Your Nation's Creation Myth

[Gordonopia]

This is the story of the creation of the universe according to Gordonopian theology:

In the beginning there were three deities, namely: Korkein Luoja, the creator of the universe, Päähenkilö -lta Kynttilä, the god of love and light, and Haltija Pahuus, the god of chaos and destruction. These three gods formed what is known as the Kehä -lta Eksponentti, or Triumvirate of Power. They existed in relative harmony for many, many eons until the squabbling of Päähenkilö -lta Kynttilä and Lord Pahuus became very violent indeed. There was a great war in the Myyttisyys Asettaa, or Mythic Space (the Gordonopian name for the abode of the gods). Before the war began, numerous other gods and goddesses were begotten. They chose sides in the conflict and fought accordingly. The deities who sided with the forces of light were called the Joukko -lta Hyvä, or Forces of Good. Those who sided with the forces of darkness were called the Joukko -lta Korkein Häijy, or Forces of Supreme Evil. After many thousands and thousands of years, the battle continued to rage. Both sides had suffered significant casualties, however they continued to fight valiantly. Finally, Korkein Luoja, who had remained neutral throughout the course of the conflict, sided with the forces of Evil. It is said that he decided to do this because he was tired of Päähenkilö -lta Kynttilä and his Narcissistic personality traits. However, this is just heresy.

Now with the Supreme Creator of the Universe on his side, Lord Pahuus was almost certainly guaranteed victory. However, there was a catch. After all of the forces of good were obliterated except for Päähenkilö -lta Kynttilä, Korkein Luoja had a change of heart. As the three deities stood in a standoff, Korkein Luoja attacked Lord Pahuus and attempted to take his life. However, Lord Pahuus was already expecting such treachery. As Korkein Luoja rounded on him, Lord Pahuus pulled out the mythic Risti -lta Kalma or Dagger of Death and stabbed him right in the face. As he was dying, he turned to Lord Pahuus and pronounced a curse upon him for all eternity. The words of the curse have been sealed up in the Great Book and are not to be uttered here, however one can rest assured that they were pretty scathing. As he finished his utterance, Lord Pahuus again stabbed him, but this time in the heart, ending his life. Seeing the creator of the gods dead, Päähenkilö -lta Kynttilä turned to Pahuus and offered himself a sacrifice. His last words were "Toukokuu minun oikeudentuntoinen kalma olla merkki -lta lempiä ja järjestys ajaksi aivan -lta generointi ainiaaksi ja aina." This statement roughly translates as "May my righteous death stand as a symbol of love and peace to all generations forever and ever". Then, after these words, Pahuus smote Päähenkilö -lta Kynttilä, effectively ending his life. Now, only one god reigned supreme.

After surveying all of the blessed carnage around him, Lord Pahuus turned to the body of Korkein Luoja. He glimpsed the sacred Staff of Judgment, which he took for himself. Now that he wielded this sacred staff, Lord Pahuus effectively controlled the universe. He established the earth and human beings to be his slaves. He resurrected his fallen comrades in evil who had perished during the Great Battle. He took his seat atop the Gordonopian pantheon, which consists only of malevolent deities. Finally, he created the Empire of Gordonopia for his benefit. The ultimate goal was to have a perfect nation on the earth that could represent him in all of his affairs. This was the case for thousands and thousands of years. However, the Empire eventually lost touch with the old traditions and turned into a secular, democratic state. However, in 1978 with the ascent of Emperor Gordon I, the old traditions were restored and today the Empire stands as a beacon of hate and malevolence to all of the world. Lord Pahuus once again governs his sacred kingdom through his servant Emperor Gordon II.

In the begining there was nothing. But then a flash of luight lit up the eternal nothing and three eggs were created. The eggs hatched and then from those eggs there came life! This life was in the form of three gods. There was the god of chaos, the goddess of unity and the god of wisdom. These gods were the god of water, the god of fire, the god of air, the god of ground, the goddess of hope, the god of war and the god of hatred.

The gods were bored and they needed somthing to keep them occupied...and that is how far the creation myth went untill the police came and arrested and executed the clergy who worked for the holy emperor who is the grandson and god of the gods.

That knowledge is treated as a theory and accepted though they are always seeking a more definitive answer, never satisfied with what they know.

In the days before the collective memory of man, elf, dwarf or troll can reach the world was in a state of chaos. Daemons and dragons fought for control of the world while the lesser intelligent creatures fought with one another for survival. In the middle of this chaos did a beautiful rose grow. And as it grew did it watch and waited learning what it could from the world around it. For centuries did the holy flower learn from the world around it until one day a mighty tribe of trolls decided to make their home by a nearby river. Amongst the trolls lived the daughter of their chief who liked nothing more than wander the forest alone for hours and one day did she cast her eyes on the magnificent rose that grew there. Totally overwhelmed by its beauty did she spend the night in its holy embrace and three days later did she gave birth to its daughter. The troll chieftain however was outraged by his daughter’s crime and in the lack of intelligence common to his kind did he order the rose brunt. But as the flames rose higher and higher from the holy flower did they not harm it and when the trolls tried to put the flames out were they met with no success. For three days and nights did the flower burn and on the third day did the rose finally turned to ashes but from them did a man arose. His eyes as blue as the sky and his hair were as golden hay and his face were almost blinding so handsome it was. As the trolls whom had guarded the burning rose laid their eyes on him were they overtaken by fear and he used their moment of weakness to slay them all. From the ashes of the rose he were born and roses that had grown beside him did he make a sword and armor woven with magic and ancient knowledge. Armed with this did he track the trolls to their home and even here did he slay them all in a horrible battle that lasted almost from dawn to dusk. but as the last of them fell were he satisfied and he had his revenge and his daughter with whom he set out to finally bring order to the chaotic world.
