Clowns in your nation

Postby Binary Load Lifters » Mon Jun 07, 2010 1:37 pm

OOC: Purely because I couldn't be bothered with more military-orientated threads

All clowns in Binary Load Lifters are members of the Clowning Guild, established in 1923, who have stood up to the government to demand clown rights on many occasions. Many custard pies were thrown in the name of liberty.

The current leader of the Clowning Guild is President Cuddles McGuffin.

Clowns, acrobats, jugglers, etc. are highly respected members of Fatatatutian society. Troupes of them travel the countryside, performing for donations, and are welcomed into people's homes like members of the family.

Our current Defense Minister, Harmony Chang, is a juggler, clown and magician by training.

All of our intelligence operatives go to one of the various accredited clown colleges to learn picking pockets, getting out of handcuffs and other arts useful to their profession.

"I like clowns. Why? Because they scare the shit out of me. Not many people can do that."

- President Paul W. Kelly

Professional clowns, jugglers, mimes, acrobats and so on are as respected as any lawful professionals in this country. We have numerous circuses here, and such performers are also common at birthday parties for young children.

Many cheap entertainers and the like exist in New Amerik; they are generally treated the same as the rest of the people. However, for those truly skilled in the arts of illusion, trickery, and the arts, as some clowns are, then they are trained at the Hall of Unorthodox Science in Illusioneering. Thus, the clowns of New Amerik who are called such are essentially regular citizens who have obtained a rare permission to go into private business, or are employed by governmental "entertainment" businesses.

Clowns are banned because they literally scare everyone, in fact, even the clowns got scared of clowns so everytime they look in the mirror they'd scream like girls.
My nation is not like my nation page at all, it contradicts itself, we don't EVER eat kangaroos, that's just very sad. Also vegetarianism is compulsory yet it still says it's the nation's favourite main course and all and stuff.

We chose to. And your reply that says 'There are in this world those who say the world is flat. Will you also ban globes?' is totally irrelevant to what we are dealing with. So are you saying that we shouldn't ban them?

I'm saying that just because a lot of people complain, that doesn't mean they're right and clowns need to be outright banned. In that way, my last message was entirely valid. Those people are just being silly.

Ah, but then we reach something else, the populace just hates them plain straight so, we shouldn't. There were some incidents, a clown accidentally set on fire a circus tent and killed 789 people, another led hundreds of Venomous Sand Snakes into a town called Miraz killing people. Therefor, you see why, in another perspective, from another reason.

It would have helped had you mentioned those specific circumstances from the beginning, but even so, such fears and reactions are entirely unreasonable.

Never mind. We hope you and yours will one day come to sense, and see there is no harm in clowns.

We have bards instead, they tell stories and sing songs some of which can be quite funny.

But we draw the line at pouring custard down a man's pants, we have standards.

We do not really have clowns but we do have jesters, bards, jugglers and other entertainers that specialises themselves in a specific entertaining school and then perform on the streets or marketplaces.

"Clowns" as such do not exist in Jeuna. Street entertainers, comedic musicians, performers, actors, stand-up comedians, etc. are the usual pictures that come to mind when someone mentions a "fool" in Jeuna.

Illithar doesn't really have clowns. We have comics, jugglers, magicians, but not clowns. We don't have mimes either. Mimes are evil.

The clowns are Bumblebees, and make a hefty paycheck each week.

Interesting fact-
Among the top 10 highest paying jobs, Bumblebee Clowns are #4 on the list and have some of the most expensive properties.

Clowns have never been too prevalent in Greater Rhodes, however throughout the 18th, 19th, and very early 20th centuries children have been very fond of other entertainers such as acrobats, jugglers, and mimes. In general however these forms of entertainment have gone the way of the dodo, except for the occasional acrobat or mime.
