Cars are the primary mode of transportation in Zaskaye. In fact, it's deeply encouraged as we see the tree-hugging environmentalists as actively harmful to the economy.

Old designs of AvtoVAZ and GAZ are built under licence in Razenland, as are vehicles from our own car plants, such as GorAZ (Gorinsk Automobile Plant) and RazAZ (Razenland Automobile Plant). Different towns have plants to build different forms of transport, such as buses or trucks or trams. Modern-looking designs are uncommon but research is taking place into replacement of petrol and diesel vehicles with greener alternatives.

Trams, being electric, remain popular in many towns. Though new variants have not been introduced for many years, it is understood that the country's new eco town will benefit from new designs when it has been built, as will the capital city, allowing extant models to be cascaded into other towns.

Motorsport is popular in Razenland but road vehicles are usually considered utilitarian rather than showy.

There's a pretty strong car culture in Aristoria, with a good number of people considering themselves 'petrolheads' - indeed, even President Henri Phillipe wrenches on his small collection of cars. Motorsports are relatively popular, car modding is common, many brand or region-specific car clubs exist, and most people get a license at 16. Almost everyone who has owned a car has had a fun or unique car at some point.

That being said, 5-door hatchbacks and compact sedans are currently the most popular vehicles, with small SUVs/crossovers not too far behind. On a daily basis, most people use mass transit to get to and from work/school, with private cars typically used for errands, leisure activities, and social calls.

Car owners are a minority in Aldina; for the average person, they're just not all that necessary for getting around in Aldish cities, nor are they an economical option for long-distance travel compared to the extensive rail and ferry networks. However, Aldina does maintain an automobile industry, both domestically and for export; Aldish cars and trucks have a reputation for being cheap and reliable, but not especially large, stylish, or powerful. The closest thing Aldina has to a "car culture" would be the small but passionate racing and hot-rodding scenes.

In Syagros, with its walkable cities, excellent bike paths, and world-famous rail system that heavily employs bullet-speed maglevs, cars play a small role in the nation compared to others.

In some rural mountain villages of Syagros, you have to take a rail, or even a cable car to get into them, you can't use a car.

That said, there is a vibrant, if albeit small car culture in Syagros.

For practical purposes, Syagrots generally prefer small, compact cars. On one hand, large SUVs are all but banned for safety reasons, but generally, they're just seen as impractical.

That said, Syagrot car companies can get incredibly inventive, challenging conventions. Futuristic, novel designs that appear out of a Synthwave music video are popular.

Ev's also enjoy widespread adoption, at 85% of the market in current sales.

And every year, the capital of the nation, Hektor, holds an F1 tournament that is widely attended.

Postby Infinitta » Sat Nov 19, 2022 9:34 pm

The automotive industry of Infinitta really started under the First Socialist Republic era. AFFB (infinittan for Infinittan Factory of People's Cars) was the only manufacturer of cars and produced only microcars. They were reliable, had their offroad versions and were constantly updated, but were very slow, with a maximum speed of 75 km/h. These models were released under the series 2000, with the final digit being added by one with every generation. The most popular model was the AFFB 2006, released in 1972 alongside its off-road counterpart, the 2006-X. However, public transportation was preferred in the city life and cars were used mostly in off-road surfaces and for travelling. It was during the period that the Infinitta Highway, the main highway of the country, was finished, connecting most of the states. It was also in those times that car racing rose in popularity between infinittans. The AFFB 2000-X series were often used to rallycross racing and tweaking.

After the socialist regime, Infinitta stopped investing on public transportation in favour of cars and road. In forty years under capitalism (with a decade under neoliberal politics), cars became more affordable and popular. Saloons, bigger hatchbacks and some SUVs took the place which was once occupied by the microcars. Infinitta also started importing cars from neighbour Ravenmark and other rich nations of the continent. Ravenmark's luxury saloons and SUVs had their peak of popularity between the upper classes during the 90's, in the neoliberal Johansson's government. But the growing infinittan automotive industry dominated between the lower classes and exported cars to socialist neighbour Ranyria. Some national brands appeared in the market, first selling rebadged models of manufacturers from abroad, and later producing original models. One of these new brands merged with AFFB, marking an end to the once synonym name of infinittan cars.

In 1985, Infinitta held a round of the International Rally Championship, which took part in the northern region of the country. The event is held until this day as the Nordic Rally, now racing from Ravenmark to Ranyria, passing mostly through Infinitta and its challenging off-road sections in the north. Many infinittan drivers race in the IRC and IRXS, the International Rallycross Series, with some of them being champions of the latter, due to the strong infinittan culture in the category. There are many local rally and rallycross competitions, which developed the main car scene of infinitta: off-road tuning for compact cars. The Infinittan GP was an event of the World Grand Prix calendar from 1996 to 2009 and came back for 2019 only. All of the races were hosted in Vadstuna Park, a road course in the southwestern state of Vankaster.

The newly established revolutionary socialist government plans to focus back on public transportation, walkable cities and sustainable mobility. A ban on SUV models in cities was the first reform during the new popular government, due to their high fuel consumption and high risk of fatalities by run overs. However, the New Communist Party does not plan on banning cars altogether.

Car dependence has never taken off in the Huterric Union, and Huterric people have a bordering on annoying amount of hatred for car centric city design. Our incumbent president's political career started due to her controversial, yet now popular policies to eradicate cars from city centre streets across the nation. That's not factoring in the fact that despite their high quality, Huterric roads within towns, villages, and cities are infamously narrow where in many cases the footpaths and bicycle lanes are larger than the drive-able road itself. Cities are not built for the car, and modern city planning actively builds against their use in favour of walking, cycling, or public transit.

On the contrary though, inter-city highways carry no speed limit and it's easy to go between cities by car. The inter-city road system is very carefully planned out, and there is a central highway bisecting the nation that by chance bypasses some of our largest cities which the entire system centres around (known as H0). As like our roads in general the lanes on these highways are narrow, they take up less space than in other countries. Highways within cities are often forced underground, and the anti-car rhetoric applies to viaducts too where famously in our capital, Liberty Market was built under the H0 as to avoid an eyesore viaduct. Today Liberty Market exclusively houses independent retailers and is a tourist spot in its own right.

As a result, most Huterric cars are absolutely tiny to accommodate the narrow city streets and lanes that can be navigated but can also go insanely fast on highway grade roads. There is an even split between those who have a car for inter-city transport and those who go full public transport. All cars manufactured in the Huterric Union are to be electric, so the big step forward is the use of electric cars with this model.

Our nation's automotive industry is much smaller than its regional neighbors, so many of the vehicles driven in DiaperLand are imported from abroad. In the island's past small German-style sedans were the most popular vehicles in the country, although in recent decades American-style SUVs and trucks have become far more popular, especially in the interior of the country.

A unique feature in DiaperLand's car culture is the addition of many aftermarket parts and colorful paintjobs given to imported vehicles. Everything from racing stripes to glowing neon undercarriage lights are very popular, especially among the younger driving population.

Despite the large amount of cars, there's not a lot on the road even with a 66% car ownership rate, most civilians take the extensive public transport network, take a taxi or just walk to get wherever they need to go.

That being said, solarians are all about their lifted hatchbacks and imports, while domestic cars are usually modded for the street, most cars are built with hover tech, but quite a few wheel purists still exist

Buggys are also quite a popular thing, especially when based off of an undesirable car, such as the Ford Ka

Cars are not very popular in the Entity. Only high public officials, emergency and community services, and the wealthy have them. Everyone else commutes by bike, tram or bus. Expensive import duties, petrol taxes and regulatory fees impede the adoption of cars as popular personal transport.

The few cars present in the roads are usually luxury sedans or crossover utes. The Monarchy uses Volvos, the Government uses Mercedes-Benzes and the emergency services uses Dacias, Skodas and SEATs. All of these are retrofitted for right-hand driving, to burn biofuels and to run on battery electricity. Private automobile owners buy their cars for outside the nation, as there are no dealerships in the city. Japanese and British cars predominate the roads, due to the Entity driving on the right.

There is a community of car enthusiasts modifying old Japanese, British or European cars to today's raceworthiness or roadworthiness standards. Some of these cars can be seen parading their automobiles at national holidays, usually carrying partygoers on club crawls around the city. However, the Transport Group of the Environment Office disallows them from plying the roads, because they endanger pedestrians and public transport, and that their drivers do not have licences.

Car culture is very alive in the United States. In fact, major car companies we see today are made in the United States of America. Such examples are Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, and many more. Automobiles dominate American roads everywhere in the country, with 4 out of 5 Americans owning a car while 2 out of 5 Americans have owned more than one car. Indeed, the industrial capacity and power of the Grand American Union Republic have made the automobile industry dominate everyday American life. Automobile companies like Ford, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and many more recognizable brands dominate the American markets and as well abroad.

Automobiles used by Americans vary, vehicle type ranges from sedans to SUVs, muscle cars, sports cars, convertibles, and also a wide variety of customized automobiles. Car culture is very strong in the United States, so much so that numerous sports and competition events exist due to the strong automobile culture and industry of the nation. This also resulted in the growth of the lowrider and muscle car communities and is almost a national sport that became part of American culture as a whole.

Cars turned into a symbol of personal freedom and independence, allowing us to travel throughout the nation at will. For many families, the famous American road trip is a ritual. The destination itself, often overlooked, holds little value, as that feeling of liberty and the ability to travel to any desired location in the country alongside your family and friends is what brings immense joy. The complex infrastructure designed around your car makes this activity even better.

The American car culture developed in the 1950s and has since seen enduring effects in the country's culture as reflected in popular music, movies, and much more.

Car Culture in Cascadia, car ownership is not rare, being seen as an option to public transit or walking. We have some big car company manufacturers like PRVÉT, Revolution, Queensville or Arlstar. For those guys in Bellevue who make trucks? They are also pretty cool. For Racing, Its pretty crazy. We have 3 major racing competition leagues with an additional motorcycle league. Average viewership for any racing league is 16.41 million, highest recorded viewership in 2020, with 25.04 million Viewers.

Private automobiles have been illegal in the Holy Catholic State since 1970. Only very important or high-ranking officials may own a personal car (or train, in the case of the Archbishop), which number less than 100 in the entire nation. Service and emergency vehicles (trucks, buses, police cars, ambulances, etc.) are allowed, but they're all owned by the state, not by private individuals.

As for the few who are lucky enough to be allowed a car, the most popular choice is the Luso Grande Lisboa, a large luxury sedan or station wagon, or its smaller sibling, the Luso Lisboa. Both resemble classic American "land yachts" from the 60s and 70s in looks, features and driving characteristics: conservative styling, plush roomy interior, automatic transmission, effortless steering, and a floaty insulated ride. Basically, they're built to be comfortable, powerful and easy to drive, but not performance-oriented or technologically cutting-edge, since the typical owner (likely some higher-up in the government or Church) isn't going to care much for the latter two—or fuel economy, for that matter, as gas is paid for by the state.

Tuning/modding culture also isn't a thing in Portugal, as owners are usually more concerned with comfort than with speed or appearance, as mentioned. At most, some owners might decorate the interiors of their vehicles with crucifixes or other icons of Christianity, but ostentatious stuff like decals, aftermarket rims, custom exhausts, etc. is virtually unheard of.

Road safety enforcement is non-existent. For those who are allowed to drive in the Holy Catholic State, the rules are only suggestions and are broken all the time, occasionally with deadly results—usually pedestrians and cyclists, but sometimes the drivers too, when their cars flip over or slam into things. All in all, however, fatalities and serious injuries are quite rare, averaging less than 10 per year, due to the sheer lack of traffic on the nation's roads. Road tax and tolls are also non-existent, and for good reason—with how few cars there are in Portugal, they wouldn't cover the cost of maintaining the road system, unless they costed more than the cars themselves! Instead, that cost is paid from the general government budget.

In a nutshell, the Holy Catholic State is a paradise for car owners, with free fuel, no speed limits, and very little traffic... if you're privileged enough to be one. Everybody else can walk, cycle or take the bus.

Oskenians prefer small, compact sedans and coupes for the most part, with the most popular manufacturers including Ford, Mercedes, BMW, and VW. Almost every Oskenian who lives outside of a major city center owns their own vehicle, although living in a major metropolitan area typically means that access to public transportation or alternative means of transport such as biking or walking is commonplace, with few needing cars to get around.

Since 2003, all full-size American pickup trucks are banned from sale in Oskenia, with the only exceptions being purpose-built trucks used for emergency services, utility work, or various other government/private sector industries. Due to Oskenia's fairly narrow roads, winding highways, and generally lazy, relaxed view on driving, full-size American trucks are not viewed as ideal transportation, and are seen as liabilities. The largest truck you'll see in Oskenia would be a mid-size vehicle such as a Chevrolet Colorado or Ford Ranger, which are very popular with the agricultural working-class.

While Oskenia's domestic car industry is not a powerhouse, companies such as Levett, Vernier, and PNG maintain a fairly large presence in national vehicle sales, with Levett and Vernier partnering to produce purpose-built designs for government and military use. Vernier is also a popular manufacturer of agricultural equipment such as tractors and harvesters.

While there is a prominent community of hobby racing enthusiasts, Oskenia lends itself primarily to the off-road and long-distance car cultures, with "Overlanding" and long-distance truck rally racing being some of the more popular past-times of Oskenian greasemonkeys. There is an especially strange cult-following around the Vernier-produced C80 "Light Combat Utility Vehicle" (LCUV) which have recently been sold off in droves by the military as surplus and converted into overlanding projects by enthusiasts.

In most parts of North Macaronesia, 50s, 60s, and 70s style muscle cars are what most locals are dreaming of. Due to the US's influence in the 70s, car culture has evolved to wrap around the idea of a palm-tree-lined, beachside street with colorful muscle cars. However, common cars are usually compact sedans or convertibles. In the wealthier parts, you can find more electric vehicles like Teslas. The government, though, has announced a plan to ban the sale of all gasoline-powered cars by 2030, instead turning to public transport and electric vehicles.
