Considering how long a war was, how many people died, how it was waged, and all other factors, what would you consider your country's most "brutal" war?

For the us there are two choices the Second Anglo-Scottish war which lasted for about 6 years and ended with nearly all of the Scottish nobility being killed along with thousands of civilians, and the Third Welsh Rebellion which lasted for four years and lead to nearly all of the Welsh population being enslaved and sold to other countries.

As of today, however, most of Beddgelert's wars have been surprisingly limited in scope, though not always in ferocity.

The May Revolution of 1982, being the culminating phase of a long and bitter civil war fought along ideological and religious lines pitting Druidic, Atheist, Buddhist, and Hindu Socialists against Christian Monarchists, witnessed numerous acts of cruelty on both sides, with prisoners often being poorly treated and religious communities displaced or exterminated, but the conflict featured long periods of relative calm in numerous regions throughout the continent, and there are no reliable figures on the final death toll.

The recent Battle of the Baltic Approach was a short-lived skirmish between naval expeditionary forces from Beddgelert and Kelewann in which the latter's attempt to prop-up a Fascist junta in the Baltic Isles off Bengera came unstuck and concluded with more than half a million personnel being taken prisoner. The encounter itself was brief and casualties moderate (extremely low on the Beddgelen side), but a large portion -perhaps all- of the half-million captured personnel were later put to death in ritualistic fashion, many being burned alive in wicker-men during solstice celebrations in Beddgelert while others were reportedly beheaded.

Prior to these modern conflicts the period of Christian European colonial incursion in Geletia saw countless massacres, mutinies, riots, and protracted guerrilla warfare prosecuted by Indo-Aryan and Dravidian rebels, and a number of pitched battles in which Geletian highlanders armed with broadswords and falxs repeatedly charged ranks of British, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish and other musketeers, usually falling en masse and occassionally breaking enemy lines and laying waste to whole armies in close-quarter fighting. Once again there are no complete records of casualties caused by these incidents or the famine and disease associated with population displacements and land reforms enforced by victorious colonial authorities.

The Long War. In our calendar, 0-2103 AS. By the 'normal' calendar, 100 BC-2003 AD. It was a religious total war/genocide against the Cult of the Vile Lard- hundreds of generations of Marshites were completely devoted to the making of war. Both peoples bred and killed prodigiously, leaving tens of billions dead over the course of the conflict.
No prisoners were taken at any time, making each battle decisive in its own right. Eventually, both sides stopped surrendering. Civilians of the opposing faith were open game- when an area was captured, the primary goal that followed was the complete extermination of the members of the opposing faith. The war was long, bitter, total, and genocidal in nature.

Nope, those wars took place between 979-985 and 988-992. Our conquest of Ireland however was much less bloody.

Yet more reasons to regard yours as a sub-human people.

Romandeos has an exceptionally bloody history, having spent a large period divided in to literally hundreds of little states, some of which had very bloody existences. In one case, a small kingdom went through a dozen rulers in as many minutes, or so the story tells it.

Perhaps the single most noteworthy brutal conflict would be the Grand Unification, led by Queen Zelda the Peasant, whose pension for an incredibly bloody and cruel handling of enemies was legendary, when she chose to make it so. She was a very strange lady, by all accounts.

For instance, in one case she responded to a Catholic Church-sponsored assassination plot by ordering the entire Church population in the responsible city put to the sword...only to call her men-at-arms back at the last minute, sparing a hundred or so nuns, monks and so forth in a warehouse who she felt were too low ranking to have held any part in the assassination plot.

Brother Bernhard, one of the monks, went on to become Zelda's personal chronicler, giving us most of the records we have of her today. The massacre he survived is just one among many instances of mass bloodshed he recorded.

Her cruelties and strange behaviors defy collective mention here, as they are too many and we certainly know only a portion, but suffice it to say in her time she was a very barbaric woman, when she had to be.

The First and Second battles of Banzai
This conflict lasted mere hours, yet, caused the deaths of over three thousand Nubian and Boer sailors alike. There was no real cause to this battle, besides the barbaric Troglodyte empire of Fulma attempting to annex territory belonging to the people of the Nubian and Boer peoples. This warrents one of the most brutal battles in the dotted history of the Orange Free State because of the sheer amount of starships lost.

Operation: Varsity
This three month battle took the lives of over eight hundred thousand Mobile Infantry soldiers as they fought to eradicate the Malaklan threat from the planet and the galaxy. This conflict has been recorded as the bloodiest conflict in Nubian-Boer history. The battle ended with the tactical retreat of all Mobile Infantry on the planet and the "Unofficial" destruction of the Malaklan alien homeworld by the Arullan aliens.

[The Anglo-Saxon Empire]

Going into more depth in the Second Anglo-Scottish war, the Second Anglo-Scottish war was actually started by the Scots, and while various battles raged on for over 15 years the war did not become a major conflict until 979 when a major Anglo-Saxon army invaded southern Scotland. After achieving major victories about a year after launching their invasion the Anglo-Saxon armies were halted by a large Scottish army known as the Great Highland army under the command of King James of Scotland.

After several bloody battles against the Great Highland army and tens of thousands of Anglo-Saxon soldiers being killed King Edward II of England personally lead an army made up foot soldiers, archers, and cavalry (the latter two were mostly made up of Welsh mercenaries) into Scotland and near Inverness lead his force of 9,500 soldiers against the Great Highland army numbering 12,700 soldiers. After killing large numbers of Scottish soldiers with his longbow men the spear men held the line long enough for King Edward and his cavalry force (the Great Highland army had virtually no cavalry) to get behind the Scottish army and attack them from the rear. The cavalry charge routed the Scottish army and killed King James. Unfortunately King Edward was killed by some fleeing Scottish soldiers, but in the end nearly the entire Great Highland army was destroyed with under 300 Scottish soldiers escaping. In order to subjugate the Scottish country side once and for all the Anglo-Saxon army butchered thousands of Scottish civilians and actively hunted down the Scottish nobility.

I actually based this off of a war I had in a modded version of Medieval 2 Total war.

[Bears Armed]

The 'Wulfen Wars', which ran approximately (and intermittently) from 1250 to 1485AD. Our people and their allies were attacked by genocidal hordes of 'Wulfen', who were Chaos-tainted anthropomorphic wolves. Neither side offered, nor sought, quarter. Total casualties were undoubtedly high, on both sides, although we don't have accurate records for the numbers involved. As far as anybody knows, the war ended simply because the last of the Wulfen had been exterminated.

The Second American Civil War. Which led to the collapse of the United States of America, which at that time covered all of North America and a small amount of South America, and gave rise to The Republic of United Former America, The Kingdom of Virginia, The New Alaskan Principality, and The Baja Republic.

While the HLA insurgency is a bloody fight indeed, the most BRUTAL war in Saurisia's history is not even a war at all, it is a Revolution. The Great Revolution of 2594 was launched on June 6th of that year to overthrow Dictator Leonard Damon's tyrannical rule over Saurisia. To do that 20,000 Dinosaurs and 15,000 Humans took up arms and marched upon Saurus City, where they were joined by members of the Armed Forces, Militias, local Police Force, and more armed citizens dedicated to ending Damon's iron grip over the country. Unfortunately, several Militias and various paramilitary and military units still loyal to the Dictator put up a serious fight, causing a horrific urban battle to commence in the massive megalopolis that is the capital.

Eventually, a large force of 10,000 Dinosaurs and 5000 Humans stormed the Presidential Mansion after 5 days of urban hell, where they met fearsome resistance from Leonard's most dedicated and loyal warriors, the Presidential Guard. In a sheer twist of irony for Saurisia's history, Leonard's most loyal and fanatical followers were Humans, despite the nation's history of anti-Human racism. The Revolutionaries had to fight 9200 Presidential Guard and Loyalist Human troops as they fought their way through the Mansion. The battle cries of "Dinosaurier!", "Fur der Fuhrer!", "Revolutionäre!", "sterben Sie Verräter!", "Kick their asses back to the fatherland!", and "Tell the President I'm gonna kick his ass!" continued to haunt many veterans years after the battle ended.

Eventually, after 5 hours of brutal fighting, two of the leaders of the Revolution, Cera Farsely Smith and her mate Peter Smith, finally captured Leonard and, due to Cera having a romantic relationship with him in in the past, spared the former Dictator's life, much to the chagrin of the Revolutionaries, who wanted to have him executed.

All in all, it was the most brutal conflict in our history, the Revolutionaries suffered 11,000 casualties, and the Loyalists suffered 20,000 casualties, with 5000 civilians losing their lives.

The banshee war. It started with the spliceing of shee and grendel DNA, and ended up with the banshee all over attacking everything. It was ended when the prefection of the Warp projecter was given to the banshee alowing them to leave.

Beiguo has been fortunate to have only light conflicts to participate in thus far, and we have suffered but little.

I would say the most brutal conflict in which we have been involved would be the Archer Rebellion, in which Alfred Archer, a man who made a living in the distilling of whiskey, became enraged at the intentions of the then republican government to levy new taxes on whiskey.

Mr. Archer's efforts to petition the Senate were rebuffed several times before he, with his sons, several of his daughters and several friends raised up in arms and raided the local Sheriff's Office where the money collected to date was being stored, stealing it and killing at least five men in government employ, running off with several weapons.

Mr. Archer, now wanted on several counts, fled in to the inland mountains, pursued by local militia and Army forces. He remained there and kept up his fight for ten years, leading a band believed to at times be as large as three hundred strong, including women, children and babes despite a harsh environment. He was finally killed in a skirmish with Army Rangers.

In all, the conflict claimed one hundred and seven lives.

The civil war would be the most bloody as it were the largest war the absolute royal federation have been involved in so far due to the massive forces raised by both sides and the fight went on for year over muddy trenches for year after year without any clear winner until the royalists managed to encircle and crush almost half of the red army at the siege of Granborg but the price were also extremely costly for the royalists.

In recent times, it is the African Bush War, which was a guerrilla war that involved huge amounts of Colmarkian soldiers (560,000 at its peak) which lasted from 1965-1980. The war involved pretty horrific acts on both sides, the Colmarkian soldiers accused of shooting prisoners and using torture, our native allies murdering entire enemy villages, and the Communists wiping out everything that moved, occasionally using chemical weapons. 220,000 Colmarkian troops died and 600,000 were wounded, 700,000 of our native allies also fell, compared to 2.4 million Communists and 7 million civilians. That was a seriously brutal war, summed up by this poem

Also, the war was ended by moving the entire civilian population into fortified towns, with nightly curfews, and then destroying pretty much everything not in the protected zone, e.g we placed many farms within the fortifications, more than enough to feed the populace and sell on enough to create businesses, and then bombing the living hell out of the rest of the country. This starved the Commies out within a year.

It would have to be the Revolution of 1990 with the Overthrow of the Dictator Guillermo Farsante, after decades of brutal and repressive rule through death squads, the army, assassinations, and indiscriminate bombings about 20,000 armed citizens, 5,000 defecting soldiers, 6,000 guerrilla fighters, and 8,000 international volunteers assaulted the Capital where the Dictator resided. It was a brutal street brawl where bombs, artillery and weapons were used indiscriminately by the Dictators forces. Finally after 4 days of brutal city fighting the Dictators palace was stormed where the elite Guard awaited them. 3000 strong but veterans of years of fighting insurgencies, ultimately they were defeated. The Dictator was ultimately found, but adding insult to the Revolutionary forces, he had committed suicide rather than being captured.

The Dictator was beaten but at a cost. Only 30% of the total forces remained and tbe Revolutionary Hero's Francisco Pascual (Guerrilla Leader and poet) and Mary Archer(Leader of the International fighters) had been killed in the fight against the Guard. The civilian loss was estimated between 5,000 and 15,000. Many across the nation remember their valiant fight, Our nation's consciousness reflects this event, equality is demanded not by law but by society, being compared to the Dictator in any way is the gravest insult imaginable frequently resulting in fights, and our nation's army named its battalions after them and anyone who showed courage during that time.

The Succession war or 1980-2001 left 1.2 million Iyndolen's dead and almost four million homeless.

The Cybertronian Civil War.

Fought over many centuries, it killed about 125,000 members of each side. That may not seem like much until after considering that Cybertron is a relatively small planet and its inhabitants are pretty huge - the death toll was actually almost all of the planet's population.

The war went on until there were only 6 Decepticons left...

And no Autobots.

Fortunately, thanks to our still-standing high-speed factories, we were able to repopulate the planet in just a few years.

When we invaded Earth, we deleted billions of humans. However, since the overall percentage of the population that got deactivated is lower, we don't consider it our most brutal war. That, and the fact that the casualties mostly happened to The Other Guys, making them not count.

The Baal crusade of 1913

In 1913 to 1919, A cult uprising happen during a time of weakness for the empire. After emperor lanz's weak reign, Lanz's son Zach the 1st took the throne. The cult of Baal, worshippers of the demon dragon who was slay by the first emperor samson, laying low for almost 900 years till 1913. in the small town of steelburg, The cult took over the goverment there and started to spread its lies all over southren orcoa. in a year it would look like civil war but Emperor Zach the 1st took quick action and called for a crusade agaisnt the Baal worshippers. As head of the Orcoan Chruch he had the leadership to call this great call of arms. The Imperial Army was sent to fight the cultists holdings, The newly formed Imperial Air Force was sent to crush them by air, even the Reiksguard left the captial to lead the forces of orcoa in this holy crusade. After six bloodly years of combat, The leader of the cult was slay on the steps of high Baal temple in the iron mountians by KnightLord Guts aka The black swordman by cutting the leader's head off.

The cost of the crusade was over 50 million orcoan died and almost 2 billion credits worth of damage was done to cites of southern orcoa. In the end the empire lived and the people had new found faith in the emperor and god

[Edwardsreal]

Edwardsreal went to war during the late Cold War against a well-organized group of rebel militants in the "Yasrael Crescent", an unoccupied fertile but constantly fought over farming land on the mainland consisting of some forests and a dominating crescent-like valley with high mountains aligned with the large Yasrael Plains, which bordered some other nations. A full-offensive was launched in 1982, expected to be quick and fast by most Edsrealian commanders, against the militants which would be followed with what turned to be a seven-year long guerrilla war known as "The War of the Rains" which proved to be Edwardsreal's most hard fought, heroic and tragic conflict, along as the most influential war in Edsrealian History to date. The militants executed their fierce hit-and-run strategies in the forests and mountains of the Crescent which soon prompted the Edsrelian Defense Force to go forward with devastating shock and awe operations. Executed by the Air Force and Navy, over an estimated 278 jets and bombers where put to operation in tactical air strikes and bombings in missions such as "Operation Silver Tooth" and "Operation Red Horn", which claimed the lives of both rebel militants and innocent civilians together during the war. Eventually the morale, followers and resources of the rebel militants soon began to wither away and thus the Edsrealian commanders soon planned one last push which would wipe out the militia once and for all. However, the weary and exhausted citizens of the Republic soon took sides and rioted against the plan. A cease-fire was soon ordered by President Jules Carpian, thus the last remnants of the militants soon dissolved into the ranks of other nations. The War of the Rains soon inspired the military to order "Military Order 132" in 1990 which included the making of new anti-guerrilla war strategies and deeper understanding of environment and terrain before the EDF again, goes to war against the forces of guerrillas in the future.
