Aurne is a realistic, historical fiction setting in a unique, non-Earth world, in a period that is similar to the French Revolutionary Wars and Coalition Wars. Aurne is a collaborative effort from over a dozen veteran roleplayers to bring a more active, grounded and realistic approach to early 1800s writing and worldbuilding to NS. Unlike many other RP communities on NationStates, Aurne is not a private community and does not require an application to join. Aurne is always recruiting and always accepting new members, with our main goal to integrate feasible ideas into the world lore and historical narrative.
Land Claiming Rules
Founding a nation in Aurne and participating in the roleplay is as simple as writing a founding post and making a map claim for a vacant area of your choosing on the map. New members should firstly consult the various FBs regarding historical contexts and world lore, and then write a quality, narrative-style post of their choosing. Posts can vary from character-focused to national actions and machiavellian shenanigans, all the way to simple posts about civilians and soldiers in your society. The flavor and style of your founding is entirely up to you, though it should ideally contain a good idea of what your country is.
Establishment:
New members should consider the area in which they want to establish themselves first, considering the climate and history of each continent, as well as cultural and religious themes that may suit them to some places better than others. Historical interactions with neighbors should also be considered. Founding is easy: You merely need to submit an image of your land claim following your first RMB RP post, taking in consideration a few guidelines:
- Claims should be reasonable in scope, not taking excessive amounts of land, or taking claimed land that would otherwise look in poor taste and detrimental to appearance, i.e. dozens of small settlements or unrealistic territories across the whole world.
- The size of your claim is your beginning national area, notwithstanding in-narrative expansions and occupations through war, purchases and other means. Initial claims should be made in consideration of what your nation should be, and take in account that many different countries took part in the real-life Coalition Wars, and varied in sizes and population tremendously.
- Map updates are done as often as the changing world permits them, but done as regularly as once per week pending activity.
- Puppets are permitted but must be declared or it is a bannable offense.
Land Exchanges
There are various times in the RP in which land may change hands. These can be from recent colonial developments, national integrations of neighboring NPC states through RP, or even wars of conquest and occupation against other player nations. Whether by sword or pen, all posts, or any post that interacts with another player’s lore in a significant way that involves their nation, must follow Aurne’s RP Consent Clause.
- All parties involved in an RP post must agree with the events of the RP beforehand, and consent to all in-character actions and outcomes of the posts.
- All players/nations involved in a post or series of posts must be consulted with. Secret alliances and military cooperation in order to attack a nation is not permitted if out-of-character agreement and knowledge was not given. While this does not mean that in-universe a nation would know about this, no actions should come as a surprise to the author of the nation.
- Occupying or annexing land from another player’s nation, regardless of how, is still considered an expansion and must follow land exchanges and be requested for on the map thread.
- Players may not assist themselves with their own puppet in a war, as this is a conflict of interest and unbalances the interactive element of the RP.
