I beg to differ on that last statement, nuclear weapons detonated at near-space atltitude leave no nuclear radiation on the land or in the air, it just knocks out all electronics in a 200 mile radius.

No. However, there ARE rumors of a "salmonella bomb", which would, when exploded, release salmonella bacteria into the air to infect people's digestive systems and make the nauseous. Salmonella is abundant on the shells of turtles, so it is easy to obtain and grow.

Description of the weapon: All TurtleShroom nukes look like this and explode with a force of 17MT, slightly less than the RL USA's Trinity Test. The mushroom cloud is much, MUCH larger than any other, though. The Republic can only make these bombs, and no other forms. They use enriched uranium and are fission bombs. No plans to upgrade the tonnage or shrink the bomb are even remotely considered. Any more powerful bombs (or those using nuclear fusion) gifted or purchased in the name of goodwill are locked away in a vault known only by top military positions, and no one knows how to use them.
