The primary national value (and therefore government passion) of Tangatarehua is the concept of Mana which could be loosely translated as "honour".

As such most government communications, especially international ones, are concerned with being "honourable" and ensuring that Tangatarehua always takes what it considers the 'honourable' course of action.

This is also partially a result of the nation being plagued with guilt over atrocities that it committed during the 20th century and as such it is hell-bent on trying to redeem itself as a nation in the eyes of the world and be seen as 'honourable' again in the face of its highly 'dishonourable' actions in the past.
