The obviously blue sky represents the natural order and how we totally wish to uphold it. We are extremely in touch with reality.

The purple seawater represents the difficulties that must be traversed before we can take advantage of those opportunities.

Many people are confused about the question mark. I mean, they wouldn't be, if they interpreted it as a sickle, as it properly should be. A well-made sickle is both a weapon and a tool of agriculture. You can lose everything, but if you keep a sickle, you cannot go wrong!

[Adwilaur]

The blue, red and yellow background represents the national colours of Adwilaur. These colours have represented the country throughout it's history, for centuries. The flag was originally just these three colours, but after Adwilaur adopted Socialism, it was edited to include the black and white star, alongside the hammer, gear and sickle.

These icons generally represent Socialism. The Hammer, Gear and Sickle specifically represents workers' unity and solidarity, whilst the meaning of the star is up for interpretation. Black and white were selected as to not clash or merge with the colourful background.

[Exarkyon]

The black background remembers the dark colors and camouflage worn by cloaked Catholic guerillas of the 1870s who helped their fellow brethren escape persecution. Those who did escape formed Exarkyon.

The white cross is a background feature inserted to allow Exarkyon's flag to conform to the normal standard of flags in the region, which have a two-color background and a two-color foreground charge. Here is usually included some national symbol associated with the people, but Exarkyon quite literally had no heritage other than its faith. Therefore, a cross was deemed appropriate.

The gray lozenge is a shape chosen to represent Iraxon, the man who was made the first leader by the people. His own personal insignia made use of the shape prominently, and so it was decided to include it in the foreground charge. It is colored gray so that it stands out from the background while still allowing prominence to the central figure, which is the most important.

The kruckenkreuz represents Catholicism (in particular, as opposed to other denominations), colored yellow as that color is seen to represent the Church in the area. It is the central and most prominent figure on the flag.

While the blue-white-blue triband has long been a symbol of Trennish unity, its exact meaning is disputed. The most common theory is that it represents the ocean, which has historically been the lifeblood of Trennland as an island nation; to this day, Trennland's maritime industries are some of the strongest in the world.

The emblem on the center band is the Rose of Labor, one of the traditional symbols of socialism.

The gold represents the wealth of Lothria and its ruling dynasty, while the black symbolizes the struggles and hardships endured by House Gaunt and Lothria over the centuries. The raven, the symbol of House Gaunt, represents intelligence and loyalty. Ravens remember faces particularly well, and thus the bird is also a warning that we do not forget insults so easily.
