Today In YN's History

This was an older thread but I want to revive it because it's a cool idea.

As many of you may know on Wikipedia's front page there is a section called "On this day" where historical events that took place on that day are featured. This can range from minor things to world events, all of which had to have taken place on that same date in a prior year. While IIWiki has this not everyone is on IIWiki, or cares enough to create a new article over and over again some of which wouldn't even be chosen. So I'm bringing it to the forums for everyone to enjoy, or well at least those of us on the forums.

I must clarify I mean historical events, so not this day today but rather this day in a past year. For example if it is February 25 you can do February 25, 1921 and/or February 25, 853 but not February 25, (Current Year).

February 25, 1944 - Battle of the Eastisle Sea

As American forces begin to make their way towards Boldonia to begin their liberation of it, they encounter a small Japanese fleet 134 miles away from Eastisle. By this point in the war the Japanese Navy was severely weakened and was easily pushed aside by the American fleet, only taking a small 3 hour skirmish with American carrier aircraft doing most of the heavy lifting.

American Time : Feb 25, 1925 or Ashotunese Time : Haru, 15th day, 1925

Event name : End of the Masashiru famine, and the day when the sun shined brighter.

Once there was a famine in Ashotu, that lasted a very long time.
So a man prayed to Honoki, god of hope and light. A few days later, the rice grew again and cows started to reproduce. Some Hakiists say that the sun shined brighter.

People say this is Honoki's doing, and some say it was luck

February 28, 2007-Battle of the Tol Cities
On February 28, 2007, West Kharakian armies marched towards 5 cities, Tol Burnaak, Tol Yustaris, Tol Impartik, Tol Reshak, and Tol Ilstaak, in their quest for independence from Kharakia. These cities are commonly referred to as the "Tol Cities" due to the start of each of their names being Tol. Some Kharakian armies met up with them at the first and smallest city, Tol Impartik. More Kharakian armies were lining up to defend Tol Burnaak, the biggest city, sandwiched in the middle of all the others. After a battle that lasted 2 hours in Tol Impartik, the Kharakian armies defending it fell back towards Tol Burnaak. The West Kharakian armies set up camp in Tol Impartik, not attacking Tol Burnaak. They then turned their attention to Tol Yustaris and Tol Reshak, the cities to the east and west of Tol Burnaak. After capturing these cities, they then went to Tol Ilstaak, completing a complete surround of the Kharakian troops. This forced the Kharakian troops to surrender, in a battle that was a major win for West Kharakia.

Casualties:
Kharakia: ~17,000 dead, ~250,000 captured
West Kharakia: ~2,000 dead, none captured

City captures:
Kharakia: None
West Kharakia: Tol Burnaak, Tol Impartik, Tol Yustaris, Tol Reshak, Tol Ilstaak.

March 1st, 1919

A peaceful demonstration took place in downtown Seoul to protest Japan's provocations on the international water. The protests began by protesting Japan's provocations, but gradually began to demand that Joseon's despotic monarchy be reformed into a constitutional monarchy and that its citizens' power should be increased. The government eventually accepted the demands of its citizens and reformed it into a constitutional monarchy in January 1920.

February 28th (well, technically March 1st as well) 2032

A weird event happened in The Socialist Council of Nastorordia (my national parliament) where the upper house vetod a bill that passed through the lower house vote, but the lower house then voted to veto the veto of the original bill, making a second vote which ended up veto-ing the veto to the veto of the original bill, and then congress voted to veto the veto of the veto of the veto of the original bill...

This went on for several hours (hence the double date). Until it was decided that from now on, if a bill get vetoed more than twice, a public vote is held where the parliament cannot interfere to prevent infinite chains of vetoes.

Or in simple terms:
Congress - Hey, we voted and want to pass this law
Senate - No you cant, we voted to invalidate your vote
Congress - Well, we voted to invalidate your vote to invalidate our vote!
Senate- Oh yeah? We voted to invalidate your vote to invalidate our vote to invalidate your vote to...
