We were first settled on Galarth (the old continent) by various spacer groups before some of their descendants settled Ferreth (the new continent) subsequently. We were an uninhabited planet, nobody was victimised or harmed during the settlement. We've never tried settling anywhere else because the rest of our solar system is already taken and we don't fancy waging war for land

Aikoland has never been a colony and the only attempted colonisation practised by Aikoland (or rather, the Kingdom of Aiko as Aikoland did not exist yet) was the colonisation of the islands of Saint-Siméon and Saint-Barnabé in the Lesser Antilles in the 1620s.

Both colonisation attempts would ultimately fail due to poor planning by the colonisers and it being too difficult for Aiko to support foreign colonies. While the colony on Saint-Barnabé would outlast the one on Saint-Siméon by three years, both would be abandoned by the mid-1630s and Aikoland would make no further attempts to colonise the Americas nor would it make any attempts to colonise any other parts of the world.

Our nation's earliest history is often referred to as its colonial period, as it was in dispute whether the newfound Kingdom was independent or if it was still a dependency of a much larger Kingdom from which our first king had claimed to have broken away from.

During this period hundreds of settlers ventured into the interior of the island of DiaperLand to create new villages and explore the land.

The native Iwana peoples, who lived mainly in fishing communities along the country's coastlines, were either absorbed into the new communities or were forced to flee further into the island.

Many historic landmarks were built during this period, including various castles and forts that are still in existence today. Apple orchards were also planted along major river valleys and the country became the only producer of its famous apple wine in the region. These orchards demanded plenty of labor to grow and harvest, and plantation houses were also built.

Today the colonization period of DiaperLand is taught in schools as being a positive time period in the nation's history, neglecting much of the controversies that surround it.

Is, or was your nation a colonial power?
Vaipuran colonization of Greenland started in the fourteenth century, with relatively minor outposts being set up on the frigid eastern coast that eventually turned into full fledged colonies. This was the First Snow'soro colony, which lasted until 1846, when the Sub'ians attacked and managed to successfully conquer the colony during the Great Patriotic War (known internationally as the Great Lindbergite War, and known in both Lindbergas-Rosaryl and the Snowbrine Queendom as the Great Patriotic War). The colony was however reclaimed in 1870 as the Constituent Territory of Snow'soro, and rapidly expanded throughout Greenland, taking New Solens in the Lindbergian Civil War and then during the Arctic Catastrophe took the ruins of the Arctic nations for themselves, making monuments out of the past civilizations there. Greenland is still a colony of the Vaipura Queendom, though more people there are advocating for full statehood.

The Snowbrines were not colonized in their entirety, but during the Spore Golden Age (834 establishment of the Sporelaw-1648 Defeat of the Tolldernian Empire), various Spore powers had established colonies in the region, the most prominent being Nishimarian Reykjavik which lasted from 881 to 1155. Another prominent colony was the Eyegol town established in Eastern Spore by the Eyelactic Republic from 1190 to 1320. The Snowbrines were very hostile to the Spore colonial powers, and raids frequently happened by tribes (and later invasions by duchies/kingdoms) against the Spore colonies, all but one (Reykjavik, which was peacefully bought by the Kingdom of Jan'guri). The town of Eyegol is now a ghost town as a result of a massive raid by the Duchy of Pal'gari, only 8 years before its demise to the aforementioned Kingdom of Jan'guri and the unification of the Snowbrine Kingdom in 1365.

Wardland is one of the foremost colonial powers on the alternate universe Earth she inhabits. She owns archipelagos through-out her native Pacific, as well as in south-east Asia (the southern-most of which form the "Southern Colonies", whilst those to the north form the "Oriental Colonies"), and the Northern Pacific continent of Winterland (the "Northern Colonies"), and the desertic continent of Desertica (the "Western Colonies").

The Kingdom of Rwizikuru was a victim of colonization, with the first Estmerish trading post, Fort Graham, on what is now the site of Port Graham, being established in 1628, which marked the beginning of not just the colonization of Rwizikuru, but the colonization of Bahia. However, colonial influenced was confined only to trading posts until the late eighteenth century, when the St. Geoffrey's Company began transporting repatriated slaves from the Asterias to Bahia, and they set up several small settlements around the estuary of the Rwizikuru River.

After the end of the slave trade in the 1740s, and the abolition of slavery in 1795, Estmere would effectively govern not from the trade posts, but via the St. Geoffrey's Company until 1863. Estmere would only take direct control of Rwizikuru in 1863, when they revoked the charter of the St. Geoffrey's Company, and created the Colony of Riziland. This colony would roughly reach its modern-day borders by the end of the nineteenth century, and save for a period of brief Gaullican occupation during the Great War, Estmere would govern Riziland until 1946, when it became a sovereign Republic of Rwizikuru.

Prior to colonization by Britain, most of the former empires in the Indian subcontinent were colonial power houses. Indian empires, kingdoms, and crusader states ruled lands across the Indian Ocean from the East African coast to the island of New Guneia.

European colonization began in the 1800s following the power vacuum created by the fall of the Karjaras Empire which ruled an are from modern day Iran all the way to modern day Thailand.

Other empires, particularly Britain, pounced at the opportunity to gain influence and control in the Subcontinent by using the infamous divide and conquer strategy.

Since British colonization began, there were already calls for independence. Riots and rebellions occurred constantly and independence was finally achieved in 1947.

After independence, India maintained its relations with Britain and other western countries, particularly after the Sino Indian War.

We were colonized first by Spain, who gave us our name. Then we became part of the British Empire. And then we became independent after a referendum.

During Alitrus's "Fight itself for thousands of years" age, colonists began popping up everywhere, though since Alitrus was developed enough for small cities using bricks and wood, they fought back and eventually stopped colonialism at the "Dantwie River" by essentially flooding colonist ports, they were forced OUT of the nation and eventually Alitrus managed to contain the river and take back it's waters.

Rhodevus has an interesting history of both being a colony as well as a colonial empire.
The lands which make up Rhodevus was 'discovered' in 1346 by French sailor, Beaumant LaFriore. The island chain would be used as a fishing spot by Europeans for the next hundred or so years, as the waters in the Bay of Rhodevus were teeming with fish. The first colonial settlement was established in 1430, called the Port of Acadia by the French in the north of the island, where there were fewer native populations to compete against, as well as a greater source of fish and whale breeding grounds. This was quickly followed by an English settlement in the south of the island, calling the first settlement Port Joy. Colonization continued and europeans expanded quickly through the island. In a bid to prevent war over land on the island, the French and English governors agreed to cooperation over the entire island chain, calling it the 'Joint Colony' which became the official name of the area for the next few decades.

In 1517-1627, a series of battles, wars, and skirmishes between the dozens of indigenous tribes and expanding colonies took place, called The Rhodevan-Colonial Wars. What resulted was a decimation of large swathes of native populations; mainly through disease, as well as a local disease passing through the colonies called Flux Plague. During this time, the colony starts to be referred to as Rhodevus, and its people Rhodeve or Rhodeven. In 1699-1701, the Failed Revolution takes place, where colonists attempted to claim independence.

Independence however, was granted in 1715 after a deal was forged between the Laaban tribe of Rhodevus, and the French and English colonists, which gave the group enough political and military power to consider a second independence war. It was unneeded, and the Republic of Rhodevus was established in 1715.

Thus marks the end of the colony days of Rhodevus. There is still about one hundred and thirty years before what can be known as the 'modern Rhodevus' was born. That's because, from 1715 until the Rhodeve Collapse in 1845, Rhodevus expanded into a massive maritime empire, and for a time, was the dominant naval force in the world. How it happened so soon after independence very much came down to luck, timing and massive amounts of resources that Rhodevus could bring to play.

In 1717, the Six Years' War broke out. In a move to both expand and help it's allies, Rhodevus declared war on, and subsequently annexed the Kingdom of Galaria. This was quickly followed by two more military victories, which gave the young country control over two other small countries. By 1724, Rhodevus was already colonizing it's neighbour island (alongside the other european powers who had previously colonized its since the 1500s), alongside its military expansion.

In 1750, Rhodevus was the dominant naval force globally, establishing a Pax Rhodeo. After a quick stint of true Empiredom, under Empress Emilia Hart and then her son Montgomery Hart between 1794-1812, the 2nd Rhodeve Republic reached its territorial height in 1822.

Not long after, others realize that the empire had expanded too quickly, suffering major defeats in the subsequent years. This reached a breaking point in 1840, when all at once, multiple enemies of Rhodevus declared war, and multiple colonies declared their independence. The ensuing wars lasted until 1845, with a Rhodeve defeat, which destroyed the empire and brought the republic down with it. This time from 1840-1845 was known as the Rhodeve Collapse, and could technically be considered the first global war.

Scytharum has a long history of colonial rule, with the Portuguese and Spanish initially splitting the South American continent largely between themselves, instituting and solidifying their rule and cultures there. However, not too long after this initial spurt, the English won a war against Spain and Portugal, being given Gibraltar and some of its territories by Spain and Brazil by Portugal, the latter of which saw immense settlement by those coming from the British Isles, similarly to how America was settled in our own timeline. Once Scytharum declared its independence in 1777, securing it in only a couple of years, its contiguous territory slowly grew until 1815, when Scytharum reached its modern day contiguous and Patagonian borders. Eventually, Scytharum established a fairly large settlement in West Africa, as not only a place to send emancipated slaves but also an outpost to patrol the Gold Coast and Atlantic alongside the British to end the slave trade. This settlement later became Liberia, which in the Berlin Conference was expanded to its modern day borders, becoming a semi-independent state of Scytharum. In the late 1890s, as well, Scytharum would go to war with Spain, gaining Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines, with Scytharum also carving out its own sphere of influence in China southwest of Manchuria, though this would be abandoned fairly early on to let the Chinese economy there go its own way. As well, after the Second World War, Scytharum would occupy India for a brief time, due to the inability for the restored British government to do so, after which India and Pakistan became independent, though the Scythians also gave Bangladesh its independence immediately. Scytharum would give Puerto Rico, Cuba, Liberia, Guam, and the Philippines all their independence around this time as well, leading to relatively good relations between all of them.

The island on which the Free City now stands was part of Nova Algarve, a plantation and trading colony of Portugal. During its existence, the land on which the city is founded was once a quilombo in which slaves seeking freedom lived. Nowadays, the City supports pacifist decolonisation via aiding impoverished ex-colonies with building civil groups and guiding state services.

Aquilara itself is a former colony of first Spanish then English empires. Upon arriving here in the 1600s, early colonizers found only a smattering of scattered villages and numerous ruins depicting Hindu and Buddhist dieties. The spices and other resources made for an attractive trading post location.

Today the county is a modern multi-ethnic, multi-linguistic independent country.

Our nation is fiercely opposed to colonialism. Our nation inhabits one Island-- which was uninhabited before our nation's founders moved there in 1972-- and will not expand. The only exception to that policy is that we may (1) take and temporarily occupy territory during a war to keep our Island safe (e.g., if a nearby Island is being used to launch missiles at us), OR (2) if the people of that territory/Island decide, by popular vote, to join us, AND our Island decides, by popular vote, to take them.

Originally (under King Paul, 1972-2001) our Island was fiercely isolationist. Currently, King Alexander (2001-Present) is slightly less hostile to the US's brand of colonialism, while still staunchly against outright colonialism, like Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Rivogna was born as an Italian colony, but I have two mutually exclusive histories I am considering for my lore:

1. After Christopher Colombus's (re)discovery of America, the Iberian Union colonized modern-day Rivogna and exclusively gave the area to Neapolitan settlers. At that time, the Kingdom of Naples was under Spanish rule. Rivogna would become an independent country through revolution after the Spanish tried to assimilate Central America. Another reason for the revolt was the tensions between the ruling class, the Mayans, and the Italian working class.
2. The powerful republics in Northern Italy (Florence, Genoa, Venice, Pisa, and others) gather enough influence to unite under a confederation to protect their mercantile interests effectively. The new Italian Confederation would take advantage of Castile's preoccupation with their war in Grenada and support the Moors in exchange for control over the Strait of Gibraltar. The Strait of Gibraltar would later enable the Italian Confederation to explore parts of the Americas after Columbus's (re)discovery, leading to the creation of colonial Rivogna. After that, the Rivognans revolt for the latter reason described in the first scenario.

The Terren Dominion is a colonial empire at the height of its power. Terren's colonies are each run by Colonial Governors, each of whom act as demi-kings of their own territory, although they are all beholden to Emperor Luka. The western colonies are the oldest colonies, each founded by one of the 4 main kingdoms of Terren. The colony of Helvetii is a military colony controlled by the Legions of the empire as a training ground. Finally, the Port city of Alorian is an island that seceded from the kingdom it was a part of and joined under Terren as a vassal state. The colonies formed were all in the uninhabited territory, except for North Leviatheagle, which had some native inhabitants. Terren has so far maintained cordial relations with the indeciduous inhabitants, trading with them and supplying them with modern amenities in exchange for land rights. Terren has no intention of giving up its colonial empire anytime soon.

Obrela was once a Pacific colony of Japan during the height of the Japanese Empire and was frequently used as an air and ship base for the nation. After the events of the Second World War and the fall of the Japanese Empire, the territories were divided up and Great Britain gained ownership of Obrela, until 1976. By then the British Empire was crumbling around them, and Obrela decided to go. They formally gained complete independence on 24th September 1976, now known as Obrelan Independence Day.
