Purple is seen as the colour of royalty and the Presidency of the Central Committee and representing power in general.

Red is seen as a colour of anger. Gallows are painted red, and battle standards, even though they are not taken into battle and are ceremonial only except for warships, are mostly red with some gold added.

Green is seen as a colour of nature.

Black is for mourning, undertakers, graves and the like.

Pink is widely seen as a girly colour.

White is innocence; Green is fertility; Orange is prosperity.

Ausslaugand derives white from the British and Dutch flags, indirectly symbolising the peace and unification of the British-Dutch crowns and cultures. Green is the fertility that bestowed Ausslaugand and its imperial/seafaring past. Orange is the most ancient one, representing both the House of Orange-Nassau and Dutch language.

Being a western country, Amerada's color symbolism is synonomous with that of America.

Red = power, aggression, danger, lust, courage, desire, anger (hence the phrase "seeing red")

Blue = trust, security, calmness, conservatism (hence why the Conservative Party is colored Blue), sadness (hence the phrase "in the blues"). It is also associated with males and masculinity, hence why boys' clothes/aesthetics are often blue, and why some restrooms have the male symbol colored blue if colored.

Yellow = joy, cowardice (hence the phrase "yellow-bellied"), fear, caution (hence why some road signs are yellow), frequently associated with children.

Green = healing, nature (hence why the Eco Party is colored green), health, jealousy

Black = evil, depression, the mourning color

White = purity, faith, cleanliness

Pink = softness, sweetness, femininity, hence why girls' clothes/aesthetics are often pink, and why some restrooms have the female symbol colored pink if colored.

The colour blue:
Specifically darker blue represented the monarchy of old Seld-Cordan. It is a colour that represents blessings, sanctity, the Vael-Atan faith and peace. In old Seldic paintings (that often revolve around Vael-Atan stories and parables), one can usually tell the important characters by the blue cloaks they wear.

The colour white:
White represents purity of thought and action, clarity of ideas and is another colour representing peace. It also represents potential and emptiness, with something white able to be painted any other colour. White is often used in light in old paintings to represent inspiration.

The colour platinum:
Throughout most of Seldarion history, platinum held a special place in Seldaris colour symbolism. During the monarchy, it represented the unattainability of the monarchy, platinum being the metal used to make the crown jewels of Seld-Cordan. However, when the Seldic Democracy was declared, the meaning shifted, it being seen as a mixture between blessings and purity, sanctity and clarity. When the Second Summer Coup occurred, overthrowing the Democracy and beginning the Coulcisen, it became seen as a colour that represented the entire Seldarion people. The feeling is often encapsulated in the phrase "Twelve Kings were Seldarion, but now all Seldarion are kings".

The colour red:
The colour red is associated with blood, life, fortitude and determination. For someone to be called "red", they are likely quite full-on, loud and boisterous, and determined to reach a goal.

The colour dark red:
Dark red is seen as somewhat distinct in Seldaris culture symbology. It is a symbol of deceit, corruption, lying, assassination and ruthlessness.

The colour green:
Green represents the ground, the grass and trees, and is in many ways a secondary colour that represents blessings and sanctity. It also represents equality, law and duty to the community. It was also the key colour of the Seldic Democracy.

The colour gold:
Gold is the replacement of both yellow and orange for the Seldarion. It represents duty, the call to lead (a concept known as dotaen in the Seldaris language), ambition, volition, self-righteousness and liberty.

The colour purple:
Purple is the colour that represents love, lust, fertility, openness, seclusion and secrecy. Quite far from being a symbol of regality, were a monarch to be called "purple" was to suggest that they love below their station, they cheapen themselves or their secrets are out. As an aside, beetroot (known as purple-root in Seldaris) is considered the food most associated with lust and decadence.

The colour brown:
Brown is the colour of pragmaticism, realism, down-to-earth thinking, plainness and "the way things are". In the time of the Kingdom of Seld-Cordan, it was a colour that represented guile and subterfuge, however this association was definitely a racist one, and while the cultural transition away from that idea is not fully complete, the associations between the colour and those ideas has certainly lessened.

The colour black:
The colour of darkness, mystery, hidden things, untapped potential and coldness. "A black morning" is one where the sky is darkened, the winds are cold and all seems miserable, and these such days have often been associated with plots and schemes.

The colour silver:
Silver is associated with stubbornness, grit, desire for justice, incorruptibility and self-assuredness. However, it is also seen as the colour most easily "feigned", so to speak. To put up a "silver shield" is to disguise your ambition behind lofty aims, and "to coat oneself in silver" is to appear legitimate while actually being the opposite. A Seldaris saying is "the silver elf has silver blood, while an elf coated in silver has blood of dark red".

The colour grey:
Grey is associated with inconstancy, inconsistency, being noncommittal, infidelity, heresy, loneliness and drowsiness. Its associations are all so negative that grey is almost never used to represent anything at all, usually being a background to show other colours more clearly.
The Protectorate of Seld-Cordan, or The Coulcisen
Note: there is an etymology in my factbook, should it be required.
