McGarry Government Announces New Building Project

Image

Chancellor David McGarry unveiled today the plans of a new skyscraper that is going to be built on the outskirts of downtown Hausmacht beginning this spring. The project will be funded by the Ministry of the Treasury and constructed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and will be used for government offices, a hotel, penthouse apartments and other amenities. The cost of the new building is said to be about 65 billion Confederate dollars, as it will also have space going one or two miles underground. This project has been discussed by a few of McGarry's predecessors, but thought it too costly. "This will definitely put Nationale Einheit, and more specifically our nation's capital, on the map," Chancellor McGarry said during the announcement. McGarry lobbied with the Senate to get the needed funding for the project and it was approved yesterday. "This building will be freaking tall," a source said. There will be secondary office space for the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and the President in the building, which will be called Hausmacht Center. The building will take about one year to complete.

Dodge Monaco updated for 2015
Image

Dodge has launched the 2015 Monaco, with a facelift, and additional colours added to the palette as its major changes. There are no major engineering changes, although prices are slightly cheaper than before.

Sold only as a four-door saloon, it is priced to compete with rivals such as the BMW 5-Series.

There is a choice of two engines, a 3.0-litre/150bhp V6 or a 3.0-litre/184bhp V6 petrol, sourced from Celsan-Renault, and it is standard on all models. Transmission choices are a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. However, the manual is available only to fleets, not retail.

Trim levels are ES and LE, with ES offering a more sport/luxury feel, and LE being the luxury version.

3.0 V6 150 ES auto - £26,780
3.0 V6 150 LE auto - £27,068
3.0 V6 185 ES auto - £27,265
3.0 V6 185 LE auto - £27,597

Paramilitaries Unbanned : Parties may now have their own Armed Wing

Image

Personnel of the Black Armor Detachment of the newly-formed Monarchist Party.

KENZTROPOLIS - The National Congress have passed a law regarding the re-allowance of armed wings of political parties, Thursday (29/1/2015). Armed wings were banned in 1967 after the Communist Party of Kenzinia's Red Sickles Detachment attempted a coup on President Ahmad Giroud's government. Congress lifted the ban for uncertain reasons by passing the law.

The law stated that the armed wings will also function as a Paramilitary force, meaning they may be used for defending Kenzinia should there be a conflict. Parties may only arm themselves with infantry firearms. Support weapons and armored fighting vehicles are prohibited and can only be used by the Kenzinian Military Forces. They may not have more men than 10% of the total personnel of the KMF.

Every party in Kenzinia, including the ruling Islamic Democratic Party (IDP) recruited numerous amounts of civilians into their new armed wings. "We are recruiting anyone who is capable of pulling a trigger into our party." Stated Kenzie S.R, the current President of Kenzinia and the leader of IDP.

Bugglesnout Out!

Image
James Bugglesnout, controversial Member of Parliament for Thambag's 2nd district, was expelled from his seat this morning. Expulsion from Parliament is an extremely rare procedure not conducted since 1941. The reigning Prince must order the expulsion, and it must be confirmed by a 2/3 vote of the House of Commons and a 2/3 vote of the Lords. Additionally the Lords Mayor must approve by a 1/2 vote.

Premier Smughorn has advocated for Mr. Bugglesnout's expulsion since November, citing his disorderly conduct and criminal record. Prince George had, however, resisted the growing calls due to reluctance to assert royal authority. The incident last week ended up forcing his hand.

Mr. Bugglesnout last Thursday telephoned the Times in what appeared to be an inebriated state. He demanded to speak with the paper's editor in chief, Ms. Elizabeth Goldstein; upon being told she was out of the country on business he began ranting against the "Jewish [expletive deleted] and their [expletive deleted] power." Bugglesnout then called for the removal of all "Jews, Muslims, and homosexuals" from the country, before apparently passing out. Since Thursday he has defended his statements and called upon "True Raurosians to force out the unclean scum."

The Commons voted 161-6-10 to expel; the Lords 81-0-9. The Lords Mayor voted 605-191-70.

The Government will continue to improve defense capabilities in Redford Isle terms of number of troops and assets to face any eventuality. Affirming this, the Deputy Secretary of Defense Mr. Abraham Jewell Jansing said is consistent with the strengthening of the protection of national defense program as announced by President Blend in Budget 2015.

"Some of them placing jet fighter detachment there, adding members of the battalion at Camp Lydsey, combat helicopters placing in Redford Air Base and extending the airport for the purpose of forward bases," he said. Redford Isle is a cluster of small islands in Playrock Sea, it is the most distant colonies of Saltbridge from the mainland.

Saltbridge commencements mass construction of the domestic SA900 heavy helicopters
Image
SA 900 Heavy Helicopter

Saltbridgeans Air Force Spokesman reported on Wednesday that the country has begun development of its home-made SA900 helicopters in high numbers. “The helicopters are now on the way of mass-production,” he said in an interview with the state-run news agency.

A bilateral product of the Saltbridge Air Force and the Saltbridgeian Ministry of Defense, it is the second generation of the Saltbridgeian indigenous helicopters.

It features a redesigned lower fuselage, with power provided by two improved Titan H1 turboshaft engines with 4,733 hp (3,529 kW) each. SA 900 can accommodate up to 60 light-geared troops or 14,000 kg cargoes. SA 900 can be equipping with two medium size machineguns or platforms for anti tank missiles. SA900 will be given the Digital Avionic Support System (DASS). DASS enhances the digital advanced flight-control system, and provides an exact torque split between the rotors for greater efficiency.

Kenzinian Military plans to Upgrade its fighting vehicles

Image

A Kenzinian T80B. The Soviet-made T80 MBT has been the backbone of the KMF for the past two decades.

KENZTROPOLIS - The Kenzinian Military Forces (KMF) have announced that they will order new vehicles to add to its fighting force. The KMF currently has over than 200 AFVs and tanks bought from various friendly and peaceful nations, including several T-80 MBTs bought from the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War.

Brigadier General Abu Halim, KMF's spokesman stated, "We must continue to modernize our vehicle line-ups in order to efficiently prevent any conflict happening internally, inside Kenzinia, and externally, in neighboring nations." He further stated that he will look outside to other nations for new fighting vehicles. The Kenzinian National Armaments Co., have made a design for a new MBT for the military, but Halim said that the KMF needs more than tanks and IFVs to do their jobs properly, that is to protect the people of Kenzinia.

Saltbridge Sun’s CEO Interview Series: Exclusive Interview with President & Chief Executive Officer
South Seas Soda Company, Allistair Houghton

Today we have Allistair Houghton, CEO and President, South Seas Soda Company
Image
Allistair Houghton

Allistair Houghton is the great-great-great grandson of South Seas Soda Company’s founder, Percival Houghton. Being raised in the family business, Allistair brings a much more global mindset to the company than did the previous CEOs did. He brings a creative mindset to the helm of the company, which is furthered through good business sense learned while achieving his MBA at the University of the South Pacific in Costa Aluria’s capital of Mosiac.

At 34 years of age, he has seen South Seas Soda Company undergo and impressive amount of growth in the past few years. He attributes his success to being willing to follow his impulsive instincts and to connecting ideas that many others would not initially connect. Whenever anybody asks him for advice, his response always begins with the same two words: “Have fun.” It is this fun loving, creative attitude that makes him a perfect fit to serve not only as the company’s figurehead in leadership, but also as the lead creative flavor chef in charge of testing potential new flavors to add to the company portfolio. He has parlayed this into great brewing skill when it comes to the technical side of business.

Allistair has been ranked #1 on Costa Aluria’s top 35 under 35 list, a list of up and coming business professionals making large impacts at an age of less than 35 years. Though the title that Allistair uses professionally is that of president of South Seas Soda Company, those who know him best note that he often describes his title as that of “history maker.”

How do you measure success?
It would be easy to repeat some cliché response to how I measure success. And some people may very well believe in the truth of things like “we measure success one bottle of soda at a time.” While South Seas Soda Company certainly prides itself on the quality of our beverages that does not equate to success in our book. One of the reasons our company has been successful is that we offer a product for which the market is not oversaturated. And that comes from our number one principle, one that rings true to measuring success as well. And that principle is to be true to yourself. Our greatest gift in this world is that we get to be an individual; we don't have to sell out to what anybody else thinks we should or should not do. I measure success by knowing that I am proud to be Allistair Houghton and nobody else.

Our greatest gift in this world is that we get to be an individual

What’s the toughest part of being in charge?
The toughest part of being in charge is the perceived notion that there is not enough of me to go around. I say “perceived” notion because everybody expects me to solve all of the problems, when I am trying to motivate others to be leaders and take ownership in the company themselves. One of the strongest things about building a company is the wealth of people that one employs; until people realize their full potential, much of that talent is wasted. It is difficult to help people become true to this potential, and until my employees realize it, they tend to automatically fall into this trap that the head of the company has to make all the decisions. In reality, we are all in this together.

What’s the best motivator for employees?
I think the answer to what is the best motivator lies inside the last two questions; I want people to realize their full potential as individuals. As such, I give my employees a lot of freedom to learn who they are. This includes the ability to be free to make decisions without being micromanaged. I fully understand that in so doing, employees will make mistakes. But I also fully recognize that making mistakes is part of the process of becoming truly great. When one is free to make decisions without feeling the pressure to be continually correct or else face grave consequences, I think that individual becomes motivated to do their very best.

I want people to realize their full potential as individuals. As such, I give my employees a lot of freedom to learn who they are.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in your business?
It is hard to say what my proudest accomplishment has been for the company. I suppose the biggest accomplishment is that our company has found ways to remain relevant even after 140 years of offering similar products. The fact that we just recently unveiled two new flavors to our portfolio confirms the fact that we are always looking toward the future despite our storied history. As we say whenever we unveil new flavors, we are always looking to be on the flavor frontier. Truly, South Seas Soda Company's proudest accomplishment hasn't happened yet.

Gut instinct versus expertise: Which is more important and why?
Gut instinct, for sure. Gut instinct has given me the courage to go after some very interesting soda flavors without the need to cater to what everybody else says is the right thing to do. Experience is more likely to tell you to go with what you know works—to take the conservative route, perhaps. But gut instinct has allowed me to test the waters and find new ways to be exciting and relevant. And that has been a huge propulsion to our success. Though, I must note, it has been fun to see the development as I get more experience using my gut instinct; at some point I think it is fair to say that the two blend into one.

Experience is more likely to tell you to go with what you know works—to take the conservative route, perhaps. But gut instinct has allowed me to test the waters and find new ways to be exciting and relevant.

What have you learned about yourself running your business?
I have learned that creativity is king. Our entire business practice, as I have stated, is on being an individual. People respond to others who are true individuals and do their own thing. And that stems from one's ability to connect ideas that others wouldn't initially connect. Inside each of us lies a divine directive to try to mimic the creativity of our Creator; I try my best to hone that ability in everything I do.

Ford Sierra gets facelift and new engines
19 Sep 1993
Image
Despite the introduction of the Mondeo, Ford have kept the Sierra on for 1993, with a new facelift planned for 1995. Marketed as "1993 1/2 cars", they continue until 1995; the 1994 model year is not expected to have major changes here, so we are told.
The Sierra range continues, gaining a new front end, new engines and increased safety features.

Body styles are a three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback, five-door estate and the Sierra Sapphire four-door saloon; however, for this generation the RS Cosworth 4x4 is restricted solely to the Sapphire version.

Trim levels are now realigned to basic i, mid-range LX (which we expect to be the biggest-seller), GLX, Ghia and XR4x4. The Azura trim is discontinued, but can still be had on the previous-generation car. Also, for anyone expecting a VLT L5 GT competitor, the XR4x4 is one and it isn't; it's sporty, but it's not out-and-out performance, more of a luxury car with a sporty V6 engine.

Cattish Today
International Version

Polls confirm: The Right is in agony

- Recent polls confirmed the trend that started last year: people are growing tired of failed conservative policies (or lack of them) of the Conservative Party. Currently ruling with only 29% of approval ratings, the Conservative Party is suffering its major crisis in 30 years.

"It's crazy." - says Utaha Goeri, 32 - "Business is out of control, industries are out of control, corruption is a huge problem and all those conservatives want is to fill their pockets and exchange nice gifts with major corporations. We're tired of this." The majority of the population desire a return of the left-leaning "Hidden Cat" - an organization which wasn't really a party but had a set of political goals - and speak with awe when remembering the Revolutionary and Post-Revolutionary periods between 2007-2010, when Hidden Cat was in the government. "They actually cared about us. With them, some dirty corrupt politicians secretly supporting criminal actions against the oposition, most faced trial, and some of them were even killed on the spot. Hidden Cat managed to bring stability to our society. They fixed the problems and retired, hoping that others would continue their work. But those wacko conservatives and their cousins are ruining things again! We have to kick them out." says Sato Satori, 41.

The organization disbanded in 2010 and most of their member returned to anonymity, including the famous, young, former leaders of Hidden Cat, Blue and Yellow, living since late 2010 in their villa in Inuet, the main town of Foggy Island. Miss Blue and miss Yellow refused to make any comments on this situation.

BREAKING NEWS: GOVERNMENT INCREASES DEFENSE BUDGET

Chancellor David McGarry announced this evening during a last minute press conference that the Senate has approved his proposed increase of the defense budget. During the chancellery campaign last year then-candidate McGarry said that he wanted Nationale Einheit's defense budget to "meet the demands of defending the nation and defeating terrorism" during his time in office if elected. The budget presently stands at two trillion dollars and has been raised to ten trillion dollars. This includes more funding for intelligence and national security, strategic defense, military technology and weaponry as well as newly established programs for recruitment, training and space forces. Ten trillion is only the number released to the public, stated Armed Services Minister Anselm Cohaagen after the announcement. "Our monetary requirement for keeping this nation safe is far more than what is seen," Minister Cohaagen said. Nationale Einheit has historically spent more on defense purposes following the Bruski Government. Rumors have surfaced from classified sources that the actual defense budget is about fifty trillion dollars but could be more, but Cohaagen would not clarify, saying that actual numbers cannot be announced for "national security reasons."

Following a heated debate which at times threatened to descend into violence, The People's Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Rengalia voted 54-to-43 with two abstentions to approve a proposed resolution to cut off all existing trade and economic relations with Israel. The resolution, offered by Assembly Speaker Andres Tolćik, comes in the wake of a simmering scandal in which leaked documents revealed that the state-run Rengalian National Shipping Corporation had been allowing ZIM shipments to Israel from Puerto Deseado to use the Port of Paraná as a stoppage point en route to Tel Aviv. The revelations, exposed in The Rengalian People's Press on January 16th, set off a firestorm of discontent across the nation, culminating earlier this week with a majority of the membership of the 1,200-strong Rengalian Port Workers Association voting to go on strike this coming Monday February 9th if the government did not take action to prevent the NSC from sanctioning such activity at the Port of Paraná in the future.

The vote had been thrown into doubt late Thursday morning when the Rengalian Communist Party and the junior coalition partner People's Solidarity threatened to oppose the resolution during the final vote. Both parties have long sought to reestablish the Palestinian Liberation Adviser Program, and saw an opportunity in this debate to force the issue to a vote in the People's Assembly for the first time since the Israeli offensive in Gaza this past summer.

The program, known as PLAP, was first established in 1968 after a delegation of members of the newly-established People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) persuaded the Rengalian People's Assembly at the time to approve a program to send military advisers to the Palestinian Territories through Jordan for the purposes of aiding and assisting the PFLP in conducting its operations against the Israeli occupation, as they had been doing in a similar capacity on behalf of the African National Congress in South Africa since 1961. The PLAP program was suspended in 1994 at the behest of PLO President Yasser Arafat as negotiations stemming from the Oslo Accords were still ongoing. During the early days of the Second Intifada, the People's Assembly in June 2001 overwhelmingly approved a resumption of the program, but U.S. threats of an embargo of the Port of Paraná in the wake of the September 11th attacks stalled implementation indefinitely. The program was formally discontinued in 2007, but has remained a divisive issue ever since.

Communist Party Secretary-General Janica Suarez issued the following statement a few hours before the debate on the resolution was scheduled to begin: "The idea that this resolution as it stands now represents true solidarity with the people of occupied Palestine is absolute garbage. It is no wonder the NSC has been dealing with the Devil all these years. This is the same government and the same president that we know has toyed with the notion of sending envoys to Tel Aviv, the very belly of the beast. Ricardo Mazlak has utterly shamed the spirit and memory of Jean Bideau and the Congress of European Survivors."

People's Solidarity leader Antonio Giancarlo was more measured: "It does not make sense to make such a strong statement against support for the Apartheid State of Israel without re-instituting the PLAP program. As of the present time, People's Solidarity cannot support the resolution in its current form."

The resolution appeared headed for a narrow defeat around 10:00 PM when the Prime Minister and leader of the Socialist Party in the Assembly Franz Szalinski announced on the Assembly floor that the Socialist Party and President Mazlak would allow for a vote on a resolution to compel the government to reestablish the PLAP program sometime next week, and that the 39 members of the Socialist Party in the Assembly would be allowed a conscience vote on the issue when it comes up. This appeared enough for Giancarlo and People's Solidarity, who promptly declared their support for the original motion shortly before voting was scheduled to begin.

The 34-seat-strong Communists, for their part, remained steadfast in their opposition to the resolution as Suarez, despite the Socialists' last-minute overtures, announced herself on the floor of the Assembly that the Communists would be tabling a No Confidence motion next week against Szalinski and the Socialist-led government. "The Rengalian people have had enough of this corrupt flirtation with liberalism designed to appease imperialist Western power brokers and their modern-day Nazi state of Israel, the establishment of which Rengalia's founders fought so hard against!" she shouted over a raucous chorus of boos from the Socialist section of the Assembly, "The NSC's actions speak to a broader culture of chauvinism which has been allowed to take root throughout this nation!"

Despite this, Suarez then announced that the Communists would in fact be supporting the future resolution to reestablish the PLAP program, but urged fellow party members to be cautious. "Be wary, my comrades, for there is a great evil afoot here in this chamber tonight. Those that would have allowed the NSC's Zionist treachery to continue unhindered are the same forces now claiming to be the true representatives of solidarity with this empty vote tonight and empty promises of future justice!" she said, closing her floor speech to a deafening mixture of rapturous applause and murderous jeers.

On a lighter note, just after Suarez had finished speaking and the commotion died down, the warring factions were transformed back into allies when Antonio Benitez, the leader of the Liberal Party rose to give his speech. "True solidarity with the Palestinian people does not take the form of boycotts and supporting terrorist groups," he said at one point to a choir of howling laughter throughout the Assembly chamber, "True solidarity lies in supporting the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, which was why this chamber abandoned the destructive PLAP for good some twenty years ago."

After the allotted time for speeches had expired, the Assembly members voted 54-to-43 to approve the government resolution to put an end the NSC stopover practice. Shortly after the vote, PWA President Giorgio Carlos issued the following statement: "The leadership of the PWA is very pleased with the outcome of tonight's vote. We wholeheartedly urge the rest of the membership to vote to rescind the call for a February 9th strike during this coming Sunday's vote on the matter."

It's Election Day: Winds of Change?

- Billions of Cattishes have their chance of showing support for the status quo or for new policies. This Sunday, the election for the Diarchy will take place but the winds of change might already be blowing.Although the race will be led by 3 parties - the right-wing "Conservative Party", the centrist "Cattish Forward" and the left-leaning "New Left" - recent polls show the current Diarchs and the Conservative Party will be severely punished for their policies, with the young candidates of the New Left, Dahlia Mache and Elesa Kamitsure, being the probable victors of this election. Dahlia and Elesa are known for being strong supporters of "Hidden Cat", which also means several policies enacted by the conservatives will be dismantled, and the Judicial branch will be in charge of a "witch hunt" following the recent scandal concerning the illegal use of public funds by members of the Conservatives for personal gain. The New Left also intends to place more regulation on industry and certain businesses, and suprisingly most corporations welcome this.

"There is no point in trying to save our asses now. Even we have to admit, the industry is completely out of control. It wouldn't be surprising if some company tried something as buying the entire country. The only reason something really serious didn't happened yet is because Cattish business ethic always had corporations themselves placing restrictions on their own actions, a sort of unwritten rule, although only a few actually follow this unwritten rule. Too much regulation is harmful, but no regulation at all isn't good either. A balance must be found." - Kasumi Sato, CEO of Halcyon Industries and the current Chairman of the Comission of the Industry, said during an interview last night which was viewed by billions.

In case of defeat and taking the latest polls into account, the Conservative Party will pratically disappear from the national political stage, and years will be needed to recover.

Pontian police to get more advanced Saltbridge training

Pontian District Police Anti Drugs Wing

Pontian, Darul Takzim - Pontian’s partnership with the Saltbridge Police Counter Narcotic Agency (CONA) is beginning to bear fruit, with city officials saying on Tuesday that the Pontian District Police Anti Drugs Wing has made major drug busts in recent months that can be attributed to the training the team has received from the CONA.

Since 2009 the US government has invested $10m Jauhar in Pontian’s district police through drug enforcement training, study tours to the Saltbridge, National Security Directorate (NASDIR) school resource officer training and Saltbridge Police Intelligence Service (SPIS) management training and all under Mitos Region Drug Interdiction Program (MIRDRIP) Aegis.

Drug abuse, especially the use of ice, the slang name for stimulant drug methamphetamine, remains a major headache for city authorities. A number of Pontian townships, such as Pontian Kecil and Tanjung Piai, have been ravaged by drug and alcohol abuse, which fuels gang-related crimes.

In recent news the president of the enclave confederates Frank C. Jameson has declared war on the tribals that currently reside in zion national park. A recent poll shows this move was unpopular among most though the president is saying that the action is necessary if trade routes to the mojave are ever to be reopened. The full scale of the effort is unknown although it has been confirmed that troops stationed on scout duty and mutant control are being marched towards zion national park.

A section of the wind farm

- Today the assemble of the last wind turbine marked the end of the construction of the largest offshore wind farm of the country. Located 20 km off the coast of Morchea, the largest island of the Aeolian Islands, the newly built 335 turbines will start producing energy still during this week.

Of the 335 turbines, 160 of them are the newest model of vertical axis turbines created by DEM Industries. The Minister of the Environment said today that future wind farms will only be built with vertical axis turbines. The "Green Islands Program" of the recently elected "New Left" government headed by the recently elected Diarchs, Dahlia Mache and Elesa Kamitsure, defend the construction of another large offshore wind farm and another one in Morchea still this year.

Korongolese Government Vetoes $8 Billion Arms Deal

The Board of Military Exports, an agency of the Korongolese government which reviews arms deals made between Korongolese businesses and overseas buyers, has vetoed an eight billion dollar arms deal between the Wolfhaven Defence Alliance and the government of Corumm. A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced at a press conference this morning that the arms deal had been vetoed because the Korongolese government did not want Korongolese arms to fall into the hands of an 'oppressive state'. While most political commentators in New Korongo agree that the government of Corumm is totalitarian in nature, there is a large divide between those who believe the Korongolese government has the right to interfere with the dealings of a private corporation and those who don't.

The political parties of New Korongo are similarly divided. Banag Jangri, the head of the opposition party Korongo Lertam, argued that such interference would prevent the Korongolese arms industry from competing with its international counterparts. The largest opposition party, Unriat Lar Jas, has announced that it supports the decision in a surprising move. Arb Zamaturu, the senior director of the Wolfhaven Defence Alliance, mentioned at a press conference that he is not pleased with the government's decision and also said that his organization would work within the boundaries of the system to reverse the decision. The Wolfhaven Defence Alliance has appealed to the Board of Military Exports to that end, though there is no news regarding the success of the appeal yet. Public opinion polls are not as divisive and it appears that 72% of the population is opposed to the government's decision to veto the arms deal.

Kenzinian Military Confirms order

Image

A classified tank destroyer bought from Korva.

KENZTROPOLIS - The Kenzinian Military Forces (KMF) have confirmed an order of over 50 tanks and artillery from Korva worth over NS$ 10 million. The KMF recently announced their plans to upgrade their weaponry as their current ones are aging and worn out, dating back to the 1980's at the Cold War. There was no information on what model and type the military ordered, but clearly it will reinforce the KMF well.

KMF's spokesman Brigadier Halim stated that the KMF will be ready to make a direct military intervention in Caribica. A civil war recently broke out in the nation, and the KMF have sent a number of troops to support the rebels overthrowing the government.
