Flatulence in your country

What are the customs and etiquette surrounding flatulence in your country? Is breaking wind considered rude, or merely a way of breaking the ice between citizens? Is there any cultural significance to the act of flatulence?

The Farting Country treats flatulence exactly how you'd expect. To say flatulence is considered a normal bodily function would not suffice; it is considered something more. It is perhaps the ultimate form of human expression because it transcends multiple senses (smell, sound, and sometimes sight). Fartians (pronounced "farshans", like Martians) pride themselves on their ability to flatulate; it is a major facet of our culture. We even have a great many celebrity flatulists, and numerous celebrities (like actors, comedians, musicians, etc.) are well-versed in the art of flatulism. Flatulating, however, is rarely considered the topic of humor. To do so would demean its value in our culture.

The Farting Country's citizens pride themselves on their ability to pass gas, and indeed the innovative uses they find for it.
Numerous national records on the subject exist (https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1825320). People in the Farting Country have used flatulence for a variety of things, including power, new year's eve celebrations, military purposes, and--most famously--execution. The death penalty is routinely publicly carried out in The Farting Country for a variety of serious crimes. The usual procedure is this. The criminal is bound to a stake. The victims (or their family/friends) consume a mash of bananas, beans, milk, and salsa until they experience severe gas. The criminal is then doused with gasoline. Someone holds a long match for the victims to flatulate on; the victims pass gas until the match flame spreads to the criminal and engulfs him in flames. If the criminal in question has been convicted of a crime against the state (such as espionage), the president himself flatulates on the open flame.

Flatulence is not as taboo in Telbnis as it is in some countries, but definitely not as beautiful as with Fartians.
It's considered normal to pass gas loudly, and no-one will really care, but it's not so much a matter of national pride as a matter of "lol i just farted".

If a person has done this in public, then he begins to be considered uncivilized and deserves public condemnation.

Farting jokes are very common, some self declared high culture connoisseurs may mock the idea, but even they can be seen laughing, some think it is very juvenile too, since fart jokes are more common in children's media than adult media, unless it's fetish pornography. There are times when fart based humor gets more or less popular.

Street performers often use fart jokes or project their farts with a long horn, and fart jokes are used a lot in parodies and satirical works. It's considered funny, and the louder it is the funnier it is. Sometimes bad smells are used to emphasize it but that aspect is seen less favorable. In many people, especially ponies, the tail is often a gestured part to quite literally fan it or draw attention to it. Sometimes suppressing a fart means holding your tail really close, especially when the noise will be distracting in an otherwise solemn or somber context, though that still is humorous because of the contrast and the embarrassment factor. In terms of etiquette, if farts are distracting do not call attention to it, yes people know but it would be rude to derail the event or conversation if it is not relevant. Farts are observed but not always talked about it, but if you're putting on a show it can be used for entertainment, even if it is accidental. Gross bodily functions are improvisational too.

Flatulence is frowned upon in the City. It is accepted as a part of the human condition; however, to draw attention to it in any way is considered a breach of manners. When one farts, other people might react in different ways, from a shrug to a telling-off. Fart jokes are popular within certain groups, but it is not a thing in wider City society.

Well, it's not like it's a crime, but it's frowned upon. People will look down on you and be sure you're an ill-mannered pig.

If you consistently do this and become known for such a thing, you will be seen as a joke and childish person not to be taken seriously.

If a lot of people get angry and/or tired of it, they can start to harm you in a personal or professional way.
