event. Many of those attendees were wealthy elites or politically well connected. It didn’t really seem to bother them that the party was at a new low. Not when they got kookoo sabzi ba zereshk at the buffet.

After long hours of dining, chatting and laughing, Altkahar and General Secretary Gustav Sagdiyev gathered the audience to the stage as they prepared to make their announcement.

“Ladies and gentlemen, can we have your attention,” Mr. Sagdiyev asked. The audience’s voices quickly died down.

“Thank you,” he continued. “I now hand over the rest of this speech to Mr. Ali Reza Altkahar.”

“Thank you Gustav,” said Ali Reza, turning to the audience. “My fellow Crossoverians, thank you all for attending this convention. And thank you so, so much for staying with us after all these years. The past 6 years we’ve been out of the Presidency, it has been, well, to be frank, quite a disaster. First, it was the ACE. Then Kipper Woofler and the liberal Castermans attempted to compromise our sovereignty to Cartoonia and move us to the path of Socialism. And for the past 4 years, we’ve got a literal mullah sitting in the Office of the President, trying to turn our country into our Northern brother [Iran]. The Krona Party will no longer stand for this. It’s time we bring back the good old days of Marie BonAztire, when we governed through prosperity, privatization, and punitiveness. That is why we at the Krona Party have decided to nominate a candidate who stands in favor of all these ideals."

Ali Reza Altkahar then took out a piece of paper from the flap pocket in his suit coat.

“The candidate we have nominated is… Soraya Alizai Telayeb.”

Telayeb immediately climbed up the stage to accept the nomination, the first one the party ever handed out to a woman. And a spectacular candidate she was in Altkahar and Sagdiyev’s eyes. Soraya Alizai Telayeb has been a central figure in the Krona Party’s pro-BonAztire ideology. She was an official officer in the Crossoverian Armed Forces before becoming the Mayor of Zootropolis, the country’s largest city, at just 27 years old. She served in that position for 10 years from 2012 to 2022, during which she oversaw and supported the crackdown against anthro protesters in the city in 2013, as well as military raids against civilians. In addition to that, she organized anti Disney rallies in the city over the film Zootopia, which was widely criticized by the government due to its alleged “misrepresentation” of Crossoverian society, despite anthro apathy. Following her second term, she chose to become a representative for her home province of Choosio in the Crossoverian Law House, a position she has served in ever since. Telayeb gained heightened traction in 2024 for being one of the legislators who stood up to Lilakh Zemakh of the Owiniman Federal Republic during his visit to Crossoveria.

“Thank you so much,” Ms. Telayeb said. “And thank you all for believing in me. With great humility, I accept this nomination for President of Crossoveria.”

“Pardon me, Ms. Telayeb,” Gustav Sagdiyev interrupted. “Let’s not get too carried away. We still need to announce your running mate. Here.”

He pulled out a piece of paper from his flap pocket, as Altkahar did, handing it out to Soraya.

“My Vice President,” she announced while reading from the paper, “is Johannes Stingi!”

Johannes Stingi then came up to the stage and gave Soraya, Ali Reza, and Gustav firm handshakes, not saying anything. Stingi, a native of the Southeastern province of Clamino, has served as the Governor of his home province since 2017. He is among the top 10 richest men in Crossoveria, having a net worth of $638 million from owning 4Ukhoneha, a big-box houseware retailer specializing in kitchen appliances, furniture, and sanitation. Outside of Crossoveria, he is known through his son Spoylero, who became an internet meme in the late 2010s for singing about claiming everything as his own.

“Lovely!” Soraya said. She then turned to the attendees. “Fellow Crossoverians, I am sure you are all as tired of these new guys as I am. That’s why I am running. It is time for us to take back the power that we lost all of a sudden. It’s time to restore Crossoveria to the 1980s-2010s era, an era that, as Mr. Altkahar described perfectly, was defined by structure and greatness. That is exactly what I will do should I become the President. I shall weed out any and all remnants of Socialism and Islamic theocracy in this country. I will restore Hefflism as an official religion. I will stand up to our imperialist enemies and for our allies. And most of all, I will reinstate traditional Crossoverian values and instill them into the Crossoverian consciousness once more. Glory to Crossoveria!”

The crowd cheered loudly after the speech. Whether she will do better than Drake Osila did in the last election remains uncertain. What is certain, however, is that she would never be in this position if she were in this next party.

PRESERVING TRADITIONAL CROSSOVERIAN VALUES!

Anthro Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 24 July 2026

Yup, this is the party Soraya Alizai Telayeb would have NEVER been able to secure a nomination in anything, let alone the Presidency. After all, it’s a party created by, for, and of anthropomorphic animals, who make up 77% of the entire Crossoverian population. The party has seen major changes and the development of a coherent ideology since being the runner up in the last election. In place of desiring basic equality, the party now desires anthro nationalism and domination. In place of left-libertarianism and liberalism, the party is now largely big-tent, incorporating beliefs from the time period when they were the sole inhabitants of the country (up until 1097), and from all parts of the political spectrum, now even holding some far right beliefs. And in place of Porkchop Funnie, who you may recall was the party’s candidate from the previous election, the party now has Niloofar Kimarijad as its leader, and thus the one to announce the nominees.

Kimarijad, an anthro tiger, took over as the leader of the party in 2025 after an internal party committee booted Funnie for being “too conceding” to the humans, as was evident with his “forgiveness” doctrine and support of the Treaty of Elmore to an extreme extent. She rose to prominence back in 2013, when her twin brother Ghavam was allegedly killed by police for violating the country’s strict Appropriate Anthro Appearance policies, resulting in the aforementioned mass uprisings not just in Zootropolis, but nation-wide. Under Kimarijad, the Anthro Party has shifted into becoming more radical and anthro-centric. This was evident in the convention that was held. No humans attended. Not even soon-to-be ex-General Secretary Douglass Lamar. Roughly 13,400 anthros attended this convention, composed of almost every animal in the kingdom. After some time, Kimarijad went on stage and toward the podium, ready to read out her party’s nomination.

“Anthros! My fellow anthros,” she started. “Thank you all for your attendance. This year will be the one where we anthros take back what was rightfully ours: this country. It’s time we put these humans in their place and remind them that, ultimately, they are just guests on this land, and they are overstaying their welcome. 900 years, we’ve been abused by these aliens. They’ve been appropriating our culture, our traditions, our religion. They’ve imposed terrible policies only upon our people. They’ve treated us like we are not people. They’ve been tormenting us, discriminating against us, going after us, all the pretense that we aren’t homo sapiens. Well, we say enough is enough. This election, we need to put one of us in the Office of the President. Someone who will uncompromisingly reverse all these discriminatory policies and actions against us. And we’ve found someone who can do just that. Ladies and gentlemen, I announce Rani Kolloro as the Presidential nominee.”

A powerful Thump! Thump! Thump! then reverberated through the convention center, shaking it like never before. The crowd remained completely calm, though, as everyone knew it was just Rani Kolloro making his way to the stage. Why should anyone be shocked, given he’s an anthro gorilla. Kolloro has been the governor of his home province of Ranko, a peninsular land on the Southwest of Crossoveria and its Southernmost province. He was a representative for Ranko in the Crossoverian Law House from 2002 to 2008, when he was removed as part of a regime operation to root out all anthros from Crossoverian politics. His experiences with this kind of discrimination moved him away from the Casterman Party, which had largely been neutral about the move, and into the Anthro Party when it was established. Kolloro was also one of the first prominent voices in the party to advocate for the party’s move toward anthro nationalism.

“Thank you so much,” he said to Kimarijad, shaking her hand. He then turned toward the audience. “Fellow anthros, I am pleased to say that I accept this nomination. And I would like to announce my running mate, Dyce Deroti.”

Dyce then came up to the stage, not producing the same thumps Rani did. Dyce Deroti currently serves as a representative in the Crossoverian Law House for his province of Aumsterdem. An anthropomorphic rottweiler, he shares many of the experiences Kolloro faced, minus the history of politics. He was a part of the 2013 demonstrations and narrowly evaded punishment. Deroti is a prominent advocate for anthro rights and supports repealing any and all policies directed specifically towards anthros.

“Thank you, Mr. Kolloro”, he said.

“Yup,” the gorilla responded before once more turning to the audience. “My fellow anthros. It’s time to fully take back power! Shall we win this election, as your President, I will do everything in my power to ensure that the oppression of anthropomorphic animals ceases completely. We shall direct more of our resources toward helping you, and divest all the power of any authority that gets in our way. We will eliminate the Department of Virtue and Vice and restore the Department of Equal Rights in its place. We will prosecute politicians who partook in the devastation of our community. And we will be uncompromising. We will not repeat Porkchop Funnie’s mistakes. We will answer to no one but our community. This is what we must do, and this is what we can accomplish if we work together. And I believe we can do this. Long live Crossoveria! Glory to Crossoveria!”

The crowd cheers.

WE'LL FIGHT FOR YOU!

Sabzi Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 25 July 2026

The Sabzi Party then met at the Convention Center. Also known as the Green Party, Sabzi stands for environmentalism, conservation, and non violence, being strong opponents of the propagation of pollution and the meat industry. While the party was set up as focused on the conservation of the environment and its wildlife, as well as promoting veganism, in recent years, the party has been focused on opposing generative AI, despite it being banned in Crossoveria.

Despite being one of the newer parties in Crossoveria, to say that it hasn’t been great for them would be an understatement. Not only did they not make it past the primaries in the previous election, they received only 1% of the public vote, the lowest overall. Additionally, in the aftermath of the general elections that year, they currently hold 7/60 seats in the Gubernatorial House and 8/300 seats in the Representative House, among the lowest of the parties. Party leader Mikhail Abakar knew this was an issue, but he had the solution, at least according to him. Surely, this would make up for the 4,000 people that showed up to this convention.

“Thank you to all that came to this convention,” he started. “We’re here to announce our candidate for the Presidency of Crossoveria. I am confident that, with his help, we can win the election this time. Under a Sabzi administration, the nature and the animals of this land will be respected, and we will make sure that Crossoverians do not harm them in any way, shape or form. After all, this is what God commanded in scripture. It is our job to make him proud by enforcing his will on Crossoveria. And that is exactly what we must do. That is why we are nominating a candidate that can do just that. His name? Dani Bo Organi. Mr. Organi, please come up.”

Yes, that is his name, and yes, this is the guy the party decided to nominate for President. Dani Bo Organi is the current governor of the central Crossoverian province of Kitchenia. Before that, he had virtually no political experience. He was from the rural village in Kithcenia named Naranche, where he worked in his family’s fruit farm, Organi Farm, which specialized in oranges. The farm is one of the country’s largest fruit producers. During the general elections in 2021, Organi ran for Governor of Kitchenia on making the province more sustainable and renewable. He won and delivered on his promises, which made him quite popular within Kitchenia.

“It is such an honor to be in this position, Mr. Abakar,” he said after coming up to the stage and shaking the General Secretary’s hand. He then made his way to the podium to speak to the people. “Yes, I accept your nomination for President of Crossoveria. And for my running mate, I have Kareem Jachani!”

At the reading of his name, Kareem Jachani came up to the stage to shake Organi and Abakar’s hands. Jachani has served in the Crossoverian Law House as a representative for the province of Teubulence since 2022. Before that, he served as an environmental lawyer for a local firm. Jachani is an adherent of strict veganism, having gone viral in early 2021 for declaring he will “not even look at anything food that comes from an animal or a human,” giving him the nickname ThatVeganKareem.

“Thank you, sir,” he told Organi, who then turned toward the audience once more.

“Citizens of Crossoveria,” he started. “I’m sure you all care for the environment and for non anthro animals as much as I do. That is why I implore each and every one of you to support this campaign and the Sabzi Party till the end. We may be a small party in comparison to other parties, but we are capable of winning. We scored seats in the legislature last time. We can score the Presidency this time. As your President, I will reform humanity’s presence on this land from ego to a part of nature. We are animals, after all. The moment we recognize that is the moment we improve ourselves and do better for the environment. That is what this campaign is all about. I will have renewable energy replace what we have right now. I will go after the meat industry. I will implement legislation that will benefit the environment above all else. And I will make this country so much less focused on war and conflict, but rather peace and love. We will win. Glory to Crossoveria."

FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND FOR CROSSOVERIA!

Zola Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 26 July 2026

The Zola Party held its convention the day after. Widely considered the Centrist political party in the country, Zola stands for moderation and compromise for legislation and strict neutrality in conflicts, even when Crossoveria’s allies or enemies are involved. The party is focused solely on Crossoveria and wants to direct all resources towards it.

Despite existing for a relatively long time, the party has not achieved any major success. They failed to advance to the Secondary elections last time, largely because their candidate was… well… a total mess. What other candidate was talking about some “YOU ARE GROUNDED GROUNDED GROUNDED GROUNDED FOR 13098124Y89412894129 YEARS GO TO YOUR ROOM RIGHT NOW”? And it wasn’t just the Presidency. After the general elections that year, they currently hold 11 governorships and 22 seats in the Crossoverian Law House’s Representative Sect. Not as bad as Babushka or Sabzi, but still not great. Additionally, this convention saw only 6,500 people attend. None of that mattered to party Secretary General Woodrow Hinzarty. His focus was on announcing the party candidate, and that is what he did.

“Hello everyone,” he started. “Thank you to everyone who came to this very important occasion. We will announce the person who we’ve selected to be our Presidential nominee. Now, this is a person who has met politicians in the middle on several issues plaguing this country. These include the anthro question, migration, foreign affairs, the economy, and national bans. This is a person with vast amounts of political experience. This is a person who is moderate in every single position. A perfect candidate for our party. So, without further ado, I’m here to announce that the Zola Party’s Presidential nominee is Doy Ranoldi.”

Mr. Ranoldi proceeded to walk onto the stage to accept his nomination. He’s the current governor of the southwestern province of Insisturn, having held the position since 2012 and nearing the end of his final term. Much like Krona’s VP Pick Johannes Stingi, Ranoldi was a businessman and among the richest men in the country. He founded Road Runner, an automobile manufacturer that produces cars for Crossoverians, in 1998. Road Runner has become the 2nd largest car manufacturer in the country, selling over 500,000 cars domestically, and contributed significantly in enhancing the country’s economic recovery in the 2000s. As Hinzarty mentioned, Ranoldi is a moderate of a lot of policies, even to a fault according to many Crossoverians.

“Appreciate it,” he said as he shook the Secretary General’s hand. He then turned to speak to the audience. “My friends, I accept your nomination for the President of Crossoveria.”

“Right. And your Vice President?” Hinzarty asked.

“That would be… I believe… Chaadi Gaarbandi.”

Mr. Gaarbandi came up to the stage to accept his nomination. Like Ranoldi, he holds a governorship position. Unlike Ranoldi, he is the governor of the Northwestern, horizontally elongated province of Octoba, and has served in the position since 2022. Previously, he was a Crossoverian Law House representative for Octoba from 2017 to 2022. Gaarbandi is also a moderate by Crossoverian standards and a noninterventionist, though he does hold strong anti-abortion and pro-punitive beliefs.

“Thank you so much, Mr. Ranoldi,” he said to Doy. “I’m here to assist.”

“Yup,” Ranoldi simply responded. He then turned to the crowd. “Ladies and gentlemen, once again, I accept this nomination for President of Crossoveria. I promise to bring about a system which unites a divided Crossoverian Law House in order to get things passed and keep this nation and this system stable. This is what we need because, at this point, there are extremes on both sides of the Law House. One wants to eliminate the system that gave Crossoveria its greatest prosperity in the nearly 30,000 years it’s been a country. It wants to do away with all that. The other side wants to effectively turn our country into a North Korea-Afghanistan combo. Also very bad. As a Centrist, I will reach across the aisle on both aisles to facilitate discussion and create solutions that everyone agrees with. This way, we can make meaningful change in this country. Thank you. Glory to Crossoveria.”

The crowd applauded Ranoldi’s speech. Hopefully they’ll do better this time.

LET'S COME TOGETHER!

Nezapi Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 27 July 2026

The Nezapi Party convened at the Convention Center today. This is arguably the most reactionary party of the eight, after the Theocratic Party. But rather than having an emphasis on religion like the latter, the Nezapi Party believes in a rigid emphasis on the military. Nezapi seeks to increase the strength and manpower of the Crossoverian Armed Forces, including stricter conscription rules and the development of technology that would advance Crossoveria far beyond any country. The party is also highly interventionist and globalist, advocating for Crossoveria’s involvement in global conflicts to support its allies. Ultimately, Nezapi seeks to make Crossoveria the ultimate force to be reckoned with on the international stage, rivaling the U.S., Russia and China.

About 9,200 people attended Nezapi’s convention. These included war veterans, current military personnel, and high ranking officials, the latter of which made up much of the party leadership. Among them is Philip Woofnbark, current Air Force General and the 2021 Presidential candidate, and Lukas Sorbani, a Sergeant Major in the Marines. It is the latter of those two who would announce the candidate this time. Hint: it’s not Woofnbark. Additional hint: it’s going to be revealed in a piece of paper, like the Krona Party candidate was.

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for attending,” Sorbani said as he began his speech. “Today, we announce who will be our candidate for the Crossoverian presidency. Let’s get some things straight before we start. For the past few years, regrettably, our network has been weakened. We’ve seen allies fall and leaders of allied countries being taken out by imperialist forces. While we appreciate what the current administration is doing to combat this happening to us, we believe we should go even further. We need to tell these imperialist demons that we are not to be messed with. We shall do what we must to get that across to not just them but to the international community. For this reason, we nominate this incredible, qualified candidate to take us to the Office of the President.”

Sorbani then took out the piece of paper containing the nominee's name. “His name is in this piece of paper.”

He opened it.

“It is Aleksandre Skibiditze.”

Mr. Skibiditze proceeded to walk onto the stage to accept the nomination. The decision came as a relative shock to most of the attendees. Skibiditze? Most haven’t heard that name a lot in military circles. And how could they? After all, the 59 year old son of Georgian migrants hadn’t been back in the military since completing his mandatory service. Skibiditze has served as a representative of the midwestern peninsular province of St. Arteen and Armin’s Land. Before that, he was known for eccentric inventions, one of which inspired a whole web series named after him. Besides all the eccentricities and lack of extensive military experience, Skibiditze’s beliefs have solidified him as one of the most reactionary citizens of Crossoveria, perfect for Nezapi. Not only is he a strong advocate for Crossoverian interventionism and militarism, he also strongly supports the present restrictions on anthros by the government, even some from the BonAztire era.

“Thank you, Sergeant Major,” he said to Sorbani before he started his speech. “Ladies and gentlemen, with great humility and love for this country, I accept this nomination you have bestowed on me for President of Crossoveria. And for my running mate, I choose Klara Censordoll.”

Again, a major shock to a majority of the attendees. This wasn’t a person who was in the military very long; she stopped at Private First Class. Like Skibiditze, Censordoll is currently serving as a Representative in the Crossoverian Law House; she’s been representing the Northeastern province of Douopey since 2017. Before, she served as a public librarian in Rougtar, the province’s most populated city and one of Crossoveria’s most socially conservative. Censordoll’s history of reactionary activism in Rougtar and across Crossoveria, particularly in support of the anti-Disney movement in 2016, has gotten her international notoriety and, much like the Krona VP nominee’s son, generated tons of memes about her.

“Hello, children,” she said in a sinister grin after she came up to the stage. “Thank you for this amazing nomination. I am humbled. Back to you, Aleksandre.”

“Thank you, Klara,” Skibitize said before turning back to the delegates. “My friends, fellow soldiers, everyone, once again, thank you for this nomination. It’s time we show these enemy thugs that we are not messing around. We will create the most intense, sophisticated, and lethal military this planet has ever seen. We will employ this military to every international and national conflict, because if we do not, the imperialists win. We will support our allies using any means necessary, even if we have to alter the national budget so this gets a monopoly. And we will put an end to any policy we currently have that would prevent this from happening. This includes the end to the generative AI ban. This way, we can actually compete against the imperialists and in an efficient way. Thank you all. Glory to Crossoveria."

The crowd merely applauded.

STRENGTH AND PROGRESS ABOVE ALL

Casterman Party Convention, Crossoveripolis, 28 July 2026

The last party to convene in the Convention Center was the Casterman Party. Widely considered the standard liberal party, Casterman believes in progressive reform for Crossoveria, including equality for anthros and humans and the abolition of many of Crossoveria’s punitive practices. Casterman strongly supports freedom of speech, press, assembly, religion, and protest, while also supporting Crossoveria’s status as a welfare state and government intervention in the economy.

The Casterman Party was the Theocratic’s predecessor in the Office of the President. However, in the 2021 election, they failed to advance to the final round and… well, we all know how that turned out. However, the election loss and shortened Presidency have not negated the party’s successes by the end of the election. As of now, Casterman holds the second most seats in both the Upper and Lower houses of the Crossoverian Law House. This, combined with their coalition with the Babushka, Anthro, and Sabzi parties, have made them the most powerful they have ever been before. This was even reflected in the number of attendees at the convention: 14,000. The attendees chatted, played music, and had a buffet before they would be convened. This was all great news for Secretary General Raul Hutchens, who hoped this could take them to their greatest victory yet.

“My fellow Crossoverians,” Hutchens started. “Thank you all for joining me in announcing our nominee for President. This is the most important election we have yet. It will not just determine who gets to be our head of government, but also our future as a country. The past five years under the Theocratic Party have been pretty bad, to say the least. Al Meskin and his crew have been actively turning our country Islamist, at the expense of the 42% of Crossoverians who are Hefflists and 77% of Crossoverians who are anthros. We cannot allow this to continue. This is why we’re here tonight, to choose a candidate that will push back on that and move our country forward. We’re nominating, for the third time in a row, Kipper Woofler. Mr. Woofler, please come up.”

Wow, choosing the person who’s essentially become the figurehead of the party since his one year long Presidency? That was surprising. Not! This was the most recent time that Kipper Woofler was chosen to be the party nominee for Crossoveria’s highest electable office. Woofler has been a notorious figure in Crossoverian politics since 2007, when he first became a representative for his home province of Hilton. He held that position for 5 years before becoming the province’s governor. Throughout his time in the Law House, Woofler served the role as the powerless yet fierce opposition leader, earning him relative praise and distrust from elites. In January 2021, after the ACE were overthrown and an emergency election was called, Woofler, who ran on the Casterman ticket, won and became President immediately afterward. He was, however, not so lucky in the actual Presidential elections months later, coming 4th overall. Since then, he’s returned as a representative in the Crossoverian Law House and been a force to be reckoned with ever since.

Kipper Woofler came up to the stage as the room boomed with both jeers and cheers.

“Thank you, Mr. Hutchens,” he said before turning to the crowd. “It is an honor to accept your nomination for President of Crossoveria.”

“And your running mate, Mr. Woofler,” Mr. Hutchens asked.

“I pick Charles Carpenter.”

“Mr. Carpenter, Mr. Woofler? Are you sure? Have you not heard?”

“About what, exactly?”

“Mr. Carpenter intends to leave politics entirely after this election.”

“No! Oh, that’s a bummer. I mean, he was a great politician, and an even better Vice President. Very well. It will be Ordima Phastivali.”

“Mr. Phastivali, please come up,” Hutchens announced. The Vice Presidential nominee proceeded to come up on the stage. Much like Woofler’s nomination, Phastivali’s wasn’t much of a shock to people. He served as the Head Secretary under Woofler’s administration. During his term, he oversaw, among other things, the attempted reconciliation between Crossoveria and Cartoonia, as the two were at war under the ACE’s administration. Before that, Phastivali was a professor at SabreAhr University, heading its international relations department.

“Thank you, Mr. Woofler,” he said as he shook the Presidential nominee’s hand.

“And thank you for accepting my nomination,” Woofler said back. He turned once more to the audience. “Ladies and gentlemen, as your President, I shall continue my tireless work to bring Crossoveria into a prosperous, progressive, and democratic era. Shall we win this election, we will secure a future for our kids and grandkids where they will not have to be in fear of speaking their opinion or practicing whatever religion they want or loving who they want. We will secure a future that will alleviate anthros from the years of oppression they have endured just for being anthros. We will secure a future that is peaceful, harmonious, and friendly to the outside world. I believe that, after over 7 decades of repression, it’s time we move forward as a country, and I will be at the forefront of that progress. After all, I am the representative of the people. And the people want freedom and democracy, and I shall bring that to them. With your help, and your vote, we can make this a reality. Thank you. Glory to Crossoveria.”

The crowd erupted in applause as he finished the speech. And that does it for the conventions. At least those held by official parties. We still have one more convention, and it’s for a candidate running as an independent.

A REAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PEOPLE

I M Weasel Convention, Crossoveripolis, 29 July 2026

10,000 people, human and anthro, gathered in the Convention Center. Many of these individuals have either grown tired of the multiparty system the past five years or are genuine supporters. For the first hour and a half, they chatted, ate, and prayed to their respective religions. As people were discussing Al Meskin and how awful he’s been as the President, all of sudden, a bell started ringing. It was coming from an anthropomorphic brown and black bear ringing handheld bells; the bears had been assigned to gather people to the main hall.

“Attention, everyone! Attention, everyone!” these bears shouted. “The candidate will give a speech in the main hall. Please make an effort to get there.”

After 15 minutes, almost all the attendees were in the main hall. Within moments, the candidate made his way to the podium. He was quite the unorthodox one. He was a weasel, which was not a common anthropomorphic animal species in Crossoveria. He was rather small, even by anthro standards. Could not have stood more than three feet. He was so small, in fact, he needed a staircase of books just to reach the microphone in the podium. How could anybody take this guy seriously? But what this candidate lacked in height or commonality species-wise, he made up for in reputation.

Irfan Mushkharmazatti, known professionally as I. M. Weasel, has a decades long reputation in Crossoveria for being a do-gooder. He conducted multiple rescue missions, built machines out of basic clothing, and made major contributions to cancer research in the country’s largest medical institutions. He is also known to be a polymath, with vast amounts of knowledge on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, law, politics, history, literature, and more. He’s been known to do two things at once that would be impossible for everyone else, like performing a magic trick while operating a vehicle. However, he got internationally famous in the 1990s for developing a machine that controls people’s sleep patterns, allowing people to dream throughout the night. In fact, his fame was so immense that it eventually landed him a reality TV show that ran in the late 1990s about his antics.

Aside from all the crazy stuff he’s done in the past, Weasel is also a perennial candidate. He ran for President multiple times. In 1991, he ran against Fadel Hutchens and Rashid Ahmadzai, gaining less than 1% of the vote with the former winning. In 1996, he ran against Rostam Ergodan Turure and Murtaza Khalili; Turure won and Weasel got only 2%. In 2001, he ran against Hafez Altkahar and Nurullah Faintobzehi, losing to the former and attaining only 1%. In 2006, he ran against Travis Mavis and Ahmad Tokay, receiving less than 1% with Mavis winning. He would have run again in 2011 and 2016 if the government had not officially barred anthros from participating in politics at all and cancelled Presidential elections indefinitely. Additionally, 2021 was not on his radar. 2026, however, would be the perfect storm; Al Meskin’s recent handling of the protests that occurred this year, plus his Islamization policies and focus on other countries, have reduced his popularity by a lot. Additionally, with freer and fairer elections, Weasel believes new conditions will be more forgiving for him. That’s what his campaign is for.

The crowd exploded in cheering as Weasel climbed up to the podium using the book staircase. He tapped on the microphone and, after seeing it worked, began to speak.

“Hello, my fellow citizens,” he declared. “Thank you all for attending this convention. I’m sure you are all sick of this machine just like I am. A machine which has kept the Crossoverian people oppressed while our leaders went on expensive vacations and did shady deals with corporations. I know what it’s like to be in this situation. Despite being able to finance this campaign all by myself, and despite all of my achievements, I am, at the end of the day, an anthro, and I am restricted from doing things that humans take for granted. I’ve been prevented from participating in politics. They said I, as an anthro, could never win, that competence and welfare aren’t enough, that this system is too strong to be upended. Look where we are now. It’s clear that the system as it operates does not work for whom it says it does. In order for it to work, it needs to do so. That is why I am declaring, for the fifth time, my candidacy for President of Crossoveria.”

The crowd cheered at the announcement.

“Now, obviously I cannot do this alone. I’ve scanned the country for the best of the best, someone who knows the system inside and out. My running mate is Fereshteh Sodori.”

Fereshteh Sodori came onto the stage at the announcement. True to the weasel’s words, Sodori has been a veteran of Crossoverian politics. She was the governor of the northwestern province of Sidok from 2007 to 2022. During her tenure, Sidok became a refuge for anthros who could avoid at least some of the government’s wrath, especially following the fallout of the 2013 uprising. As a result, Sidok enforced anthro-centric laws such as Appropriate Anthro Appearance more liberally compared to places like Zootropolis. Doing so while being a human made her one of the more popular human politicians in the country among anthros.

“Thank you, Mr. Weasel,” she said while she shook Weasel’s hand. “I will help with anything you need.”

“You are most certainly welcome, Ms. Sodori,” he said. He then turned back to the crowd. “Now, about my campaign. I’m going to fix this broken machine if I become President. The process is actually quite simple. Step one, eliminate any and all barriers anthros face. This includes ending the Appropriate Anthro Appearance mandate and its enforcement. Step two, reform the prison system. I will abolish Punishment Day and close the 6 sister prisons. A majority of prisoners there are wrongfully convicted anthros anyway. I’m not in favor of abolishing prisons or giving actual criminals a free pass, but I will make the system genuinely free and fair. Step 3, prioritize competence. The government will be run like a Swiss watch, and I will hire competent people with vast knowledge and experience. I’m doing this because I love Crossoveria and its people. I’ve watched its slow decline progress and I’m done watching. It’s time we fix what’s broken. Glory to Crossoveria.”

The crowd once again erupted in cheering. His speech concluded the final Presidential convention before the debate occurs. Weasel will go up against 8 competitors. Can he do it this time?

Mahmood Hosseini, anchor for Al Korosofiya 1, host of Emruz

“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Mahmood Hosseini and you are watching Emruz with Al Korosofiya 1. Before we begin today’s show, I would like to inform you all that the national debate will occur tomorrow at 9 pm. Every radio and television station associated with Al Korosofiya will interrupt their programming to broadcast the debate. I will be there as a moderator. Now, here’s the situation."

“Hamad bin Ahmad Al Meskin is nearing the end of his term, and will be running for re-election on the Theocratic Party ticket. He faces significant competition. Former President Kipper Woofler is running again for the Casterman Party. Soraya Alizai Telayeb, a Choosio representative in the Law House, is running for the Krona Party. Doy Ronaldi, governor of Insisturn, is running on the Zola ticket. Fatima Karaji is running as a Babushka candidate. Dani Bo Organi, governor of Kitchenia, is running for the Sabzi Party. Representative Aleksandre Skibiditze of St. Arteen and Armin’s Land is running as a Nezapi. Governor Kolloro from Ranko is running as the Anthro Party candidate. Lastly, in his 5th attempt, I. M. Weasel is running as an independent.”

“Now, there are many issues that surround Crossoveria as of 2026. Many consider the issue of anthro rights to be unresolved, which is best reflected by the demonstrations that occurred this year. This one was the most intense Crossoveria has seen in its 27,000 year history, and as a result there have been calls for change in our approach to these demonstrations. Calls for change also exist for the military and criminal justice system. Speaking of criminal justice, the government faces massive pressure to prosecute former Supreme Leader Marie BonAztire. There’s opposition to this, especially with the recent Islamic reforms of the Al Meskin administration exasperating concerns of Islamization. Anthros are leaving this country and humans are coming, leading to concerns for the future of the country. Pressure mounts to support our allies and expand our defense as the leaders of Iran and Venezuela have been forcibly removed and Syria fell. Our relationship with Cartoonia remains unresolved after five years, though that tension may end due to changes in power. Finally, pressure mounts to end the ban on generative AI.”

“Here’s how the debate will be conducted. Me and a co-moderator will ask a series of questions which pertain to these issues. Each candidate will have three minutes to answer and two minutes for rebuttals. The candidates will also be allocated two minutes for opening and closing statements. Their responses could significantly impact whether they advance to the secondary round.”

“We invite you to watch the debate tomorrow night. From Al Korosofiya 1, I’m Mahmood Hosseini. And now, it’s time for our show.”

Communique from the Neighlander Embassy in Zootropolis

Crossoverian-Neighlander relations are still young, but growing. Many Neighlanders find a certain affinity with broad strokes of Crossoveria's history and demographics, that of many different species and cultures living together in an imperfect harmony. The treatment of the majority group, Anthros, has long troubled Neighlanders, and many have welcomed the liberalizations since 2020 (GH 1391), modest as they are. However, the recent imposition of Sharia law by the Theocratic Party, many believe, threatens the harmony of the nation, especially given the nation's recent past with the Hefflist ACE and even more recently with this year's protest crackdowns.

Thus, Neighland supports any regime that seeks to lessen the influence of religion in government and strengthen rights for Anthros. Minister Advisor and President Matrix Ace tells me that the opinion of the Ministry Council on who exactly should be the next President of Crossoveria is still divided even after the conventions, and hopes that the debates will clarify the candidates' positions. They will be watching with great interest.

Al Korosofiya 1, 21:00, 31 July 2026

HOSSEINI: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Mahmood Hosseini, co-host of Emruz.

GHAFOORI: And I’m Arezo Ghafoori, host of The Analysis. We’re live from the Abdul Rahim Al Labijari auditorium in SabreAhr University in Zootropolis. In just a few moments, sitting President Hamad bin Ahmad Al Meskin will go head to head against 8 other candidates in a televised debate.

HOSSEINI: This is a pivotal moment for each and every candidate as they battle for the highest electable office in the country. Each candidate will make their case to the Crossoverian public as we inch closer and closer to finding out our next President.

GHAFOORI: Mahmood and I will co-moderate this event, and our core job is to facilitate debate among the candidates tonight. He explained the rules of the debate yesterday morning, but I’ll give him an opportunity to explain them again.

HOSSEINI: Thank you, Arezo. We will ask a series of questions that pertain to a variety of hot issues. This includes anthro rights, generative AI, religion in politics, reforms, and Marie BonAztire. The questions will be applicable to every candidate, and for those, they each get three minutes max. Any official rebuttals any candidate would like to make gets a maximum of two minutes. Opening and closing statements will also be two minutes each. The candidate responses and their conduct in this debate have a direct impact on whether or not they advance to the secondary round.

GHAFOORI: Indeed. Now, joining us tonight is the Supreme Leader, Kaiketsu Zorori. The Supreme Leader will be taking notes on each candidate and their policy positions. It’s an honor to have you here with you, Supreme Leader.

ZORORI: Thank you for having me.

HOSSEINI: Now, let’s not waste anymore time. It’s time we welcome the candidates. On the furthest left side, we have Hamad bin Ahmad Al Meskin for the Theocratic Party, and the sitting President. From left to right after him, former President Kipper Woofler of the Casterman Party, Soraya Alizai Telayeb of the Krona, Doy Ranoldi of the Zola, Fatima Karaji of the Babushka, Dani Bo Organi of the Sabzi, Aleksandre Skibiditze of the Nezapi, Rani Kolloro of the Anthro, and I. M. Weasel, who is running as an independent.

WEASEL: Uhhh… can somebody please help me up here?

*Rani Kolloro picks Weasel up from the ground and puts him on top of the podium*

WEASEL: Thank you, governor.

KOLLORO: My pleasure.

GHAFOORI: That was nice. Anyways, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for being here. Let’s start with opening statements. We’ll start with you, President Al Meskin.

AL MESKIN: In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful. Mr. Hosseini, Madam Ghafoori, thank you so much for having me on this debate stage. In the past five years I’ve served as the President, we’ve made significant progress guiding the Crossoverian people on the path of Islam. We’ve fulfilled many tenants of Sharia Law. We enforced the five pillars of Islam upon the Muslims of this country. We outlawed interest. We saw attendances at mosques explode for Friday prayer and even for the daily prayers. And, above all, we’ve made Islam the sole official religion of Crossoveria. We’ve done so much in the past five years. But we still have a long way to go before we fully reach the end of the path and Crossoveria is eternally blessed. I’m running in this election because I want Crossoveria to continue on the Islamic path. So far, the results have been in our favor. People have benefited significantly, transparency is greater, and the animals have become more equal to humans. We have no reason to stop.

GHAFOORI: Thank you. Mr Woofler?

WOOFLER: Thanks. I’ve had the pleasure to serve as President of this great country throughout 2021. During my short tenure, I helped implement policies which enhanced anthro rights and pushed for peace, especially after the ACE were overthrown and our conflict with Cartoonia ended. I helped with the creation of a new Constitution, the one in place today. And there would have been so much more I would’ve been able to do if I wasn’t knocked out in the last cycle. My dedication to this country is stronger than any election this country holds or any mistake or accomplishment any administration makes. I want to see my country change for the better, and I won’t rest until it does. That’s exactly why I am running for a second term. I will push for the liberalization of Crossoverian society, enhance civil liberties, and promote equality between humans and anthropomorphic animals. It’s something we must do.

GHAFOORI: Ms. Alizai Telayeb?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: First it was the ACE. Then it was the move toward socialism and far leftism. Then it was the move toward radical Islam. Now, what do these have in common? That’s right. Corrupting the revolution and jeopardizing our independence. For almost 40 years, we kept our country invulnerable to foreign interference by uncompromisingly maintaining traditional values and adhering to the goals of the revolution. What has occurred with the most recent administrations encapsulates exactly why this is so important. By imposing leftist reforms, we compromise the thing that made our anthros distinct, and by imposing Sharia Law, we create division that imperialists could exploit. This is why we as a country must return to the era of Marie BonAztire, a time where people respected authority, unity was promoted, and women were uplifted. I’m running to bring us there.

GHAFOORI: Thank you, Ms. Telayeb. Governor Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: Yup. We’ve become… divided as a country. Our government has essentially split into two very radical factions which is not good at all. You have the radical left faction which wants to do away with the system and make the anthropomorphic animal population the center of everything. That’s no good for Crossoveria. On the other hand, you have a right wing faction that wants to emphasize religion over progress and foreign affairs over domestic. Also no good for Crossoveria. I want to bring these extreme factions together. I believe compromise is the way to go, finding something the two can agree on and giving up one thing the radicals adhere to in exchange for something better. Basically a middle ground. That is what I want to do as President. Focus Crossoveria’s efforts entirely into bringing people together rather than caring about the foreign conflicts.

GHAFOORI: Thank you. Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: It’s time for a change! For decades, our government has been serving not the people but the elites and themselves. They’ve taken vacations to Luxembourg and the Maldives while regular citizens were left without electricity or running water for years. They’ve repressed the anthropomorphic population, who outnumber humans like them by the way, treating them like second class citizens. And when the people rose up against this corrupt system, they were met with violence. All of this is a byproduct of capitalism, and has been a regular site ever since Crossoveria made the move toward privatization. There’s only one clear solution to all this: socialism. Actual socialism, not the “private businesses but at least you get free healthcare” socialism. That’s social democracy. What I am referring to is a system where workers own the means of production rather than the bourgeois and private property is abolished. If we achieve this, we’ll not only solve the majority of issues our country currently faces but we’ll be able to progress as a country.

GHAFOORI: Ok. Governor Organi?

ORGANI: I think we can all collectively agree that Crossoveria is one special country for several particular reasons. One such reason is Feral Forest. It is the land where the anthropomorphic animals as we know them emerged. It is the closest thing the earth has to the Garden of Eden. And it is the main source of our freshwater and organic food. It cannot be stressed enough how important it is for us to protect our natural resources under any and all circumstances, because right now, they’re under threat of urbanization and globalization. And in this regard, I agree with my competitors that maintaining our independence and sovereignty should absolutely be a priority, and one way we can do that is protecting Feral Forest and lands like that. This is what I will pursue as President of Crossoveria.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Skibiditze?

SKIBIDITZE: Thank you. Crossoveria is a land of sigmas, a country that possesses incredible aura and people with incredible rizz. But I think we can expand that aura to new horizons. When you have so many enemies that want nothing more than to see you fall, especially after you’ve liberated yourselves from their oppression, you shouldn’t try to compromise with them. You need to make it very clear to them that they will not be able to make our country their plaything without repercussions. If we don’t, Crossoveria is cooked. I’m running for President so I can stop a situation like this from ever happening. I will use any and every means I have to make our country the strongest on the planet. We must do everything in our power to support our closest allies in any conflict they are engaged in, especially Iran, and we must ramp up the power of the Crossoverian military. I will delve deeper into this later in the debate should this be brought up, but I believe strength is not negotiable for a country with so many adversaries.

GHAFOORI: Governor Kolloro?

KOLLORO: Thank you, ma’am. I am not running for President because I am power hungry or because I think this is fitting because of resumes. As an anthropomorphic animal, this campaign is not just about which policies are going to be good for Crossoveria. This campaign is about giving the long-repressed anthropomorphic animal population a voice and to take back what is ours. It’s important because I’ve experienced this repression firsthand. Maybe you all know this, but for those who do not, I was actually in the Crossoverian Law House before. I was a representative for my home province. And then I was booted. They said it was because I posed a danger. It was because I was an anthropomorphic animal. By the time the new decade rolled around, we were left with no representation and plenty of subjugation. It was a dark period. Even after BonAztire was gone, the repression continued. I say enough is enough! As your President, I will ensure it ends. Anthros deserve to live with dignity and respect in the land they’ve lived in long before humans were a thing, and on this there can be no compromise.

GHAFOORI: Finally, Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: Thank you two for having me on this stage. Now, I’m not new to this, as you all know. As you brought up, I ran for President multiple times before because I love this country and want the absolute best for it. I lost because of how strong the repressive machine was and because I was an anthro. Times are different in 2026. Everything has been exposed. The internet was shut down, cities were attacked, and the military, an institution that is supposed to keep citizens safe, conducted violence against anthros, all while the president claims it’s because of an outbreak of a disease anthros are literally immune to. It’s time that we bring cohesion and dignity to Crossoveria, and I will be the one to bring the change. It’s actually rather simple. Putting an end to repressive laws such as Appropriate Anthro Appearance, reforming the justice system to be fair and by the book, and hiring competent, experienced people for government. No more buffoonery will be tolerated in the Crossoverian Law House, and definitely no discrimination. It’s time to fix this system.

GHAFOORI: Thank you all so much for your responses.

HOSSEINI: Okay, we’re gonna start with the issue many Crossoverians say is very important and that religion in politics. President Al Meskin, you’ve fulfilled your campaign promise of instituting Islamic law in Crossoverian politics for the most part, but many people in this country have expressed concerns about the effects of the reforms. There have been reports of sports stadiums and theatres being converted into mosques, and an increased presence of the Guidance Patrol in city streets and an uptake in humans being pulled aside. These reports have been verified by Al Korosofiya and foreign media outlets. What do you say to voters who fear that Crossoveria is turning into an Islamist fundamentalist state under your administration?

AL MESKIN: Well, you did vote for me last election without realizing I was much more than being an opponent of the Treaty of Elmore. However, a lot of this is just fearmongering. No, we’re not going to make you wear burqas and ban entertainment. What the increased presence of the guidance patrol is for is to make sure humans are following their respective dress code. It’s not just Appropriate Anthro Appearance that we enforce. Humans have their own dress code which mandates they be modest in public. I want them to follow their rules just like I want the animals to follow theirs. And I find it interesting that you bring this up in the context of Islam, because these rules were imposed by Kais Al Abidine Baldemore, our first Supreme Leader from way back in the 50s and 60s, and he was Hefflist, number one, and number two, none of these reports involved the hijab or chador. They cannot stop you if you don’t have a hijab because it’s not mandatory in a political context. Our party has pushed multiple times for this to be a reality, but it keeps getting struck down in the Crossoverian Law House, and even if it didn’t, it’s unlikely the Supreme Leader would approve of this. In regard to the mosque transformations, like I’ve said before, we don’t have a need to build any more mosques based on quantity and capacity. The truth is Islam has brought more good to this country than ever before. We’ve enhanced equality, we went after corrupt practices, and we helped the poor more than any of my predecessors could have. Islam is not just building mosques and wearing the hijab. Islam is support, unity, and peace, and my administration has achieved all that.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Does anyone have any comments on this?

WOOFLER: I do. And I would like to bring up something in this regard that my competitor, and you, failed to mention. Hefflism. 42% of the population practices this religion, and for over four years, 42% of the population have felt vulnerable. You, Mr. President, demoted Hefflism’s status as an official religion into a recognized one early in your term. That is essentially scrubbing off tens of thousands of years of irreplaceable history. That is harming the anthropomorphic community, the very community who you claim to support. And that is harming your competitors on this very stage as well, including me. I am a Hefflist. Governor Ranoldi is a Hefflist. Governor Organi is a Hefflist. Governor Kolloro is a Hefflist. And Mr. Weasel is a Hefflist. Our families have practiced Hefflism for decades, even centuries. Islam is relatively new in Crossoveria. It, and people like you and me, haven’t been around for 1,000 years even. And today, not even 60% of the population practices Islam. Your Islamization serves a slight majority while it leaves millions of Crossoverians like me and the majority of your competitors vulnerable.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Anyone else?

WEASEL: I’ll go. The President spent roughly three minutes telling the Crossoverians not to worry while running on and implementing policies that have them worried in the first place. With all due respect, Mr. President, it’s not “just the dress code” when innocent people have died at the hands of this patrol. It’s not “enforcing modesty” when you have double standards based on who’s human or not. Also, the fact that you are brushing this, and the mosque conversions, off as fearmongering perfectly encapsulates your lack of respect for transparency, the very thing you claim to represent. But what I think is the most ironic thing about all this is the claim that his administration has achieved peace. While I do not doubt that peace is incredibly important and an important tenant of Islam, I can tell you what peace is not. Peace isn’t cracking down hard on protestors demanding basic freedoms. Peace isn’t killing tens of thousands of anthropomorphic animals within weeks and claiming it’s a rabies outbreak. And yet Al Meskin’s administration has done both of these. He can claim all the other achievements all he wants, but he’ll be remembered most for acts like this.

HOSSEINI: Thank you, Mr. Weasel. Governor Organi?

ORGANI: Mr. Weasel and Mr. Woofler are 100% right. No notes on those. But I would like to add a bit of an anecdote in response to Al Meskin. I’ve been to restaurants Zootropolis, Assateague, and GoCity, among other places, several times. From before Al Meskin became President to after, I noticed you removed pork from all the menu options. All I have to ask is why not do it for all animals? Why not impose tofu kabobs and tofu fesenjoon and lentils instead of letting non anthro chickens, cows, and sheep become our food? That is not peace at all. If we want to talk about peace and love, we gotta start normalizing veganism. It’s healthy for people and good for the animals.

AL MESKIN: You’re not even Muslim and you’re lecturing me about Islam. Do you not know who I am?

HOSSEINI: Mr. President, I don’t think he was finished.

ORGANI: And not only that, He’s dragging us into conflict after conflict just to support our Iranian buddies. That, combined with his response to people protesting earlier this year, it just shows that he does not value peace at all. So don’t lecture the people about peace when A, you haven’t gone vegan, B, you drag us into foreign wars, and C, you send the military after protesters.

HOSSEINI: Ms. Telayeb?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Well, I’ve definitely seen an increase in religiosity in my home province and in many neighborhoods. In fact, my neighbor Hoda, she started wearing a chador in public a few weeks after Al Meskin took over. She’s just one example. Even if they’re not using the Guidance Patrol to enforce the Islamic dress code as the President claims, there’s always the fear of being pulled aside for not abiding by it, and this administration has definitely proliferated that fear through its new policies. This would have never happened if Marie BonAztire was the Supreme Leader. She would not have allowed a man with 0% political experience and 100% radical Islam to be the head of our government. We’re seeing the effects of a Crossoveria without her right now. As a Muslim myself, people are completely valid to fear Crossoveria becoming an extremely religious society. We’ve seen the effects of that in other countries, including the one my parents are from. Of course we don’t want to continue on this path. The ends are not even worth it.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Mr. Skibiditze?

SKIBIDITZE: No comment.

HOSSEINI: Okay. Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: I wear my hijab because it is my choice, because I want to have such a close relationship to God and to my faith. Many other women across the globe do not have that choice, whether forced to or forbidden from doing so. Where we are heading as a country, and this “Islamic path” that Al Meskin keeps bringing up is a land where the former becomes the reality. Not only that, and my competitor brought this up, but a huge portion of the country aren’t even Muslim. Some of the competitors President Al Meskin and I are running against in this election, the ones in this very room, are not Muslims. It doesn’t make sense to impose ultra religious policies on a secular population and even less sense in a country where Islam is not a supermajority. What we really need is equality, and regardless of whatever claims Al Meskin makes about equality, you’ll never have a truly equal society under his vision.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Governor Kolloro?

KOLLORO: I think Mr. Weasel and Mr. Woofler both made their cases perfectly, and allow me to add onto that. One cannot claim to separate themselves from an oppressive system or past leaders and then commit acts associated with that system. What went down earlier this year was exactly like what went down in 2013. The only differences were the causes and the casualties, and we saw greater casualties under an Al Meskin administration. No matter what religion you cover this up with, Hefflism or Islam, as long as humans are in charge of an anthropomorphic animal population, this kind of terror will never end. Also, what kind of equality and support does President Al Meskin speak of? From what my friends and fellow anthros have told me, things have not changed at all at the very best. To this day, I fail to see how some of my anthro brothers and sisters went for Al Meskin last election. Yeah, Porkchop Funnie may have been extremely naive to run on abolishing the military and relying entirely on a country we went to war with literally the year before, but what this administration has demonstrated is its complete and utter lack of care for the Crossoverian people.

HOSSEINI: Last and certainly least, Mr. Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: Well I think the president may have been a bit kookoo for wanting to make Crossoveria an Islamic religious country but the other option would have been compromising Crossoverian independence and making the great Kais Al Abidine Baldemore roll in his grave. And while I do think he may have overreacted to the protests, giving into the protesters’ demands would have had the same effect as signing the Treaty of Elmore but on a larger scale. Of course, I think we can achieve support, unity, and peace through means other than running the country on a religion I and a lot of Crossoverians do not practice. It’s called bipartisanship. We need to make both extremes compromise on everything and focus specifically on that rather than providing extra arms to our international buddies. That’s all.

HOSSEINI: Okay. Thank you, Mr. Ranoldi.

GHAFOORI: I think now is a good time to turn to Marie BonAztire. Marie BonAztire ruled as Crossoveria’s Supreme Leader for nearly 4 decades, from 1981 to 2021. During her rule, she oversaw heightened repression of the anthropomorphic animal majority, economic mismanagement, acute political corruption, and a volatile human rights situation. While she’s currently a free woman, albeit a pretty private one, many in Crossoveria have called for her to be apprehended and face justice. What do you think is the appropriate action this country should take on Marie BonAztire? We’ll start with you, Ms. Alizai Telayeb.

ALIZAI TELAYEB: I do not think we should put BonAztire in prison or even have her arrested. Heck, I think it’s a shame she’s not seen as much anymore, because she’s done so many amazing things for Crossoveria that she’s not credited for. For instance, this debate. Before Marie BonAztire, there were no elections. There was no true democracy under the previous Supreme Leaders. Thanks to her, we’re giving the people the opportunity to choose their next leaders every five years. Thanks to her, our representatives have become more connected to the Crossoverian people. Not only that, she’s been incredible for Crossoverian women. She fully legalized abortion. She decreased the wage gap between men and women. And greatest of all, and tying this back to the democratization, she put women in the Crossoverian Law House. Hundreds of women, including myself, have served thanks to her. BonAztire has done so much for this country that putting her in a jail cell for the rest of her life would be disregarding all her accomplishments. So, yeah, absolutely not.

GHAFOORI: Right. Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: Oh, we have to put that woman in prison. There’s no question about it. And in this regard, I would like to respond to my competitor’s claims about how she “uplifted women”. Marie BonAztire only “uplifted” human women, women like me and you, Soraya, and you, Ms. Ghafoori. And her idea of feminism is having Lady Gaga perform for her on her 50th birthday and attacking Tammy Wynette over a song she misunderstood. Meanwhile, she turned a blind eye as anthro women were subject to horrific, unequal treatment from the government. It didn’t matter what she thought. She allowed this to happen because they aren’t humans. True feminism is not about promoting the ideology of a few you agree with just because it appears progressive. True feminism is fighting for all women, regardless of whether they’re humans or anthropomorphic animals, regardless of whether they are Muslim, Hefflist, or practicing another religion, regardless of where they come from. Meanwhile, BonAztire repressed the anthropomorphic animals of this country to an ever greater degree than before. If we want to address issues like this, we need to hold the perpetrators accountable, regardless of their publicity. She needs to be charged with crimes against the people and sentenced to life in prison at minimum.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Skibiditze?

SKIBIDITZE: I agree with Soraya, 100%, but for different reasons. She put the interests of this country first. She stood up to our enemies and was uncompromising when talking about Crossoveria’s sovereignty. She exposed the imperialists and their leaders, especially the United States, for weaknesses and moral rot within their systems. This was obviously great because she was moving people away from these forces and into the path of self determination and independence. That was exactly what the Non Aligned Movement was designed for. Not only that, but she strengthened the Crossoverian military to include women in the draft, and she imposed stricter conscription laws for all able citizens. Today, we have one of the strongest militaries on the planet, and our support for our allies like Iran and Venezuela has gotten stronger. Baldemore may have laid out the groundwork but BonAztire elevated it. Putting her in prison, as my competitor said, would not insult her necessarily but would insult this country because it’s essentially telling us that prioritizing national security and defense in a world full of enemies warrants prison time. Absolutely not.

GHAFOORI: Okay. Governor Kolloro?

KOLLORO: You humans are all wrong. I think the answer is quite obvious, and that is she needs to be executed. I’m not such a huge fan of capital punishment because of how it was disproportionately used against anthros such as myself. But what Marie BonAztire did to this country was beyond redeemable, far beyond reprehensible. She was the reason why I was removed from office because I am an anthropomorphic gorilla. She was the reason why 3,400 innocent anthros were killed within less than 7 days. She was the reason why anthros were disproportionately affected by the blackouts in the 1990s and suffered from rationing. She was the reason why there has been so much discrimination against anthros. She did nothing but devastate this country and its people, and she has to pay for that. I would like for her trial to be televised just like Buster Moon’s, broadcast on national television and livestreamed on the internet in its entirety. I want the entire world to see her get the justice she deserves. There can be no compromise on this. None.

GHAFOORI: Governor to Governor, Mr. Organi?

ORGANI: Well, I think what Governor Kolloro is proposing is way too extreme, but BonAztire definitely has done plenty of damage to the environment through her move towards capitalism. Capitalism as a system inherently destroys the environment. We’ve seen incidents from across the globe and throughout the years of smoke filling the air and making it hard to breathe thanks to the effects of capitalism. I mean, yeah, Crossoveria may not have had to experience that, but that’s because we got lucky. The fact that BonAztire was putting us in a position where that may happen through the county’s use of fossil fuels is a crime in my eyes. Why didn’t she use renewable energy? She could’ve done that. So, I would say put her in prison and put her on a vegan diet. I’d like this for every Crossoverian, but BonAztire specifically, given how much damage she’s done to the environment.

KOLLORO: Seriously? That’s what matters to you?

GHAFOORI: Here we go again.

KOLLORO: You only care that BonAztire didn’t use nuclear or solar energy, not the discrimination against anthros? Not the severe corruption under her regime?

ORGANI: Well, capitalism breeds corruption and hierarchies. Also, one of the reasons I am a vegan and want this country to go vegan is because of anthros like you. You are the environment, no? You’ve been on this land for so long that you’re tied to it, aren’t you?

KOLLORO: Is that really how you see anthros?

ORGANI: I mean… you are animals.

KOLLORO: So are you biologically!

ORGANI: We’re different though. Anyways, the point here is that she should face justice, absolutely, but I think we can do that in a way that isn’t blatant revenge.

GHAFOORI: Thank you, Governor Organi. Governor Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: Now, I see both sides of this issue. BonAztire absolutely made great progress for this country, giving it elections and making things significantly better for women, and I believe she should absolutely be celebrated for her amazing achievements. I also understand that some of the things she did as Supreme Leader weren’t very good. She should’ve handled the economy better and I believe she was a bit too harsh on the protestors. So, here’s an idea I think both sides could agree on. How about we have here exiled from the mainland? We could nationalize one of the Leaf Islands in the Southeast and turn it into a mini world for BonAztire and her family. It will have a huge mansion with a bunch of pools and jacuzzis. There will be a beachside spa and she’ll have all her assets there. There will be 3 restaurants that serve her favorite foods. The whole shebang. However, she will not be allowed to leave the island. She will not be allowed to travel 5 km away from the island, and it will be patrolled by the Navy 24/7. That, I believe, would strike a perfect balance between sending off her legacy and imposing a sanction for her mistakes.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Woofler?

WOOFLER: I take a different approach to Marie BonAztire as I would the ACE. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still in favor of punishment for extremely serious crimes, but I don’t think imposing only punishment on the former Supreme Leader would be very productive as it was for the ACE. Yeah, a lot of awful things happened under BonAztire, and sure, she may have supported the ACE, but as my competitors have said, she was not malicious. In some respects, she was genuinely progressive, and I respect her for that. I think she deserves the credit for her feminist reforms, but I think it would’ve been better if she included anthros as well. And, I know this is beating a dead horse in a way, but I think the Treaty of Elmore had the perfect sanction for BonAztire. She should pay millions in reparations to the Crossoverian people. She should appear on international television and apologize for her wrongdoings. And I agree with Governor Ranoldi’s proposition that we exile her to the beautiful island. I think that is what they deserve.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: We need to prosecute her. The way she gained power in the first place was bad enough. She had no political experience whatsoever, and much real-world experience for that matter. The closest thing to that was being in a rogue militant organization hellbent on overthrowing the sitting Supreme Leader. She spent the next 4 decades spending money on vacations and throwing lavish parties with celebrities as my competitor Ms. Karaji noted, while managing the economy with such gross incompetence it makes I. R. Baboon look like Albert Einstein. It was the anthros that dealt with the consequences of that. And that’s not even getting to the discrimination anthros faced under her. The appropriate action is not to put her on an island where she can drink coconut water and do daily spas. But it is also not a public execution. What we need is a public investigation into her and a trial with due process and governed by the rule of law. If we want to move forward as a country, this is something we have to do.

GHAFOORI: President Al Meskin?

AL MESKIN: I am in agreement with a majority of my competitors that Marie BonAztire does indeed need to be prosecuted. I think a lot of them said it wonderfully. She was corrupt, she was discriminatory, and she did not care one bit about this country. I think life in prison would be the appropriate penalty for her, and my administration will look into doing so. There are verses in the Quran that explicitly condemn her actions. Surah Ar-Rum, 30:41. "Corruption has spread on land and sea as a result of what people’s hands have done, so that Allah may cause them to taste the consequences of some of their deeds and perhaps they might return to the Right Path." We will ensure she gets justice delivered to her.

KOLLORO: Well, why didn’t you prosecute her? You had five years to do so.

AL MESKIN: It wasn’t brought to my attention until now. Doesn’t change my opinion.

RANOLDI: Okay, let’s do this instead of fighting. Why don’t we wish her a happy birthday instead? She’s turning 63 and I think it should be appropriate for us to do this.

KOLLORO: Absolutely not!

RANOLDI: I mean, this is what happens in healthy democracies. Other countries have done this as well. Why not us? Anyways, happy birthday, dear Marie BonAztire.

AL MESKIN: No way you just went there.

RANOLDI: What?

GHAFOORI: THANK YOU! Everybody, we are moving onto the next subject.

HOSSEINI: Let’s now turn to Cartoonia. For the past few years, our relationship with the country has been unstable at best and hostile at worst due to the ACE’s failed invasion and the Treaty of Elmore. Last year, however, their people elected a new chancellor who has taken a friendlier approach to Crossoveria, leading the government to endorse her. Basic diplomatic relations have since been restored, and many people in both countries believe talks between the two nations can start again or that relations can be elevated. This begs the question: Should Crossoveria pursue diplomatic reconciliation with Cartoonia, and why or why not? We’ll start with you, Mr. Woofler.

WOOFLER: Absolutely. It really isn’t a question. I will contact Gallagher within 24 hours of being inaugurated and initiate talks. I think this is the right thing for us to do, especially since we technically started this whole mess. Even though the ACE does not represent our country in any way, shape, or form, the fact that our government under Marie BonAztire had close ties to the organization and allowed for its Cartoonia mission to last this long puts plenty of responsibility into our hands. We only made things worse when we rejected the peace treaty Cartoonia offered, and we never got in touch since Al Meskin’s inauguration. None of this solved the roots of the issue and we were never able to take full accountability for the ACE’s schemes. I think it’s a shame the Treaty of Elmore never came to fruition, but that treaty is done now. What we need is a new one that benefits both Cartoonia and Crossoveria and ensures that nothing like this ever happens again. That is what I aim to achieve. That is why I’m getting Chancellor Lisanna Simpson on the phone within a day of stepping into the Office of the President.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Governor Organi?

ORGANI: I’m inclined to agree with my competitor that we must talk to Cartoonia again. We do indeed need to take a lot of responsibility for the ACE’s actions due to their close connections to the Supreme Leadership and her approval of the Cartoonia operation. Also, I think the Treaty of Elmore was great and I believe we should reinstate it. After all, Cartoonia did not aggravate us at all. We were the ones who secretly sent ACE operatives there to quietly turn people into animals. When they were discovered and forced out of Cartoonian soil, the ACE then took over our government and attacked Cartoonia. We shouldn’t pretend like they weren’t justified in creating that treaty, and it is our duty to accept that. I will call Gallagher and tell them we’d like to reinstate the treaty and that, this time, we will actually sign it.

HOSSEINI: Alright. Governor Kolloro?

KOLLORO: *sighs* Look, I know my party messed up with Cartoonia, especially given how our candidate wanted to abolish the military and rely entirely on Cartoonia. That’s not what we desire now. We’ve separated Funnie from us. We’re just not going to engage with Cartoonia. The ACE, they no longer exist. Their leaders have been executed. All their members are in jail. We made them pay for all their crimes. There’s no point imposing a treaty that would make us subservient to another country, nor is there a point in trying to reconcile with our enemy. We have to let go of Cartoonia, and they have to let go of us. What happened then was a thing of the past, and now, we have to go on our own separate paths. I’m focused mainly on Crossoveria and the people this regime has discriminated against for decades. The anthros will deal with and solve the problems in our country themselves. We don’t need a foreign entity to help us.

HOSSEINI: Governor Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: Governor Kolloro has the right idea. No engagement with the Cartoonian government is the way to go. No engagement with any countries is the way to go, really. Yeah, the whole ACE scheme was a total mess, but let’s not act like Cartoonia has our best interests at hand, even with this administration they got. After all, they did create the Treaty of Elmore and that was, well, no good. But I also think that Al Meskin loudly deriding the treaty is a terrible international PR move. I think, after everything, it sealed the deal. So, no, I don’t think it is beneficial for us to go back to Cartoonia. Where we’re at right now, let’s just maintain that. Nothing more, nothing less. Instead, we should focus on Crossoveria and bringing people together in the Law House.

HOSSEINI: President Al Meskin?

AL MESKIN: Quite frankly, I do not have a straightforward yes or no to this question. On the one hand, I vehemently opposed the Treaty of Elmore they proposed five years back. In fact, I ran on denouncing it and certifying our independence. I admit I was definitely influential in the more recent hostilities between Crossoveria and Cartoonia and I take a lot of accountability on that, but the treaty threatened the independence of this country. But on the other hand, I’m stronger in favor of peace. That’s what Islam is about, and I intend to bring about peace even to our former rivals. That said, I have reservations when it comes to Simpson’s administration. They aren’t as anti-Crossoveria as the other candidates she was running against were, but given the ideological differences between her and me, and our countries’ history with each other, I’m just concerned it won’t turn out the way we’d like. Ultimately, I would say sure, let’s do it, but if they bring about unrealistic and crippling demands, we’re walking away from the negotiating table.

HOSSEINI: Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: Well, the obvious answer to that is yes. For starters, we should be grateful we are not dealing with a far right administration that would have gone to war with us on their own terms. And also, this administration is certainly not like Nigel Uno. They’re not interested in imposing an anti-Crossoverian treaty, though…

SKIBIDITZE: If I’m hearing this correctly, you said Cartoonia doesn’t want to impose an “anti-Crossoverian” treaty. Fatima jan, do you genuinely believe any treaty that country would impose won’t be inherently against Crossoveria?

HOSSEINI: Mr. Skibiditze, can you please let her finish?

SKIBIDITZE: Shut up, beta. -1000 aura for you.

WOOFLER: Wow. Just wow.

SKIBIDITZE: Now, Fatima, knowing the ACE was in charge of Crossoveria when they attacked Cartoonia, do you believe that Cartoonians would separate that group from this country regardless of their status? Of course not.

KARAJI: I never said they don’t want to impose a treaty. What I’m saying is that the current Cartoonian administration is seeking to restore talks and actually try and negotiate with us rather than blatantly punishing us for the actions of the rogue regime. It would help significantly if we cooperated and actually sat down with them and discussed the terms of treaties rather than alienate them like we did last time.

SKIBIDITZE: Hmmm. Is that so? Well, what if I told you that Ms. Simpson promoted the idea of sanctioning Crossoveria?

HOSSEINI: Okay, Mr. Skibiditze…

SKIBIDITZE: Hey, I’m speaking. -5000 aura.

*Kipper Woofler whips out his phone and begins searching up brainrot terms*

SKIBIDITZE: We only paid attention to the debate then, not what she said on that talk show with Jay Sherman. She was unironically talking about sanctioning us from trade and issued a warning directed at us that was similar to fierce anti-Crossoverian candidates. And…

WOOFLER: Hey, Aleksandre, put the fries in the bag.

SKIBIDITZE: Wha… I… umm…

HOSSEINI: Yeah, so for continuously interrupting other candidates, we’re unfortunately going to have to skip over you for this question.

SKIBITIZE: Fine. I already made my case anyway.

HOSSEINI: Ms. Karaji, would you like to continue?

KARAJI: I’m just gonna make this as brief as possible. Let’s do it. We should negotiate with them for as long as we have to, but we’re gonna find a solution that makes both of us happy.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: I will pursue reconciliation with Cartoonia. 100%. The attack the ACE did was a horrific disaster that cost Crossoveria lives, resources, and its international standing, and I agree we must take full responsibility for that. But the Treaty of Elmore was nothing more than a one-sided document that would have crippled our national defense and subjugated us to Cartoonia. We certainly dodged a bullet by not signing it, and I’m afraid that was the only good thing Al Meskin has done as the President. But with who’s in office now and the restoration of basic ties, I think it is only appropriate for us to conduct some real negotiations. It won’t be a priority, for sure. I will dedicate more time to fixing this country and helping our people. But I will sit down with Cartoonian leadership and negotiate a treaty that works best for the both of us and looks to the future.

HOSSEINI: Ms. Alizai Telayeb?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: I’d rather not we do that, because the Treaty of Elmore also sought to blame Marie BonAztire as well for the ACE’s treason. I mean, there was a point where she just had no control over the organization because she had too much institutional trust in them. As much as I love Marie BonAztire and think she was amazing for Crossoveria, I believe that had she monitored the ACE more closely, especially in regard to Cartoonia, we would have avoided this situation altogether. But we’ve dealt with the ACE in an appropriate manner years ago, and they still implemented a treaty that punished the entire country and BonAztire rather than those specific members.

HOSSEINI: Uh, I’m gonna need to stop you right there. The question is about whether we should pursue reconciliation with Cartoonia after the new chancellor was elected.

ALIZAI TELAYEB: I was getting there. In regards to them as well, I am heavily skeptical. I don’t think this would be a great idea, especially given their other plans which Mr. Skibiditze explained to everyone here and the audience viewing this debate at home.

SKIBIDITZE: Why, thank you.

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Yeah, so, ultimately, I would have to say no to that. I don’t want to put Crossoveria in a situation where we’re negotiating with a country we’ve had animosity toward.

HOSSEINI: Thank you all for these responses.

An audio message sent from Manila is played. In it is the Kingdom's declaration of support for the Theocrats:

Sa Ngalan ng Ating Panginoong Diyos, sa ngalan ng aming Mahal na Hari, at sa ngalan ng aming Dakilang Bayan, mabuhay!

The Office of the First Lord of His Philippine Majesty's Crown Government conveys the best wishes of His Philippine Majesty, King Ferdinand II, to his venerable cousin in Abraham, President Hamad bin Ahmad Al Meskin. In an era where faith is often held in scorn, authority is mocked in almost every corner, and community warped to serve the fell purposes of those who see themselves as gods, His Philippine Majesty reaffirms the Kingdom's support for the goals of the Theocratic Party, and the continuation of their pursuit of those goals, that the Crossoverian state continue to become a bulwark against the moral decay plaguing this era.

Para sa Diyos, Hari, at Bayan!
Puppet of the New Visayan Islands, typically used for fluff purposes.

Naturally, this does not represent my actual beliefs.

GHAFOORI: Let’s turn now to Crossoveria’s criminal justice system. Crossoveria employs a rather punitive system, exemplified by the 6 sister prisons, high rates of capital punishment, and the practice of “Punishment Day” which is unique to Crossoveria. This system has been subject to controversy in and out of Crossoveria, as well as calls for reform that involve the dismantling of said institutions. Do you believe the system must be reformed or should we keep it the way it is? Who would like to go first?

SKIBIDITZE: Me! Not only must we maintain the system as is, but we should actually expand it. I agree, in a way, with some people who oppose the system because we’re only putting anthros in the 6 sister prisons. That’s why I will expand the system to not only have humans incarcerated in the sister prisons but impose the conditions in these prisons for all prisoners. Just because anthros outnumber humans does not mean that humans should have separate, less intense facilities reserved for them, especially since they are just as capable of terrible crimes. By incorporating humans and having normal prisons share the same conditions as the sister prisons, we make it clear to all Crossoverians that we will punish you severely if you commit any crime. Now, why not lessen the severity of the sister prisons, one might ask. We are in a geopolitical situation where we simply cannot afford to just rehabilitate them. When you have very strong enemies who want to destroy your revolution, weakness is not just dangerous; it is fatal. When they employ your own people to act as informants for them, not employing harsh punishments will be the death of us. Our criminal justice system makes it clear to Crossoveria and to the world that there will be incredible consequences for infiltration. And so far, it’s been effective. There’s no reason to reform, but many reasons to double down on it.

GHAFOORI: Ms. Alizai Telayeb?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: I agree with Mr. Skibiditze. The system as it is should absolutely be maintained and punishment should be emphasized when dealing with criminals rather than rehabilitation. There are certain crimes out there that are just so terrible that, in the words of Adam Smith, mercy to the criminals is heartless to the innocent. I think this is the correct lens to look at justice through, and because Crossoveria’s justice system operates under this philosophy, I see no reason to change it. Additionally, it is super efficient. It’s easy to just throw a person in a jail cell and call it a day, but that in itself does not make the consequences sink. Some of the criminals may get confused and think this is an indefinite staycation where they don’t have to pay taxes and get free living. Punishment Day makes the punishment sink in. By incorporating Punishment Day, you make the criminals really regret committing their crimes and get others to see that criminal activity has severe consequences. The results speak for themselves. Violent crime as we know it does not exist in Crossoveria thanks to the present system. So, no, we shouldn’t change anything about our system. It’s perfect the way it is.

GHAFOORI: Thank you. President Al Meskin?

AL MESKIN: We should keep it the way it is, and not just because it is the appropriate way of dealing with criminals. Ms. Alizai Telayeb and Mr. Skibiditze explained it perfectly. The main reason why we should keep it is because it fulfills Islamic interpretations of criminal justice. Retribution, an eye for an eye, is extremely important in Islam. If you kill somebody, you get sentenced to death, for instance. Additionally, capital punishment is warranted for what’s known as “mischief in the land”, which are crimes that threaten the social order and bring about instability. There’s a good reason why Islam employs this kind of justice. It’s to keep people safe and society functioning. I do not deny that, in regard to Crossoveria, the threat of imperial powers plays a significant role, but the Islamic jurisprudence of justice has existed long before Western imperialism and has worked well in Crossoveria for centuries, and continues to do so. For this reason, and because of how well our system has worked, there’s no reason for replacement or reform.

GHAFOORI: Governor Kolloro?

*Kolloro puts his hand over his eyes and and shakes his head*

KOLLORO: There is no way that, after everything, you three are saying this. There’s no way you are all still defending this horrendous system. A system which discriminates against anthros by putting them in much worse prison conditions than humans would ever experience. A system which doesn’t even feed its prisoners actual food. A system which has left its prisoners crippled and traumatized. Are we now forgetting what happened to Avita Kartanti? Rahan Jadarnasti? Kareem Hapuzatti? Seriously? You talk about justice as a justification for this system? What justice, huh? Where’s the justice for Avita, for Rahan, for Kareem, for all 600,000 anthros currently incarcerated? There is none. And besides, a lot of the anthros in the prisons are not there because they did something actually bad. They’re there because they dared protest for equal rights, for dignity, for freedom, to be able to live without fear, because they defied the discriminatory restrictions against them just because they are not humans like you are. All while humans are incarcerated in less evil facilities for committing genuinely terrible crimes. Let me ask you again, where is the justice? Nowhere to be seen. This means only one thing. The criminal justice system in Crossoveria needs a complete reset. Not a simple reformation. A reset. This is what we must do if we actually care about justice.

GHAFOORI: Thank you, Governor. Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: Yes.

*relative silence*

GHAFOORI: I beg your pardon, Ms. Karaji. The question was, do you believe the system should be maintained or reformed?

KARAJI: Yes. I know it sounds strange, but I will explain it. I’m in favor of several of the institutions of our criminal justice system, such as capital punishment and the 6 sister prisons. I think they are necessary for serious crimes. I also think we must impose them on anyone in the bourgeoisie and government who partook in the capitalist subjugation of the people.

RANOLDI: You are literally proving the Horseshoe theory right.

KARAJI: Be quiet. I’m not done speaking.

GHAFOORI: Here we go again.

RANOLDI: What? I’ve noticed that you support capital punishment. The right wing candidates support it.

KARAJI: Well, there’s nuance to this, hence my response to her question. Now, wait for your turn and let me finish.

GHAFOORI: I second that. Continue, Ms. Karaji.

KARAJI: Thank you. Now, with all that said, there’s nuance to this issue. Our government has abused these institutions and they have devolved into being discriminatory towards anthros. I believe that must be fixed, and we can do that by sending humans who committed heinous crimes to the sister prison facilities in exchange for anthros incarcerated in these facilities for political reasons being put in the smaller facilities. In regard to Punishment Day, I strongly oppose the practice. It’s affecting our international reputation and ruining the revolution’s legitimacy. We have to abolish it. And you know what else? We also need to punish Boris Anderson for overseeing it for so long.

RANOLDI: Oh, come on, Fatima. I know Punishment Day is a tad bit extreme, but don’t you think it would go too far if we punish him for just doing his job?

KARAJI: Are you seriously defending that lunatic?

RANOLDI: Well, what if he was pressured to do it by BonAztire?

KARAJI: How do you not know your… you know what? Of course. Of course you're defending him.

RANOLDI: At least I’m not a communist.

GHAFOORI: And for continued interruptions, Governor Ranoldi, we are gonna skip over you for this question.

KARAJI: By the way, has anyone heard of the Fishhook theory? No? Go read about it. It’s incredibly accurate. Anyways, to summarize, while I do believe that we should emphasize punishment, it is incredibly important that we dismantle any discrimination against anthros that comes with it and the practice of Punishment Day.

GHAFOORI: Thank you, Ms. Karaji? Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: The system must be reformed. Keeping it the way it is is not defensible. I fully believe a country needs a functioning criminal justice system and that harsh punishment must be implemented for serious crimes. But our system does not employ justice. It cannot be justice when we execute civilians at rights that shock even countries that use capital punishment, nor when we apply it for offenses that should never, ever warrant it, such as political activism, religious nonconformity, or in some cases, simply existing as an anthropomorphic animal. And I don’t even want to get into Punishment Day. We must reform the system to abolish Punishment Day, restrict capital punishment to the most serious crimes, eliminate the 6 sister prisons, and end discriminatory conditions for anthros. We need a justice system that is tough, fair, and competent, not one that makes anthros walk on eggshells 24/7.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Woofler?

WOOFLER: I believe in reforming the criminal justice system. I agree with my competitors that we must employ punishment for at least some crimes, especially for terrorism, but the problem is punishment is what we exclusively focus on, and oftentimes, we take it too far. As Mr. Weasel pointed out, we punish people over things that should not even be crimes, like practicing a different religion or speaking your mind. And we’ve employed practices that really have nothing to do with punishment and everything to do with terror akin to the ACE, such as Punishment Day. I’d argue that we should even abolish the death penalty. The truth is it does not work as a deterrent. It has had no effect on the amount of crime in other countries that have it. It’s also a lot more expensive than keeping them in prison, contrary to what some of you suggest. Also, there have been instances where people who were completely innocent were executed. If a person were to be executed today and evidence is found tomorrow that they were completely innocent, it would be too late. For this reason, I fully believe that the maximum punishment this country should have is life in prison, being kept in a cell for the rest of your life, in addition to rehabilitation for less severe crimes and freedom for the offenses that shouldn’t be. This way, we can actually bring about justice.

GHAFOORI: Thank you. Finally, Governor Organi?

ORGANI: We must reform the system to emphasize rehabilitation above all. In addition to abolishing the death penalty and Punishment Day and the sister prisons, I would like for us to replace all punishment sentences with rehabilitation programs, such as educational advancement, vocational training schools, therapy, counseling, and restorative justice. We should put all of the people currently incarcerated in these programs, regardless of what they did. These programs and schools would help reform them and reintegration them into society and make them better people overall. It’s been shown to work in other countries. Norway, in particular, has been pretty successful with it. If they can do it, there’s no excuse for us to not do it.

SKIBIDITZE: Well, is Norway currently under pressure from multiple imperialist forces seeking to destroy its independence?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Bet you didn’t know Norway is with the Western imperialists, that they’re on the same team as the United States.

ORGANI: All I’m saying is that it was successful in Norway, therefore it should be successful in this country.

GHAFOORI: Thank you all for your responses. We will move on to the next question. Mr. Hosseini?

HOSSEINI: Let’s direct our focus to the Crossoverian military. Much like the criminal justice system, the Crossoverian Armed Forces has been subject to intense controversy, given its employment of conscription, heavy investment in foreign conflicts, and the use for dealing with protests. Recent years saw calls for it to even be abolished and replaced. Same question as the last. Do you believe the military should be abolished or reformed, or should we keep it the way it is? Governor Kolloro?

KOLLORO: Generally speaking, a military is supposed to prioritize the security of the people and the nation. I can tell you what security is not. Security is not killing protestors demanding basic freedoms. Security is not dragging Crossoveria into another proxy war and draining its resources. Unfortunately, this is what Generals Stronshard, Rodeneck, Loeschorn, Woofnbark, and Moctis have done. I recognize the importance of having a military for any country, especially one with a volatile geopolitical situation like Crossoveria, and I’m not about to repeat Porkchop Funnie’s mistakes. The military needs new leadership, not of humans, but of anthros, anthros who, above all, prioritize the security of Crossoveria. No Iran. Not Venezuela. Only Crossoveria.

HOSSEINI: Governor Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: Excellent question. Just like on other issues, I can see multiple perspectives when it comes to the military. I fully understand and agree that the military is very important for any country to have, not just one with a Crossoveria situation but for everyone. But I also believe that the Crossoverian Armed Forces unfortunately have a habit of getting involved in other countries’ business, supporting our allies, and antagonizing the US and Israel. I don’t think that’s good either. So, I would say let’s do what Governor Kolloro is proposing. Pull out any Crossoverian bases not on Crossoverian soil and concentrate all our focus on Crossoverian defense and peacekeeping. I think that is a decent compromise we can all get behind by, right, everybody? It should be, at least.

HOSSEINI: Okay. Mr. Organi, your thoughts?

ORGANI: Porkchop Funnie had the right idea. We have to abolish the military. It is an inherently oppressive institution that has been used to maintain discrimination against the anthro majority and reinforce human minority rule. Even if that wasn’t the case, militaries are inherently violent and only think about war and hate for others. They only exist to divide the world and drag us into wars. Not only that, they are bad for the environment. Military vehicles leave huge amounts of greenhouse gases in the air, and the testing and bombing that they do destroy ecosystems and decrease biodiversity, which inadvertently hurts us. It is especially wrong for us to have a military given how precious our environment is. It’s time to abolish it and instead pursue peace.

HOSSEINI: Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: Reform. A country this size, with neighbors we have, and enemies we have, and history this long absolutely must have a functioning and strong military. But I’m not gonna act like the way the military is currently being used has been beneficial. Oftentimes, it has been used not to protect civilians but to attack them. We saw this 13 years ago, when the government sent military forces to crack down on protesters demanding change. We saw the exact same thing just a few months ago. The military has also been used to fight wars alongside our allies as already mentioned in the debate. This is antithetical to what militaries are supposed to do. So here’s what we should do to solve this issue. Step one: sign new legislation which prevents the Crossoverian Armed Forces from being used as riot-control. Step two: halt all involvement in foreign conflicts that do not necessarily concern us. Step three: reshape the military to make it more concerned with defense and genuine strategic interests. Step four: reform conscription so that people have a choice between this and college education. With this easy plan, we can reshape the military to serve its true purpose.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Ms. Alizai Telayeb?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Obviously maintain the military as is. This question really isn’t rocket science. A capable military is absolutely a must. That’s the bare minimum for any country. Conscription in particular, especially for Crossoveria, is a must. If you want to maintain your independence, especially against so many imperialist enemies, you have to have strength and you have to have manpower. A combination of these keeps enemies from attacking us. The great Kais Al Abidine Baldemore recognized this back in 1961, and since then our country has gotten stronger. Not to mention the fact that conscription is kind of an equalizer. It does not take into account if you are a man or a woman, a Muslim or Hefflist, a human or an anthro. If you are a Crossoverian citizen, you are serving in the Crossoverian Armed Forces and that’s final. And I think that’s a beautiful thing for this country. So, obviously, keep conscription. In regards to the protests, I was actually the Mayor of Zootropolis at the time the 2013 protests happened. The anthros at the time were acting like wild animals and causing extreme social disorder over an arrest. They rioted. They set fire to photos of the Supreme Leader. They committed crimes. The military had to step in and do what it did then, and they dealt with the situation swiftly. The Crossoverian Armed Forces, as it exists, protects us from external and internal dangers. Any change to this jeopardizes Crossoverian sovereignty.

HOSSEINI: Uh, Ms. Alizai Telayeb, I would like to ask a follow up question. You said anthropomorphic animals living in Zootropolis were acting like “wild animals”? Do you know how offensive that is to anthropomorphic animals?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Oh, I’m sorry. You were the mayor of the largest city in this country and witnessed the effects of the riots firsthand?

HOSSEINI: Well, I reported on the development of the protests and they were largely peaceful from my observations.

ALIZAI TELAYEB: No, they were not, because I said so and because they were breaking laws.

KOLLORO: You know, my running mate partook in those protests, right?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Isn’t Dyce a dog? Dogs aren’t wild animals.

WEASEL: You’ve seriously never heard of feral animals?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Feral and wild are the same thing. You can’t be domestic and wild at the same time. That doesn’t make sense. Look, point here is that the anthros in Zootropolis and elsewhere were acting like wild animals, and you know how dangerous that is. We had to send the military to deal with that.

HOSSEINI: I see. Mr. Skibiditze?

SKIBIDITZE: We should not maintain the military as is. We should expand it. We should make it significantly stronger. We should make it the strongest military the world has ever seen, and the most innovative. Obviously, conscription must be maintained, and I believe we should implement harsher penalties for those who dodge the draft. We should also significantly increase support for our allies, especially Iran given the geopolitical situation right now. As Soraya Jan said perfectly, utilizing the military as chaos control is important and recent events have demonstrated that. Where I’d like to go further is in regard to America. Obviously, we cannot go against them in a head to head war. So, what if we… you know that invention I made that resulted in a whole series based off of them? What if we bring that to life?

WOOFLER: Uhh, I’m pretty sure that would lead to a whole nother massive problem.

SKIBIDITZE: Well, think about it. They would distract the imperialists and make the enemy confused. Plus they don’t operate the way humans do.

WOOFLER: Even if that were the case, what if they defect? Given the nature as described in this show, it’s gonna backfire. It’s not gonna result in a good outcome.

SKIBIDITZE: We’re gonna be fine. Plus, it would be really cool to see a real life action movie.

HOSSEINI: Right. Mr. Woofler, your thoughts?

WOOFLER: Well, obviously, Mr. Skibiditze is 100% wrong and his ideas are going to destroy Crossoveria. As for me, in regards to the military, I think reforms are absolutely a necessity. I believe we must abolish the practice of conscription. Even if we applied it equally, it is still wrong. Not everyone in the country is going to want to serve Crossoveria. They might have different interests. Trade school, going straight to employment after high school, going to college as Mr. Weasel said. We are conscripting people into the military at ages where they are truly finding themselves, and putting them in a situation where they may be sent off to die in a foreign land is just wrong. We should abolish conscription so we give people a choice. You want to join the military? Great. Do you want to go to college or go work at a restaurant after high school? Also awesome. But compulsion is not the way to go. I also believe that the military should be used primarily for peacekeeping purposes. We should not have to get involved in every single conflict our allies are involved in. We saw the effect of that throughout the 1990s. And when I say peacekeeping, I don’t mean using it to crack down on people for exercising their God-given right to self expression and speech. I mean protecting innocent people. It’s undoubtedly important that we do this.

HOSSEINI: Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: I have complex feelings about the military. On the one hand, I am against how the military operates but for different reasons. The mass repression of anthros demonstrating for basic rights and the deployment to other countries in the past are inherently the results of capitalism. Historically, militaries have been used to suppress mobilization, especially against laborers demanding better treatment and people demanding basic rights. The Crossoverian Armed Forces have proven to be no different. Additionally, being in line with trends I’ve observed, the Crossoverian military’s foreign adventurism shows their prioritization of corrupt corporate interests rather than the people. Wars tend to be profitable, after all. In a lot of ways, the military has proven time and time again that they aren’t your friend. On the other hand, the importance of the military cannot be understated, especially given our nation’s context. And you know what else? Militaries could actually be beneficial for regular people. The one thing the bourgeoisie fears more than anything is a populace who can fight back. If we give the people the resources, we give them the power and thus make it harder for them to be oppressed. My idea is this. We reform the military to align them with the people and against corruption. It will no longer go against us. It will work alongside us. And it will not go to war unless necessary. It will provide for the community. It’s time to make them a force of the people as they should be.

HOSSEINI: And finally, Mr. President?

AL MESKIN: Maintain the military as is. Time and time again, the military has proven that it is a reliable source of stability in this country. As my competitors noted, thanks to its strength, we’ve repelled any more attempts at foreign intervention. Can’t invade or attack a country with several military bases across not just the country but the globe or incredible defense of shores, air, and land. The military has also done a great job at maintaining social order at home, as demonstrated by their amazing responses to the unlawful riots in the past 15 years.

KOLLORO: You mean when they did mass executions against anthros? Where over 3,000 innocent people lost their lives in a week?

AL MESKIN: Ask Mayor Soraya what went down and see how innocent those people were.

HOSSEINI: Or ask me, who was reporting on the protests as they were happening.

AL MESKIN: Alright, alright. Point here is that The Crossoverian Armed Forces brought stability to this country and doing anything to them is going to end terribly for Crossoveria. It’s gonna leave room for imperialist meddling and even invite something like the Treaty of Elmore again. We can’t let that happen. The military is also important because it’s an incredible machine for discipline. By employing a rigid routine, the military trains the youth out of laziness and into structure. By enforcing harsh punishments, it teaches accountability. By conducting intense regular training, it gets people into staying calm under pressure. All of these are very, very important skills people must have in a functioning society. Thus, in a way, I’m inclined to agree with Mr. Skibiditze that there should be harsher punishments for dodging the draft. But overall, keeping it the way it is is an absolute must for Crossoveria.

HOSSEINI: Thank you all for these responses.

GHAFOORI: I think this is the appropriate time to turn to the issue of domestic uprisings. Crossoveria has experienced episodes of unrest throughout its history, and the way it has dealt with such unrest has become incredibly controversial. In 2013, millions took to the streets to protest against laws such as Appropriate Anthro Appearance. In 2026, millions protested in solidarity with Iranian protestors, becoming the largest uprising since the revolution. These protests have been met with significant force and led to casualties, sparking international condemnation. Now, let’s say another uprising of this scale occurs tomorrow with people demanding major reforms and the abolition of institutions such as the Department of Virtue and Vice. How will you deal with this uprising? Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: I will follow through with those reforms. If abolishing the Department of Virtue and Vice and eliminating Punishment Day is the will of the people, we must fulfill that will. After all, this is what Kais Al Abidine Baldemore laid down in his Veleyat il Aman piece. The government and its leaders must always protect the interests of the people. We fought and won the revolution so we could have a government that listens to the people rather than doing whatever it wants. I’m sure if Baldemore saw that anthros were protesting Appropriate Anthro Appearance when he first implemented it, it would no longer be a thing. Even if they wanted it then, they almost certainly do not want it now, and he would have the same attitude if he were still ruling. We should have that exact same mindset. Not only not listening to our people but also cracking down on them is not going to solve the problem. It will only make things worse for them and for us, especially for us because suppressing people’s voices will only further destroy the revolution’s legitimacy. The last thing we need is our citizens cheering on a NATO invasion. If we want to maintain our sovereignty as a country, we have to listen to the people and do what the people want. They deserve to be heard.

GHAFOORI: Thank you. Mr. Woofler?

WOOFLER: She said it perfectly. I 100% agree with her and I would do the exact same thing. No notes, though I do have insights of my own. I think a scenario like this could be avoided by abolishing the repressive laws and institutions that instigate them in the first place. That is something I will do on day 1. Not only that, but introducing sweeping civil liberties protections would help significantly. The big one would be freedom of expression. Introducing that would double down on the elimination of Appropriate Anthro Appearance and satisfy a significant issue for anthros. But if we’re in a situation where people are protesting for an unrelated reason, I will follow through on that as well. The government should serve the people and satisfy their demands, not the other way around.

GHAFOORI: Thoughts, Governor Kolloro?

KOLLORO: I’m not gonna do what I’m told by the people so much as I am going to side with the people. They are sick and tired of all the repression and the discrimination they’ve endured for decades. They want genuine change, and so do I. I’m gonna side with the people every time and make the changes necessary though any means necessary, even if it overrides voices in the Crossoverian Law House who want them suppressed. On an unrelated note, I really do not like how you are downplaying the people’s uprisings. People did not spontaneously decide to hate on Appropriate Anthro Appearance. They protested because an anthro was killed by the police for violating it, a law that should not have been a thing in the first place. What did they do when we protested? They attacked our cities, went after civilians, and executed 3,000 innocent people. They did this on a larger scale just a few months ago. Don’t brush these events off like this.

GHAFOORI: I’m not. We’re trying to be as impartial as possible.

KOLLORO: There is no neutrality when it comes to oppression. You are either on the side of the oppressed, us anthros, or on the side of the oppressors.

WOOFLER: Hey, I’ve… I’ve been on your side.

KOLLORO: This isn’t about you, Kipper. People who are protesting are calling for the end of discrimination. This shouldn’t have to be a controversial thing. The correct stance to take is to side with them and stand in solidarity. There can be no compromise to this, especially when they’ve been repressed for far too long.

GHAFOORI: Very well. Mr. Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: I mean, I get why the anthros are upset and all and I believe they have some genuine concerns. But the way they are protesting and demanding change isn’t really acceptable. I take it from Soraya’s anecdote that they were destroying stuff, insulting the Supreme Leader, and violating Appropriate Anthro Appearance and stuff. That’s no good, and it's stuff like this that should warrant an intervention from our military. But we should also examine exactly what they were demanding. The dissolution of our Guidance Patrol? I think that is way too extreme for the right-wing parties to accept. How about we reduce their presence and make them issue warnings first? By doing this, we remove the possibility of another incident like Ghavam Kimarijad from occuring again and we maintain institutions fundamental to the Crossoverian revolution. So, I would listen to the people with major reservations. I agree that just suppressing them and calling it a day isn’t great for PR, but not only are they getting totally wild which is not acceptable, but some of their demands are completely unreasonable for this country.

GHAFOORI: Mr. President?

AL MESKIN: This is one of the few issues I agree with Marie BonAztire on. While Islam forbids explicitly forbids corruption, it also forbids unauthorized uprisings. What went down in the past is what is known in Islam as total chaos or corruption on earth. As Ms. Alizai Telayeb mentioned, the animals in Zootropolis 13 years ago were spreading chaos to the city, and by extension the whole country. The military HAD to step in to stop it. And, as a matter of fact, it was worse earlier this year. What went down was not a protest, but rather a rabies pandemic, and the animals were spreading it even to the humans.

WEASEL: Oh, that’s weird. Let me ask you this, Mr. President. Were any of them foaming in the mouth?

*Ghafoori rolls her eyes*

AL MESKIN: Uh, well, I mean they had other symptoms, too, such as agitation, confusion, hallucinations…

WEASEL: Fear of water?

AL MESKIN: No? Why are you asking me all these questions?

WEASEL: You do realize that anthropomorphic animals are naturally immune to rabies, right?

*Al Meskin is silent for a bit and then clears his throat*

AL MESKIN: You never know.

WEASEL: There was actually a study conducted in the 1960s which proved the rabies virus had no effect on anthros.

AL MESKIN: What does that have to do with anything? It’s probably outdated given what we’ve witnessed this past year and with the state the animals were in.

WEASEL: It demonstrates that you are not interested in facts and logic as much as you are continuing the repression and dehumanization of anthropomorphic animals.

AL MESKIN: Do you seriously not hear yourself? How can you dehumanize animals?

*silence*

KOLLORO: I RESENT THAT!!

SKIBIDITZE: I mean, it’s a good question, though.

KOLLORO: WE’RE ANTHROPOMORPHIC! ANTHROPOMORPHIC!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT WORD MEANS, OR ARE YOU GENUINELY THAT UNINFORMED?!

AL MESKIN: Can I… can I speak? I wasn’t even finished.

KOLLORO: I’M NOT GONNA LET YOU TALK ABOUT US LIKE THAT! NOT WHEN WE OUTNUMBER YOU 3 TO 1!

SKIBIDITZE: Well, that outburst was skibidi! -2000 aura points.

AL MESKIN: Anyways, if I were faced with the situation you presented, I would respond the exact way I responded to the uprising earlier this year. Any instability cannot be tolerated. It is explicitly forbidden in Islam.

GHAFOORI: *sighs* Thank you, Mr. President. Mr. Skibiditze?

SKIBIDITZE: I would use the invention I mentioned on those rioters and call it a day. So what if they get transformed into them? We used to do animal transformations all the time. And if they knew that rising up against the government would result in something skibidi, they would not do it. They would know they would absolutely be cooked. I think that threat can repel any disobedience to Crossoveria. Given what we’ve gone through the past few decades, it is absolutely necessary that we prevent an insurrection like these from happening again. We can’t let Crossoveria be dictated by rouge betas.

GHAFOORI: Ms. Alizai Telayeb?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: As I already mentioned, I was the mayor of Zootropolis in 2013. I vividly remember the incredible amount of chaos the anthros perpetrated following the Kimarijad incident. As I already described, it was just awful. It really was the biggest test Crossoveria had at the time. I am incredibly thankful for the military for stepping in and putting an end to that madness. Same with the riots from this year. As I’ve said many times before and in this debate, where we’re at right now, who our enemies are, we cannot afford to be nice to those who go against the revolution. If we allow ourselves to submit to the demands of these rioters, we inadvertently create the opportunity for our imperialist enemies to come at our doorstep, and that’s the last thing we need. The same situation applies to this hypothetical you’ve provided. Ending this uprising swiftly and through any means necessary is exactly what we must do. It’s for the sake of stability and maintenance of sovereignty.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Organi, any thoughts?

ORGANI: Appeasing them is the way to go. Whatever demands the people have, it is our duty to accommodate them, even if we do not agree. Violence is never the answer to anything, especially responding to uprisings, even intense ones. As Ms. Karaji, I believe, mentioned, responding with violence is only going to damage our government’s legitimacy and our international reputation. We’ve seen the effects of that. Instead, we need to take a different approach. If they want something abolished, that thing is getting abolished whether we agree with it or not. If they want somebody like a former Supreme Leader to be prosecuted and tried, we would make that happen. It’s really simple. This shouldn’t even be a complex issue. We would fix a lot of problems by just listening to Crossoverians rather than sending the military to fight them.

GHAFOORI: And finally, Mr. Weasel?

SKIBIDITZE: Hey, why did you let him respond after he interrupted? -3000 aura points. You have no rizz.

GHAFOORI: As I was saying, Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: Generally speaking, we should listen to the people’s demands. I recognize the importance of stopping actual violence and I want to make it clear that we must not tolerate attacks on civilians and infrastructure. I will have no problem sending the police if this were to truly occur. But the only violent thing about the protests was the responses to them. Cracking down on them in this way did not restore order. Instead, they fostered deeper resentment and hurt the government’s legitimacy. I will take a different approach if an uprising like this were to occur. The obvious first step, as my competitor Mr. Woofler noted, is to create new legislation which protects the people’s civil liberties, especially freedom of assembly and peaceful protest. The next step would be to fix the problems protestors in the past had concerns about, especially discrimination. Under my administration, there will be a full repeal of any policies and offices that have contributed to the protests in the first place. Through this simple process, we would decrease revolts of this significance without destroying the country’s international standing doing so.

GHAFOORI: Thank you, Mr. Weasel. We will now move forward with the next question. Mr. Hosseini?

HOSSEINI: We now turn to the extremely hot issue of anthro rights. Despite making up 77% of Crossoveria’s total population, anthropomorphic animals have been, and continue to be, subject to repression. Laws such as Appropriate Anthro Appearance, gentrification efforts, and historical bans from politics have established a system of de facto segregation and treated them as regular animals. In recent years, there have been major efforts to roll back on that repression, though many in the country insist that there is room for improvement. As President, how will you handle the issue of anthro rights? We’ll start with the candidate who has been the most civilized throughout the debate. Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: Thank you. The issue of anthro rights is not some secondary problem when we make up 77% of the population and have lived on this island longer than the human species existed. Yet, for the past few decades, we have been treated as second class citizens. We’ve been subject to Appropriate Anthro Appearance, barred from participating in politics, policed more harshly, imprisoned more hastily, and told that we are closer to animals than people in practice and in law. This repression ends now. If elected, as I discussed, I will work to repeal any and all laws and offices that have instigated this repression. Appropriate Anthro Appearance will no longer exist. The Department for Virtue and Vice will be dismantled. The six sister prisons will be shut down. All discriminatory barriers will be shut down. I will ensure that anthros get the same rights and treatment as humans and that they get the same opportunities as humans. One thing I will not do is give anthros special favors just because they are anthros or treat humans as though they are occupiers. Equality means humans and anthros are on the same level and will not get treated any differently. The progress we’ve made, especially given who the Supreme Leader is, is very real, but it is incomplete. I will accelerate the progress.

HOSSEINI: Mr. Woofler?

WOOFLER: I 100% agree with Mr. Weasel on everything he just said. He explained it perfectly. His opinion on this matter is my opinion, so there’s that.

HOSSEINI: So, we should move on?

WOOFLER: I don’t want to waste time. I have the exact same plan as Mr. Weasel. Nothing more or less.

HOSSEINI: Alright. Governor Organi?

ORGANI: I will make every effort to protect the Crossoverian anthros. Given how intertwined the anthros are to this land and the incredible history they have with it, harming them harms Crossoveria and its environment at large in the long run. I agree that human domination needs to stop and that we should be equal to anthros, but I have different ideas as to how I would approach this. I would give anthropomorphic animals special environmental protections, allowing them to live in nature and how they please. This will be incredibly beneficial to us all, as the anthros would be free from repression and our environmental conditions would be enhanced. I will also abolish any institutions that have perpetrated the repression of anthros. So, in addition to Appropriate Anthro Appearance and the Virtue and Vice Department, I will also abolish the military and prisons. I’ve explained why before in the debate, and it’s kinda self-explanatory given our history. And also something that would be extremely beneficial, as I’ve said before, is making this country go vegan. There should be no reason Crossoverians are eating animal products when a huge portion of our country is made up of anthropomorphic animals who not only outnumber humans, but are also recognized citizens. A vegan Crossoveria. A combination of these will present the best case scenario for anthros, and by extension, all of Crossoveria. There’s a very good reason to pursue this.

HOSSEINI: Mr. Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: Again, this is another issue I see both sides of the argument on.

KOLLORO: Are you serious?

RANOLDI: Very much so. Thank you, Governor. Anyways, like I said, I understand both points of view. I get that the anthros are not big fans of the laws that are for them. But I also do not think upending the whole system just to satisfy them would be good for the country at all. What if we relax laws such as Appropriate Anthro Appearance in areas such as beaches or beach towns? We’ve had the human dress code relaxed in these places. I think we could loosen restrictions for anthros as well. That would be one thing. I’ve already mentioned this next part in my answer to the previous question, but we could also make the Guidance Patrol more lenient on violators. Maybe they should normalize giving out multiple warnings to people who violate the dress code before they take action? That sounds reasonable. But full dismantling of AAA and institutions are just unfeasible for this country and its people. So the most I would do are some moderate reformations to the system to make us slightly more lenient to the anthros, but nothing too crazy.

HOSSEINI: Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: Yeah, I would like to rebut. What the Governor had just said demonstrates that he ultimately sides with the oppressors. You do realize that there cannot be a middle ground to literally everything, right? The issue of anthro rights is an example of this. If you do not support the full liberation of anthros, you are siding with the very forces currently repressing them.

RANOLDI: But we have to work within the system to make change.

KARAJI: You mean the system which conducted mass executions of anthros who protested them?!

RANOLDI: Absolutely.

KARAJI: Fishhook theory in practice, ladies and gentlemen. The issue of anthro rights is one that should not even be up for contention, and I will make sure that it is not by the next election. The fact that we are continuing to discriminate against the supermajority of Crossoverians is in itself a very betrayal of the values our forefathers fought for in the revolution. And by keeping the repression alive, you shorten the revolution’s lifespan regardless of your intentions. Abolishing AAA, the Department of Virtue of Vice, the Guidance Patrol? It should not be a matter of if we would do it, but rather how fast we do it. We would be in a much better position with the rest of the world and in retrospect if we address this issue headon. That is exactly what I will do.

HOSSEINI: Mr. President?

AL MESKIN: I have made it clear where I stand on violent uprisings. They are not to be tolerated in the country. But I am also firmly against the discrimination against the animals. It is forbidden in Islam to subject groups of people to unequal treatment based on demographics. The Quran makes this crystal clear. As proof, I will cite this verse. Surah Al Hujarat, 49:13: "O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." So, alongside being explicitly prohibited in Islam by itself, the discrimination against anthros was one of the major pillars of the persistent corruption under Marie BonAztire, which is also very much forbidden in Islam. I’ve made it clear to everyone in the last election that I’m against this kind of repression, especially given that a lot of the animals are Muslim, and under my administration, we’ve been active in combating the discrimination. We’ve made enforcement of AAA more lenient and we’ve lifted anthros out of poverty. I believe I’ve been dealing with this issue in an appropriate manner, so I’m gonna continue doing what I’ve done during my term as President.

HOSSEINI: Okay. Ms. Alizai Telayeb?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Marie BonAztire knew how to deal with anthropomorphic animals, because she saw them for what they technically were: animals. That’s exactly how I would approach this issue.

ORGANI: Humans are animals, though, biologically speaking.

ALIZAI TELAYEB: No, they are not. They were created by God to be distinct. They were created in God’s perfect image. Now let me speak. Anyways, As President, I will do what she did as Supreme Leader and put the anthros back in their place. Trust me on this one. I was the Zootropolis’ mayor after all. I have direct experience with them. At the end of the day, they are still animals, so we have to treat them as such.

KOLLORO: You mean you want to see mass executions of anthropomorphic animals again because we dare protest your apartheid? You dare talk about the majority of Crossoveria in this way? You are insane.

*Alizai Telayeb stares at Kolloro silently for a few seconds*

ALIZAI TELAYEB: You know what? Exhibit A.

*Alizai Telayeb turns fully towards Kolloro, stares him dead in the eye, smiles, and beats her chest.*

KOLLORO: You did not just do that! HOW DARE YOU!!!

ALIZAI TELAYEB: There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. At the end of the day, anthropomorphic animals are still animals, and Rani Kolloro has just proven that.

HOSSEINI: This is absolutely unacceptable! For a provocation of this level, Soraya, we are going to skip over you for the next question.

ALIZAI TELAYEB: Are you serious right now?!

KOLLORO: Thank you for that!

HOSSEINI: Same applies to you too, Governor.

KOLLORO: WHAT? WHY? WHO’S SIDE ARE YOU ON?!

HOSSEINI: Nobody’s. Neither Arezo or I am taking sides. We’re just moderating this debate and keeping it civil. Your behavior was also unacceptable. We’re gonna skip over you as well.

KOLLORO: Of course. Humans.

HOSSEINI: Mr. Skibiditize?

SKIBIDITZE: First off, -1,000,000 aura to both Soraya Jan and Rani Jan. Both of you are cooked. Secondly, I do not believe Crossoveria would benefit from focusing on anthropomorphic animals. If all we care about is if anthros are following some dress code, it will inevitably create an opportunity for our imperialist enemies to destroy us. We could get Pirouz Zakulezaka 2.0, new and improved and with full NATO support. We don’t want that. I’m not saying that we should disregard law and order or that anthros should rise up again. Absolutely not. What I’m saying is that we shouldn’t be so focused on enforcing Appropriate Anthro Appearance. Instead, we should be focused on further strengthening the military. This will involve divesting a lot of resources we pour into the Guidance Patrol and spend it on the military. Whether or not this counts as uplifting anthro rights would be up to the interpretation of Crossoverians. Again, I strongly support law and order in general, not just for anthropomorphic animals.

WOOFLER: Uh, what about what you said in your last response when asked about how you’d deal with protestors?

SKIBIDITZE: That doesn’t have anything to do with the anthro issue. They could be humans for all I know. The moderators didn’t specify anyways.

HOSSEINI: Thank you for that. We are moving onto the next question, and for that, I turn to Ms. Ghafoori.

GHAFOORI: Let’s now turn to the issue of population shifts. Because of the historical oppression of the anthro populace, there have been major waves of emigration where anthros are leaving for countries such as Turkey and Australia. At the same time, Crossoveria has seen a drastic increase in immigration, with nearly half migrants coming from Afghanistan. These recent trends have sparked internal discussions about Crossoveria’s future. Concerns have been raised that not only would these lead to the decrease of the anthropomorphic animal population in Crossoveria, but also that we would not be able to house everyone, as we anticipate the Crossoverian population will be well above 100 million by 2030. How will you address both mass human immigration and mass anthro emigration? Governor Organi?

ORGANI: At the rate this immigration is happening, it really needs to stop. Don’t get me wrong, I am all in favor of welcoming refugees. I think it is important for us to provide safe haven to those fleeing dangerous situations. What I am concerned about is the environment. Right now, we’re running out of living spaces for the migrants. Obviously, this violates a core tenant of the revolution: making sure everyone is housed. But at the same time, because, as I’ve mentioned before, that our environment is nothing like anywhere else, this land is just too precious for us to be transforming it to make way for more buildings. It is from the waters of Feral Forest that we get freshwater. It is from the bushes and trees of the forests that we produce fruit. We’ve been sufficient all this time because of the resources being generated at home. Destroying all that just to build more homes will inevitably hurt everyone. It’s such a shame too, because I have empathy for all the people coming to this country, but given how precious the environment is, I really do not think it would be good for us to let all them in. With that said, I will work with the international community to find a solution and safe havens. I believe this will greatly benefit everyone.

GHAFOORI: Alright. But how will you address anthro emigration specifically?

ORGANI: I would combine my efforts on human immigration with loosening anthro restrictions and the other stuff I said in response to the last question. I think this could be a great way to bring anthros back.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Woofler?

WOOFLER: Well, I think the governor is right and wrong. I absolutely believe this is something we should discuss further with the international community. After all, this is not just a Crossoveria problem, nor is this something we should work on by ourselves. However, prioritizing the environment over human beings is just plain wrong. We should accept them no matter what and we should accommodate them through building more homes and setting up programs for these individuals specifically to get them accustomed to Crossoveria and proper paths to them becoming citizens. In regards to anthro emigration, that can be easily fixed by removing repressive institutions and implementing full civil liberties such as free speech, free press, free religion, and free assembly, among others. This is, after all, why so many anthros have left the country. Even if this results in significant jumps in populations, again, we have the resources to build more homes. Additionally, I hope my competitors consider this, but this could actually give us a competitive advantage against the United States. We would become the new land of opportunity and freedom where both humans and anthros, regardless of their background, can live in peace and harmony. I think that it is quite feasible for us to accomplish this.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Skibiditze, any thoughts?

SKIBIDITZE: Funnily enough, I lowkey agree with him when it comes to human immigration and expanding housing. We should encourage those trends. It will be extremely valuable for the military and for our national strength. Think about it. More people means more manpower, and more manpower means bigger muscles on the international level. Thus, the chance of us cooking the imperialist forces and those who want to go to war with us will be higher than ever before. Combine that with the use of my inventions, and nobody will stand a chance against the Veleyati Republic. When it comes to the anthro issue, cracking down on emigration at large would be the way to go. It’s already pretty sus that they are leaving the country in the first place. I would introduce new policies and requirements, as well as fees, for anthros who want to leave the country. No, that is not a contradiction of what I said in my last response. Other countries do not make suitable homes for anthropomorphic animals given how they’ve been portrayed in media and in general. Plus, anthro emigration would be a massive liability to Crossoveria given our history with them. It would be Pirouz Zakulezaka 2.0. That’s the last thing we need. As President, I will try and bring as many people to this country as possible to help increase our international strength.

GHAFOORI: Okay. Mr. President?

AL MESKIN: The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was a refugee. He and his followers fled Mecca because they were Muslim, which was incredibly dangerous in the city at the time. He traveled 200 miles across the desert to Medina, where the people welcomed him. As good Muslims, we must remember the Prophet Muhammad as we navigate the present day. This situation is no different. Millions of people are fleeing for a better life, into and out of Crossoveria. For the migrants who are coming in, especially our fellow Muslims, we must welcome them with open arms. This is not something to be debated. We will build homes for these people and we will take very good care of them. Now, the same applies to the anthros leaving Crossoveria in droves. The amount of discrimination that took place under Marie BonAztire and the ongoing repression forced thousands of anthros to flee. This discrimination must not continue. My administration has been working on addressing anthro rights and, again, we’ve made considerable progress. We will work on this further to solve anthro emigration. So, that’s essentially how I would go about addressing this.

GHAFOORI: Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: These trends really aren’t a mystery. Let’s start with anthro emigration. When you spend decades enforcing laws like Appropriate Anthro Appearance, implementing cruel and unusual punishments, and cracking down on resistance, people leave. We drove them out by our own fault. The best way to not only stop this trend but also get a lot of anthros back is to end practices and laws that perpetrated the discrimination of anthros, like AAA and the sister prisons. If anthros are awarded the same rights as humans, there won’t be a need for them to leave. When it comes to humans coming into Crossoveria, that is not a new thing. We’ve been welcoming migrants for centuries. But uncontrolled amounts will hurt Crossoveria in the long run by creating shortages and ultimately dividing people. The solution to this specific issue is to tie immigration to capacity. We need to implement proper processing, enforce clear criteria, and invest in housing and services to accommodate the growing number of migrants. In short, to solve the anthro emigration issue, I will eliminate the repression that has caused it, and in regards to human immigration, I will manage it to be in line with what Crossoveria can actually support.

GHAFOORI: Thank you. Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: I would like a world without borders. After all, they are capitalist constructs designed to enforce division and proliferate tribalism. But I consider the massive amounts of people coming to the country to be quite concerning. There have been instances across the world where something like this has occurred and the country has gone into disarray. A lot of these have been propagated by imperialist and capitalist forces seeking to destroy a country’s independence. I don’t want to take that risk for Crossoveria. Right now, we must enforce strict border control to manage the influx of migrants.

RANOLDI: Again, proving the Horseshoe theory right.

KARAJI: Are you serious, right now?

RANOLDI: Yes. The right wants strong border control. You are a socialist and yet you want border control as well.

KARAJI: No borders is my ideal, but realistically that would trigger an invasion.

RANOLDI: That’s what the right thinks.

GHAFOORI: Governor! Governor! You know the rule. We’re skipping over you for this one. Continue, Ms. Karaji.

KARAJI: Thank you. So, that’s how I would deal with immigration. In regards to anthro emigration, I’ll eliminate all the institutions instrumental in the repression of the anthros to, at the very least, decrease the amount of anthros that are leaving. I’m not so sure about whether a lot of the anthros who have left would come back.

GHAFOORI: Thank you all for your responses. We will now move on to the next issue, and for that, I turn to Mahmood Hosseini.

HOSSEINI: Let’s turn now to the issue of generative AI. Mr. Skibiditze, you have repeatedly indicated in the past that you would like to repeal Crossoveria’s ban on generative AI. According to recent reports, tens of thousands of jobs across the globe have been lost due to AI, and projections estimate that that number could increase to 300 million if current trends continue. Additional reports indicate that generative AI usage is linked to decreased critical thinking. What do you say to Crossoverians who worry that legalizing generative AI would negatively impact the country?

SKIBIDITZE: Well, what these unemployed betas with zero rizz need to realize is that AI is the future, whether we like it or not. Our enemies have already adapted it. Our closest ally has. Virtually every other country has adopted AI in some way. If we stay back and play purity politics because of the supposed effect it has on the economy or environment or people’s brains, we’re eventually going to get ourselves cooked. For a country that wants to maintain its revolutionary values and independence and freedom, the last thing we need is for those things to be compromised because we aren’t up to date. Think of it like an electronic device. You gotta update regularly. Introducing generative AI will be that update I intend to bring about. Even if this is not an immediate update that we need, there are great benefits to AI. It’s more efficient than humans in a lot of ways. It boosts creativity. It helps students with exams. And it makes art accessible. We need to stop fearmongering about it and start treating it as an actually beneficial tool. We need it now more than ever. You may not like it now, but in ten years, you will be grateful for it.

HOSSEINI: Thank you. Does anyone have any thoughts on Generative AI or Mr. Skibiditze’s statment?

ALIZAI TELAYEB: I do. I think it is wrong to bring generative AI into Crossoveria, especially since we’ve seen the effects of it in other countries. It’s making people dumber by having them rely on AI chatbots for things as basic as a grocery list. It’s hurting students because it proliferates accusations of cheating to the point where students who wrote their papers all by themselves are being reported. It’s ruining careers by overtaking jobs. With so many terrible effects it has on people, there is no reason to introduce it to Crossoveria. I don’t want to see our people be put in a situation where they are fired and replaced by a machine just because it’s more efficient. It’s going to increase unemployment and therefore hurt the economy. If we want to remain self sufficient as a country, we cannot let these machines run our lives in the way they run the lives of millions across the globe. We must maintain the ban, for the sake of our people and for the sake of Crossoveria.

HOSSEINI: Governor Organi?

ORGANI: She’s right on this. Generative AI will have disastrous consequences for this country. As she said, it will take away jobs, decrease critical thinking, and harm education. But there’s a significant negative that she did not bring up, and it’s the biggest one: the environmental impact. Generative AI is not spontaneous; it is supported by data centers. These data centers consume roughly 20 times more electricity than other internet services, and asking an AI chatbot a question as opposed to a normal search engine consumes ten times more energy than the latter. They also consume tons of water for cooling. The last thing Crossoveria needs is data centers relying on our waters and our Qanats to support generative AI. We especially cannot afford to bring them into the county when 88 million citizens rely on this water on a regular basis. Because of this, and because of how precious our environment is, introducing generative AI to Crossoveria is unconscionable. What Mr. Skibiditze is proposing is a destruction of our environment via AI. Absolutely not!

HOSSEINI: Mr. President?

AL MESKIN: Mr. Skibiditze, I do not believe your plan for Crossoveria to fully embrace AI would be good for us, especially given all the problems the other candidates mentioned. I’m not necessarily saying that AI is the most evil thing in the world. After all, it is a rather neutral thing according to Islam. My main concern is its incorrectness. It has a habit of producing information that is just plain wrong. Having people rely on it for plenty of things will only mislead them to believe such incorrect things. Islam is not immune to this. That is why I am strongly against its use for religious purposes. AI could absolutely be a tool, but where we are at in 2026 and what we have seen in other countries, approaching it with extreme caution is a must. Decisions like change the course of the country and the lives of the millions of people who live here. Crossoveria should not be put in a position where it is entirely dependent on AI. I hope you consider that, Mr. Skibiditze.

HOSSEINI: Governor Ranoldi?

RANOLDI: Artificial intelligence is quite a neutral thing. I do think it is the future as well, but it is not as glamorous or amazing as Mr. Skibiditze falsely paints it as, nor is it evil or demonic. It’s heavily dependent on how you use AI. For example, using it to help you study for an exam is great, especially if the class is super hard and/or if you forgot to study until the last minute. It is also super efficient, and I believe this will greatly benefit law enforcement. Where I have reservations, however, is in regard to videos. Once, a government intern came up to me and showed me an AI video made by a foreigner of Kais Al Abidine Baldemore playing Minecraft. I watched it and I think these kinds of videos are very bad and should not be allowed to exist in Crossoveria. Based on the comments section of that video, some people seemed genuinely fooled by it. In this regard, I think such concerns are appropriate to address. With all that said, I’ll be happy to work with all sides on this issue to come up with a solution for generative AI that makes everyone happy in the end. I don’t think making us going to the extreme of being AI-centric is the way to go.

HOSSEINI: Mr. Weasel?

WEASEL: According to Mr. Skibiditze, anybody that is genuinely worried about job loss, environment damage, and loss of critical thinking is a snowflake with no charm and needs to get with the program. Not only does this demonstrate a lack of seriousness, it also represents a significant danger to Crossoveria. Generative AI was not banned for no reason. The reports that Mr. Hosseini brought up are very much real, and the only reason they seem surreal in the eyes of Crossoverians is due to the ban we have in place. It isn’t fearmongering or backwardness to recognize the inherent danger of generative AI. And just because other countries are standardizing AI use and just because their governments are using AI for their own purposes doesn’t mean that Crossoveria should as well. I’m all for technological progress. I’m for progress in general. But without setting stern limits on how it is used as Mr. Skibiditze did, it stops being progressive and starts being reckless. This is especially bad given how many unresolved issues Crossoveria is dealing with. Until we establish clear cut guidelines on artificial intelligence, the ban should be maintained.

HOSSEINI: Mr. Woofler?

WOOFLER: I love that Mr. Skibiditze brought up the claim of AI making art accessible and boasting creativity. I’d like to talk about that. When everyone is an artist or a writer, nobody is. You are not boosting creativity or making art accessible by introducing AI to it. You are disregarding genuine talent. You are removing the difficulty and the hard work that comes with art. You are taking away the very thing that makes art art: humanity. Making art accessible will remove thousands of jobs in that industry and replace them with soulless automation. This will effectively bankrupt it. People do not want to watch movies or listen to music or read books written entirely by a machine, especially not when very talented individuals could create masterpieces, write very good books, make incredible movies, and produce amazing music. Leave art to humans. I agree with you that AI is a useful tool and we should legalize it, but it’s all about efficiency. We should reserve generative AI for things that require efficiency such as studying or law enforcement. Art shouldn’t be involved with this.

HOSSEINI: Governor Kolloro?

KOLLORO: Anthropomorphic animals already have plenty of issues they are dealing with, between the discriminatory policies and worse conditions. The last thing they need is another human-introduced invention, especially generative AI. Mr. Skibiditze’s plan to legalize generative AI will have so many disastrous consequences for anthropomorphic animals. In addition to taking water from our sacred lands for data centers, generative AI could also be used to portray anthros in a demeaning manner. I remember all the endorsements we saw throughout the previous edition, and many of them were not attacking Porkchop Funnie as much as they were attacking anthropomorphic animals, as a whole. Now imagine what these same people will do if they had their hands on a chatbot that can generate just about anything. It’s gonna be even worse. We can’t allow a medium that would be used to spread hate against the majority of our own people. The fact that Mr. Skibiditze is proposing laws where this becomes reality is deplorable on so many levels. You say we will be grateful in the future. I say you’re laying the foundation for things to get even worse for anthros.

HOSSEINI: And finally, Ms. Karaji?

KARAJI: I agree with everything Mr. Kolloro, Governor Organi, and Mr. Woofler said about generative AI. It is incredibly dangerous to Crossoveria on so many levels. Ending the ban will harm our brains, our environment, and our future. Plus, in regards to efficiency, generative AI is not really as good at its job as you may think. I’ve seen compilation videos on Canan of people from other countries typing to AI prompts to ask them to generate things as basic as the letters of the alphabet. The result was, well, not anything you could consider teachable. The truth is, AI is not very good at doing the job it is supposed to. If it has been failing this spectacularly, it would actually be counter beneficial to end the ban on it. There is no reason for us to pursue something like this. Mr. Skibiditze’s idea is just as reckless as his idea of using his inventions. In his terminology, we would be cooked under his administration, more so than ever before.

HOSSEINI: Very well. We’re going to the next question now, and for that, I turn to Arezo Ghafoori.
