"I saw the world before the Final War, Marshal. Before I came to rule the numerous peoples that now make up the Federation, there was nothing but division, hatred, and an utter decay in morality and decency. I have re-installed the concepts of what is right, and what is wrong. I have united our people; not as Muslims, not as Christians, not as black or white, but as Citizens of the Federation. If you believe this is evil, then by all means, you're right, Fascism is evil." -Grand Commander Griffith Artiche

"The Sons of Predappio are marching, President. At this point I don't believe you can stop them." -Marshal Lurdan Huszar, then supreme commander of the GWO Armed Forces as the Fascists marched on the Global Parliament building, revealing that most of the military (especially in New Paris) were loyal to Griffith Artiche

Eventually, the most loyal Fascists would hold that title with pride. The Sons of Predappio are the most radical Italian Fascists around- Predappio refers to the birthplace of Mussolini. Of course, every Grand Commander has been one.

5/10- meh. Not bad, not memorable.

"The Columbian government would have us believe that the harvesting of whales can continue indefinitely in Mitana's waters. They assure us all that has happened in virtually every other ocean of the world will not happen here- though the difficulty we face each year, the hungry faces returning to the shore, the empty rooms of sons gone to seek new jobs in the cities, belie these kind and reassuring claims. Whale stocks are disappearing around the globe, and with it goes the whaler's way of life. I have been a whaler since I was a young man. My father was a whaler. His father was a whaler. All I want, is that someday, my son can be a whaler, too.
The Columbian government wants to paint us all to be rabid environmentalists- and I take no shame in saying, I am an environmentalist! My environment gives me my livelihood. My environment gives life to the whales. The whale gives us meat, blubber, oil, ambrein, abergris, scrimshaw, baleen, our whole host of riches. The whale is integral to the life of every town and village of Sagatagan's coast. I am an environmentalist because I am a whaler. I could not be a whaler, without caring for the whales and the whale stocks, without caring for the ocean, any more than a farmer could afford to neglect and abuse his soil, or a cattleman starve his cattle, or a mechanic let his engines go to rust.
The whales are my resource. But, they are not my resource alone. They are every person's resource. The Columbian and the Sagat and the Revean and the Bator all can hunt the whale. The whale, however, is not an infinite resource. We must leave enough whales to reproduce. We must leave enough whales for a viable, thriving wild population. How can we do this, when the whale is open to all? This is a classic tragedy of the commons. Our solution is not radical. We do not want or advocate the end of whaling. The imposition of a catch limit is used to great effect in fishing, hunting, and every other form of wildlife management. Why cannot the whales and their whalers have such protection? Must we watch the whale decline, and lose our livelihood and our way of life? Or would we come together, and use our common sense to prevent this injustice?
We bear no animosity to our Columbian brothers. We wish to spare them as well as ourselves the fate of the whale's decline. We wish prosperity for Sagat and Columbian alike. Let us not have our common sense clouded by ideological warfare. We must safeguard the whale, to save the whaler."

- Sabasto Mikorioj, Sagat Whaler's Association spokesperson, on an international broadcast interview.

"Some people say that the lives of soldiers don't mean anything, but I disagree, for what I saw of our guardians here in this very city. They did not run. They did not protest for a second. They stepped forward, rifles in their hands, and... and... they stood before the eyes of God Almighty as they were taken from us. Man has a right to the fruits of his labours. Things he has personally done, and things he has personally built with his own hands. That, in short, means that man has no right to own land. Land has always existed, and will exist independently long after we are dead. It is not the fruit of labour, and therefor owning it is as much a theft to nature as taking possession of our neighbour's home, which does not belong to you.

Ah, the putschists. They think that a bit of sweat and blood they spill on a battlefield gives them the necessary knowledge to govern an entire nation, from economic to social and international affairs. (Apr. 16, 1956, after the trials of the Plot of Fourteen, in which Fourteen high ranking military officers planned to take down the Party and proclaim a military dictatorship)

Caudillo Felipe Villegas, Caudillo of Teotan from 1923-1978

"Let us take of that drink which is best, and we will drink before battle and be merry, and show in fashion what men they are, Hrolf's champions, and strive for this alone that our valour never be forgotten: for here come the greatest and brave champions of all neighboring lands. Tell it to Hjorvarth, to Skuld, and to those their bravoes, that we will drink to make us merry before we collect out tribute!"

A toast by Jarl Hrolf on the eve before a major battle with his mortal foes, Jarl Hjorvarth and his witch/wife Skuld.
For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

5/10 I suppose it might be construed as inspirational to raiders, vikings, or pirates of some sort and it also possesses a certain self-assured flare which is very endearing. However, despite it's adequate grammar and confidence, it seems to lack a certain deeper meaning. For what are your people fighting? Mere wealth? Even if that is so, you require some "more noble" cause in most cases to spark the passionate nationalism of the people.

" Allah willing, we shall succeed in this endeavor. The proletariat remain now as ever the builders of their own destiny. To attain our destiny, we require not violence but merely the will to dream of a more noble, a more just, and a more egalitarian future and the courage to enlighten the others of our presence."- Ismael M. Basri, Socialist Politician and Imam

"Admittedly, my subtle prejudices and myopic mannerisms used to render me blind and ineffectual. I observed various groups: Muslims, Arabs, Persians, Jews, Catholics, Protestants, Americans, Europeans. Now, my eyes glimpse the unabashed beauty of the world and I have realized that their is only one such group in reality. Humanity itself."- Ismael M. Basri, Socialist Politician and Imam

"I will ensure your immortality."- Maximilien J. B. R. Lucien, Ravau (General) and Socialist Politician

"Maximilien, I refuse to be immortal. The world has more than enough heroic figures at present. Besides, I retain no desire to transform into a martyr and I lack the charisma to become a symbol for Communism. All I want, all I have ever wanted, is peace and equality for all. Allah willing, I shall live to see that wish fullfilled."- Ismael M. Basri, Socialist Politician and Imam
