Governor General makes election date official; Prime Minister and Opposition Leader agree to debates

Eldony, DU--Prime Minister Aaron Ross has formally asked Governor General Gwen Spurling to dissolve Parliament and call for an election. The Governor General has called the election date for April 18. Ross and Opposition Leader Jeremy Linden have agreed to three party leaders' debates on March 12, March 19, and April 5. Progressive Democrat Leader Ely Irvin has been invited to participate but has not indicated whether he will attend or not.

Aaron Ross and the New Liberal Party maintain a slight lead over the Conservatives, lead by Jeremy Linden. Polls predict Ross and the NLP will be returned to a third term. This will mark the first time the New Liberals will stay in government for three consecutive terms since Bradford Rollins' long-serving government in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Zhouranese warships conducts exercise with US warships near Hawaii

Two days ago, three warships from the 2nd Fleet of the Zhouranese People's Army Navy had joined the US Seventh Fleet in a massive exercise near Hawaii called Exercise Sea Dragon-Eagle, in order to strengthen naval and security cooperation between Zhouran and the United States. The exercise has finished, and all three Zhouranese warships are sailing back to Zhouran. The Zhouranese warships participating in the exercise consist of the Buxie-class guided missile cruiser Tang An, Taifeng-class guided missile destroyer Sheng Tan, and Bangshou-class amphibious assault ship Zheng Fan.

Throughout the exercise, Zhouranese and American warships have conducted ship-sinking and torpedo usage, humanitarian exercises, and joint security cooperation. In the first day, officers and crew from both nations interacted in receptions, meetings, and athletic events. In the second day, Zhouranese and American warships conducted live-fire exercises, as well as mock rescue and humanitarian exercises. By the third day, the Zhouranese warships bid farewell to their American comrades.

Chief Admiral Li Hehe, who is captain of the guided missile destroyer Sheng Tan, stated "we are all tired after conducting joint security exercises with our American friends. Maybe next time both nations can conduct another naval exercise."

This is not the first time both Zhouran and the US have conducted naval exercises together. Following the end of the Cold War, Zhouran has participated in Exercise RIMPAC, the world's largest international maritime warfare exercise.

Saltbridge unveils new local-made SA90 Prowler main battle tank at the National Military Parade 2015.
Image
SA90 Prowler main battle tank

The SA90 Prowler MBT (Main Battle Tank) was revealed for the first time to the public at Saltbridge's National Military Parade, 2015. The latest version of Prowler MBT is aimed at exemplifying National Defense Industries Council (NADIC) strength in the area of defense technology – invention and development, contributing to the production of state of the art weapon systems for Saltbridge’s armed forces.

The tank, SA90 Prowler, is being tried out for different parameters. The first trial will test its missile firing ability while the second one will count into its automotive aspects, i.e., its movement ability especially with added load.

A major modification on the new version of the tank is its missile firing capability. The new tank-launch top attack missile (TANTALUS Mk 1) is primarily intended for targeting armored vehicles and fortifications over extended ranges.

Darul Takzim and Stevencousin to increase military cooperation, including soldiers training exercises

Johor Bahru, Darul Takzim - Darul Takzim's defense secretary has visited Stevencousin, where he met with officials including President Dr Atanius Cassa and discussed what seemed to be an ambitious expansion of military cooperation between the two countries. The focal point of the cooperation would be training -- including Stevencousin soldiers conducting drills in Darul Takzim -- and Stevencousin technical expertise in Darul Takzim's nascent defense industry.

In the field of military interaction the President of Stevencousin offered to conduct joint exercises of the Armed Forces of two countries on Darul Takzim firing fields.
In turn, Darul Takzim Defense Secretary Tunku Ismail s/o Sultan Ibrahim noted that Darul Takzim gives special importance to the expansion of investment and technological cooperation with Stevencousin in military industry.

Representatives from state defense manufacturer Darul Takzim Investment Corp also visited Stevencousin defense contractors. Darul Takzim has recently shown interest in drones from Stevencousin as part of its extensive expansion of weaponry suppliers.

Armed Forces on shopping spree

The Board of Procurement of the Armed Forces continues to spearhead the modernization of the Army's equipment, buoyed by the government's aggressive expansion of the military budget.

The Wolfhaven Defence Alliance was the first company to be approached by the Board with a contract amounting to just over 8 billion NSD, which would have indicated to the company that Corumm's army was not merely window shopping but intent on concluding important deals.

The sale was however cut short when the Board of Military Exports of the Korongolese government unanimously vetoed the sale on very flimsy excuses and almost positively groundless accusations of human rights violations by the Republic's government.
Foreign Minister Indbur Komanoltar described the Korongolese action as 'a slap in the face of the Republic and an intolerable affront to our national dignity' and warned of repercussions for New Korongo.

The Head of the Board of Procurement, General Per Minosios, has confirmed that they are looking at other companies such as Korvan Arms Industries and Wolf Armaments to fulfill the Army's needs.

Gregorio del Pilar spooked by submarine

Philippine frigate BRP Gregorio del Pilar frightened by a Jianju-class nuclear submarine
Image
A post-Cold War picture of a Jianju-class nuclear-powered attack submarine sailing

In the South China Sea, a Jianju-class nuclear submarine frightens Philippine warship BRP Gregorio del Pilar, while sailing around the South China Sea. Before frightening the warship, the submarine was sailing underwater, following the warship's movement. As Gregorio del Pilar began sailing back to its homeport at Subic Bay Freeport Zone, the submarine popped up, scaring the Filipino crew of the frigate, since Gregorio del Pilar lacks any anti-submarine weapons while the submarine was packed with enough firepower to wipe out large numbers of Philippine warships.

Vice Admiral Jesus C Millan AFP, the incumbent Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy, had stated "BRP Gregorio del Pilar is currently not equipped with anti-submarine weaponry, and the ship's crew were not given training on how to react to such situation", while Grand Admiral Li Sheng from the Zhouranese People's Army Navy, who is currently the Vice Chairman of the People's Defense Council, had laughed at the situation, stating "this comes to show that the Philippines cannot fully defend their territory and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea."

President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines is currently trying to expand his nation's military, in order to claim their national territory in the South China Sea. Although Zhouran has no official position in the South China Sea dispute, Zhouranese nuclear submarines have been sent to protect any Zhouranese ships passing through the sea. With the rising reckless behaviour between China and the Philippines, Zhouran will not let both nations harm any Zhouranese vessels sailing through the South China Sea.

Khantari looking to establish MIREC peacekeeping force
Image

Report by Lee Tambor
Khantari is looking to establish an Mitos Regional Council (MIREC) peacekeeping force to safeguard the region from threats foreign or domestic, Defense Minister General (ret.) Tom Brantner said.

‘I am visiting every MIREC country and one of the things which will be discussed is the forming of this peacekeeping force. He added that the MIREC peacekeeping force would not only ensure the security of the region but also participate in international peacekeeping missions.

We should use this to focus on promoting better cooperation and sharing of information to help ensure global and regional security,” he said.

'Tanks Are Off The Table', Says Asezlian

Image
An example of the BCV-83E Panda, the model of main battle tank which the armed forces of Corumm have been denied.

According to an official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an agreement has been made between the governments of New Korongo of Corumm concerning the $8 billion arms deal that was vetoed by the Korongolese government two days ago. It now appears that the Wolfhaven Defence Alliance will be authorised to sell one hundred Cornu helicopters to Corumm, but will not be allowed to sell any main battle tanks. If the original arms deal had not been vetoed, more than eight hundred Panda main battle tanks would be sold in addition to the helicopters. Danmerat Asezlian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has stated that no Korongolese-manufactured main battle tanks will reach Corumm until the human rights situation in that country has improved claiming that "tanks are off the table" for the time being. This decision by the Korongolese government has reduced the value of the arms deal to just over $160 million meaning that the Wolfhaven Defence Alliance has lost more than seven and a half billion dollars in potential revenue. Arb Zamaturu, the senior director of the Wolfhaven Defence Alliance, said at a press conference today that the agreement is 'unfortunate' but also promised worried investors that the Wolfhaven Defence Alliance would not be heavily effected by the decision. The Alliance has has already earned more than $15 billion in revenue from other customers this year alone.

The Korongolese public remains divided over whether or not the government has made the right decision. Representatives of Unriat Lar Jas, the nation’s largest opposition party, claimed that the "decision to sell arms to Corumm is a decision which will cost hundreds of human lives in the near future" and said that "the blood will be on the hands of our prime minister". These words echo statements made by human rights organisations around the country. Many of their supporters hope that the government will reverse its decision and continue to veto the entire arms deal. Banag Jangri, the head of the Korongo Lertam party which was opposed to the original veto, said on public radio that the agreement was “a step in the right direction” but went on to claim that it still impeded the ability of Korongolese corporations to compete on the international market. Recent opinion polls indicate that 38% of the population supports the government's agreement with its counterpart in Corumm. 33% of people supported a total veto of the arms deal, 18% were indifferent, and 11% supported no veto at all. If these polls are accurate, Prime Minister Oste Jonang and his party Nasingal Jas could encounter difficulties during the next election.

National Congress Debate: Will we be at War?

Image

Boris Greenwood (left) and BrigGen Halim (center, wearing aviators) before the debate.

KENZTROPOLIS - After intervening in the Caribican civil war, the Kenzinian Military had thought about declaring war against a rogue nation, whose name is classified. The communist-controlled country had recently been imprisoning almost all their Muslim population in labor camps in which the situation there was horrifying. The National Congress is debating on whether should or should not we declare war against the communist nation.

"We must stand up for our Muslim brothers and sisters being tortured there." President Kenzie S.R stated in a press conference. "Every human being should have a right to a religion; they cannot be forced into believing in another religion or being hated, tortured, or even killed because of their religious beliefs. The problem is, the majority of other nations support them. I don't know what they are thinking about torturing innocent men and women inside that horrible camp, or should I say dump."

"I say it's no big deal at all." Says leader of the Environmentalist Party, Boris Greenwood, also in the same press conference. "We've condemned that nation for their actions, ordered their government to stop it, and if they're still doing it, well, maybe we can leave them alone. I remembered an important someone saying that our nation is a nation that upholds peace rather than fighting, anyway."

"Look, no matter we declare war, or just stay here doing nothing while our friends there are being pushed around like dogs, we need allies." Brigadier General Halim, spokesman for the KMF pointed out. "Allies that is willing to help us preserve peace and help these innocent people, rather than supporting those no good communists."

This will be one of the most controversial debates in the history of the Congress. Will our country be at a total all-out war, alone? Or will we watch our brothers, sisters--friends suffering in labor camps? Stay tuned for the outcome of the debate.

Pyongyang Liberated

Zhouranese forces liberate Pyongyang, North Korean-Zhouranese War still continues in the north-east of DPRK
Image
Zhouranese troops in the dried Taedong River, fighting against exhausted North Korean soldiers in the apartments of Pyongyang

Today, the Zhouranese People's Army has liberated Pyongyang, just twelve hours after Zhouranese forces invaded and occupied the city of Nampo and the North Korean provinces of North Pyongan, South Pyongan, Kangwon, North Hwanghae, and South Hwanghae. Fiercely fighting for eight hours, the exhausted North Korean troops, who were all holed up in the apartments and government buildings of Pyongyang, had surrendered due to low ammunition and supplies, low morale, and extremely high numbers of deaths. General Ri Choi-suk, North Korea's Chief of the General Staff and commander of North Korean forces in Pyongyang, surrendered after spending most his time in the besieged Grand People's Study House.

Despite the victory, the North Korean-Zhouranese War still continues in the city of Rason and the North Korean provinces of Chagang, South Hamgyong, Ryanggang, and North Hamgyong. Although, China and Russia has joined in to defeat the North Korean military, who are under the supreme command of Marshal Pak Song-nam, who overthrown Kim Jong-un just two days ago.

Pak Song-nam, who is the self-proclaimed "Supreme Commander", overthrown Kim Jong-un during the Pyongyang Coup of February 17, 20XX. After taking power, he began threatening South Korea and the entire world with his nuclear weapons. Because of his saber-rattling, Vice Marshal Song Feng, Zhouran's current President of the State Presidium, had decided to liberate the "people of North Korea from several decades of brutality and insanity."

Focus on Air Expansion

Grand Admiral Li Sheng announces the decrease of focus on naval expansion and increase on air expansion
Image
A Bangshou-class amphibious assault ship, along with two Taifeng-class guided-missile destroyers, sailing in the Philippine Sea

In Ouyang, Grand Admiral Li Sheng, Vice Chairman of the People's Defense Council, has announced that the People's Defense Council will decrease spending on naval expansion, and increase focus on air expansion, as part of a new move initiated by the People's Defense Council to send soldiers faster to places that are far away from the nation.

During the announcement, Li stated "air transportation is much quicker than naval transportation, and because we send our troops to places that are far away, the People's Defense Council has decided to slow-down our naval expansion and increase air expansion."

Despite the fact that Zhouran maintains a large number of transport planes and transport ships, the People's Defense Council wants to double the size of the transport plane fleet, in order to transport troops quicker. The main downside of this is that transport planes carry less cargo and troops than naval transport ships.

Zhouran has a blue-water navy, capable of deploying troops anywhere around the world. The Zhouranese People's Army Air Force has a large number of transport planes, increasing Zhouran's global projection power.

Rebel Forces in Aglium Surrender

The devastating civil war in the nation of Aglium has ended. Thousands of rebel troops across the country surrendered yesterday evening after the leader of the fascist insurgency, Alex Marx, was eliminated by allied special forces personnel. Korongolese troops in the capital city of Aglium celebrated the surrender of rebel forces throughout the night and aircraft of the Royal Air Corps overflew the city leaving trails of red, blue, and yellow smoke across the sky. Prime Minister Oste Jonang, speaking at a press conference held early this morning, said that the surrender of the fascist insurgency in Aglium was a "demonstration of the resilience and determination of the people of Aglium" and an "enormousness victory for all those who support political freedoms and representative democracy". He also made it clear that Korongolese involvement in Aglium would not end immediately. “The armed conflict in Aglium has caused extensive damage to infrastructure and amenities in the cities that became battle zones. For now, our forces must remain in Aglium to aid in the reconstruction process. We must also consider the possibility that extremist elements of the insurgent forces may attempt to continue fighting in the near future.” He said. The Korongolese government has already agreed to provide the government of Aglium Đ3,000,000 ($2,205,150) in financial aid per day for the next four months. It also appears that Korongolese forces are involved in a radiological clean up in a remote stretch of Aglium jungle. Information is limited at this time, but we do know that the rebel forces detonated a small nuclear weapon in that area in a desperate attempt to avoid defeat. Fortunately, the area is sparsely populated and recent reports indicate that there was no civilian loss of life. Jonang has promised that Korongolese forces operating in the affected area will be adequately protected and has stated that determining the origin of the weapon is a top priority.

According to the latest casualty report issued by the Ministry of Defence, a total of 38 men and women from New Korongo were killed during the civil war. Flags around New Korongo have been lowered to half-mast to honour those who will not be returning to their families. Most political leaders were pleased to hear that the conflict has come to a close, but some have said that Korongolese involvement was not needed. Banang Jangri, the head of the leading opposition party Unriat Lar Jas, claimed on a breakfast television show this morning that the loss of Korongolese life was unnecessary and criticised the Prime Minister for his "belligerent attitude to international affairs". Morgan Algar, the head of the Smoke Weed Everyday Party, said on his blog that "war, and the subsequent loss of life, is a harrowing reminder that appropriate distractions such as marijuana are a necessary component of a long lasting peace". Human rights organisations, on the other hand, have praised the Prime Minister for the government's rapid response to the fascist insurgency and its promise to aid the rebuilding process. Recent polls indicate that a small majority supported Korongolese involvement in the Aglium Civil War.

Neighboring Country Bokkern-Teras Taunting Yokerin?
Image

The ships could be seen from Dachen's farthest sea point.

DACHEN, AUSCHTEN- After a Bokkern-Terasian naval exercise that could be seen 350 miles away from the coast of Dachen, some say that Bokkern-Teras could be trying to taunt Yokerin with their naval pride.

The Bokkern-Terasian People's Navy says that this was just a routine naval exercise that was not made with intent to taunt any neighboring country. A ship that was on route to the port of Dachen says that they even saw each ship that was included in the exercise shoot a missle towards the city, exploding almost halfway.

Officials from the Yokerinian Navy say that the ships were in the Yokerinian sea boundary.

But this wasn't the first time they did this. Reports from Esen, a town which is only 75 kilometers from the Bokkern-Terasian border say that they've seen incidents of Bokkern-Terasian aircraft flying over the town, and immediately turning back towards Bokkern-Teras. Again, the Bokkern-Teras People's Airforce says that it is just a routine exercise not meant to intimidate.

The Yokerin Military is seeing this as an attack on the country and will be deciding if they will be retaliating against Bokkern-Teras.

Are you really out of your mind? There are actual witnesses that saw the boats past the CLEARLY MARKED sea boundary line. Your people are so dumb.

I can't believe that these Bokkern-Terasian idiots. Thinking that they're actually strong? We can destroy them in 5 minutes if they don't surrender.

imagine those missiles they fired went long range towards dachen. hahahaha bye bye my beautiful city[/b]

Delkoran Troops Deployed Near Stagmar

Image

Delkoran marines patrol a village near the border of Stagmar

Late today, Chancellor Azengaard announced that the Delkoran Fifth Naval Fleet is being deployed near the nation of Stagmar, in a region plagued by sectarian violence. Tensions between Sufi tribes and the nations of Uyenkistan and East Uyenkistan have been high. The Delkoran government has announced its support for the Sufi tribes.

"The Sufis simply want to be left alone to govern peacefully, without the threat of genocide from their extremist neighbors," Chancellor Azengaard said in a press conference today. "As a nation that stands for human rights, we have an obligation to protect the world from the growing threat of radical Islam, an ideology which is espoused by both Uyenkistan and East Uyenkistan."

However, support for the military intervention is not universal, especially in the divided Parliament.

"Chancellor Azengaard has hardly been in office for a month and he's already dragging us off to war," member of Parliament Demar Elrand (S-Norvia) said in a statement. "But what else should we expect from the Monarchists?"

Indeed, the Monarchist Party has been clear in its platform that it intends to confront "the global threat of terrorism." The Socialist Party has called for non-military solutions to deal with terrorism, including supporting economic development in third world countries.

"The only effective way to fight terrorism abroad is by dealing with its root causes," Elrand said in Parliament today. "People don't resort to extremism unless they are desperate. If we are to put an end to these radical ideologies that threaten global peace, we must extend our aid to governments that are struggling, and enable them to provide for their people. We cannot simply drop bombs and expect to solve the problem."

Currently, Delkoran ground forces have only a small presence in the region, and Chancellor Azengaard has insisted that the intervention will be limited in scope. Air strikes against enemy targets are expected to begin in the coming days. It is unclear how long the conflict will last. Under the Delkoran Constitution, the chancellor can deploy military forces for up to a month before a formal declaration of war is required.

Discussion: Is Song Feng messing with the political environment?

By Tan Xing
Image
Song Feng in civilian clothing during a world summit in New York City, USA

We all know that Song Feng is a beautiful military officer who is the current President of the State Presidium. Although, we should not let her attractiveness distract us from what she is doing with the political environment of Zhouran. People would be asking "what has she done wrong?" Sure, Song has made great steps for world peace, but she is unconsciously weakening the leadership and power of the Zhouranese People's Army. While Senior Marshal Tan Haidong, current Chairman of the People's Defense Council and Supreme Commander of the Zhouranese People's Army, is trying to maintain Zhouran's great military strength, Song Feng is trying to whore our nation to the West and the East, especially to the United States and the United Nations, which she is a lapdog of. Basically, Song Feng is the Whore of Asia, and we must not let foreigners recognize our nation because of her.

Tan Haidong has been trying to secure the leadership of the People's Defense Council while Song Feng, trying to be the "Good Girl of Asia", is messing with politics, therefore endangering the leadership of the military. Although both Zhouran and the US have good relations since the 1970s, it's quite recent that Song has whored herself out to the Americans. Rather than keeping our military posture, keeping us militarily relevant and able to function independently, Song has decided to open up to her American masters at Wall Street.

Song has created bureaucracy within the national leadership, just to simply mooch off her American masters, and she has covered her own incompetence in managing the nation's political environment, let alone fixing domestic issues while she is too focused on helping nations who have no political and military worthiness to us.

Wow, why so harsh on Song? Sure, she may be too soft, but really, she is working for a better future.

znleo

Sure, she's a whore, but damn, not only is she pretty, but she's trying to promote Zhouran's soft power, rather than relying on hard, military power.

Blue Wave Resorts will house everyone involved

The island of Guerim will house the Cattish Surf Circuit this year. The decision was announced yesterday by Rebwave, the company promoting the event. The 5 stars Blue Wave Resorts was chosen to house participants and staff. A representative of the company already said the hotels, 3 in the island, will be closed to for exclusive use of those involved. The Cattish Surf Circuit attracts millions every year, and last year Rebwave declared G$ 1.413,245,000 in profits. The event will take place next July.

Saltbridge Donates medium range transport aircraft SA80 MANTRA to Hundredstar
Image

The Hundredstarians Air Force will select delivery of four medium range transport aircraft SA80 MANTRA as a gift from the Saltbridge in March 2015.

The SA80 MANTRA planes were made in the Saltbridge and can land on soft surfaces such as pot.

The aircraft have three crew members and can transport up to 70 passengers, flying up to 608 kilometers per hour to maximum distances of 5,900 km. The MANTRA is suited for missions requiring an aircraft that is capable of faster, higher-altitude and longer-distance coverage than helicopters. It delivers a low operating cost due to its simple, robust structure.

The Hundredstarians Air Forces use light transport planes for artillery observation, practice for anti-air units, observation missions, medical evacuations, transporting parachutists and for other transport charges.

The aircraft will be delivered to Hundredstar in March 2015, once the pilots and technicians have finished the necessary preparation.

P-1007-67 MRAP

This month the Hundrestarian Armed Forces and the Defence Logistics Organisation (DELO) of Khantari have signed a contract on the transfer of surplus military vehicles, and anti-tank vehicles from the reduced Khantari Armed Forces. The equipment will be dispersed across the units of the Hundrestarian Armed Forces to replace unviable, dates and economically loss-making equipment. The total value of the contract comes to approximately 10m S$.

A portion of the materiel acquired from the Khantari – P-1007-67 MRAP, and Prowler Anti tank Vehicle intended for various units of the Hundrestarian Armed Forces - are planned to arrive in Hundrestar as soon as mid-April 2015. The rest of the purchase will be brought till the middle of 2015. The contract also foresees that Khantarian military instructors will train Hundrestarian military personnel on using the acquired equipment.

The Hundrestarian Navy has also agreed a lease with Defence Logistics Organisation (DELO) for the two Sentry class Light Frigate and four Alphonse' Class Fast Interdictor. The contract, the value of which is undisclosed, will enable the navy to conduct a patrol to their own maritime zone.

Breaking News: Confederacy in Red Alert

Image
A MiG-29 and a F-16 of the Cattish Air Corps flying over the island of Nearu

- The Government of the Cattish Confederacy placed the archipelago this morning under Red Alert, the 2nd most serious. After the Security Service released evidence that a terrorist atack was imminent, the National Defense Corps were mobilized. The Navy Corps ordered several vessels to patrol several areas in the south and off the coast of the capital, the Air Corps took over the skies of the capital and surrounding areas and the Army Corps was also called to patrol several cities, including the capital as well.

As custom, those called by the Corps are immediately relieved from any obligations (workers leave immediately their jobs; students are relieved from classes), asked to arm themselves with the equipment stored at their homes and leave for the appointed bases. Nearly 100 000 were called across the country. So far, in the current operation 24 people were arrested by the army and more are expected to be arrested in the coming hours as the operation continues.

We will bring you more updates as soon as they are available.

President disagrees on the Declaration of War; War Avoided!

Image

Situation at the NCB during the debate.

KENZTROPOLIS - After a debate that lasted for like months, the National Congress agrees that the Federation of Kenzinia should declare war on a rogue country. But then again, the President himself reconsidered his options and disagrees to sign the declaration. Several congressmen could be seen outside the National Congress Building cursing President Kenzie S.R.

"I have reconsidered the options available once more, and scrap the idea of waging war." The President stated this morning. "If we fail to invade them, there'll be a good chance of they counter-attacking us. I don't want that to happen at all."

"Bah! He's just afraid of being removed from power!" Says leader of the new Monarchist Party, Michael Cornelli. "If I were him, I'll totally destroy those evil communists myself. We have enough troops in the Garrison section of the KMF, and should a counter-attack happen, they won't be able to touch us thanks to our mighty troopers."

On the other hand, the civilian population are celebrating another round of peace and quiet. They hope Kenzinia wouldn't be engaging in any more wars, for the safety of the people.

Bortumonun Demands Tracking of Foreigners

Jeni Bortumonun, the leader of the extremist party Korongo Jas, has demanded the creation of a new law which will require police across New Korongo to monitor individuals who are not Korongolese citizens. This news comes less than twenty four hours after a Korongolese child was killed in a hit and run incident by a tourist driving a rental car. Appearing at a press conference held this morning, Bortumonun claimed that “tourists will continue to injure and kill our innocent citizens if they are not monitored at all times” and then called for Parliament to pass legislation that would “make the police of New Korongo responsible for the continuous monitoring of all foreigners within the territories of the United Provinces”. Civil rights groups are outraged by Bortumonun's statements, a feeling which is shared by many Korongolese citizens who feel that Korongo Jas has overstepped the line. Banag Jangri, the leader of the largest opposition party, described Bortumonun's words as a "direct attack against anyone who valued freedom and liberty". When asked if his party would support the tracking of foreigners, Prime Minister Oste Jonang responded by saying "Are you mad?". Recent polls indicate that less than 3% of the population supports Bortumonun's proposal to track foreigners. However, 43% have said that tourists should have to complete a driving test before they are allowed to drive on Korongolese roads.

Professor Oshat Altig of the University of Mebangy-Ityan has suggested that there may be a hidden agenda embedded within Bortumonun's words. "The proposal to monitor and track all tourists is quite extreme, even for Korongo Jas. It is possible that Bortumonun is attempting to alienate her moderate supporters in an effort to discover who is truly loyal to the party. Historically, political groups overseas have made similar moves prior to becoming militant organisations. I do not like to speculate, but it is possible that we could soon face a more violent side of Bortumonun and her party." He said to one of our reporters. When asked if she was planning militant action, Bortumonun dismissed the claims.
