Just curious to know if there are any messed up laws, policies, events, etc. in YN. Could be something current, historical, or whatever.

I’ll start this one off.

The most messed up thing in Vertillia is that police brutality goes unquestioned here and if someone is shown to have been repeatedly resisting physically, then the officers would be 100% justified in their actions of excessive force and not face any consequences for them.

Currently, the most messed up thing in The Hivemind is the fact there are no rules against the suppression of religion, save it needs to be suppressed.

These days the most messed up thing is the historical revisionists who deny Tangatarehua's past atrocities, as well as the surprisingly large number of people who actively oppose democracy and want to return to being an absolute monarchist/militarist dictatorship.

Tangatarehua's past is extremely messed up of course, given that it spent a huge chunk of the 20th century invading neighbouring countries and literally eating the people they conquered.

However, if such a situation ever did arise, or conditions made those criteria much easier to meet, then the artillery firing squad would be the method used.


Oh, and depending on your point of view, you might find the existence of a state religion to be messed up.

Its probably the threatment of Arabs in the nation they are not very welcome here. Males above the age of 16 are either sold as slaves or used as forced labourers females aged 18 and above recive "normal" rights under the condition they are in a relationship with 1st class citizen of German (regardless of ethnic background). The ones that dont recive slave status past the age of 30 are killed or deported to the middle east women that dont have a relationship past 40 are either killed or send back to the middle east (mostly killed on the way to).

1st class Europeans, sub sahara Africans, most Asians, Kurds, Turks.

Another pretty messed up thing is that in 2 Confederate States (namely Northern Somalia and Southern Arabia) polygamy is legal (but don't worry,it will be probably be outlawed there too in the next couple of years)

Slavery: After the king went missing Regent Clarence ordered those who he deemed a mockery of nature be enslaved or killed, the result of which has killed millions.

Genocide: We kill a large portion of people living on planets through planet cracking.
Pollution: The homeland is a huge industrial complex, the pollution wafts over and it causes multiple health issues for neighboring countries. Sometimes we lope it in with chemical warfare.

Oh boy, there are several messed up things about Fortuna and Melodia.

To begin with, illegal substance users are considered to be responsible for drug trafficking, as according to Fortunese law, without demand, there is no market. As such, drug users are often considered the "lowest of the low", and are often jailed in the worst prisons - that is, when they are not shot on sight.

Fortunese prisons are commonly referred to as "Earthly purgatories", due to their brutal, hellish environment. Forget televisions and beds: inmates sleep on the cold ground and the only thing that entertains those same inmates are prison fights, which are often instigated by security guards. The average lifespan in a prison is 3 to 4 years.

Other messed up things in Fortuna and Melodia include gladiator fights to the death (using top-notch technology), state-sponsored forced marriages (I will NOT go into details), and several unethical scientific experiments that created hybrid monstrosities (an urban legend that turned out to be true).
