What was your nation doing during WWII?

Sagrea does not exist in the same universe as this one, so we were not in the situation of WWII. 1939 saw the unfortunate passing of the first Supreme Leader Smodar Duk, with his close and loyal second-in-command, Kresl Praltuk, taking up his mantle. Unfortunately, as the country had only regained sovereignty a few years ago in 1931, the nation was still rebuilding, and faced the Sagrean Economic Crisis shortly after. Kresl would prove to be a capable leader in combating this over the next few decades, restabilizing the economy and bringing full political cohesion to the nation that Smodar did not have enough time to achieve in his tragically short reign.

The Free City was not formed yet during this time, but the land on which the City stands now was a training camp for Allied soldiers to be sent to South America or Southeast Asia. During the latter stages of it, the training camp also housed a listening station for the Allied code-breaking effort.

How was your nation during the WWII period, more specifically 1939 to 1945? Are you involved in the war, or quietly remain?

The Empire of the Aquaria was one of the nations which joined the Axis. This was due to Kajetan Kocurek, the 14th Chancellor's far-right catholic fascist ideology, which causes him to believe that it is better to give up the traditional alliance with France and Britain and become a close ally with Nazi Germany.

Kocurek's term as the Chancellor only started 3 years before the war. With the support of a large part of the military, he made a coup d'etat in 1938 to declare the Imperial Declaration, that he officially own the power as the eternal Chancellor of the Aquaria, being a succeeder of the monarchy to revive the Aqua race from the severe Great Depression (with the monarchy remains but have practically no power), and to conquer the world under one state, one religion, one race and one leader.

However, without proper preparation for war, at least much shorter than how long Hitler prepared, the Aqua imperial military was somewhat not a too effective force when the war really outbreak. In 1940, Norway, Iceland and Sweden were occupied by the Empire, but that is pretty much all for what the Empire have done. They are unable to fight the US-backed Britain militarily, and Kocurek even have to face disapproval and rising tension with Hitler, since both aim to conquer Europe.

Things never go expected. In 1943, the January Revolution outbreak in Laïkrina quickly spread nationwide. Nikola Lieblein, with the Communist Party and several other anti-Kocurek forces, formed the People's Republic of the Aquaria, and officially become an even larger threat to the Kocurekist regime. Along with the revolution, various colonies also declared their independence from the Empire, which severely damaged its strength of it. The PR declared neutral and exit the world war, to focus fighting against the fascists.

A civil war come between 1943 and 1947, but of some sudden, both the United States and the Soviet Union stopped the attack on the Empire, which already fled to the South to become the South Aquaria. It is quite controversial on the action, but many people consider it a result due to the new cold war between both sides. The United States wanted a regime to contain the communist Aquaria's strength, while the Soviet Union will need a rest from war so that their power to fight the US will gather.

That is also a base of the North-South Division situation during the cold war until 1978.

It was... complicated.

At the start of the war we where more aligned with the Axis; trade, education, travel, etc. And there was a lot of public support for the Nazi regime at the time; we remained neutral at first, but when Japan became a threat to our country we had to switch sides; we ended up fighting the Japanese in the Pacific front, and when the Nazi attrocities where exposed the attitude of both the public and the government pretty much 180'd.

The last remnants of this dark past is an almost universally hated Nazi party that still kinda operates in the country (they can hardly keep a single representative in one local government), but the country has drastically changed since then.

As an isolationist state, the Principality of Alzatia was neutral in both World Wars. However, the Germans had plans to invade and occupy it—the only reason it didn't end up with the same fate as its nearby neighbors (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), was because it had been a protectorate of the Spanish Empire since 1806, and the Nazis weren't keen on starting a war with the world's biggest superpower.

President Huey Long, after a Congress which refuses to let him make decisions, and with the Attack on Pearl Harbour, finally decides that the thing that will rally the people will be a war. Troops are sent to China, though Lend Lease does not happen, causing the USSR to suffer more, though Germany soon feels overwhelming force, after President Long states:

“Well, I’m no communist, but they declared war on us!”

War goes much the same way, although the Cold War becomes a lot longer, as the resentment from the Soviet Union never fades.

Well even though TGNO and the USA hate each other, they did fight in WW2 against the Japanese.

When Anchorage was bombed in 1941, TGNO feared that a potential bombing of Hawaii might happen next, so a huge firebombing of Okinawa took place.

The war in the Pacific also ended when 4 megaton nuclear warheads were launched from California. They hit Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and once again, Okinawa.

With a fifth smaller nuclear bomb being dropped between Pyongyang and Seoul. Leaving both inhospitable for around ten years after.

During the inter-war period when Italy was still busy with Ethiopia (the "actual" start of WWII), Bukravia assisted the Nationalist faction during the Spanish Civil War by providing aid and volunteer military units. During the actual start of WWII in 1939, Bukravia hesitated from helping out the Germans fearing a British intervention until 1943 when they started sending volunteer military units, equipment, medical supplies, and trucks. They also provided intelligence to the Germans through spy networks, cipher decryption, and recon planes.

We kept neutrality until 1938. After it became clear what everything leads to, we have concluded a cooperation agreement with Germany. However, we were guided solely by seeing the benefit of this. Kuban was in russia at that time, and since many ethnic Ukrainians lived there, we set out to return this territory. We also limited the influence of Germany on ourselves and were ready for war with it, although we cooperated together in the aviation.

In the early 1940s, fascism had grown to promenience in the colonial protectorate of Portzania. In the economic and political turmoil, a powerful fascist movement emerged as a significant player in Portzania's fight for liberation. The rise of fascism in Portzania was fueled by a combination of nationalist sentiment, anti-colonialism, and a desire for strong, centralized leadership. Some citizens, while being skepitcal of the new party, saw fascism as a means to challenge British colonial rule effectively. In the midst of World War II, Portzanian fascists forged a strategic alliance with Fascist Italy, which proved significant in their struggle for independence from British colonial rule.

Realizing the common ideological ground and a shared desire to challenge British imperialism, Italian leadership was sympathic towards Portzanian independace due to their shared history and similar culture. Benito Mussolini saw an opportunity to expand the influence of Italy and potentially find another ally it's cage in the Mediterranean. Italy provided military advisors, weapons, and training to the paramilitary rebels. In return, Portzania served as a strategic base for Italian operations in the region. Its proximity to British-controlled territories such as Egypt, Israel, and Cyprus proved extremely useful for Italian forces to launch incursions and conduct sabotage missions against British supply lines, helping the Portzanian rebels carry out effective hit-and-run operations against the British.

In 1941, in midst of the the Italian invasion of Egypt, Portzania officially declared independence from the British. Having been inspired by the sucess of the Axis powers in Europe, and extensive Italian aggresion in North Africa, Portzania capitalized on British forces being stretched to assert its sovereignty. This was a HUGE boost of nationalism and war support in the Norht African theater, eventually leading towards a front opening in North Egypt, attempting to seize the Suez Canal to trap British ships in the Sea. However, this invasion would ultimately lead toward's Portzania's downfall in the later years of the war.

Propaganda campaigns propagated the image of a united front between Artonia and Italy, creating a perception of strength and international support for the fascist cause. However, despite initial successes and the support received from Fascist Italy, the young sovereign Portzania, did not survive long past the collapse of Italy, due to Italian military resources stretching thin. The Italian forces were engaged in multiple fronts, including North Africa and the Balkans, and could not support the Portzanian offensive on Alexandria, Egypt. Nearly 20,000 soldiers were encircled and captured in the failed naval invasion and the Portzanian army was pushed back to their home islands quickly. Italy, having provided support to Artonia during the invasion, initially reacted with disappointment and concern over the failed campaign in Egypt. It was seen as a blow to the Axis' power projection in the region. Italian officials decided to scale back their direct involvement in Portzania's struggle for independence.

Eventually, the Portzanian army was left on it's own in WW2 after the fall of Italian North Africa. The failure of the invasion of Egypt dealt a significant blow to Portzania's military forces and morale, combined with the exhausted resources, both in terms of manpower and supplies. Portzania was unable to push back the superior might of the British Navy and Army combined, and only lasted 4 months, after the Italian government lost control of Libya in 1943. The government of Portzania officially collapsed after British control over the islands consolidated in late 1943.

Right after WWII started in September 1939 the then-President Mark van Scholten gave military access to the UK and US so they can station their armies in the Netherlands, built very deep trenches and built bunkers across the whole Dutch-German and Dutch-Belgian border and a huge navy along the coast of the Netherlands. On may 10, 1940 Germany failed to invade the Netherlands after heavy fighting from the east and later in the south. Germany had to abandon the invasion, but tried multiple times up until June 6 1944 to attempt a coup to establish a pro-German government. the Netherlands also further helped many Jews fleeing into the country and established temporary villages so the other towns, villages and cities wouldn't overflood

The historical Second World War did not occur within Venedia’s timeline. Instead, an alternate great war occurred in Europe around a similar period. Venedia was among the victorious 'Northern League', which included an alternate Britain of the Celtic persuasion, an alternate Lithuania, and the (Eastern) Roman Empire; a rebellion in northern Africa was also allied to Venedia and its brethren in arms. The defeated nations included France, the Northern Realm (an alternate Scandinavia unified under Sweden), and Russia. Italy was an ally of the 'Northern League', but capitulated to France before the culmination of the war.

At this time, Venedia was governed by a totalitarian, fascistic regime that wouldn’t be mistakenly compared to the Nazi regime in Germany. While it did not commit an industrial Holocaust, ethnic cleansings, ultranationalism and hypermilitarism were the order of the day. Victory gave the regime considerable legitimacy, and allowed it to remain in power for another two decades before it gave way to a colour revolution and restoration of democracy. Nonetheless, the regime’s victory allowed similar regimes to gain footholds in other parts of Europe and the world.

The war didn’t save the (Eastern) Roman Empire, as it collapsed immediately afterwards and fractured into several states. The Northern Realm was forced to concede the Baltic Sea to Venedo-Lithuanian hegemony, and Duitslant (neighbouring both Venedia and France) became a Venedian protectorate for the remainder of the National Socialist regime’s time in power. France lost territory in North Africa, Corsica, and Brittany (which became a British protectorate), and Russia was forced to withdraw from several territories that came under Lithuanian and Venedian protection.

In general, the war devastated Europe, and hastened the demise of European empires, much as the historical Second World War did to Europe in OTL. However, with Venedia at the heart of it and coming from it victorious, its taste for war was not lessened as much as it otherwise would’ve been, and it increasingly became a world power as it regrew and benefited from the decline of France and the British. Despite its actions, the wartime regime is held in relatively high regard, and National Socialist figures, leaders, and soldiers are admired as Heroes of the Nation. I’m sure it would be shocking to any person coming from a timeline where the Second World War happened historically to see the face(s) of the Venedian equivalents of Hermann Goering or Walther von Brauchitsch or Adolf Hitler proudly pictured above classroom whiteboards or at military museums, even more when they realise that the resting places of these people are honoured sites.

Our nation, the "Hironoland" with a population of 40 million was split, half favoring allies and other half favoring national socialists. This led to a brutal bloody Civil War with a death count of 6 million fighting men and 3 million civilians.

At the end of the Civil War, neither side came on top, and a partition was organized. The allied nation went on to form "Homoland" led by Alfonsii backed by US, UK, Israel. The other nation, pro axis was Kekistan, led by our noble Leader, Pepe. After the partition, both nations were utterly destroyed and hence, couldn't afford to support either allies or axis.

Kekistan is trying to re emerge as a global power, and recreate a world that opposes the current world order. However, there's a long way to go.

Homeland collapsed 8 years for the left wing policies could not hold the society together after its founding and currently remains a wor torn nation.

In general, Filonia was on the side of the USSR from the beginning of the war, they even fought with Poland, even though the Filonians are related to them (the Filonians themselves are Russified Poles). Some soldiers were also sent to Finland.

On the other hand, Filonya (my alt who is a democratic version of me) fought against the Allies and had neutral relations with the USSR. Filonia declared war on Germany on August 10, 1940. They also took part in the Battle of Monte Cassino with the Poles. The war itself ended in May 1945. They also fought against Japan.
