A brief history

The history of Anagonia is all but forgotten in the peoples mind from a period of mass amnesia known as the Great Slumber. No one remembers the events that led up to the mass amnesia nor the conditions of their landscape prior. The only information available to the people is through a series of books written by Oscar Vladinchi, proclaimed the Great Rememberer after he spoke to a national audience. The military played a key role in banding together the seven separate and unstable territories that dotted across a new land mass. Through this peaceful unification through military intervention a system of government was established under the supervision of Oscar Vladinchi, whom then retired from both public office and view to let the fledgling nation form a new destiny.

Signs of stability soon followed with the successful election of Jason Paladin for the Office of the Presidency and the First Congress of the Confederacy. The territories were starting to work together for a unified purpose as the people went back to their normal lives. The Confederate Military grew in recognition and was soon placed in a critical role of ensuring the future stability of the fledgling nation. Elected Officials and Military Commanders worked together to cement the foundations of trade between the territories and initiate once more the frightening economy power that made a previous incarnation so successful. Soon the territories gained statehood in their own right, enforcing a new civilization amongst their People.

In modern day Anagonia, the Confederate government maintains a simple balance between the states and the military that is privileged to ensure its existence. While the People maintain the civil rights that their unknown forefathers had long ago, they give up most of their political freedoms under the guise of a Constitutional Republic.

Geography of the Confederate States
Image

Guide: A = State of Arkansis; B = State of Lexington; C = State of Orgath; D = State of Liberty; E = State of Plymouth; F = State of Saratoga; G = State of Imperium.

The land mass of Anagonia varies in its beauty and its horrors. To the east great plains dominate the scenery. In the center of the State of Imperium lies the Saratoga National Forest which houses a huge amount of forest preserve. In the center protected almost fully on all sides is Lake Richard, fed by the mighty Tiberius River. To the north is the long mountainous border with the Religious Democracy of Trivval.

Tempest Island is located between a large collection of islands west of the nation at the beginning of the August Ocean. It is notable for Mount Tempest which rises just a thousand feet above sea level. A natural forest surrounds the dormant volcano supporting a variety of wildlife. Most of the cities lay to the east of the island where the land is a bit more suitable for construction. Everything to the west is mostly uninhabited with the exception of a military installation. East of the Tempest Island Chain is the Edgar Islands, dominated by the heavily forested and tropical Edgar Island. It is the start of the Anagonian Bay, which extends to the shore of western Anagonia.

The western land mass is mostly forested grasslands. In the center of the western mass are two great mountain ranges. The first, furthermost to the east, is Mount Liberty. It rises over twenty thousand feet sporting a healthy white cap. To the north west, Mount Liberty ends abruptly cut off through the middle where the Orgath Mountain Range begins. Five peaks march southward down the range, each progressively lowering in size from the dominant skyline view of Mount Liberty. Surrounding the well produced Mount and Range is the Wan'To National Forest, which ends gracefully surrounding Lake Poko to the north west.

Economy of the Confederate States

Economy - Overview

The Confederate States has established firmly a market-oriented economy depending on the private individual and business to maintain it with little interference from the central government. The state governments within the Confederate States occasionally purchase needed supplies from the private marketplace with little to no help from any state-owned business. The Arms Manufacturing Industry and other corporations enjoy great leeway in the market-oriented economy with little interference from the central government. Limitations are put into place only by state governments with heavy limitations and restrictions only considered enforced if a majority of states agree. The current economy is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing Industry and an up-and-coming Aerospace Industry at the forefront of Aerospace Technology. The Ship Manufacturing Industry comes as a close third being supported by the Mining Industry which dominates state economies. The Agricultural Industry comes at a lazy fourth and maintains a stable rise in support of the nations needs. The Private Business is also supported in the economic conditions by a Stock Market established in agreement between the states to ensure a fair market for all individuals and small business vs. major corporations.

Government of the Confederate States
Image
First National Flag of the Confederate States, Representing the Nation

Government Overview

The Government of the Confederate States was created to accommodate the needs of the peoples based off the needs of the States within the Confederacy. This process of respecting states rights while maintaining a strong democratic tradition of and by the People is assisted by the Confederate Military, which oversees and enforces the rights of the people via civil order. Working closely with both the Military, which could easily be central government based, and the independent state governments themselves through a Congressional Assembly, the Confederate States maintains a wide and diverse system of governance.

The collaboration of the states enforces the technical application of a Republic. It is important to note that while the states themselves enforce the theory of a national republic, they still maintain sovereign rights under the Constitution and therefore the Confederate States is best described as a Constitutional Republic.

Military of the Confederate States

Image
Battle Flag of the Confederate States, Representing the Military

Military - Overview

The Confederate States Armed Forces was established originally under one branch, the First Army of the Confederacy. After two years the Military formalized into specific branches once it successfully reached out to the outlying territories, forming itself into a coherent fighting force capable of defending the new found nation. Its overall strength and capability continues to increase as more join to both provide civil order to the nation and train future generations for possible avenues of expansion.

Currently under the Confederate Government the individual States maintain a standing army and contribute forces to the National Armed Forces. Through this procedure it is ensured that in times of extreme crises the states themselves are capable of maintaining law and order. The concern of state separation exists, therefore under those circumstances the Military itself is obligated to follow its own Founding Law and abide by the Will of the People instead of the Will of the Government.

The branches are organized into Generations. Presently all branches are under the First Generation of Command. In the future when commanding officers over each branch eventually retire or when policy changes, the generations will advance to signal the evolution of said branch. It not only denotes prestige and respect but exposes the more traditional branches over the more experienced.

National Seal of the Confederate States

Image
Words read: Pro Licentia of Vir quod Justicia ut Totus

Description
The National Seal of the Confederate States came into being early on during the unification after the Great Slumber. As the military progressed across the land, sometimes meeting heavy resistance, they needed an emblem to represent themselves. The story goes that on a modest evening after a great victory a young man in a recently liberated village was so jubilant about being freed from the villages oppressors that he made a shield for the commander of the Confederate forces in the region. The commander soon gained recognition and upon bearing the shield along with his rifle during a meeting with Oscar Vladinchi, the Great General decided to make it the official seal of the fledgling nation.

The young man was never found again, according to the legend, but he gave an explanation of the meaning of the shield. The words are in Latin meaning from top to bottom "For Liberty of Man and Justice to All". The red coloring within the greeko-spartan shield and border represents the Blood of Honor within the Soldiers of Liberation. The blue encompassing the motto of the seal represents the Duty which is to be undertaken at all times with Wisdom and Knowledge. The White surrounding the greeko-spartan helm represents the Purity of Man and the Truth and Honor he must hold within himself about all causes he undertakes. The helmet itself represents the Obligation of every man to stand for these ideals and be ready to take with him all meanings and truths of the seal.

Confederate States Space Program

Image
Flag of the Confederate States Space Program, representing the Peaceful Exploration of Space

The Confederate States Space Program came into existence after the Military found and reactivated several space ports and facilities left abandoned during the Great Slumber. Once the nation as a whole unified into a coherent entity, funds and resources were transferred into these facilities to reactivate whole networks of satellites and restore space-capable vehicles for continued exploration. Many new developments and lost technologies were regained thanks to the efforts of the fledgling space program.

As a required rule, the leadership of the Confederate States Space Program is kept in the civilian sector with minimal advisement from the Military. However it should be noted that the military does operate within the Space Program under the guise of "National Defense", though this is kept classified from the public due to possible conflict of interests.

Confederate Military Custom Weapons Platforms
Ships, Weapons, Vehicles and Aircraft made or purchased for or by the Confederate States

Ground Soldier Weapons

Semi-Automatic Rifles
S/A AdkM75 Semi-Automatic Rifle
Purchased and Designed Model
Image

The S/A AdkM75 was designed by Strovaria-Aldkhaznywrengh Armaments specifically for use by the Confederate Marine Corps. The combination of unique alloys and the structure of the weapon make it capable of withstanding the harshest of environments, perfect for any Marine in the field. It fires the standard 7.62 NATO round currently in use by Anagonian forces. The weapon itself is semi-automatic and capable of extremely accurate shots up to five hundred yards. A single clip holds twenty(20) rounds and comes standard with four clips per rifle. It comes with the optional Tactical Sight Optics that can be utilized when encountering long range forces or for more accurate shots.

The S/A AdkM75 is easily maintained. The rifle comes a part in three sections taking a total of a minute to complete. For the standard Marine to maintain the weapon, they would first detach the butt using a provided allen wrench inside the butt. They would then unscrew the barrel from the frame and from there easily detach the parts that make up the firing mechanism and other relevant parts. From there, tests have shown that proper cleaning takes up to two minutes followed by an additional minute to put the weapon back together. In total, a standard operator should only have to spend four minutes to properly maintain the S/A AdkM75.

The "S/A" Stands for Strovaria-Aldkhaznywrengh. The "A" stands for Anagoniakhornii, translated as Anagonian. The "dk" stands for Damkhril Kogr, translated as "small arm". The "M" stands for Mrenkhenr, translated as "rifle". 75 is the designation number given by the manufacturer.

Light Carriers
Boxer-Class Light Carrier(CVL)
Purchased Model
Image

When in a situation where a Fleet Carrier is considered overkill, but requires airpower, there’s only one thing that can scratch that itch, a Light Aircraft Carrier. To fulfill this need, Hypersphere Technologies has developed the Boxer-Class CVL. Having been in service for several years now in the Belkan Kaiserliche Marine, the Boxer is a capable warship with enough firepower to tackle a small fleet on its own.

The air wing for the Boxer can vary, but due to the size of the elevators, the planes are limited in size to smaller aircraft such as the Harrier & Hornet with the E-2 as the largest it’ll hold. While for regular carriers this would be a fatal flaw, the Boxer is a light carrier and Harriers & Hornet-size aircraft are just what was envisioned being operated from her decks. But the air wing isn’t the only bit of offensive hardware at the Boxer’s disposal. Mounted just behind the Island is a 36 cell Mk. 41 Strike-length VLS, capable of holding any missiles that’ll fit in the VLS system. The standard payload with in the Belkan Kaiserliche Marine is 8 Fasthawks, 8 VLS Harpoons, & 36 ESSM for defense. Supporting the ESSMs is a Phalanx Bk. II mount on top of the bridge and a SeaRAM just past the Mk. 41 VLS.

Among the many sensors on board the Boxer is the prominent radar mast. Based on the Thales APAR X-Band radar, the Hoffnung Technologies designed Camelot Radar Mast is an improvement to the APAR as its effective range has been increased from 150 km to 225 km. Mounted on top of the Camelot Mast is another product from Hoffnung, the LIGHT-M VLR S-Band Radar meant to detect any incoming aircraft long before it reached the Carrier, up to 400km out.

Battleships
North Carolina-Class BBGN
Purchased Model
Image

After the Fletcher-Class FFG was designed and construction started, a proposal was put further by the team of engineers who developed the Fletcher. Called the Stealth Fleet Initiative, design and built a series of ships based on the general design of the Zumwalt & Fletcher classes to create all the ships needed to form an All Stealth Fleet. To fill the Battleship role, the North Carolina-Class Nuclear-powered Guided Missile Battleship was created.

Like the other ships in the Stealth Fleet Initiative, the North Carolina-Class was named after a famous WWII Era Class Leader of the same type of ship, in this case, the Battleship North Carolina. When it became time for the SFI Committee to name the ship, 4 names were put forth; Iowa, Montana, South Dakota, & North Carolina. The first two names were struck almost immediately due to both ships still being in service with navies around the world. As for the last two, the committee was divided to the point that a coin toss was used to choose the name, Heads for NorCar & Tails for SouDak. Needless to say, the coin landed on Heads.

Her design is that of a Trimaran, a main hull with 2 outrigger hulls that hold the secondaries and extra aviation fuel for the helicopters that operate off the North Carolina. The Trimaran design was chosen due to it being a very stable gun platform and the speed increase that comes with the design. To cut down on costs, the North Carolina-Class shares many features with its smaller cousin in the Stealth Fleet Initiative, the Alaska-Class Cruiser. Among these are its power plant, sonar package, and the biggest of all, the Deck House with all the radars.

While she doesn’t have the number of guns that her namesake has, the North Carolina’s 8 16” guns fire several different types of shells & rounds which puts this modern ship ahead of her older incarnation. The standard shell fired from her is a product out of Birkaine, a Scramjet Assisted Armor Piercing High Explosive (SJ-APHE) Shell.
Image

Other shells fired are bomblet dispensing shell, a Sabot round utilizing a Base Sabot and a 8” ERGM, and the normal High Explosive shell. To compliment the North Carolina’s big guns is 14 5” secondary guns based on the AGS & the Mk. 45 Mod 4. Using the mount of the AGS as a base, it was fitted to the proven Mk. 45 Mod 4 gun and its below deck autoloader. In addition to the gun of the North Carolina are 208 Strike-Length VLS Cells mounted on the sides of the helicopter landing pad. To defend the North Carolina are 5 25mm Linebacker CIWS & ESSMs from the Mk. 57 PVLS.

Lexington-Class Battlecarrier
Purchased Custom-Designed Model
Image

During the recent Marine landings on foreign soil, the Armed Forces found that they lacked a platform that could both deliver devastating damage and carry forward a small expeditionary force capable of dealing with Police Actions. So the Confederacy commissioned the Imperial Royal Shipyards to design and construct a platform capable of delivering the desired results. After a lengthy process, the Lexington-Class Battlecarrier was soon completed.

Designed and created by Dewhurst-Narculis engineers, it was modified to have the rear of ship be a carrier VTOL deck for launching VTOL fighter craft and helicopters. The middle and fore are totally reminiscent of the Iowa-class Battleship which has served the Confederate Marines well during their times. Missile launchers complete the picture making the Lexington-Class an extremely capable fighting machine.

The Arapaho Class Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG) was designed for use by the Pennsylvanian Federal Republic Navy as a replacement for the Navies otherwise capable but slightly under armed Air Defense Destroyers. Part of the requirement for the design was that it have greater multipurpose capability than the navies previous destroyers.

Armament

The Arapaho Class Destroyer carries a multitude or armaments, consisting of multiple Close in Weapon Systems (CIWS), a 127mm Rapid Fire Cannon mount located on the foredeck of the ship, as well as a highly respectable amount of Vertical Launch Cells as well as dedicated Anti-Shipping Missile Launchers and six 324mm torpedo tubes.

The Arapaho class carries 144 Vertical Launch Cells, capable of taking missiles such as the Lyran Hellion or Hellion II, RGM-109 Tomahawk, the Standard Missile Series (SM1, 2, 3 and 6), VL-Harpoon and VL-ASROC. These cells give the ship a incredible multi-purpose capability, allowing it to attack all types of foreseeable targets, whether they be on land, at sea, undersea, or in the air.

Located on the foredeck of the ship is a single 127mm 62 Caliber Rapid Fire Mount, intended to provide a deterrence against opposing small vessels that have managed to get close to the vessel, limited ability against fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and a effective defense at range from Speedboats. The gun is capable of attaining a rate of fire of around 20 rounds per minute, and carries an ammunition storage of 750 rounds of varying types.

Located amidships is a pair of triple 324mm torpedo tubes, one on each side. These tubes are intended to allow for the ship to embark with a number of small torpedoes, such as the American Mk50 or Mk54 Torpedoes, or the Pennsylvanian Mk84 LAAST. These enable the ship to have limited hitting power against close in submarines, as well as smaller surface vessels such as Patrol boats and Offshore Patrol Vessels.

Located on each side of the ships exhaust stacks is a single universal Close In Weapons System (CIWS) mount. The choice to use a universal mount allows for the use of a wide variety of CIWS Systems, such as Phalanx, Goalkeeper, Kashtan, Millenium Gun, and Sea Senith. However, the primary intended armament of these mounts is that of the Kashtan system, or similar, and thus allocates room for the reloading and storing of the systems missiles.

Finally, located directly in front of and below the Ships Bridge, as well as on top of the ships helicopter hanger is a pair of 21 Cell Point Defense Missile (PDM) Launchers, intended to fire missiles such as the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM). These provide a highly capable point defense against incoming missiles and low flying aircraft for the class.

Aircraft

The Arapaho Class of destroyers carry full accommodations for up to two SH-60 sized helicopters, enabling the ships to be able to conduct ASW and other operations over the horizon from the ship to a degree. This also enables the ship to remain safely out of range from enemy combatants, namely enemy submarines.

Electronics

Since the Arapaho Class Guided Missile Destroyer has a primarily multirole purpose, the ship has a highly capable sonar suite alongside that of a highly Capable Anti-Air and Anti-Surface Suite.

For the ships one role of Anti-Submarine Warfare, its sonar suite consists of the PAC11 Bow Mounted Active & Passive Sonar, and its accompanying PAC11 Passive Towed Array Sonar. The bow mounted sonar carries a very powerful Active Set, used to detect submarines by detecting the pockets of air located within the hull used to ballast the ship and keep the crew alive. It also mounts a very sensitive Passive sonar system, used to detect submarines through the sound that is emitted through its hull pushing water aside and its propeller cutting through the water, among others. The passive sonar is only able to detect units in front of the ship however, because the noise from the Belzoni classes own propellers produce too much noise for it to hear any submarine coming up from behind. This is the reason for the use of a Towed Array Sonar on the ship as well. The PAC11 towed array is slightly unique from most other Towed Arrays, as instead of consisting of just one cable and one set of sound receivers, the PAC11 instead has two of each these, allowing the ship using it to float one above the thermal layer and one below. This allows the maximum amount of detection capability available. The PAC11 is sensitive enough that it is theoretically possible to hear sounds originating from more than 500km away, though at any distance approaching these ranges accuracy is anything but reliable.

For Surface and Air Search purposes, the ship uses an multipurpose long range radar, the PEI9900 Long Range Multipurpose Radar. The PEI9900 can trace its ancestry back to the PEI-9940 Long Range Multipurpose Radar, which is now a feature on nearly every major Pennsylvanian Combatant. The PEI9900 is capable of detecting low Radar Cross Section Targets at medium to long ranges. Below is a short table of some of the detection ranges of a PEI9900 Radar onboard a Belzoni Class Frigate.

Range figures are based on the Radars 24m Above Sea Level Height onboard the ship. All figures are also based on the target having a RCS of between 0.01m2 and 1m2.

@10m – 33.245km
@20m – 38.647km
@50m – 49.365km
@100m – 61.445km
@500m – 112.422km
@1000m – 150.620km
@5000m – 311.823km
@10000m – 432.616km
@15000m – 525.304km
@20000m – 603.443km

The PEI9900 is also capable of acting a Surface search radar, using the same figures are above based on ship height, resulting in a detection distance of about 31-47km.It is capable of tracking up to 750 Aerial Targets and up to 25 Naval Targets. The radar also has a built in fire Control system, able to guide up to 18 Surface to Air missile to Aerial Targets, or able to guide up to 8 Anti-Shipping Missiles to their targets. This allows the ship too, despite its small size and relatively small armament, to remain a potent force on the battlefield to most types of targets.

The last major piece of the ships Electronic Suite would be the Pennsylvania Electronic’s Incorporated Ship Self Defense Suite (SSDS), a program integrated with the ships Air Search Radar that designates the targets on the radar in terms of threat, and prioritizes them for Interception. The system is quite similar to the AEGIS Air Defense System found in some American Ships, namely the Ticonderoga Class Cruiser and the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer.

The System prioritizes targets based on their radar signature. For example, if the target is detected and showed to be a slow moving, low altitude, straight flying, small target heading straight towards the ship, and has a surface search radar signature, would probably be classified as a sea skimming Anti-Shipping Missile (AShM), and would receive higher priority from the ships defense systems than a aircraft such as a F-15 Eagle, due to the significantly lower threat to the ship that the F-15 represents over that of the Anti-Shipping Missile.

The program is able to classify, designate, and prioritize every target on the radar screen within 5 seconds of detection. The different classifications that the SSDS Program recognizes include CM(Cruise Missile), AShM (Anti-Shipping Missile), SAM/AAM(Surface to Air/Air to Air Missile), F(Fighter), B(Bomber), AT (Aerial Transport) and others.

The Tenskwatawa Class Nuclear Attack Submarine (SSN) was a class of submarine designed by the Philadelphia Shipbuilding Corporation alongside the Tecumseh Class Diesel Electric Attack Submarine, which was intended as a export only submarine. While its conventional counterpart, the Tecumseh Class, was intended as a solely export vessel, the Tenskwatawa Class was intended as a dual purpose submarine, being offered to the Pennsylvanian Navy as a replacement for its Yanitarian Designed Voleur Class Nuclear Attack Submarines, and as a submarine to offer for export.

Eventually, the Pennsylvanian Navy decided to go with the Philadelphia Shipbuilding Corporations Tenskwatawa Class Nuclear Attack Submarine, over new build Voleur Class boats and half a dozen other domestic designs. Construction of the first 9 submarines began in 2005, with plans for enough of them to be constructed to replace all the Voleur Class boats in active service by 2018.

Armament & Electronics

The Tenskwatawa Class’s main armament is its eight 660mm torpedo tubes, capable of firing weapons ranging from Torpedos, like the Mk48 ADCAP, to Anti-shipping missiles such as the UGM-84 Harpoon and the UGM-109 Tomahawk, as well as mines. Alongside of the submarines eight torpedo tubes, there are twenty-four Vertical Launch Tubes along the back of the submarine, just behind the sail. Each of these tubes is 800mm wide, designed to take the Pennsylvanian Navy’s We-38N Cruise Missile, designed by Yanitaria, and in use in large numbers by the Pennsylvanian Armed Forces.

The electronics on the submarine are largely the same as found some Pennsylvanian Navy submarines, such as the Williamson Class Nuclear Missile Submarine (SSMN). This includes the same Photonic Mast and the same Sonar Systems, and a similar, but somewhat more compact version of the Radar mast, with a shorter effective range, accounting for the significant difference in size between the Williamson Class and the Tecumseh Class.

The vessel does not utilize a conventional periscope for the Captain or other officers to use in order to identify a vessel. It instead utilizes a Photonic Mast to transmit a digital image of the target from the Mast to a series of High Definition monitors around the control room of the submarine.

A photonics mast (or optronic mast) is a sensor similar in concept to a submarine periscope, except that it doesn't require a periscope tube thus freeing design space during construction and limiting risks of water leakage in the event of damage. A photonics mast replaces the mechanical; line-of-sight viewing system with digital equipment, similar to a digital camera array, and it has fewer locational and dimensional constraints than a traditional periscope.

Unlike a periscope, it need not be located directly above its user, and it requires only a small pressure hull penetration for cabling. This allows the photonics mast to be contained entirely within the sail of the submarine and means the control room need not be placed directly below the sail.

A photonics mast operates by rising above the water similarly to a telescoping car antenna and provides information through an array of sensors, such as high definition low-light and thermo graphic cameras. Images and information can be sent to display panels for analysis. The photonics mast can also support the navigation, electronic warfare, and communications functions of a conventional
optical periscope mast.

The submarine utilizes a bow mounted Active and Passive Sonar system as well as a passive cable towed array system, located on the starboard side of the submarine amidships. The Towed arrays cable is almost a kilometer long, allowing it to get clear of noise from the submarine, and to detect other submarines or even surface ships from long distances. The systems are sensitive enough to pick up sounds more than 500km away, though, at these distances, accuracy is anything but good.

Propulsion & Hull

The propulsion of the Tenskwatawa Class is in its SSN10R Pressurized Water Reactor, based off of the S9G of the American Virginia Class, and, in some extent, the S6W of the American Seawolf class attack submarines. As a result, the Reactor is capable of pushing the submarine at speeds up to 23 knots while remaining silent, in large part to not only the reactor, but also to the hull design, and the thick coat of anechoic rubber on the outer hull, which, by itself, is capable of reducing the noise output by the submarine anywhere from 4% to 14%. Coupled with the other stealth precautions taken in the design of the submarine, this results in the submarine being quieter at 23 knots than some previous Nuclear Fast Attack Submarines were tied up to a pier.

The submarines hull is constructed primarily out of HY-130 steel, contrary to many designs, which used a lot of Titanium in their design, like the Tecumseh Class Diesel Electric Attack Submarine. HY-130 steel is a very high strength material, originally destined for use in the Seawolf Class Nuclear Fast Attack Submarine. However, the Seawolf ended up instead being constructed of HY-100 steel, instead of HY-130.

The classes hull is further divided into 3 compartments, Forward, which comprises the Submarines Torpedo Room and Bunking, Control, which is made up of the Sonar Room and Control Room, and Engineering, which is made up of everything related to the Nuclear Reactor.

Communication Systems

The Tenskwatawa Class Fast Attack Submarine has a multitude of communications equipment available on it, ranging from Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) and Very Low Frequency (VLF), to satellite equipment for communications through regular Military Communications Satellites.

Electromagnetic waves in the ELF frequency range (3–3000 Hz) can travel through the oceans and reach submarines anywhere. Building an ELF transmitter is a formidable challenge, as they have to work at incredibly long wavelengths: The US Navy's system operated at 76 hertz, the Soviet/Russian system at 82 hertz. The latter corresponds to a wavelength of 3658.5 kilometers. Obviously, the usual half-wavelength dipole antenna cannot be constructed, as it would spread across a large country.

Instead, one has to find an area with very low ground conductivity (a requirement opposite to usual radio transmitter sites), bury two huge electrodes in the ground at different sites, and then feed lines to them from a station in the middle, in the form of wires on poles. Although other separations are possible, 60 kilometers is the distance used by the ZEVS transmitter located near Murmansk. As the ground conductivity is poor, the current between the electrodes will penetrate deep into the Earth, essentially using a large part of the globe as antenna. The antenna length in Republic, Michigan was approximately 52 kilometers (32 miles). The antenna is very inefficient. To drive it, a dedicated power plant seems to be required, although the power emitted as radiation is only a few watts. Its transmission can be received virtually anywhere.

ELF Transmission

The Extremely low frequency transmission employed was a 64-ary Reed-Solomon, meaning that the alphabet had 64 symbols, each represented by a very long pseudo-random sequence. The entire transmission was then encrypted. The advantages of such a technique are that by correlating multiple transmissions, a message could be completed even with very low signal-to-noise ratios, and because only a very few pseudo-random sequences represented actual message characters, there was a very high probability that if a message was successfully received, it was a valid message (anti-spoofing).

The communication link is one-way. No submarine could have its own ELF transmitter on board, due to the sheer size of such a device. Attempts to design a transmitter which can be immersed in the sea or flown on an aircraft were soon abandoned.

Due to the limited bandwidth, information can only be transmitted very slowly, on the order of a few characters per minute. Thus it is reasonable to assume that the actual messages were mostly generic instructions or requests to establish a different form of two-way communication with the relevant authority.

VLF Transmission

VLF radio waves (3–30 kHz) can penetrate seawater to a depth of approximately 20 meters. Hence a submarine at shallow depth can use these frequencies. A vessel more deeply submerged might use a buoy on a long cable equipped with an antenna. The buoy rises to a few meters below the surface, and may be small enough to remain undetected by enemy sonar / radar.

Due to the low frequency, a VLF broadcast aerial needs to be quite big. In fact, broadcasting sites are usually a few square kilometers (or miles). This of course prevents such aerials being installed on submarines. Submarines only carry a VLF reception aerial, and do not respond on such low frequencies. So a ground-to-submarine VLF broadcast is always a one way broadcast, originating on the ground and received aboard the boat. If two-way communication is needed, the boat must surface and communicate on other, higher, frequencies (such as UHF or VHF).
This band allows for a roughly 300 bit/s transmission - or about 35 8-bit ASCII characters per second (or the equivalence of a sentence every two seconds) - a total of 450 words per minute. Simply shifting to 7-bit ASCII results in a baud rate (characters per second) increase of 14 percent. An additional shift to a 6-bit or a 5-bit code (such as the baudot code) would result in speeds of more than 600 and 700 words per minute. Moreover, as naval jargon is in most cases both very strict and very specific, it is likely to be repetitive and predictable. So a word like "OFFICER" might be broadcast as "OFF." or "OFF1" or simply "OFFI" for example. A word like "COMMANDER" might be spelled as "CMD" and in a similar fashion pairs of words such as "HIGH COMMAND" might be spelled as "HCMD". This kind of specialized naval spelling leads to a further significant reduction of bandwidth usage, allowing for an overall increase in data transmission rates.

Overview: The Voleur class is Yanitaria's newest nuclear attack submarine, and is slated to replace the current, aging fleet of Shchucka-B's.

Not much is known about the Voleur class, except what the Yanitarian government has released, and several rumours circulated over the internet that may or may not have any validity. It is also not known in what numbers they have been produced, or if they have even been put into production yet. However, recent activity in the Okhotsk submarine ship yards suggests that production is in full swing.

A leaked government report suggests that the Voleur Class is extremely quiet, and much harder to track than the older submarines serving with the Yanitarian Royal Navy. It is unknown what armament the Voleur class carries.

It is known that the Voleur Class, if put into production, will only be sold to the closest allies of Yanitaria.

Civil Protection

Image
Diplomatic Flag of the Confederate States, used by the Military Police to symbolize the obligation to the People and Nation

Overview

Civil Protection is carried out by the Military Police due to long standing traditions within the Confederacy. It has long been believed that a military-based police force, obligated more to the defense of the People rather than the government itself, would better ease tensions within the nation as a whole. It was also believed that with military-grade training that a more professional and capable civil servant would be created who could abide by all laws provided. Statistics have shown that in 99.9% of incidents where the Military Police have been involved, there were no outstanding issues to do with the policemen themselves. This has further enforced the idea that a professional standing and obligation to the people has helped ensure that the Military Police keep the peace rather than be forced to enforce it through harsh measures.

Civil Unrest

During times of civil unrest, such as mass protests or general rebellion, the Military Police ensures that first and foremost the People are protected from all harm. According to the laws of the Confederacy, the People have all rights to protests publicly and privately any and all grievances to their government and/or relevant conditions. Normal procedure for unscheduled protests is to have a unit standby and protect private property while maintaining a distance from the protest in question. Should the protest get out of hand or become violent in any nature, it is the right of the MP to defend the people from harm and harming themselves. In such conditions the MP's will border off the protests and attempt to quell the violence in a diplomatic and peaceful manner. Should that fail, non-lethal force will be used to hamper any violence in the protests.

If a rebellion of any sort occurs in any city, county, state or region within the Confederacy the Military Police has the right to ensure that the people involved in the rebellion do not wish bodily harm upon their fellow man. If such a case is true, they will use aggressive non-lethal force to quell such rebellion. If lethal force is used against the MP during these times and no armored protection is capable of defending the MP or if a MP is injured, lethal force will be authorized under the law of "Protecting the Nation". Once said rebellion is quelled or calmed to a more proper diplomatic fashion, a council will be formed between the government and the People to address the issues that initiated the rebellion. The Military Police is required by law to moderate and oversee the meeting between the two parties and ensure that the People benefit the most from the outcome, so long as said outcome does not dissolve the Confederacy in any manner.

Normal Procedures

The normal Operating Conditions of the Military Police is to provide comfort and aid to all citizens, both foreign and domestic, within the Confederacy. They are obligated to respond to calls concerning possible violations of set law within a city, county, state and/or region. Professionalism and respect is key when an MP is on duty, as laws require that the Military Police maintain the stance as the mediator during times of peace. If at any point an MP violates these codes and protocols corrective action is to be immediately taken to ensure the safety of the public. Above all it is the responsibility of the Military Police to use any and all measures according to the level of seriousness within any known or unknown situation to ensure the continued right of every Anagonian to seek their right to happiness and fulfillment with minimal government and criminal interference.

Additional Information
The Confederate Military Police are both protectors and police for the people.

The following is what all MP's must learn when making an arrest. It is simply termed "Citizen Rights".

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. I, Officer <insert officer name here> have placed you under arrest for the following: <insert crime list here plus severity>. By the Constitution of the Confederate States, you are obligated to have a proper defense should you be brought to court. An attorney will be granted to you free of charge by the government of the Confederate States. If you choose to represent yourself you will be given proper introduction in civil defense also free of charge. Do you understand what I have said?"

The Officer will then explain the situation should the response be "No".

Standard Operating Vehicles

The Military Police can usually be seen patrolling in Humvee's, M1117 Armored Security Vehicles or the more mundane Patrol Car which encompasses a variety of vehicle classes depending on the budget of the county or state. There are no standard restrictions on vehicle classes, however with the M1117 ASV any lethal weaponry is strictly kept in reserve until such a time as a national emergency, such as an invasion of foreign forces.

National Landmarks

Image
The Confederate Seat of Power, Confederate White House. Located in New Liberty, State of Liberty

History

The Confederate White House was originally a library before the end of the Great Slumber. As the People woke from their mass amnesia and the Great Rememberer Chief General Oscar Vladinchi came to unify the People, they needed to consolidate power in a recognizable place. When the Chief Generals unification forces marched through the anarchic state of Liberty, they came across an abandoned library. The story goes that when entering the library Oscar immediately declared this the seat of power within his Confederacy. So it was that after the unification was complete, the abandoned library with no name became the Confederate White House.

Overhaul

Obviously being a library wasn't enough for when the first President of the Confederacy was elected. Picking the Confederate Seat of Power was handled by Oscar Valdinchi. Refurbishing it to higher standards became the job of President Jason Paladin. He set about a massive reconstruction effort trying to maintain most of the original outside construction while completely redoing the interior. Originally the library had two floors that were open for viewing so people could see the books on the second floor. This was corrected for a true two-floor building. Afterwards a third private floor was added at the top where the attic was, putting private offices and rooms that normally were out of view.

Furthering the overhaul President Paladin dictated that there should be several "offices and rooms for running the Confederacy", as was quoted directly. So it was that along with the Presidents Stateroom a few others rooms were added. These rooms included the Office of the Department of National Defense, Office of the Vice President, Vice Presidents Stateroom, Office of National Intelligence, Office of the Department of the Confederate States, Office of the Department of the Interior(Council of the States), Office of the Confederate States Joint Department of Progress and the Office of the Council of Confederate Commerce

Other rooms were included int his overhaul. For the Vice President and Presidents Staterooms, fully functioning bathrooms were included with the overhaul since they would make the Confederate White House their residents. Additionally a fully functioning kitchen was included with a lavish dining room for both internal use and diplomatic visits. Everything that could possibly be added and crammed into such a small space without making it impossible to move was done at no expense.

Before the construction of the Confederate Congressional Building, the Confederate White House acted as the meeting place for representatives. This period lasted for six months.

Image
The Confederate Congressional Building. Located in New Liberty, State of Liberty

History

The Confederate Congressional Building had to be constructed from scratch rather than the usual refurbishing of old buildings. It took six months and two days for the Congressional Building to finish construction, another two months to finish interior design while it was being used. It is one of a few government buildings that actually was constructed during the period of the Confederacy.

Use

The was designed in mind to hold both Houses of Congress which are the Senate and House of Representatives and the fledgling House of Colonial Affairs. Other areas were included for the Office of the Council of States Agriculture, Office of the Chief of the Confederate Congress and the Office of Confederate States Department of Colonial Affairs. There are several rooms from which senators and government employees may bunk the night. Two dining halls are provided with a fully stocked kitchen. Many other additions were added, including several secret rooms, for the convenience and enjoyment of all who came in. One notable addition is the Confederate Memorial Room, showing where the Confederacy Formed and the full history up to present day.

Image
Supreme Court of the Confederacy, Supreme Courthouse. Located in New Liberty, State of Liberty.

History

It is long believed that the Supreme Courthouse used to be a customs house for visiting diplomats. Proof of this was found two years after the building was chosen when a renovation crew stumbled upon age-old documents from the past Anagonian era. Within it were several instances of nations being chosen for diplomatic meetings and embassies within the land. After finding more documents, which were quickly sent to the Grand Library of the Confederacy for storage and restoration, the renovation team continued to update the building to current standards and repair any damage.

Use

The Supreme Courthouse houses the Constitutional Office of Justice where the Chief Justice and six other Justices, one from each state, reside. The courtroom is modest and houses up to two hundred people at one time. The bench is able to hold twelve justices, but lacks more due to the fact that the Confederacy only has Seven States. There are living quarters and a kitchen on the top floor with several offices. The living quarters, built in a corner at the top floor in a quiet location, is for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. All other Justices are not allowed to live on premises.

The Indo-Anagonian Empire

Image
Flag representing the joint union between the Confederate States of Anagonia and the Indonesian Empire of Yohannes

History

The Indo-Anagonian Empire was formed after the Indonesian Empire of Yohannes and the Confederate States of Anagonia agreed to join together under the Articles of Statehood on December 4th, 84 AGS (2010). The central governments of both nations, in recognition of this Union, have consolidated power to incorporate a symbiotic relationship between the two powers. This symbiotic relationship allows the two nations to act as one in many affairs, including but not limited to incorporating economic and population numbers into a final statistic. It also extends to both countries using the full combined military strength in hostile or peacekeeping situations.

While it needs to be mentioned the conditions outlined within the Articles of Statehood act for the Indo-Anagonian Empire, the case where the two nations agreed to such a union is quite exceptional. Special exceptions had to be drafted by both Legislative Branches of both Nations to compensate for the newly formed Super Nation. That of ensuring sovereignty was respected and ensuring that the world understood the strength of the unity between the two combined nations.

6. Military - (Gathering Information. Under Construction)Dual Imperial Armed Forces of Anagonia-Yohannes

The Empire of Anagonia-Yohannes or Indo-Anagonian Empire, also know as the Dual Empire, is an imperial union between the crowns of the Indonesian Empire of Yohannes in Terra Nova and the sovereignty of Anagonia in Tyrrhenia. The union was a result of the Imperial and Confederacy Compromise of 2010, under which the economic, military, and demographic total population of both sovereignties are shared under one union of a Dual-Imperial system (Dual-Empire and/or or Dual-Monarchy).

Special exceptions had to be drafted by both Legislative Branches of both Nations to compensate for the newly formed powerhouse of a nation. That of ensuring sovereignty was respected and ensuring that the world understood the strength of the unity between the two combined nations.

The National Army re-organisation was being put into effect following the union with the Confederate States of Anagonia, with main focus being placed in the development of a trully professional army and land formation, and the abandonment of the outdated conscript practise of the Indonesian Empire of Yohannes. Following the union with Anagonia, and the subsequent formation of the Empire of Anagonia-Yohannes, a serious re-organisation of the army was needed. The result was the retainment of a professional standing force of ten land divisions, with emphasis being made in quality, and not quantity of the said coalition of formation. There are currently 10 active professional standing land divisions of the Empire of Anagonia-Yohannes. The goverment of the Empire of Anagonia-Yohannes allocated an estimated ¥546,412.16 (not converted to Universal Standard Dollar yet) worth of training and equipment of its military budget per men.

The 1st Helghaz Division is an armoured division of the Imperial Indonesian Army. It was originally formed in the aftermath of the National Army Re-organisation following the union with the Confederate States of Anagonia, with main focus being placed in the development of a trully professional army and land formation, and the abandonment of the outdated conscript practise of the Indonesian Empire of Yohannes. The 1st Helghaz Division is one of the current active professional 10 active divisions of the Empire of Anagonia-Yohannes The goverment of the Empire of Anagonia-Yohannes allocated an estimated ¥546,412.16 (not converted to Universal Standard Dollar yet) worth of training and equipment of its military budget per men.

Incoming statistics for Future Tech

ANAGONIA
You need to describe the Warhammer, Marauder and Spartan Destroids compared to their Robotech counterparts. If images are used post proper copyrights for images(self-explanatory). Describe future tech bases and units. Probably be best to describe the Apollo Space Station and many others as base of operations. Make sure not to screw up like last time and make an entirely new nation out of it. Keep it linked to NS Anagonia.

Also please delete this message once you have been reminded and have begun the post. Thanks.

-War Hero
Helped win critical wars during the Founding of the Confederacy against outside aggression.
-Tribal Hero
Critical role in helping to unite the Tribes of New Anagonia upon Founding and preventing unneeded bloodshed through mutual cooperation.
-Mythical Legend
A true legend in Anagonian Lore. His history spans countless ages, either by him taking up said roles before him or the popular theory that he truly is the Hero of Times Past.

Full History OOC
A critical character in the forming of Anagonia and its ideals, Oscar Vladinchi came into being as a look-alike of Joseph Stalin during the old days when Anagonia was a "USSR". He quickly changed into a beacon of freedom and democracy before being implemented into a "two worlds" type of deal through Future Tech and Modern Tech. He was then revealed as the father of Drakomis Reign, whom was another pivotal Main Character, through a critical plot twist as he lay dying by Oscar's hands at the end of the original FT Storyline. He finally ending his FT career as a villian who was supposedly killed by Melkos Unchanos, the spectral father of Oscar Vladinchi and consequential father of now-defunct story lines elsewhere and current God worshipped by the People of Anagonia.

Oscar's true form was that of a reptilian humanoid creature called a "Drekamythian". This came into being as an explanation for his sudden appearance into FT Anagonia and quickly evolved into helping create an entire FT Anagonian species. His current incarnation in Anagonian Lore is strictly human however, but noted to have a mysterious past as someone who is suspiciously older than he appears through various suggestive giveaways.

His death from the Anagonian Storyline came about due to a recent encounter role play with the nation of Victorious Decepticons. He was killed in a fight with a main character of Victorious Decepticons as Oscar went mad with power. His successor is Kromulus Regulus.

It should be noted that Oscar Vladinchi was always something of a easter egg character. Being there yet somehow influencing the creation of random events just by being implemented into a storyline. It was for this reason he lasted so long.

His return as a Main Character is currently being debated, though it may not happen. Or maybe it will. Who knows.

A Brief History

The Confederate States of Anagonia launched its first interstellar craft called the CSS Voyager on December 14th, 41 After Great Slumber. It became the starting point that marked the beginning of a great journey that would eventually lead to the Confederacy having a permanent military presence beyond the solar system. The catalyst for these events started when Confederate scientists discovered the dormant mechanical body of a Decepticon called Fuelmaker. After years of reverse engineering technology into usable applications the Military stepped into the scene and under the direction of Chief General Oscar Vladinchi initiated the Veritech and Fortress Programs. The Voyager was a direct result of the findings and assisted Anagonia in gaining a first contact with another life form not of the earth, resulting in a epic journey that further thrust the predominately earth-bound Confederate Military into pouring its resources for outer space applications.

Under the direction of the newly appointed President, Kromulus Regulus, a conference was held in the Confederate Congress to discuss the impending paradox the Confederacy was facing with one specific question at the fore. Where they to fully commit the entire nation into outer space and leave behind the world that birthed their civilization? The result was a month long vote that was assisted from the voice of the Citizens and their opinions concerning the matter. Surprisingly, over 78% of the populace supported maintaining a presence on earth. With the Will of the People heard, the Confederate Congress with the assistance of both the Military and President formed a new government body that would be separate from the nation itself and be the arm of the Confederacy in space exploration.

On July 20th, 42 After Great Slumber, a short six months after Kromulus was elected President, the Confederate Space Defense Force was born. It would be under the same restricts held sacred by the earth-bound Confederate Military and obligated to answer to the President and Chief General should situations require. It was not allowed to interfere in any manner with the affairs of its earth-bound parent, regardless of the situation. To emphasize this important objective, the Articles of the Confederate Space Defense Force was drafted and approved by the Confederate Congress. In these Articles were directives and freedoms granted to its mission in space, but heavy restrictions when it came to coming into contact with anything on earth. This directive became known as the First Directive since a majority of military leaders and politicians and the People themselves agreed that such a breach into the well established earth-bound nation of Anagonia would result in catastrophic consequences and the eventual exodus of the nation itself.

The Confederate Space Defense Force is only tied to its Modern Day equivalent by chain of command alone. Beyond that it has nothing to do with the affairs of the earth nor does it intend to. With a well established founding article and a laid out chain of command, it exists as a separate entity and the incarnation of the Confederacy as a space empire.

Its primary objectives are the exploration of space and establishment of long term colonies beyond the solar system. Secondary objectives are for peaceful first contact of other alien lifeforms and the establishment of peaceful relations between Anagonia and other alien civilizations. While the main government and Congress of the Confederate States have no legal authority to direct the CSDF in any manner or form, full authority of direction is granted to the President and Chief General.
