2023 Anatoliyanskiyan Snap Election (CLOSED)

Postby Anatoliyanskiy » Sun Jun 18, 2023 12:36 pm

BREAKING NEWS: After a shaky confidence and supply agreement with the Communist Party that lasted 3 years, the Communists have switched over to the opposition and voted against the 2023 Budget. They released a statement that the budget was "too neoliberal" eluding to the inclusion of multiple free trade agreements with neighbouring countries in the Pacific such as China, and also pointing out its pledge to send peacekeepers to Ukraine which violates the Communist Party's foreign policy stance of non-interventionism. The government lost the confidence vote 98-106 (2 Green members abstained) and the writ has been dropped for a snap election.

The date of the election will be July 10th, and 300 seats will be up for grabs after the Parliament and Elections Reform Bill was passed last year which increased the number of seats from 181 base seats and 25 levelling seats to 300 base seats and 30 levelling seats. 125 single member constituencies will be elected via FPTP and 175 seats will be elected via closed list proportional representation with a 3% threshold. Parties will release their platforms in the coming days.

The SDP and Greens have announced that they will be contesting the election under the banner of the Social Democratic and Green Coalition, which will only field one candidate in the 125 constituencies, and will also consist of the Progressive Labour Party of ANC 20, the Green Party of ANC 20 and independent candidates affiliated with the SDP. They will present separate lists for the proportional seats however, and the parties will have separate electoral platforms.

The Libertarian League is hoping to break the threshold that has eluded them since their foundation in 2015, falling just .4% below it in 2020.

Slogan: "Stay the Course"

The SDP have pledged to continue the policies the incumbent government was in the process of implementing before the election was called. The SDP is essentially running on the 2023 budget proposal, which includes:

-Supporting sexual and racial minorities by increasing funds to the Ministry of Social Equality to combat hate speech, hate crimes and discrimination
-Implementing workplace democracy giving favourable tax breaks to co-operatives and making unions mandatory for all businesses with over 20 employees
-Phasing out billionaires by implementing a 80% tax on all wealth over $1,000,000,000
-Committing to net zero carbon by 2035, one of the most ambitious targets set internationally
-Sending foreign peacekeepers to Ukraine and funding foreign aid for the country
-Free trade policies with reduced tariffs for countries that meet environmental and social guidelines
-Increasing funds to underdeveloped communities in the east and south of the country to facilitate access to services
-Nationalizing the housing market over a 2 period course to reduce homelessness

Slogan: "Time for Change"

The Greens have stated that they will focus their campaign off of preserving the environment and establishing a "just transition" to a carbon free economy. Their platform includes:

-Committing to net-zero carbon by 2030 by doubling funding to the ministry of environment and transport to create an accessible, completely free high speed rail network across the country
-Compensating workers in carbon dependent industries who are left temporarily unemployed during the transition and giving them free education to learn a new trade in a carbon neutral employment
-Following the COP guideline of establishing 30% of Anatoliyanskiyan territory as protected, with at least 15% of each state being protected
-Investing in lithium-free batteries for vehicles and solar panels
-Moving away from a capitalist economic system by mandating that all workplaces are collectivized
-Ensuring access to abortion at any stage of pregnancy deemed safe by a medical professional
-Free, quality mental health services for members of the LGBT+ community

Slogan: "Seize the Day, vote PC"

The Progressive Conservatives are hoping to regain the votes they lost to the Liberal Democrats in the 2020 election by moderating their policies, though they continue to support moderately socially conservative views. Their platform includes:

-Reducing the budget deficit to a balanced budget over the 4 year term
-Streamlining the process for companies to apply for government grants
-Allowing temporary foreign workers to be employed for a reduced wage
-Making it illegal for essential workers such as doctors and bus operators to strike and fining all striking workers 100 Kharnks per day
-Holding a referendum on same-sex marriage
-Lifting the ban on automobiles, cigarettes, gambling and meat eating
-Banning the use of recreational drugs
-Increasing funding for the military beyond peacekeeping
-Abolishing the Ministry for Social Equality

Slogan: "Rights and Freedoms"

The LDP has presented themselves as a moderate, socially progressive but fiscally responsible third option between the SDP-Greens and Progressive Conservatives. Their platform includes:

-Balancing the budget in the next 4 years
-Mandating that all companies fulfill diversity quotas and have at least half of their executive board be women
-Increase funding for mental health services
-Invest in carbon neutral technologies such as wind, solar and hydro
-Reduce the budget deficit but continue to provide universal healthcare and affordable public transit
-Legalize gambling
-Dedicate 30% of Anatoliyanskiy's land to a protected area by 2030
-Implement free trade deals with reduced tariffs with countries in the region such as China and Japan

Slogan: "Solidarity for All!"

The Communists hope to continue their rise in popular support by getting the left wing voters of the SDP and Greens over to their side, mainly by purging their anti revisionist faction and streamlining party policy. They also benefit from having a full slate of candidates in mainland Anatoliyanskiy for the first time in their history. Their platform includes:

-Collectivizing all privately owned industries and establishing elected worker's boards in their place
-Creating an upper house of directly elected representatives of trade unions and industries
-Writing a new constitution that includes the right to food, water, shelter and work
-Banning landlords and handing over power of co operative housing to tenants unions
-A just transition to a 100% carbon neutral society by 2030
-Replacement of liberal democracy with socialist democracy
-Establishing greater ties with countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Vietnam
-No arms or peacekeeping forces in Ukraine

Slogan: "Liberty, Country, Culture"

The People's Party is hoping to break out of its mainly rural, southern and ethnic Russian support base by making appeals to younger voters in large cities and exhibiting a more firebrand, populist campaign. Their policies include:

-Reducing the budget deficit by defunding public transit, public education and social equality services and the abolition of the Ministry of Social Equality
-Removing all anti-hate speech legislation
-Removing all diversity requirements for jobs
-Establishment of English and Russian as the only official languages of Anatoliyanskiy, defunding of Surdanan language services
-Establishing Anatoliyanskiy as a unitary state with a powerful central government
-Reduction of immigration from non-European countries by 50%
-Requiring asylum seeking immigrants to speak English or Russian fluently or else they will immediately be deported
-Removal of all climate change targets
-Legalization of cars, increasing funding for highways and decreasing funding for high speed rail and public transit
-Restriction of abortion to only the first trimester
-Referendum on same-sex marriage and civil unions
-Re-establishment of the Anatoliyanskiyan Military for defence purposes

Slogan: "Anatoliyanskiy is Free

the Libertarian League is hoping to finally break through the 3% threshold to get proportional seats. They are mainly marketing themselves to young, university educated people who are fiscally conservative but socially progressive and rural voters who are skeptical of government interference. Their platform includes:

-Abolishing the progressive tax scheme in favour of a flat tax rate of 10% of yearly income
-Reducing government expenditure by reducing funding for all government owned programs
-Privatization of all state owned assets including healthcare and public transit
-Establishment of a voucher scheme for schools instead of universal education
-Free trade with no tariffs with countries such as the United States
-Support for abortion at all stages of pregnancy

Breaking News: The SDP has been the first party to formally announce a platform. They will mainly be running on the 2023 budget and focusing on getting a large enough majority to get it passed again.

This question will not be included in the debate as it is not an issue central to the current electoral campaign, however the SDP and Greens were responsible for vegetarianism becoming enforced with the phasing out of meat production entirely. The SDP-Greens also promise to support animal rights and animal welfare, and legislated veterinary care under universal healthcare. The Communists also support the policy of vegetarianism.

All other major parties running are opposed to vegetarianism and support privatizing veterinarian care.

UPDATE: Opinion polls have been released and show the incumbent SDP-Green Coalition polling above expectations, with a good possibility of forming an outright majority government.

SDP-36%
GREENS-14%
PCP-15%
LDP-6%
CP-12%
PP-10%
LL-7%

(polling figures do not include the Surdana Party as they only field candidates in single-member constituencies in Surdana)

The LDP has experienced a shocking decline in support, going from third place in popular vote in 2020 with 18% to a drop of 12% of the vote to a measly 6%. This drop has been attributed to a rise in support for the Libertarians, who are projected to easily pass the threshold and win seats, and some former Liberal Democrats defecting to the SDP. The Greens have also experienced a drop in support, most likely from their more radical wing supporting the Communists.

There is still time to submit questions before the debate on the 28th. If not enough questions are submitted the debate will be moved back to the 2nd of July.

ELECTION UPDATE: The People's Party has been wrought with a scandal as photos of high ranking party members, including the leader of their youth wing, and the deputy party leader have been released showing them attending a rally organized by the Nationalist Party protesting a pride event last year. The Nationalist Party is a far right, neo nazi and white nationalist political party that is under strict surveillance by the government, and having multiple party officials attending a rally organized by it is a very bad look. The party has announced that they will be conducting an internal party investigation, and it will be interesting to see how this influences their polling numbers.

OPINION POLLING:

SDP-36%
GREENS-12%
PCP-16%
LDP-10%

ELECTION UPDATE: The People's Party has experienced a shocking rise in opinion polls, entering a neck and neck race for second place with the PC Party. The scandal has appeared to have if anything aided their party image, as Orselsky claims the government is trying to dirty the party and that the elites of Anatoliyanskiyan society are actively trying to sabotage them. There has also been a record surge of migrants to the country because of renewed unrest in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, which has caused a large amount of backlash from ethnic Anatoliyanskiyans and Russians who are afraid of the country becoming "overwrought with migrants". The SDP-Greens have released a statement condemning xenophobia and urging Anatoliyanskiyans to choose love and not hate, however some more right leaning elements of the SDP have begun to advocate for greater controls on immigration.

OPINION POLLS:

SDP-33%
GREENS-10%
PCP-15%
LDP-6%
CP-11%
PP-14%
LL-11%

There is still time to submit questions for the debate before tomorrow.

What is Anatoliyanskiyan's attitude towards NATO? While the Senate and People of Eclius do not openly endorse any party and/or individuals that are running this election, President Lambert and her senior staff members are keeping a close eye on the polls, as well as each party/individual's values and beliefs. The Senate and People of Eclius want to see a candidate whom we can work with.

2023 ANATOLIYANKIY LEADERS DEBATE

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2023 Leaders' Debate. I am Anna Johnson and I will be your moderator for today's debate, I hope everyone will conduct the discussion in a civil and productive manner. I will ask each leader their opinions on 5 major questions that are central to the campaign for this year's election, and then they will be asked to give a closing statement.

The first question will be: what is your party's opinion on nuclear power?

SDP: I believe that while it may in the short run be a sustainable energy source, in the long run issues that could be caused by it such as toxic waste build up and a disastrous meltdown risk make it an expensive and cost inefficient alternative to already functioning power sources such as wind, solar and hydro.

Greens: Nuclear power is a dangerous and destructive technology that could cause a horrific meltdown that would danger the lives of millions of people. Our government has committed to safer alternatives and under a green government we will not invest a singular Kharnk into nuclear power.

PCP: I think that it is a very efficient source of energy that the government should look into, and the claims that it is dangerous come from two incidents that were caused by simple mismanagement by the government.

LDP: Nuclear power is just one of the many ways Anatoliyanskiy will transition into a carbon free economy, and the government should allocate funds to building at least one power plant to diversify our energy grid.

Communists: Nuclear power is a great source of energy that will become crucial to our transition to a carbon neutral economy. The communists will nationalize all production of nuclear energy to ensure that it is safe and reliable.

PP: Nuclear power is a useless and destructive energy source that has no place in Anatoliyanskiyan society. The climate crisis is being overblown and there is reason for the government to invest in a dangerous energy supply to stop a fake crisis created by the World Economic Forum and the UN.

LL: The libertarians believe that all energy supplies should be privatized and energy companies should have the freedom to create energy for Anatoliyanskiyans without government interference or regulations.

This next question is about your party's stance on LGBT+ rights in Anatoliyanskiy

SDP: The SDP have been proud champions of the rights of the LGBT+ community and we will continue to promote their rights as citizens of our country as long as we are in power. May I remind you that our party legalized same-sex marriage even with opposition from the progressive conservatives and have promoted LGBT rights in the workplace and in broader society. I myself as a bisexual man know the issues the community faces and I will ensure that they will be treated as equals in our society.

Greens: As coalition partners with the SDP we have legislated many LGBT rights into law and have improved the well being of the community immensely. However, there is always more work to be done as we support increasing funds for the Ministry of Social Equality to address disparities faced by the community in terms of mental health and increasing supports for our transgender siblings.

PCP: We believe that same-sex marriage was unconstitutionally pushed through by the government and a referendum on it is required as it redefines the sanctity of marriage in my view. The government should never favour one group over another and as such we should reduce funds that specifically target LGBT individuals.

LDP: The Liberal Democrats are committed to a safe and equal Anatoliyanskiy, and we believe that it is every Anatoliyanskiyan citizen's right to get married and have a loving partner to spend their life with. We should also work towards increasing funds to mental health services to help the community.

Communists: Our LGBT brothers and sisters have long been oppressed by a capitalist society, and under a socialist society they will achieve true liberation as they will no longer be treated as an oppressed group or a minority but rather as comrades who's voices will be represented in democratic workplaces and government.

PP: The LGBT agenda is being pushed by the government and the international elite and we as freedom loving, patriotic Anatoliyanskiyans who respect traditional values should fight against it. This is why there must be a referendum on the illegal legalization of non-traditional marriage, civil unions and adoption.

LL: LGBT rights should be respected and every Anatoliyanskiyan should have the ability to live their freest life possible.

SDP: Our government will continue to promote sustainable and affordable public transit, and the car ban has been very effective in reducing carbon emissions by vehicles by over 80% in the 4 years since its implementation. Agriculture is also an extremely environmentally damaging industry and the mass harvesting of sentient animals is unjust and inhumane. Gambling hurts the average worker and only benefits rich CEOs who scam people out of a hard works pay, and we are proud to stand up for the worker over the 1%.

Greens: These bans were very well received by the population and are completely justified. Public transit is more efficient than cars, phasing meat out of an average diet is a very easy task and gambling is damaging to broader anatoliyanskiyan society.

PCP: These bans are completely unconstitutional and in clear violation of Anatoliyanskiyan's civil rights, which is exacerbated by the fact that they were passed without a referendum. If elected we will repeal all three bans and if they are requested by civil society we will create a referendum process for their implementation.

LDP: I believe that while these regulations are in good faith, they were passed without a referendum or a democratic process and that is what we will implement if elected. The ban on gambling is a violation of private companies rights to establish a market and as such we will immediately repeal that ban.

Communists: We are faced with an ecological and social crisis and because of that we will have to make some sacrifices for the greater benefit of society. That is why we support banning cars and meat as they are harmful to the environment and promote a capitalist, individualistic approach to society that must be phased out if we want to progress. Gambling is a tool by the upper class to steal hard earned money from the pockets of our workers and must be prohibited.

PP: These bans are completely unconstitutional and a violation of our right to choose our mode of transit, our diet and how we want to spend our money. A PP government will reinstate due process and repeal these abhorrent laws.

LL: These are clearly an overstep from big government and we will put and end to these totalitarian policies implemented by a socialist government that is completely out of touch with the needs of a liberal democracy.

SDP: Anatoliyanskiy must put ourselves and other states to the highest standards possible when conducting a free trade deal to ensure that they are sustainable, respectful of worker's rights and mutually beneficial to both parties. However, we cannot simply alienate ourselves from the world and as such deals must be reached with regional powers such as China, Japan and the US so that Anatoliyanskiyans have access to the produce that we cannot create here.

Greens: The Greens believe in progressive, alter-globalization where we co-operate with other countries while ensuring universal rights of people are respected. Once another state has reached the same conclusion, we will begin the process of striking a deal with them.

PCP: Free trade is essential in the modern era to preserve democratic principles and access to products from around the world so as to reduce the cost of products in our country. We will broker free trade deals with regional powers such as China, Japan, and the United States as one of our first actions in office.

LDP: An interconnected world is essential and one of the core values of the LDP. We will implement many multilateral trade agreements with regional powers and ensure co-operation with as many countries as possible.

Communists: Free trade is a neoliberal and destructive policy that only benefits the rich owner class at the expense of every day workers who toil away in unsafe conditions only to have their labour exported thousands of kilometres away to a place where they will never the see the fruits of their creation. We will work to putting an end to this practice and instead co-operate with worker minded countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Cuba and Venezuela to source our foreign products from.

PP: Free trade hurts our local manufacturing sector and we must put an end to a reliance on foreign countries that makes us weak and hurts our domestic workforce. No more harmful and destructive trade deals with powers that want to destroy us. We will also opt out of all international deals such as the G20, G8, WA and UN.

LL: Free trade is mutually beneficial to all parties as it reduces costs and ensures quality products. We will make deals with our allies who believe in freedom and democracy such as the United States to ensure co-operative deals that benefit our society and theirs.

SDP: The SDP is committed to a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine-Russia War, and we will continue our commitment before the election to send a peacekeeping force in Ukraine to protect Ukrainian civilians from this senseless war of aggression.

Greens: Anatoliyanskiy must remain neutral in all foreign conflicts and continue our stance of defending civilians in times of conflict, which is why the Greens support the deployment of our peacekeeping troops in Ukraine.

PCP: The Progressive Conservatives believe that we must protect our allies in Ukraine from an unjust invasion from Russia, which includes sanctions, the deployment of peacekeepers and the donation of weapons and funds to the Ukrainian Military. We will also make joining NATO a priority and increase defence spending.

LDP: Our allies and friends in Ukraine are being senselessly killed by an authoritarian dictatorship and we must commit to sending peacekeeping forces there at once. Furthermore the LDP supports the accession of Anatoliyanskiy to NATO to defend our allies in this time of war.

Communists: The war in Ukraine is a horrific tragedy and a massive failure of international diplomacy on both parts of Ukraine and Russia. We must not involve ourselves in a war that is thousands of kilometres away, which will only continue to contribute to the senseless slaughter of millions of Ukrainians and Russians.

PP: The most important issues are the ones we face at home, such as an increasing number of migrants, the degradation of the values of our society and rampant government authoritarianism. What happens overseas is not a concern of our government.

LL: The Libertarians have a firm non-interventionist stance on all foreign entanglements and taxpayers must not pay for a war that does not concern Anatoliyanskiy or its citizens.

SDP: Our government has, for the past 7 years, delivered on increasing the quality of life for all Anatoliyanskiyans. Whether its ensuring equality for all members of our society in the face of a global rise in xenophobia and homophobia, or making sure the rights of working Anatoliyanskiyans are at the forefront of our government agenda, we are working towards a safe, equal and progressive Anatoliyanskiy that we can all be proud of. Vote SDP to stay the course.

Greens: The Greens for the past 7 years have been working tirelessly in government to ensure that our transition to a carbon free economy is just and equal for all members of our society. We will continue to fight for equality against the interests of the rich and powerful and an environmentally conscious society that values each other and our land. The time for change is now, vote Green!

PCP: In the past half decade, our rights and freedoms in society have been eroded due to reckless government spending that has resulted in one of the highest debts in the world and undemocratic decision making. In government we will make sure that Anatoliyanskiy is a world leader in business and ensure that our economy gets back on track by reducing red tape and allowing companies to flourish. It's time to seize the day and vote PC!

LDP: We, as an opposition party, have been working towards a free and equitable Anatoliyanskiy that respects people's individual rights to liberty, equity, and democracy. We will get our economy back on track by reducing spending while still providing world class services in healthcare and public transit, and continuing the fight against gender, race and sexuality based discrimination and violence. Vote for your rights and freedoms, vote Liberal Democrat!

Communists: The Communist Party is the only party that supports equality for all people in Anatoliyanskiy regardless of their economic or social status because we are the only party that has the courage to believe in another world beyond a mindless profit driven society that benefits only a wealthy select few and leaves everyone else to fend for themselves. Together, we can achieve a democratic society by giving workers control of their own workplace and destroying private property and housing. The time for solidarity for all is here, vote Communist!

PP: Our society has consistently been under attack by interests that would like to see our hard working, honest citizens relegated as second class and given minority status in the country that their ancestors built centuries ago. We must defend our culture, our traditions and our way of life against an international elite that is working against us day in and day out. Defend liberty, culture and country and vote PP!

LL: The Libertarians are the only political force that is dedicated to ensuring liberty for all Anatoliyanskiyans and giving them their rights back after a constant attack by a socialist and totalitarian government that has the audacity to fight against our hard earned civil liberties. We must regain our freedom and vote Libertarian!

ELECTION UPDATE Post debate opinion polls show that Alexei Orselsky performed the best at the debate, followed by Anatoli Piesiyackiya and Boris Lipesky, and the least convincing was Joanne Blofield who many saw as giving unsatisfactory and neutral answers to important issues.

Large campaign rallies are also underway, including an incidence of violence at a People's Party rally that was protested by the Communists. As the People's Party held a rally attended by speakers such as far-right social media personality Vladimir Petrov who has been known for white nationalist rhetoric and ties to the Nationalist Party, the Communist Party organized a counter-rally that attracted about 500 people to the 1000 participants of the PP rally. As the two groups have vastly different ideologies, chaos quickly ensued and police were unable to contain the crowds who descended to violence and began a large riot downtown. When riot police were finally able to contain the crowds, multiple stores had been damaged and 20 people had to be taken to the hospital. Leaders of all major political parties condemned the violence besides the leaders of the Communist Party and PP. Boris Lipesky released a statement calling for "all Anatoliyanskiyans to unite against fascism and intolerance that will divide the working class into pointless infighting", while Alexei Orselsky stated that "all unpatriotic commies deserve a good ol reality check once in a while" on twitter.

OPINION POLLS:

SDP-35%
GREENS-9%
PCP-13%
LDP-5%
COMMUNISTS-12%
PP-16%
LL-10%

An invitation was sent out via. encrypted network to the Social Democratic Party. There was a request for the Social Democratic Party of Anatoliyanskiy to send a representative to Eclius to meet with President Lambert's personal envoy. If accepted, the meeting will take place in a third-party country, a fancy hotel in Bangkok. This is the typical procedure for diplomatic meetings where the involvement of Eclisian government cannot be known.

The SDP agrees to a meeting with the Eclius envoy to discuss diplomatic affairs and relations post-election.

A lengthy discussion occurred in The Cynosure inside President Lambert's office regarding the elections on Anatoliyanskiy. The senior officials of Eclius are somewhat divided on the matter. On one end, Eclisian officials believe the government of Eclius should support the PCP, citing its tough diplomatic policies on Russia, eagerness to join NATO, and lifting the ban on automobiles. Eclius, as a major nuclear power in the middle east, would like to see someone who is tough to Russia and a leader who is willing to collaborate with NATO. On the other hand, based on the poll results and an estimate from senior diplomats in Eclius, it is deemed that it's unlikely for PCP to win the election. Not to mention supporting the PCP will lead to diplomatic issues. First, Eclius much prefer not to be seen physically meddling with the election in other countries (since Eclius has, in the past, accused both Russia and US of "rigging the elections"). Second, if SDP wins the election, it will drag the Eclisian government into an awkward spot. Ultimately, it was decided that Eclius should engage in active dialogues with all sides, especially the leader of SDP.

There is much that needs to be discussed, though these will have to happen post-election in Anatoliyanskiy. In the meantime, a top-secret order was made directly from President Marslie Lambert to the Bureau of Cyber Security (Eclius' NSA) to gather necessary information and "intels" on all of the candidates, specifically Anatoli Piesiyackiya. However, President Lambert felt confident about working with Piesiyackiya...as long as he is willing to side with the West.

Furthermore he believes that western countries do not share Anatoliyanskiy's commitment to human rights and equality and he also does not want to threaten potential trade deals with regional partners such as China. His decision to send peacekeepers to Ukraine was to protect civilians as he does not want to clearly support either side of the war.

ELECTION UPDATE: The PP has officially broke from the herd and is now polling at a solid second place, which is a shock to many political observers and politicians, especially those on the right who have long supported the Progressive Conservatives as the major right wing party in Anatoliyanskiy. The SDP has also enjoyed a large uptick in support after the debate as Piesiyackiya is very popular with the electorate and left-wing voters are rallying behind them to stop the surge of support for the PP. Piesiyackiya has quelled the unrest in his party by condemning all forms of xenophobia and taking hard stance against immigration reform, stating that the current system works fine and that the left must not give in to fearmongering by the far-right.

President Lambert decided to take a cautious approach to the election in Anatoliyanskiy. However, a secret message was nevertheless sent out to the leader of PCP, request a meeting between their representatives and President Lambert's personal envoy. President Lambert would like this meeting take place before the election. An invitation was sent to senior officials of the PCP parties, to attend a gala at a lavish mansion in Hokkaido, Japan. The name of the host was indicated as Noriko Fujino, a Japanese socialite and entrepreneur, who is secretly linked to Pantheon Group, a multi-trillion dollar tech company in Eclius, and the biggest source of power for President Lambert's family. If accepted, the representatives from PCP will meet with Noriko, as well as senior members of the Pantheon Group who will serve as President Lambert's envoy. If a deal is reached, Pantheon Group will pull strings in the shadow, using its vast financial wealth, technologies and influence to support PCP's campaign.

The PCP agrees to the meeting with Noriko and the President's envoy, hoping to increase ties with the government of Eclius and his party. Political parties receiving donations from foreign companies and governments is strictly forbidden in Anatoliyanskiyan electoral law, and this meeting itself is legally questionable so Korgesky and his envoy must proceed with caution. As such, he has not notified the party council or membership of the meeting and if it is released it will become a large scandal that could further hurt the party's collapsing support.

ELECTION UPDATE: With only 7 days left until the election, parties have announced their coalition preferences for the upcoming parliament:

The SDP would prefer a majority coalition with their traditional governing partner, the Green Party, however they would also be willing to work with the Communist Party and LDP. They have officially ruled out a coalition agreement with the PCP, PP and Libertarians.

The Greens will only work with the SDP and Communist Party, however they would agree to a support agreement with the LDP.

The PCP will be willing to form a coalition with the Libertarians, and a support agreement with the LDP. They have also not ruled out a possible support agreement with the PP, drawing criticism from some more liberal factions within the party.

The LDP is willing to form a coalition with either the SDP or PCP, however only under the condition that the latter party would not hold a referendum on same-sex marriage. They have ruled out a coalition with all other political parties.

The Communists have stated that they will only support a SDP-Green government under the condition that they cut funding for the peacekeeping forces in favour of increasing funds for workplace co-operatives.

The PP has stated that they would join a government with the PCP and Libertarians to form a coalition that would topple the existing left-wing government.

the Libertarians would be willing to join a coalition with the PCP and PP as long as they agree not to restrict civil rights for LGBT individuals.

OPINION POLLS:

SDP-38%
GREENS-8%
PCP-12%
LDP-7%
COMMUNISTS-11%
PP-15%
LL-10%
