The Imperial Household of the Shahanshah splits most official time between two major palace complexes: the Royal Palace Complex at the Citadel in the capitol of Ahui Bat, and the much younger and much larger Palace of the Edifice in Anshaan Province.

Royal Palace Complex
The Palace Complex in Ahui Bat is actually a collection of palatial residences and vast gardens spread out over the central government center of the Citadel, the Old City, and the West District of the capitol of Ahui Bat. There are three main focuses in the complex, the Citadel Palace, the Daravid Preserve, and the Western Hermitage.

The Palace at the Citadel is the oldest royal residence in Palaam, having been the spot of various palaces for Palaamian dynasties for thousands of years; the palace's proximity to the sacred Golden Tower and the central Great Fire Temple made it perfect for maintaining political, military, and religious control over Palaam. A general mish-mash of hundreds of buildings, it houses harems, dining and reception spaces, private shrines, and hundreds of residence rooms and the Sultan's personal residence. The need to rebuild damaged buildings has resulted in the mixing of architectural styles over the thousands of years of Palaamian history. The Palace here is connected by defensive walls, couryards, gardens, and a maze of covered cloisters, corridors, and gates to the main political and religious buildings.

The Daravid Preserve is a stretch of cultivated gardens, small guest houses, and shrines to the northwest of the Citadel Palace walls, on the western borders of the Old City. For much of the month, some of the gardens are open to the public. The Western Hermitage is on the northern outskirts of the sprawling city of Ahui Bat, abutting the northern boundary of the Preserve, built in 1850 by Sultan Ardaxser II in the rocky, forested location to preserve it from development.

Palace of the Edifice

Originally built as a border fort and hunting lodge by the Daravid sultans in the 12th century, the Edifice was expanded and extensively expanded by Sultan Vishtaasp III Azhkaaniyeh, also known as Vishtaasp the Magnificent. Sprawling over 125,000 acres of forested and mountainous territory, the gigantic palace complex is cut into the rock of the mountains and soars over Anshaan. The Sultan spends his summer residence there to escape from the heat of Ahui Bat, and returns to Salaar in the winter when it snows in Anshaan.
