The Confederate War (1898-1910) was when the United Kingdom of Malgrave was invaded by it's previous Confederate Allies. The mixture of trench and open field warfare was horrific (think a mixture of WW1, 2 and the Winter War). The United Kingdom lost around 47% of it's Pre-War population. In the first quote Prime Minister Alan Green was referring to those who refused to be sent to the front lines or take part in any war related activity. (those who had shell shock or other related issues were often sent to factories etc so they continued to help the war effort).

Second quote was after the war. Violent Protests took place on the 1 year anniversary of the failed landings at Gallipoli, Fascists and Communists attempted to rise up and other-throw the Democratically Elected government and Constitutional Monarchy. Think of the stabbed in the back feelings after the First World War without the Anti-Semitism

I remember the Confederate troops kept charging at our defensive lines as mortar and machine gun fire took thousands of lives, not only the young boys but their mothers and fathers."
