Beadle Leonardo's Quest to Find and Rescue his Brother

ARCESIUS — When Beadle Leonardo woke one sunny morning in 1970, he was already pretty much certain that his missing brother is alive, somehow. Alive, despite the fact that his brother have both been missing for seven days and seven nights.

Prompted by one of Beadle's superstitions and the later negative identification of a dead man who was once claimed to be his brother, Beadle formed a search party that soon expanded to cover the region around a certain set of footprints. Along the way, they came to the site of an old dam — the St. Elmo's Deluge — which had been partially built on the site of the present day Dead Man's Gulch.

There they found the skeleton of a man, but not his clothes, shoes or mouth. The similarities between the man's clothes and the ones his brother wore were so uncanny that Beadle felt compelled to conduct a deeper examination of the former's clothes and shoes. The skeleton did not belong to his brother, Beadle thought.

Five days later, Beadle and his party left the Dead Man's Gulch and traveled through the Nim Corridor, passing the bridges over the Romver and Problematic Rivers. They traveled under the bright lights of the nearest city and through the underpasses of the Ilailyaxri, surrounded by quiet while hoping that the vastness of the area wouldn't intrude...

After two years of debate, amendments and changes, the first Act of Parliament has been passed in 2020. The Consumer Technology Protection Act is designed to ensure that consumer data and personal information is not accessed by overseas governments or non-government agencies in other countries. The Act was inspired by an admission from Peak Computing and SkyDrive Inc to the Consumer Protection Agency in 2016, stating that they had both been approached and pressured by the United States' National Security Agency to provide user data from both United States citizens living in the US and Drongonia.

The Act states that "...no company, sole tradership, incorporation or other form of corporation shall share any form of user data with a foreign government agency or non-government organisation." In practical terms, this means that any company is unable to provide data to any agency outside of Drongonia. The Act applies to both Drongonian citizens and citizens of other nations who have Drongonian citizenship and are living in Drongonia.

Figures released to FUX News under the Official Information Act suggest that the Drongonian Security Services Bureau was aware of 56 cases in 2019 in which Drongonian technology or consumer-related companies were sent requests by foreign governments to release information of Drongonian citizens.

On the streets of Dunedin last night, the violent fascist group known as the Sons of H (in reference to Adolf Hitler) reigned supreme as police stood nearly powerless to prevent the group attacking a small gathering of Pakistani migrants, who the group suspected were child predators. The migrants' cases were before the courts, and no public information had been released and the men were presumed innocent until proven guilty in Drongonian law. However, that didn't stop the Sons of H from brutally murdering them in front of their families and horrified members of the public.

The five men, all aged in their twenties, leave behind wives and children, as well as a grief-stricken extended family who have no answers from a government who doesn't know what to say. The men also leave behind an impactful message; Being that the Drongonian Police don't consider Neo-Nazis a threat to society, and don't value the lives of those born outside of this nation's borders. Information obtained by DNN under the Official Information Act suggests that Police and the DSSB (Drongonian Security Services Bureau - Drongonia's digital surveillance agency) were aware of the group and had been monitoring limited amounts of communication among its members, but had decided that the group wasn't a serious threat.

A report authored by the DSSB, though largely redacted due to "national security concerns", recommended police to continue monitoring The Sons of H if they believed there to be any further criminal activity taking place, but that the group's motives and beliefs didn't warrant direct action due to them being described in the report as "...an ideological organisation which we have no grounds to interfere with." More damning than this is the suggestion that the DSSB had informed police of informal plans among the group's members to attack or potentially murder these exact individuals following their exit from court, but the police called these concerns "unsubstantiated and not actionable."

Why was their ideology, chatter and online behaviour largely ignored by police? The answer may be simpler than one expects, with the Drongonian Police's "List of Terror-Related Ideologies and Groups" not listing any far-right extremist cells such as this one, or even broadly defining the possibility of terror events being perpetrated by individuals who hold similar beliefs to theirs. This leads the public to rightly believe that the police don't consider far-right extremists to be terrorists on the same level as the perpetrators of "Radical Communist", "Jihadist", or "Extremist Zionist" violence, to name a few.

As for the murderers themselves, the men seem to have slipped away from the authorities for now, with the group only being identified by police as the perpetrators due to their distinctive Neo-Nazi imagery which was seen on their hoodies via the CCTV footage captured. Police are currently appealing to the public for any information about the killings, which says a lot about their investigative power in this situation.

Mohammed Sajid, Abdul Qayyum, Adil Khan, Hamid Safi and Kabeer Hassan may have been guilty, but that wasn't for the Sons of H to decide. Those men were being given due process by the courts, but insufficient protections from the Ministry of Justice. All five of the men had applied for interim and extended name suppression for the duration of the trial, which was denied. If their request had been granted, it is very likely they would have been able to return home to their families tonight. Dunedin District Court Judge Hank Fischer cited in his consideration that "Due to the nature of the men's alledged crimes and the near household knowledge of the men's identities, public interest in the case is likely to be substantial. However, there have been no demonstrable threats to the safety of these men, therefore I believe it is sufficiently safe to decline their combined requests for both interim name suppression and extended name suppression."

What's perhaps even more concerning is the amount of public support for the killing of the men on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Posts range from support for the Neo-Nazi group to the racist condemnation of all Pakistanis in Drongonia as paedophiles. All of the posts we found were reported to the Drongonian Police's Cybercrime Division, only for us to be told that the posts had no actionable content (yes - even the one calling on "Pakis" to die) and that the posts fell under freedom of expression laws, meaning they would not be subject to further investigation by the authorities.

DNN attempted to get into contact with the Dunedin District Area Commander for the Drongonian Police, Eric Hill. His office denied our request for a statement without an explanation, and subsequent attempts at content were met with a warning to stop repeated contact, or risk facing Obstruction of Justice charges.

Are the Drongonian Police covering for alleged Neo-Nazi murderers, or at least letting them operate with impunity? Only time will tell, but for now the evidence seems to point towards yes.

On the 1st of May 1072917, the Emperor of Greater Cosmicium, Mortheus Valixor was suddenly killed after a supernova explosion destroyed one planet and the computing systems on it, and knocked out all the others. He, and the Imperial Senate, hesitated to put a heir in case the Emperor died, because the Imperial Senate and almost everyone in Greater Cosmicium had put a lot of trust into Mortheus Valixor's enduring longevity and were confident in it lasting eternally. Valixor's death was a huge blow to the supposed eternal power of the Emperor, showing the forces of nature can still kill a seemingly immortal person.

In the absence of the Emperor or a valid heir, Kasren Vereyn, the Head of the Imperial Senate, became the Temporary Emperor of Greater Cosmicium. To hold together the post-Valixor empire, he is expected to hold an election for a new Emperor and Imperial Senate within six months. Based on preliminary reports, the new Emperor will be democratically elected and will only be able to rule for a single 10 year term.

Most of the high command and the government have refused to recognize Vereyn's rule however and instead have formed into four factions, the Human Faction, headed by the Fleet Marshal of Greater Cosmicium, Lucifer, the Khaazai Faction, headed by the High Queen of the Khaazai, Gwella Fennisdoter, the Dragon Faction, headed by Vaergam, the Great Prince of the Dragons, and Xibra, the Nestmaster of the Nuironi. Kasren Vereyn, in spite of these factions, hopes the Empire can still have a proper Emperor, maybe even Mortheus Valixor back.

At 7:30 AM today, an 8.3 earthquake struck below the Residential District of Aplexiana City. Supreme Emperor of all the World and Aplexianan Empirical Autocratic Societal Dictatorship, Jaren Enkenar Holifeau Shengka, immediately dispatched a crew of slaves with orders to sift through the rubble and rescue any of Shengka's close friends. After toiling in the hot sun for 4 hours, slaves came across the body of Shengka's cousin, Harambena Jolliard Mitsagena Fengbelle. Doctors estimated that she had been dead for two hours, after a heavy sharp block of metal fell from the top of a nearby building and impaled her through the chest. Apparently, she could have been saved, had the slaves found her sooner. Emperor Shengka didn't take this news well, however. He ordered the execution of the slaves and then killed a few more people.

Police have been mobilized in a region-wide manhunt for political dissenter Gerhander Farshenah Ofrenbae, who disappeared from his cell on Friday. Emperor Shengka has called for "drastic steps" in pursuit of this "dangerous criminal". Residents off the coast of Gilroy Bay were on high alert today a suspicious aircraft was spotted performing what appeared to be fly-by surveillance and reconnaissance of the area. Residents reported seeing the aircraft perform multiple lengths of the beachside area, flying increasingly low with each pass over. Within minutes, the Drongonian Air Force had deployed four of its newly-acquired F-35A combat aircraft to escort the unknown aircraft away from Drongonian airspace.

The DDF soon found out that the aircraft were of Chinese origin, and attempted to warn them to exit Drongonian airspace. In response, the surveillance aircraft, now identified as a Chinese-built Xian H-6B, banked right and ignored the warnings. It is reported by the Drongonian Air Force that after their four aircraft formed a tight formation around the H-6B, it responded to the repeated warnings and its crew agreed to exit Drongonian airspace.

China said the flight was a "necessary action" under "the current security situation in and around the South Pacific region." reports the South China Morning Post. However, Prime Minister Bill English released a statement today condemning China as "a state gone rogue" and calling the surveillance "a grave threat to Drongonia's national sovereignty". Ministry of Defence protocol suggests that the Chinese aircraft may have been a single warning away from being shot down, and that the incident registers as a "Category 1-A Breach of National Airspace", the most urgent such category of airspace breach.

Drongonia's official response has been to request the immediate departure of all Chinese diplomatic staff, and recall all Drongonian diplomats remaining in China to Drongonia immediately. It is understood that only a limited amount of diplomatic staff remained in China due to the recent coronavirus outbreak.

The Xian H-6 is a licence-built version of the Soviet Tupolev Tu-16 twin-engine jet bomber, first built for China's People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) in the 1950s and first flown in 1959. The H-6B is an aerial reconnaissance variant often used to carry and deploy combat or surveillance drones, flown over enemy territory.

According to a public statement made from the Ministry of Defense, the American aircraft that were shot down today were a pair of B-3A stealth bombers from the US Air Force. While much of the detail of the interception and shooting down of the bombers remain classified, the MoD stated that the situation happened earlier today and involved both the B-3A stealth bombers from the US Air Force and a pair of hyper-advanced Jian-28-3-0 gen. 5++ stealth fighters from the Zhouranese People's Army Air Force. While the MoD did not state which precise location the situation took place in, they did say that it took place somewhere between the northeast of Hawaii and southeast of the Zhouranese overseas territories located in the northeastern Pacific. The shootdown started when the two B-3A bombers took off from Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii and were heading in an easterly direction that was calculated to be facing towards Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Missouri in the continental United States. While the bombers were leaving Hawaiian airspace via the northeastern corner, long-range early-warning anti-stealth quantum radars from the ZPA Air Force and ZPA Navy in the various Zhouranese overseas territories in the northeastern Pacific detected the movement of the bombers thus leading to the deployment of two ZPAAF Jian-28-3-0 stealth fighters in order to intercept the bombers and shoot them down if they failed to comply to the no-fly blockade. Closing in on the two bombers, the two stealth fighters ordered the American aircraft to return to Hawaii in compliance with the no-fly blockade, however one of the bomber pilots replied that they were simply "exercising freedom of travel". When the bombers failed to comply numerous times, the two stealth fighters were then given orders to shoot them down as per protocol on American aircraft failing to comply to the no-fly blockade. As each of the stealth fighters fired a single WVRAAM each towards the B-3As, each of the bombers tried to evade but were quickly shot down. According to the MoD, a combat naval group from the ZPA Navy was already deployed to the site where the bombers were shot down in order to salvage the wreckage, and online there are already various images surfacing that shows ZPA Navy personnel taking pictures of the wreckage of the bombers with one image in particular showing a navy personnel holding a sign in English that said "Oops! Were they supposed to be invisible, Uncle Sam? We didn't know they were stealthy. Greetings from Zhouran btw." becoming a viral meme among Zhouranese netizens. The MoD made a final statement in which the ZPA will continue to intercept and shoot down American military aircraft that fails to comply with the no-fly blockade. Ever since The Kangmukeli and the political-hardline establishment took power in 2027, heavy economic sanctions and military blockade was imposed on the United States, further weakening the isolationist pariah state following the massive economic crisis that plagued the western world in the 2020s due to decades of unrestrained neoliberal economics, free-market decay, and trickle-down corporate-centric policies that only benefit the upper-class and not the ordinary folks of the western world. This doesn't make it any better for the United States as the banana republic is facing extreme turmoil with the far-left including people-of-color versus the far-right evangelical white institutions-of-power facing off in extreme violence, thus further weakening the US from the inside. Following the shooting-down of the two B-3A stealth bombers, the US State Department released a statement saying that the bombers "had every right to travel back home" and that the bombers were for "peaceful defensive purposes", however the Ministry of External Affairs stated that the only peaceful purposes those bombers had were "bombing innocent people-of-color abroad for the exploitation of resources to fuel the neo-colonial imperial war-machine" and that the US "should pay for the body bags of their fallen pilots" instead of Zhouran as it is "America's fault for failing to comply with basic rules and commone sense". The shooting-down of the two B-3A stealth bombers is part of a complete series in the shooting down of US military aircraft that breach the no-fly blockade. For the start of this year, those two bombers have been the fourth and fifth US military aircraft shot down this year. The two ZPAAF fighter pilots who shot down the two B-3As were Major Kaitalong Gongniu, a 14-scoring ace pilot who served multiple tours-of-duty in the Middle East & Northern Africa, and Senior Lieutenant Xilun Tanrongxi, a 9-scoring ace pilot who served a couple tours-of-duty in Southeast Asia. Senior Marshal Kang Makesi, current Chairman of the People's Defense Council since 2027, congratulated the two fighter pilots online for "enforcing the no-fly blockade with no excuse" and that the pilots of the two B-3A stealth bombers "could of came back home peacefully by boat rather than by coffin". The deployment of highly-experienced battle-hardened ace-level pilots for the enforcing of the no-fly blockade isn't shocking as Zhouran has created a massive list of numerous supersonic fighter-jet ace pilots that still continues to this day. Right-wing "People's Front" party polls in parliament for the first time

With the 2020 General Election looming ever-closer, pollsters and political jockeys are gearing up for a busy year of opinion polling, editorials, analysis, and most exciting of all, surprises.

It's fair to say that Drongonia's political circles - both left and right, got their first surprise of the year today as the newest party on the electoral roll, right-wing ultra-nationalist People's Front polled at 4% and seemed to have one local electorate poll in the bag already, according to the latest FUX News political support poll. The poll is widely considered among the political community to be robust and reliable, as well as politically unbiased.

The poll results showed that National is maintaining their majority, with a pip over 50% of the total votes, and Labour is trailing behind on 33% support. With both Conservative and Green sitting on 6 and 5 percent respectively, this is usually the part where we tell you about the Libertarian party's result, but not today. People's Front has surpassed the Libertarian Movement as the fourth largest party in this latest poll with a total of 4% of the vote. What is more substantial than this, however, is the fact that the party has won our mini-poll for the English Island electorate of Southdon, officially giving it a presence in parliament and vitally taking a seat from the Conservative Party.

This is especially surprising for a few reasons. The first of those being that the party is just two months old, being formed in mid-December 2019, and somehow persuading a significant percentage of the population to support them, as far as a minority party is concerned. The second reason is that the seat they've stolen is the both Conservative Party's very first seat, and the seat of their leader Eric Knight. The party has held the seat ever since it was formed, and it represents a potential decline for the Conservative Party, as People's Front have polled second place in every single other seat the Conservatives hold, as well as a select few National seats.

This also represents a potential shakeup for the right-wing establishment in Drongonia. Until now, National has widely been expected to win the 2020 General Election with an absolute majority, potentially partnering with either the Conservative or Libertarian parties (or both) for confidence-and-supply votes. However, if People's Front gains more traction it is very likely they will start to chip away at National's traditional support base, giving themselves a potential path to power in a right-wing coalition government.

University of Christchurch carrying out clinical trials of "2019-nCoV Coronavirus cure"

With eight confirmed cases of coronavirus in Drongonia, and 30 other individuals being monitored by the Ministry of Health, Drongonia is just one of the many countries in the world attempting to work towards a cure for the latest 2019-nCoV coronavirus strain.

Medical researchers at the University of Christchurch have been working to combine multiple existing medications in a bid to combat the virus. The researchers combined the anti-flu drug oseltamivir with lopinavir and ritonavir, which are anti-virals traditionally used to treat HIV. The university released a short statement saying that their first human trials had proved relatively successful, with three individuals returning negative test results within 48 hours of treatment.

The university has affirmed that while it is extremely pleased with the so far promising results, full-scale public usage of the treatment methods could be months away, with the researchers wanting to synthesise a new medication based on the ones currently being tested, rather than administering them separately as is currently required.

It was also announced yesterday that the Ministry of Health has granted an initial $10,000,000 in funding to contribute to the research. Multiple other nations are reportedly interested in the ongoing research as the virus spreads worldwide. Interested parties include New Zealand, Norcott, Cancolastan, China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Canada, France, Germany and Thailand, where doctors have been conducting very similar research with comparable results.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Gilroy released a statement today affirming that China would not be allowed direct access to any potential medical breakthroughs, and would have to source any Drongonian-made medication from other countries who are allowed access. This statement comes as Drongonian-Chinese tensions have heightened over a Chinese Air Force spy plane which was almost shot down near Gilroy Bay earlier this week, resulting in the expulsion of Chinese diplomats from Drongonia.

The ministry did not rule out providing the medications to any other country - even North Korea may be eligible for the medication if they request it, according to current Medsafe laws which regulate the distribution of Drongonian-made medication. It is expected that the Ministry of Health will pick up the tab on transporting any potential medication to allied and friendly nations, and that the receiving parties will only be billed as a formality, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs looking to bolster foreign relations in the wake of the outbreak.

Mini-Study: Does the "White Drongonia" policy stack up?

Two of the "Big Five", or now more accurately "Big Six" political parties - those being National, Labour, Conservative, Green, Libertarian and People's Front - are now promising to endorse a controversial Bill drawn from the member's ballot which would reinstate the ban of any non-white immigrant. With People's Front and Conservative publicly campaigning on support for the Bill, we decided to crunch the numbers and attempt to gauge the public's attitude toward the policy.

The history of the policy dates back to the nation's founding in 1951, when the Immigration and Citizen Act 1951 was passed into law which made it illegal from citizens from the majority of the world's countries to become citizens, with the bulk of those countries being in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The Act was controversial at the time of its passing not only for its racist undertones, but due to the fact that it was passed directly after the Bill of Rights Act 1951, with some considering it in direct contravention to the equal rights set out in that Act.

Regardless of its controversial status back in 1951, the Act passed in parliament with a final vote of 99 in favour and 21 against. Successive governments, particularly throughout the 1980s and 1990s debated the merits of the policy and the possibility of removing it, until the Anna Nolan-led Labour was re-elected for its third term in 1995 and subsequent Acts of Parliament were passed to make racial discrimination illegal in immigration law, with the racial and heritage screening instead being replaced by English literacy and cultural compatibility assessments.

Public support for the set of Acts, subsequently dubbed the "White Drongonia Policy" remained strong throughout the 1960s and 1970s, closing out the decade of flared pants and disco balls with a whopping 85% public support. However, as internationalism became more integrated into the nation's policies, and diversity began to become more discussed throughout the 1980s and 1990s, public support for the policy steadily decreased year-on-year, with the policy beginning the new millennium with just 61% public support.

However, with the events of 9/11 fresh in the psyche of the general public, the 2001 FUX State of the Nation Survey recorded the first ever increase in public support for the policy, with 70% of those surveyed showing support for the policy, up 9% from the 61% recorded in 2000. Regardless, these attitudes softened and by 2010 support for the policy had continued its steady, but now slower, decline to a record-low of 59%.

So where are we now? In 2016, public support for the policy was a record-low 51%. However, public support for the policy has increased year-on-year at a rate of 1.2% per year since 2017, with 2020's "State of the Nation" survey showing 55% of people support the policy, which is the first increase since the 2001-2005 period. This is speculated to stem from the sharp rise in populist rhetoric worldwide since the election of President Donald Trump in the United States and the election of Prime Minister Bill English in 2016 on his conservative platform. Researchers are noting that not only are people's views changing to reflect the world around them, but their views are becoming more vocalised, with the rise of social media and widespread political activism on both sides of the spectrum more easily allowing people to share their views with the greater public platform.

All of this is one thing to read and public support is interesting to gague, but at the end of the day it will be the Members of Parliament voting for this Member's Bill, scheduled to be debated and submitted for amendments and voting shortly after this year's general election.

Prime Minister Bill English has previously stated regarding the Act that: "Expecting that I'm still the head of government post-election, I will motion that this Bill is voted on by conscience vote, so each Member of Parliament is free to represent both their constituents and their personal convictions without fear of reprisal from their party." FUX News Political Editor Sean Armstrong predicts that left to a conscience vote, the Bill would fail with the current makeup of parliament. However, if the Conservatives or People's Front manage to gain a substantial portion of support, the landscape could change and the Bill could go either way. However, Armstrong noted in his analysis that to gain support of more moderate National MPs, certain amendments may need to be added.

First Confirmed Coronavirus case in The Koranic Republic

IDBAN, KR. (ATV) -- An Idban resident has been isolated at home after becoming the first confirmed case of coronavirus in The Koranic Republic and the 9th in the middle east.

The Koranic Department of Health and Wellbeing said in a statement on Thursday that the patient is "doing well" for the time being.

The patient went straight from a local airport to the Wakaynah Hospital to be tested. From there, the patient was transported to their home in Idban, where they will stay until they no longer have coronavirus. The patient was never hospitalized.

At this time, health officials say there is no major threat to residents in Idban.

Health officials would not release the victim's identity, age, where they are living or where and when they traveled to Beijing, China, where the patient had been when the patient became exposed to the coronavirus. The patient had been visiting the Chinese capital city for the Chinese New Year.

The coronavirus outbreak has killed nearly 1500 people and infected more than 60,000 worldwide as of Thursday afternoon, according to the latest numbers.

RESPONSE FROM HEALTH OFFICIALS

Officials with the DHW, they City of Idban and the Koranic Government held a series of press conferences regarding the patient on Thursday.

“The risk of getting sick from 2019 novel coronavirus in the Koranic Republic is very low," Health Officer Aidah Abad said.

"We are responding aggressively to the situation and monitoring all developments. We are committed to keeping the public fully informed and will continue to provide updates as this situation unfolds," according to Abad.

Idban Health Medical Director of Infection Control Dr. Muhammad Safdar said the hospital is taking precautions:

"The things that we take into consideration are: Do they require hospitalization because they need that kind of care? Are they sick enough to require that? And the other big piece is, do they have the support and care at home - such that they could adequately self-isolate? And the answer, in this case, was that they did not have clinical symptoms that warranted hospitalization, and they had a support system at home that would include being able to self isolate properly."

Dr. Safdar added that Idban Health staff have been receiving ongoing training and have expanded the questions they ask about travel history. They are also coordinating with the DHW and local health authorities.

MONITORING POSSIBLE CASES

The University of Makkabayyah announced several weeks ago that it was monitoring six students for the possibility that they had the coronavirus. The students had just returned from a visit to Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the outbreak. However, the university has since finished monitoring the students, and they are reportedly healthy.

The university says during their trip, the the six students visited South Central University for Nationalities in Wuhan, China, during an academic break.

"There was increased attention on our university over the coronavirus outbreak. We followed – and will continue to follow – all Disease Control and DHW protocols," according to the university in a release on Tuesday.

The Koranic International Academy, located in the Idban suburbs, also announced last week that it was monitoring one student who had also returned from a trip to China. The student is also not a confirmed case.

The closest confirmed cases, outside the one in Idban on Thursday, are in Dubai, UAE. All other eight confirmed cornoavirus cases in the middle east are there.

WHAT TO DO TO KEEP YOURSELF SAFE

The Koranic Department of Health and Wellbeing provided a list of the symptoms and what to watch out for related to the virus, explaining that the symptoms include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, which may appear anywhere from two to 14 days after someone is exposed to the virus.

Symptoms range feeling a mild illness, like a common cold, to severe pneumonia that would put someone in the hospital.

The DHW recommends taking the same steps as they would for the cold or flu: cover your coughs and sneezes, wash hands frequently, and stay home when you’re sick.

In face of rapidly destabilizing world politics, the Department of Defence has announced that the military spending will be increased by about 30%. The money will be taken from the released overhead costs that stemmed from the spending integration carried out by the Federal Reserve.

The Department of Defence has announced that the increase in spending will be spent on the modernization of equipment, including a purchase of several new battleships, a fleet of F-35 fighter jets, and manufacturing equipment for newer rifles. The ship in question, MV Eagle of Pozorrubio, is a 108.2 meter long 3,903-tonne ocean-freighter built in South Korea, owned by Ocean Quest Sea Service Inc. of Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines since 2015 and registered in Tuvalu, a flag of convenience. The ship has a long suspicious history of sailing between the Philippines and San Francisco since 2023, avoiding to make even a singly entry into a Zhouranese port despite the massive distance between the Philippines and the west coast of the US. About 38.4 km east of Babuyan Island in the Luzon Strait, within international waters, MV Eagle of Pozorrubio was intercepted by two Zhouranese warships consisting of a Type 2001 Rongqiao-class guided-missile destroyer and a Type 2009 Ezuoju-class guided-missile frigate. Commandos from the Special Naval Operations Regiment subsequently boarded the ship fifteen minutes later, fast roping onto the deck from a ZPA Naval Aviation Zhi-13-3 multi-role utility helicopter and from climbing the side onto the deck from three rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs) with the freighter crew compliant. This led to the start of a half-hour firefight between the commandos and 32 Hong Kong gang-members. Amid increasing tensions with China and former ally Norcott, it seems as though the Drongonian Defence Force wanted to both let off some steam and let the world know it is indeed one tough customer. Politically, this exercise is very clearly aimed at China, which has been caught spying on both nations in the past, and has a particular affinity with attempting to interfere with the economy and political process of Drongonia. Wuhan Pneumonia Claims Lives in Nacrad, Infected Numbers Rise, Chaos Ensues

The Wuhan Pneumonia virus has demonstrated its infectability. As of midnight on 17 February, the infected number total 55, with 2 new cases yesterday. 2 were declared dead just before midnight on 17 February and at around 15:00 on Valentine's Day respectively.

The number of cases has been approaching that of Hong Kong's, a similarly fateful place, currently at 57 cases. There has been criticism that the Department of Health and Disease Control (HDC) has been doing too little, as pandemic specialist Dr. Albert G. Mann said that the disease has become a pandemic in Nacrad.

Panic buying has ensued across cities big and small. Items such as surgical masks, rice, pasta and canned goods have been in high demand, despite Government's advice that panic buying is completely unnecessary.

To combat this, the Government has announced an array of policies. It has stated that surgical masks will become a rationed good protected under the Commodity Stockpile Act and Rations Act starting from 20 February, with each person receiving 10 per week. Prime Minister Bill English was joined by members of the public, cabinet ministers and executives from all four major ISPs in Gilroy Bay today as he unveiled the Southern Hemisphere's fastest home internet connection, an eye-watering 10 gigabit per second fibre-optic connection installed by network giant FibreXT.

FibreXT, contracted by the government to complete the 10-gigabit rollout since 2015, have stated that by the end of this year they plan to have residents in select suburbs of Gilroy Bay, Christchurch, Nelson, Norcott Point, Dunedin, Lake Ellingham and Carterton connected to its national 10-gigabit network, allowing customers to have access to speeds up to 100x greater than the world average, and 5 times faster than the current average available speeds in Drongonia.

All major ISPs (Telecom, Vodafone, DrongoNet, Vuze and Orcon) are offering the 10-gigabit service to its customers on the back of the FibreXT network. CEO of Drongonian Telecom Hans Baxter, said in a statement today that his company believes "Drongonians are now on the absolute bleeding edge of the world's connected technologies." Vodafone CEO Christina Bayer was equally optimistic, stating that "From here on out, we will be harnessing the power to do anything and everything the online world has to offer - as well as enhancing our offline lives for the better."

Schools, hospitals, libraries and select large companies have been able to access 10 gigabit per second internet for some time now, with Christchurch Central High School receiving the nation's first 10-gigabit connection back in March of 2018.

The official roadmap released by FibreXT under an Official Information Act request shows that the current plan is for the entire country's existing fibre network to be 10-gigabit capable by the end of 2022 and for work to begin on what is being dubbed as "HyperFibre" by 2024. It has been speculated that HyperFibre could allow for speeds as high as 50 gigabits per second to be delivered to home and business users.

Pricing information from Telecom shows the 10-gigabit connection may cost as little as $149 per month for standard home users, and $139 for business users. Vodafone and DrongoNet are expected to update their pricing information later this week.

High Court Overrides Central Government Effort to Block One-Party Constitutional Referendum, Says Vote Must Be Held

In a rare disagreement with the Central Government, the 9-member People's High Court has issued a ruling in the case National Citizens' Civic Union v Ebbe, et al, in which the proponents of a controversial proposed referendum sued Supreme State Secretary Warren T. Ebbe after he used emergency powers to declare the proposal illegal. Under Gethforla's electoral system, citizens can place constitutional referenda on the ballot republic-wide if they can get approval from six of the eleven oblast-level governments, after which the Central Government must ensure that the referendum is placed on the ballot of the remaining oblast-level governments. The Supreme Assembly also has the power to place certain referenda of their own onto the ballot.

The National Citizens' Civic Union (NCCU) is a "political union" whose ideology is at best statist and big-tent, with no specific ideology beyond what they propose. (Only political parties may put forth candidates for office, but political unions can do anything other than put forth candidates, including campaigning for ballot measures and constitutional amendments.) The NCCU won approval from seven oblast-level governments to place a two-question referendum before the people. One would reconstitute Gethforla as a one-party state; the other question would permit voters to choose the new sole legal party from a list of 9 organisations: the 4 legal political parties, 4 proscribed parties, and the NCCU.

Supreme State Secretary Ebbe said his government could not allow the referendum to move forward because it would be unethical to declare a one-party state and that it would "unlawful and criminal for my Cabinet to oversee an initiative that could place known terrorist groups into positions of power." The People's High Court rejected this argument, ruling that "the qualified electors of this republic reserve the right to choose their own form of government. If they decide they prefer a form of government that this court personally finds objectionable, that is their right. It is undemocratic to deny Gethforlans the right to select their leaders. This Court overturns Mr. Ebbe's ban on the referendum and orders that an election be held to vote on this matter."

New act allows Drongonian vessels to kill Somali pirates

An unusual Bill has passed through parliament today, marking the first offiical government recognition of the struggle Drongonian ships have with international piracy. The Bill, soon to become an Act - is titled the High Seas Piracy Protection Act 2020.

The Act allows for shipping companies who are registered in Drongonia and paying Drongonian corporate taxes to hire private military contractors to protect the crew and cargo of their ships, both in Drongonian waters where piracy is non-existant, and international stretches of water where a day ceases to go by without a piracy incident.

Provided that the shipping company, the private security contractor, and the ship itself are all registered in Drongonia and are paying all of the pursuant taxes and fees, private security contractors may injure and even end the lives of any pirates attempting to attack or board their ship in both Drongonian and international waters. Furthermore, the Drongonian government will shield all parties involved from international prosecution if sufficient evidence of attempted piracy is provided.

The Act also outlines a new Drongonian Navy requirement to ensure that each and every merchant or cargo ship is granted safe passage into Drongonia as long as they are following the letter of the law. In practical terms, this means that the navy is now required to act as border security at the designated entry points for when vessels enter Drongonian waters.

It is estimated that piracy costs shipping companies up to $10 billion worldwide yearly, and Drongonian shipping companies may be forking out as much as $750 million of that amount according to the Marine Association of Drongonia. Somali piracy is a particularly tough issue for Drongonian shipping companies as Drongonia remains one of the largest trade partners of both Southwest Africa and Dhudesia, which are trade routes notorious for attempted and successful ship hijackings.

The ruling is also expected to bring both more international shipping companies and private security firms to Drongonia, which is likely to have a positive effect on both tax revenue for the government as well as the wider national economy.
