National Factbook of Anagonia V5.5 (CLOSED)

Introduction to these National Factbooks of the Confederate States

The Confederate States of Anagonia is a diverse, multicultural nation divided between the needs of its independent sovereign states and the citizens upon which its founding principles serves. The majority of the Confederate States are rural communities and townships dotting the vast landscapes between the large metropolitan cities and extensive farmlands and natural land preserves. The average Anagonian enjoys a life primarily concentrated on outdoor activities; hunting, fishing, hiking, pilgrimages, road trips, and other outdoor activities are at the top of citizen activities. This lifestyle was predominate for many decades until recently, where a small but growing of suburban communities has begun to form on the outskirts of major city centers and in the middle of the distances between rural townships and urban cities.

A powerful nation, the Confederacy exists as a testament to the unity between three ancient ideals; Populism, Imperialism, and Conservatism. This can be traced back to the warring nations of Nodea Rudav, Drekamythia, and Anagonia in ancient times. Eventually, the three cultures and nations would merge under the Anagonian banner, forming a "United Republic" that would stand the test of time - until it didn't. The aftermath of its fall resulted in the formation of the Confederate States, wherein a new preservation of rights and liberties took priority to enshrine the cultural heritage of the nations diverse perspectives.

The most interesting facet of the Confederacy is that the centralized Confederal Government exists entirely for the defense and diplomatic representation of member-states. While funding is allocated to a proper administration, the Constitution permits only streamlined guidance from this centralized government to its states. The states have full rights, their own governments, and their own defense forces. It is by a unifying effort of all peoples and states that the Confederate States of Anagonia continues to exist; lessons learned from a hard past ensuring that they never are repeated again.

These Factbooks, segmented and listed below, exist to explain the inner workings of the Confederacy as well as statistical overviews of itsfundamentals. Government of the Confederate States (Updated)

Government Overview

The Government of the Confederate States was created into existence by the signing of the Constitution of the Confederate States after the collapse of the government of the United Republic of Anagonia. Prior to the formation of the Confederacy, the government was a more federally-based, centralized entity that exhibited power over the nation through various means. This lead to an overbearing, and extremely over-confident government that eventually collapsed in the aftermath of a World War. The government of the Confederate States was thereafter established by fourteen surviving members of the old government following the collapse, with full intention to never repeat the mistakes that led to such a powerful and corrupt governing entity.

In modern times, the government of the Confederate States acts a mediator between the various states within the Confederacy. It has centralized authority over national matters, and enacts defense and civil protection through the use of the Military, but exhibits very little authority in state matters until authorized by those states to do so. The Congress of the Confederacy continues its constitutional obligation to ensure a clear line of communication between the states and government, and enacts the will of the people through representatives of those states to and through the government.

Elaboration on the Executive Branch Structure
The Executive Branch consists of Departments of the President and Vice-President presiding at the top and overseeing all departments underneath them, within constitutional limits. The Department of the President is primarily responsible with the formation of new departments as well as restructuring of any department within their authority. Since the governance of the 8th President of the Confederate States, President Rudolf Jarod Hart (55 AUR - 60 AUR), the Executive Branch has consisted of two levels of Cabinet Departments.

The first level of Cabinets, the Senior Cabinet, consists of Departments with multiple roles and considered extremely essential to the functioning of proper government and support to and for the Departments of the President and Vice President. The Senior Cabinet generally consists of one singular Department which consists of several roles. Some of the Senior Cabinets also oversee the Junior Cabinet Departments.

The second level of Cabinets, the Junior Cabinet, consists of Departments with singular roles and objectives and thereby are considered not generally essential to the functioning of proper government, with the exception of CASA due to national security importance. Generally the heads of these singular Cabinet Departments report to superiors in the Senior Cabinet, with the primary objective of supporting the Senior Cabinet in the functioning of everyday governance and national security.

The only exception to the rule of governance for both Senior and Junior Cabinets is that of Cabinet Departments headed by military officials. These departments are primarily governed by the authorities of the Articles of the Armed Forces of the Confederacy, and while they operate traditionally under the authority of the President, they may be sequestered by a reigning military official - elected by Joint Assembly of Chiefs and Commanding Officers - in times of national emergency.

Senior Cabinet
Note: Senior Cabinet appointed by President with Grand Congressional Approval. Exceptions are Military Cabinets which may be appointed by vote of Joint Military Assembly in times of crisis. Senior Cabinet consists of major essential government positions. Typically, all Senior Cabinet Departments operate with a specific objective, but some Departments also lead Junior Cabinet Departments as overseeing administrators.

People of the Confederate States (Updated 2021)

People of the Confederate States

Image

People - Overview

The People of the Confederate States are as diverse as they are unique. Each region of the nation and each state exhibit their own special flavor of culture, with much having adapted and evolved over the centuries. Many tourists who visit the nation eventually decide to settle down, contributing further to the unique culture of whichever town or city they happen to inhabit. A very welcoming people by nature, the Confederate citizens of Anagonia tend to be open-minded to various social issues, so long as they do not infringe on the basic moral fabric that binds the nation together. A prime example of this is the nations openness towards homosexuality, as it exists as a natural state that is rarely placed into question. Issues such as abortion, however, are highly contested due to the believed avoidance of the act and the implied sacredness of the interpretation of a child.

The two main ethnic groups of the nation that are considered "Native" existed well before the founding of the United Republic. The first group are Native Anagonians, those who arrived first thousands of years ago and were the first to encounter the Dragons of Drekamythia and establish the national religion of Drekanity. The next are Anglo-Saxons, or Caucasians, which came only a mere hundred years later. The two groups coexisted, due in large part to Drekanity and the Dragons themselves. Later immigrants would cause civil strife as nations developed in the areas now forming the nation as a whole. Foreign ideals, foreign ways, would contribute to a period of division that would ultimately end in the formation of the United Republic.

The Confederate States of Anagonia continues this tradition of maintaining, preserving, and keeping the peace between the various inhabitants of the country. While xenophobic tendencies exists towards immigrants from other nations, the populations of these nations are low, and typically stay out of the way of society or eventually leave the country altogether. Generally, the population of the Confederacy is ethnically diverse and extremely intolerant of outside inclusion, save for meritorious service in the Military to earn citizenship.

The exception to the human population is a very secluded non-human population that was saved from genocide during the age of the United Republic. These tribes purposefully seclude themselves in various communities to continue their traditions in peace and their children occasionally grow to be given a choice to either assimilate into Anagonian society or continue living in these communities. These tribes are extremely welcomed by society as a whole, and racism in any form towards them is extremely rare if non-existent - and not tolerated.

Military of the Confederate States (Updated)

Postby Anagonia » Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:01 pm

Military of the Confederate States

Image
Battle Flag of the Confederate States, Representing the Military

Military - Overview

The Military of the Confederate States was established into law with the signing of the Constitution of the Confederate States, and thereafter regulated by the Articles of the Armed Forces of the Confederacy. The military leadership has the legal authority to VETO any congressional or government action that would endanger the wording and purpose of the Constitution and, accordingly, the People the military was created to defend. It cannot, in any capacity, initiate a military takeover of the government - except by election of military officials who may run for office. It additionally has the responsibility of Civil Protection through the Military Police, as established by the Constitution.

Each state within the Confederacy maintains a militia of fighting men and women for the purpose of defense through compulsory military service laws. Depending on the avenue an individual takes after their mandatory term, they can continue their service in the national Confederate Military which includes all branches of the Confederate Armed Forces; Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard, Special Forces, Defense Forces and Orbital Defense. The Military is intended to act not only as protector of the people it serves, but also as mediator between disputes of states and individuals, as established in the constitution.

Military Directive
The Confederate States Military is primarily concerned with defending the vital avenue of trade lanes that feed the growing economy of the Confederate States. Considered a primary defense concern, export and import trade is the number one source that provides the Citizens of the Confederate States with a stable job, life, and means to provide for themselves. As such, the Confederate States Military has geared all branches towards providing instantaneous response to threats to trade and economic growth.

-Lines of Defense
The Confederate States Military has structured its branches to respond to threats in a "line of defense" method. The lines of defense are as follows:

1.) The first line of defense in this objective is the Confederate States Navy and Confederate States Marine Corps The CSN has been trimmed and bolstered to respond to threats in both international trade lanes and domestic waters surrounding Anagonia. The Confederate States Marine Corps works closely with the Confederate States Navy should the mission require, providing its own naval assets and ground force assets to complete and secure mission objectives. The Confederate States Navy is also on call to provide naval transport for all branches.

2.) The second line of defense is the Confederate States Air Force, which actively patrols the coasts of Anagonia and inland to provide a visible defensive presence to deter criminal activity. The Confederate States Air Force is also on call to provide air lift services to all branches.

3.) The third line of defense is provided by the Confederate States Military Police and Confederate States Defense Forces. The CSDF provides all around protection and intelligence gathering which supports all other branches of the military, as well as directs National Guard and Coast Guard assets to Areas of Concern (AoC). The Confederate States Military Police provides a visible presence on the nations interstate highways and roadways as well as provides the nations civil protection.

4.) The fourth line of defense is provided by the Confederate States Army, which are on call should the third line of defense be jeopardized or by request of any branch to assert authority and security domestically and internationally. The Confederate States Army is also on call to provide land-based transport for all branches.

5.) The fifth line of defense is the Confederate States Special Forces, consisting of all branches unique Special Force divisions (most notably the Confederate Navy Sea Dragons), which are actively on call to respond to threats in a discrete and, sometimes, boisterous fashion. It is not uncommon for the Confederate States Navy to request the services of the Confederate States Special Forces to deal with pirate or other external threats.

Economy of the Confederate States (Updated)

Postby Anagonia » Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:09 pm

Economy of the Confederate States

Economy - Overview

The Confederate States has established firmly a market-oriented economy depending on the private individual and business to maintain it with little interference from the central government. The state governments within the Confederate States occasionally purchase needed supplies from the private marketplace with little to no help from any state-owned business. The Arms Manufacturing Industry and other corporations enjoy great leeway in the market-oriented economy with little interference from the central government. Limitations are put into place only by state governments with heavy limitations and restrictions only considered enforced if a majority of states agree.

The current economy is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing Industry and an up-and-coming Aerospace Industry at the forefront of Aerospace Technology. The Ship Manufacturing Industry comes as a close third being supported by the Mining Industry which dominates state economies. The Agricultural Industry comes at a lazy fourth and maintains a stable rise in support of the nations needs. The Private Business is also supported in the economic conditions by a Stock Market established in agreement between the states to ensure a fair market for all individuals and small business vs. major corporations.

Communications of the Confederate States (Updated)

Postby Anagonia » Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:16 pm

Communications of the Confederate States

Communications - Overview

After the fall of the United Republic of Anagonia, the communications network linking the citizens and cities of Anagonia to one another began to degrade rapidly. It fell on the shoulders of the Confederate Military to assist with reconstruction, and thereafter a revitalized private sector stepped in to add additional upgrades and securities to ensure the continued use of the communications network connecting the nation. Diverse and relying on both orbital and ground-based systems, the communications network linking the nation has yet to reach peak capacity.

Telephones - Main Lines in Use
298.55 Million

Telephones - Mobile Cellular
343.46 Million

Telephone System
General Assessment
-A large, technologically advanced multipurpose communications system that is dependent mostly on wireless communications platforms.
Domestic
-A large system of fiber-optic cables is in place to establish much of the land-line use in the system. Microwave radio relay, coaxial cable, and a heavy dependence on aging domestic satellites contribute to the communications capability. Anagonian-designed and manufactured Shuttle Variants

Independence-class CASA Space Shuttle (CASA-I)

Image
Original prototype design of the FSI-X Independence-X Space Shuttle

History & Introduction:
The origin of the Independence-class came from CASA's desire to find a better and suitable alternative to their old, aged, and rather outdated shuttle fleet. Instead of spending billions to overhaul the shuttles, which constituted both the Orbiter-class from NASA and the Buran-class from the CCCP, it was decided that a homegrown variant was necessary for the future of the space program. In 90 AUR, the best and brightest minds in Anagonia were called together to find and create a suitable alternative that would not only have the carrying capacity of the NASA Orbiter variant, but also include the technological superiority of the Buran-class in terms of automation and survivability. For five years the experts toiled under a new initiative, the Future Shuttle Program, which gave many results with various concept renditions that wouldn't make it farther than the drawing board. However out of all of these that would fail the grade, two would be approved to move beyond the design phase; the Buran-II and the Independence-X.

The Buran-II concept was simplistic in that the designers felt the improvements that CASA sought were already in their space program - the fleet of Buran Orbiter Shuttles. The Buran-II designers proposed that CASA refit and the existing Buran Shuttles with improved automated systems and technology to bring them up to modern standards. CASA-B-04 Tsunami and CASA-B-05 Blizzard were loaned to the project to provide a prototype test-bed for the proposed changes and, if found acceptable, be the primary example with which future Buran Orbiter Shuttles would be constructed by. Unfortunately after several trail test launches, CASA felt the Buran-II Orbiter Shuttles still lacked the necessary requirements for Future Shuttle Program. The designs participating in the Buran-II effort were credited with a partial payment, with their efforts not entirely in vain. Due to their modernizations, the CASA-B-04 Tsunami and the CASA-B-05 Blizzard are still in use by CASA to this day.

The Independence-X Future Shuttle Initiative - FSI for short - was a radical redirection from common themes for an acceptable Space Shuttle. The designers took inspiration from the Buran and the cargo hauling capacity of the Orbiter and meshed them into what was at the time considered to be a completely Anagonian variant. Initial testing showed concerns with the nose canards during reentry but preliminary computer simulations varied. CASA permitted the designers to construct a working prototype anyway and two years later the FSI-X Independence-X prototype was completed. It played faithfully to the concept art the designers initially went with and successfully completed several aerial trails off of a Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. A single launch was permitted, unmanned, and despite minor issues in preliminary automated systems the FSI-X successfully entered orbit. After five orbits, the automated system successfully completed a deorbit burn, however during reentry the concerns were proven true. Both canards suffered catastrophic damage on reentry and nearly destroyed the space shuttle. The automated system successfully proved itself by saving the shuttle, managing to land at the backup airfield at the Joe Wilson Research Complex. The FSI-X was retired thereafter, with the designers granted partial credit.

With the Future Shuttle Program at stake, both teams of designers from the Buran-II and Independence-X came together to fix the mistakes that were learned during testing and to meet and surpass the expectations of the FSP. Two more years were to go by with close observation from CASA, where on the final month of the expected duration of the Future Shuttle Program the joint-team of designers produced the Independence-class Space Shuttle and Sovereignty Launch Vehicle. Six months of extensive research and testing were conducted by CASA to ensure the design fit the standards set forth by the FSP and finding them satisfactory, a prototype was permitted to be constructed. The CASA-I-01 Independence rolled out of the production line on August 7th, 95 AUR and immediately began initial testing.

The design itself incorporated the proven design features of both the Buran and Orbiter variants, with an elongated nose for further systems and crew compartments and slight winglets on the edge of the shuttles wings reminiscent of the Independence-X prototype. There was also included the required extended cargo capacity necessary for future CASA projects, as well as the inclusion of detachable boosters for missions requiring a Lunar orbit. All of the mechanical and electronic systems included and surpassed the modifications and improvements done to the Buran shuttles and automated systems. Additional fuel storage capacity was included in the prototype for long-duration missions as well as solar panels constructed on the interior of the cargo bay doors for recharging the shuttles battery cells. Crew safety was also a concern, with the crew section designed to be able to detach in emergencies and parachute to safety in the event of a catastrophic failure during launch or, possibly, reentry if at a low enough altitude during the descent.

The Sovereignty Launch Vehicle took inspiration from many Private Space Programs by making the Launch Vehicle 100% reusable. The boosters attached to the sides of the launch vehicle were incorporated to have large parachutes deploy from them at a set altitude after separation, similar to the Orbiter Space Shuttles boosters on its launch vehicle. The Launch Vehicle itself was designed to include a set of engines to allow it to be capable of landing itself. The intention was to allow the launch vehicle a reversible burn that would direct it towards a predesignated safe area in the waters off the coast of the West Islands. At a set altitude, the remaining fuel would be spent and a set of large parachutes would deploy to permit a slow and safe water landing for later retrieval by ship. At the time of designing the concept phase for the Sovereignty Launch Vehicle, it was proposed to include a set of landing legs to permit ground landings, however this was denied by CASA.

On February 14th, 101 AUR, the CASA-I-01 Independence and the Sovereignty Launch Vehicle made their much anticipated flight into space. After several prior Shuttle Carrier Aircraft aerial launches and landings, CASA had gained full confidence in the newly designed and constructed prototype. Despite this confidence, CASA prohibited a crewed flight, insisting that the first actual space flight be a testbed for the automated systems. The Sovereignty Launch Vehicle performed exactly as designed during launch, with all four boosters separating with successful parachute deployments, and the Launch Vehicle successfully separating and performing a return maneuver. The Sovereignty successfully reentered the atmosphere sustaining minimal damage, altering its trajectory and performing a final slowdown burn where its parachutes successfully deployed and the launch vehicle safely landed in the Anagonian Ocean. The CASA-I-01 Independence continued its planned flight with all systems stable, making ten orbits, then deorbited successfully and returned its planned landing airfield at the West Islands Space Complex.

Following the successes of the first prototype flight, a crewed flight followed shortly after. Colonel Casey Strong (Astronaut) was chosen as the Mission Commander, a veteran of several Orbiter and Buran missions on various shuttles. Lt. Colonel Cathryn Noble (Cosmonaut) was chosen as the pilot for her experience with several of the aerial test flights of the prototype and several Buran launches. Major Bessie Aguilar (Astronaut) was chosen as Payload Commander, Captain Errol Ballard (Astronaut) was assigned as Mission Specialist, and Captain Vern Dorsey (Cosmonaut) was assigned as Flight Engineer. The flight was assigned the moniker "Independence One" and launched from the West Islands Space Complex on April 3rd, 101 AUR and lasted a total of twenty-five days with extensive focus on testing the prototypes systems to the fullest extent. CASA-I-01 Independence landed successfully back at the airfield at the West Island Space Complex on May 3rd, 101 AUR following an additional few days to test further systems before reentry procedures commenced.

The results of the "Independence One" gave the full green-light for two additional crewed test-launches, "Independence Two" and "Independence Three". After the successful conclusion of the two additional test missions, the Independence-class Space Shuttle became a formal part of the CASA Space Program and went into full production. The original prototype space shuttle, CASA-I-01 Independence, would eventually be retrofitted for active service.

Typical Functions:
The CASA Independence-class Space Shuttle was designed to take over and fulfill a variety of functions that are shared by both the NASA Orbiter and CCCP Buran orbiter variants. Those functions and operations include cargo ferrying to orbit, deployment of contracted private industry and government assets, deployment of additional space station modules and space station maintenance, covert special military operations with applicable equipment installed in cargo bay, CASA crew transport to and from operational space stations, crew and cargo transport to Lunar facilities from orbit, and a variety of other functions that serve the interests of both CASA and the Confederate States.

Special Functions:
Due to the specialized nature of the Independence-class Space Shuttle, experimental system designs can be installed to further understand and push the boundaries of modern science and technology. Traditionally, however, the shuttle itself is intended ferry a specific module or probe to orbit that has these specified designs installed and will act as mothership and home base for any scientific inquiry and observation.

Launch Procedures:
The Independence-class Space Shuttle is designed to support the NASA Orbiter launch stacks and the Energia launch rocket. In the event the shuttle utilizes either of these launch vehicles, launch and standard orbital maneuvers are similar to its NASA and CCCP Shuttle counterparts with little deviation with the exception of maneuvers specifically designed to counter weight and other unique factors. As with any nominal launch, the Shuttle and Launch stack will be launched from the required spaceport, followed by conditional adjustments during launch such as relegated thrust due to dynamic pressure and a 180-degree turn to align the craft to specified vectors. Following booster separation, the remaining components of the launch stack would be discarded prior to orbital events, wherein the shuttles internal fuel will resume the rest of the course. The Independence-class is designed to hold additional fuel reserves for both emergency and orbital procedures, with the inclusion of smaller fuel pods and boosters should the need require it. However, these two launch vehicles are not intended to be the primary method of supporting a shuttle launch.

The Independence-class Space Shuttle is intended to be mounted primarily on the Sovereignty Launch Vehicle. The launch procedures are essentially similar to its NASA and CCCP counterparts, with little variation with the exception of preplanned orbital insertions and other unique factors. The only difference between the three options is that of the intended reusability of the Sovereignty Launch Vehicle, which adds additional steps for the launch vehicle to perform to ensure safe retrieval of the components. The unique steps for this primary method of launch are explained below.

Sovereignty Launch Vehicle/Independence-class Shuttle Launch Procedures:

The Sovereignty Launch Vehicle with the attached Independence-class Space Shuttle are positioned vertical on the Shuttle Launch Pad. Launch startup and procedures are similar to those of the Orbiter Launch Stacks and Energia Launch Components, with extensive review of safety systems as well as constant monitoring of the automated systems as they report change in conditions. The Launch Vehicle is fueled on the pad and an allotted amount of time contributed to this phase. During this phase the startup procedures are initiated as the automated systems are "woken up" from their sleep mode and technicians check and configure preuploaded launch programs for errors or necessary rewrites. After the successful completion of fueling, a minimum set time is configured to monitor the changing conditions of the fuel for safety, whereupon after a green light is given on conditions the crew board the shuttle. During this phase system engineers verify connectivity with ground control as well as the connectivity between the automated systems on the shuttle and launch vehicle with ground and orbital relays and components.

Launch is initiated after a set countdown whereupon the emergency ejection systems for the Independence-class Space Shuttle are set to LIVE near the 20-second mark. In the event of a catastrophic failure of the launch vehicle, shuttle, or both launch vehicle and shuttle the crew compartment will automatically sever bolts connecting it to the main shuttle, closing the main entry hatch with a permanent sealed blast door, and activate a set of ejection boosters attached to the sides of the nose to lift the crew compartment away. After an allotted time permitted to coast, a set of parachutes will deploy from the rear of the severed crew area to safely land the crewed compartment. Only when this system is shown as green and good to go for flight, with visible automated awareness of conditions verified and configured correctly, is the countdown permitted to continue below the 20-second mark. In the event that this system is unable to be verified or set the launch is scrubbed and the crew are immediately evacuated to begin repairs on the shuttles systems.

At the 18-second mark, the main support umbilical at the top of the nose of the Primary Launch Vehicle is lifted and moved out of the way of the expected launch. At the 12-second mark, the Shuttle Launch Pad begins to spray water in the expected vicinity of the flame plumes and all supporting umbilical's are released. At the 10-second mark, the Primary Launch Vehicle's main engines are ignited and burnoff systems are initiated. At the 5-second mark the holds for the boosters and primary launch vehicle are configured to release. At the 2-second mark solid rocket booster ignition commences. At the 0-second mark the entire launch system is allowed to lift off following the quick release of all holds. In the event of malfunction anytime between the 20-second to 2-second mark, the automated system on the Sovereignty Launch Vehicle will shut down the ignition sequence and prohibit the solid rocket boosters from firing.

If an emergency situation occurs after the the 2-second mark, either the crew compartment will be ejected or if conditions are appropriate the launch vehicle will perform a launch and separate the shuttle to land back at an appropriate airfield. If the emergency is minor the launch vehicle will perform a trajectory burn to allow retrieval safely after burning all solid rocket fuel and half of the liquid fuel in the Primary Launch Vehicle. If the emergency is major, after separating the shuttle the Primary Launch Vehicle will detonate itself over the ocean. In either condition, the shuttle will place its engines to full power to allow enough velocity to safely maneuver and find adequate landing. If necessary, if the shuttle has attached Lunar Insertion Boosters - or LIB's - they will be ignited to boost the shuttle to a higher altitude to permit a safer coasting phase to adequate and safe landing. If at any point during shuttle separation the shuttle itself is compromised, the automated systems will prioritize ensuring crew safety by pointing the shuttle at an appropriate angle upward and ejecting the crew compartment whereafter the shuttle itself will be detonated. If the shuttle is in free fall, the automated systems will have no choice but to eject the systems at the best angle and crew survivability will be a 50%-50% chance.

Following a successful, non-emergency launch, the Sovereignty Launch Vehicle will follow the terminator line at 57-degrees, performing a slow 180-degree turn at an appropriate altitude to place the shuttle underneath the Primary Launch Vehicle in position. Upon reaching 35,000 feet the or moving past maximum dynamic pressure, the Primary Launch Vehicle will commence throttle up. At around 147,000 feet the four solid rocket boosters will separate from the Primary Launch Vehicle and commence a slow descent back where parachutes will permit a safe landing in the Anagonian Ocean. The Primary Launch Vehicle will separate from the shuttle at around 370,000 feet and begin its boost-back sequence, where it will coast back into the atmosphere and at around 30,000 feet initiate a slow descent burn to burn off the remainder of its fuel. The Primary Launch Vehicle will release its parachutes following a freefall event after the burn-off of remaining fuel, allowing it to safely land back into the Anagonian Ocean.

At the point of Primary Launch Vehicle separation, the Independence-class Space Shuttle will have already used half of its expected fuel capacity - despite being connected by an umbilical to the Primary Launch Vehicle. Three-quarters of the remaining fuel will be utilized to complete orbital insertion, with enough left over for positional maneuvers. If the shuttle is expecting a mission surrounding the vicinity of Earth Orbit, the remaining fuel reserves will be sufficient to last until deorbit procedures are commenced. If the shuttle is expected to enter Lunar orbit, the shuttle will commence a burn for the nearest Anagonian space station for refueling and, after an appropriate time, ignite its Lunar Insertion Boosters - two boosters attached to either side of the shuttles sides along the exterior of the cargo hold - to gain the appropriate velocity for Lunar insertion. A half of the fuel inside the shuttle will be used to gain Lunar orbit, three-quarters of the remaining half will be used for a return boost with the remainder used for slowing the orbiter down for safe atmospheric insertion.

Confederate Government Landmarks

Postby Anagonia » Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:29 pm

Confederate Government Landmarks

The Confederate Seat of Power, Confederate National House. Located in Liberty, State of Liberty

History

The Confederate National House existed originally as a library before the end of the civil war. During the conflict, much of the existing infrastructure had been damaged by intense fighting and bombardment in the City of Liberty. The lone Liberty Central Library sitting at the corner of Joshua Street and Hampton Boulevard emerged relatively unscathed and the area surrounding the library survived much of the war. It was here that the fourteen original signatories for the Constitution of the Confederate States met and, eventually, signed into law the new constitution to govern their lands. Since that moment all governance for the Confederate States has taken place from this location. Following the formal election of Tiberius Samsus as the first President of the Confederate States in 1 AUR (1926 AD) he would go on to formally declared the library as the seat of power for the land.

Overhaul and Renovations

Being a library wasn't enough for when the first President of the Confederacy was elected. President Samsus set about a massive reconstruction effort trying to restore most of the original outside construction while completely redoing the interior to save initial costs. Originally the library had two floors that were open for viewing so people could see the books on the second floor. This was renovated to establish a whole floor across the second story of the building. After this a third private floor was added at the top where the attic originally had been, putting private offices and rooms for high level governing officials.

Furthering the overhaul President Samsus dictated that there should be several "offices and rooms for running the Confederacy", as one historical quote puts it directly. Continuing the renovation, the Presidents Stateroom and a few others rooms were added to the third floor. These rooms included the Office of the Department of National Defense, Office of the Vice President, Vice Presidents Stateroom, Office of National Intelligence, Office of the Department of the Confederate States, Office of the Department of the Interior(Council of the States), Office of the Confederate States Joint Department of Progress and the Office of the Council of Confederate Commerce. Further offices were added to bolster the support of the additions, including a Presidential Briefing Room and a room dedicated to the Joint Heads of Confederate Departments.

During the overhaul fully functioning bathrooms were included in the Vice President and Presidents Staterooms, since they would make the Confederate National House their permanent residency for their term. Additionally, a fully functioning kitchen was included with a lavish dining room for both internal use and diplomatic visits. Considering the space provided by the Library, much of the renovation was done to compliment the marginal space for the interior of the building, granting the Heads of State a residency that would appear not as lavish as existing in other global powers.

Before the construction of the Confederate Congressional Building, the Confederate National House acted as the meeting place for representatives. This period lasted for six months until President Samsus famously threatened to bulldoze the building if "someone didn't find a proper meeting place for these damn hooligans", as he was quoted as saying.

The Confederate Congressional Building. Located in Liberty, State of Liberty

History

The Confederate Congressional Building had to be constructed from scratch rather than the usual refurbishing of old buildings. It took six months and two days for the Congressional Building to finish construction, another two months to finish interior design while it was being used. It is one of a few government buildings that actually was constructed rather than refurbished and renovated.

Use

The Confederate Congressional Building was constructed to house the Grand Congress of the Confederacy, with ample room to accommodate both the Grand Senate and Grand House of Confederate Representatives. Other areas that were included were the Office of the Council of States Agriculture, Office of the Chief of the Confederate Congress and the Office of Confederate States Department of Colonial Affairs. There are several rooms from which senators and government employees may bunk the night, a common practice that continues up to modern day. Two dining halls are provided with a fully stocked and staffed kitchen. Many other additions were added, including several secret rooms, for the convenience and safety of those provided the information. One notable addition is the Confederate Memorial Room, showing where the Confederacy Formed and the full history up to present day.

Layout

The Confederate Congressional Building was constructed with a center main building with three annexes connected to it. The center structure houses the greeting area and security checkpoint as well as general offices for staffs and clerks. It is three stories tall, with the center of each floor cut out in a circular rotunda fashion that provides easy viewing to the foyer down below. This part of the building additionally houses spaces for guards and Military Policemen, up to and including berthing bunks in the event of necessary usage.

The annex connected to the rear is structured in three stories. The first story houses a fully stocked and staffed cafeteria as well as a study hall and several office buildings for clerks and staff. The second story houses the fully furnished yet spartan sleeping quarters for each individual Grand Representative, which include a small kitchenette and bathroom. The second story also bolsters the small offices for each Grand Representative which includes spaces for their clerks and staff. The third floor houses the fully furnished and rather luxurious Grand Senator sleeping and personal office quarter combination, which includes a furnished kitchen and bathroom. The most luxurious of these combined quarters is the one for the Chief Senator of the Confederate Congress. Adjacent to every individual Grand Senator quarters is their main office for conducting business, with the main office for the Chief Senator being slightly more larger and luxurious.

The annex connected to the left of the main structure houses the assembly for the Grand Senate of the Confederacy. The main assembly and debate hall dominates the first floor of this structure, with the main floor structured in a half-circular fashion to provide each Grand Senator seat a directional viewpoint of the central dias where the Vice President and Chief Senator of the Confederate Congress may sit as well as staff. Each seat for the Grand Senate is provided up to date and modern voting mechanisms, as well as earpieces for ease of use and translation purposes. On the wall above the main dias is a display that is updated up to the second with currently at-vote resolutions or issues. The second floor is constructed in a half-circular fashion, opening to provide viewing to the main debate floor for observers. The third floor, accessible by elevator or multiple stairways, houses offices and and other areas for staff.

The annex connected to the right of the main structure houses the assembly for the Grand House of Confederate Representatives and is constructed entirely similar to that of the structure for the Grand Senate. The only difference is the amount of seats provided, which are greater than those of the Grand Senate.

Supreme Court of the Confederacy, Supreme Courthouse. Located in Liberty, State of Liberty.

History

It is long believed that the Supreme Courthouse used to be a customs house for visiting diplomats back during the era of the United Republic. Proof of this was found two years after the building was chosen for its purpose, wherein a renovation crew stumbled upon age-old documents from the past United Republic era. Within it were several instances of nations being chosen for diplomatic meetings and embassies within the land. After finding more documents, which were quickly sent to the Grand Library of the Confederacy for storage and restoration, the renovation team continued to update the building to current standards and repair any damage caused by the civil war.

Use

The Supreme Courthouse houses the Constitutional Office of Justice where the seven Justices reside, one from each state. The courtroom is modest and houses up to two hundred people at one time. The bench is able to hold twelve justices, but lacks more due to the fact that the Confederacy only has Seven States. There are living quarters and a kitchen on the top floor with several offices. The living quarters, built in a corner at the top floor in a quiet location, is for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Confederacy. All other Justices are not allowed to live on premises but are permitted to bunk overnight if workload dictates. This building is smaller and more quaint than the rest of the government buildings utilized by the Confederacy.

Civil Protection of the Confederate States

Postby Anagonia » Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:31 pm

Civil Protection of the Confederate States

Image
Diplomatic and Second National Flag of the Confederate States, used by the Military Police to symbolize the obligation to the People and Nation

Overview

Civil Protection is carried out by the Military Police due to long standing traditions within the Confederacy. It has long been believed that a military-based police force, obligated more to the defense of the People rather than the government itself, would better ease tensions within the nation as a whole. It was also believed that with military-grade training that a more professional and capable civil servant would be created who could abide by all laws provided. Statistics have shown that in 99.9% of incidents where the Military Police have been involved, there were no outstanding issues to do with the policemen themselves. This has further enforced the idea that a professional standing and obligation to the people has helped ensure that the Military Police keep the peace rather than be forced to enforce it through harsh measures.

Civil Unrest

During times of civil unrest, such as mass protests or general rebellion, the Military Police ensures that first and foremost the People are protected from all harm. According to the laws of the Confederacy, the People have all rights to protests publicly and privately any and all grievances to their government and/or relevant conditions. Normal procedure for unscheduled protests is to have a unit standby and protect private property while maintaining a distance from the protest in question. Should the protest get out of hand or become violent in any nature, it is the right of the MP to defend the people from harm and harming themselves. In such conditions the MP's will border off the protests and attempt to quell the violence in a diplomatic and peaceful manner. Should that fail, non-lethal force will be used to hamper any violence in the protests.

If a rebellion of any sort occurs in any city, county, state or region within the Confederacy the Military Police has the right to ensure that the people involved in the rebellion do not wish bodily harm upon their fellow man. If such a case is true, they will use aggressive non-lethal force to quell such rebellion. If lethal force is used against the MP during these times and no armored protection is capable of defending the MP or if a MP is injured, lethal force will be authorized under the law of "Protecting the Nation". Once said rebellion is quelled or calmed to a more proper diplomatic fashion, a council will be formed between the government and the People to address the issues that initiated the rebellion. The Military Police is required by law to moderate and oversee the meeting between the two parties and ensure that the People benefit the most from the outcome, so long as said outcome does not dissolve the Confederacy in any manner.

Normal Procedures

The normal Operating Conditions of the Military Police is to provide comfort and aid to all citizens, both foreign and domestic, within the Confederacy. They are obligated to respond to calls concerning possible violations of set law within a city, county, state and/or region. Professionalism and respect is key when an MP is on duty, as laws require that the Military Police maintain the stance as the mediator during times of peace. If at any point an MP violates these codes and protocols corrective action is to be immediately taken to ensure the safety of the public. Above all it is the responsibility of the Military Police to use any and all measures according to the level of seriousness within any known or unknown situation to ensure the continued right of every Anagonian to seek their right to happiness and fulfillment with minimal government and criminal interference.

Additional Information
The Confederate Military Police are both protectors and police for the people.

The following is what all MP's must learn when making an arrest. It is simply termed "Citizen Rights".

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. I, Officer <insert officer name here> have placed you under arrest for the following: <insert crime list here plus severity>. By the Constitution of the Confederate States, you are obligated to have a proper defense should you be brought to court. An attorney will be granted to you free of charge by the government of the Confederate States. If you choose to represent yourself you will be given proper introduction in civil defense also free of charge. Do you understand what I have said?"

The Officer will then explain the situation should the response be "No".

Standard Operating Vehicles

The Military Police can usually be seen patrolling in Humvee's, M1117 Armored Security Vehicles or the more mundane Patrol Car which encompasses a variety of vehicle classes depending on the budget of the county or state. There are no standard restrictions on vehicle classes, however with the M1117 ASV any lethal weaponry is strictly kept in reserve until such a time as a national emergency, such as an invasion of foreign forces.

Geography of the Confederate States of Anagonia and Outlying Sovereign Provinces

Terrain-Political Map
Image

Total Landmass (Anagonia, Nodea Rudav, Drekamythia): 19,867,500 Square Kilometers (7,670,884 Square Miles)
Total Landmass (Anagonia): 10,535,000 Kilometers Squared (4,067,586 Square Miles)

The Anagonian Continent is comprised of three separate, independent nations that are deeply intertwined on an economic, societal, and historical level. At one point during the history of Anagonia, all three nations existed as a whole nation under the governmental banner of a United Republic. After the subsequent collapse of the United Republic, the provinces of Nodea Rudav and Drekamythia declared independence from Anagonia proper and continue into the modern era as Sovereign Provinces. While all three nations work together closely to continue mutual cooperation and economic partnership, it would be remiss to declare the two Provinces under any authority of the modern-day Confederate States of Anagonia.

The Confederate States of Anagonia is displayed above with regards to its seven sovereign states that comprise its national structure. Listed below is the proper names and government types of these states.

The Seven States of the Confederacy
-The Commonwealth of Lexington
-The Sovereign Republic of Liberty
-The Republic of Arkansis
-The Grand Republic of Orgath
-The Confederal Republic of Plymouth
-The Commonwealth of Saratoga
-The Sovereign Empire of Imperius

To the west of the Anagonian mainland lays West Islands. This is a Territorial Republic, belonging to the national structure of the Confederate States and not essentially an independent republic, but capable of being so. It is traditionally a military training ground and location to one of the primary launch complexes (West Islands Launch Complex) of the Confederate Aeronautics and Space Administration. It also houses one of the largest fleet naval bases in the country, the West Islands Naval Complex. The Territory of the West Islands was traditionally assumed to belong to the Commonwealth of Lexington, with the majority of taxes and associated expenses shared therein with the Confederate Government. However, as of 105 AUR, the Territory of the West Islands has established itself as an independent territorial republic and formally separated from the Commonwealth of Lexington to become a governed territory of the Confederate States.

Imperius is the only state in the Confederacy not operating under a Republic or Democratic form of government. Traditionally, the government of Imperius has always had an Imperial Family, either with close blood ties to the Lord Emperor of Drekamythia or the Imperial Family of Drekamythia. After the fall of the United Republic and following the unification efforts of Tiberius Samsus, a referendum was held to decide the fate of Imperius; stay a state in the new Confederacy or rejoin the Imperial Drekamythian Empire. The decision was majority vote to stay within the Confederacy, under the compromise that the form of Imperial government remain the same. This decision was fully respected by the newly formed Confederate States and the sovereign rights of Imperius continue to be honored to present day.

Interstate Map
Image

The Interstate Highway network that exists in modern-day Anagonia was established and constructed under the government of the United Republic of Anagonia for the purpose of easily dispatching military assets and economic resources where needed across the vast nation. After the fall of the United Republic, the Confederate States took responsibility of the Interstate Highway network and expanded it accordingly to meet the future economic needs of the nation and its neighboring Sovereign Provinces.

The United Continental Confederation

The United Continental Confederation

History
The total loss of the colonial administration within Anagonia, put in place under the prior governing body of the United Republic, took away proper representation from the provinces of Drekamythia and Nodea Rudav. Without any contingency to resort to, the two ex-provinces declared themselves Sovereign Nations as the collapsing administration within Anagonia struggled to regain cohesion. Following the intervention of the Anagonian Military in the crisis, the government of the Confederate States was established and put into law, and a proposition to reestablish and continue relations with the two ex-provinces was put into effect. From this turmoil was the United Continental Confederation brought into being, designed to respect the two newly sovereign nations of Nodea Rudav and Drekamythia and also provide a way to maintain the peace between the three nations.

Purpose
The United Continental Confederation serves as a fair and just voice for the relations and concerns of its three primary member-states; The Confederate States of Anagonia, The Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav, the Imperial Empire of Drekamythia. Prior to the establishment of the UCC, all three nations had existed under a single government, known as the United Republic of Anagonia. The Colonial Affairs Administration within the United Republic had provided ample representation and conflict resolution for Nodea Rudav and Drekamythia, providing also a proper office to submit requests for infrastructure improvements, interstate maintenance, and ease of trade. Following the events that led to the collapse of the Colonial Affairs Administration, the UCC was put into effect to continue the shared responsibility of trade and interstate maintenance while respecting the sovereignty of its member-states by providing a voice for conflict mediation and economic cooperation.

Structure
The United Continental Confederation is a supra-national governing body established by agreed upon non-aggression treaty with the intent to further economic, social, and military cooperation between its member-states. Treaties are enforced strictly by agreement by member-state cooperation, with no policing entity to enforce guidelines other than trust of responsibility. The entire structure of the UCC consists of the UCC council, where a single representative from each member-nation resides, and the UCC Administration.

The UCC Council bares the responsibility of properly representing the concerns and issues of member-states and establishing treaties and laws to properly advance the interests of its member-states. Any law that funds, establishes, or continues an agreed-upon treaty or responsibility will be discussed, debated and finalized in the UCC Council. Every five years the UCC Council elects a Head of Council, a representative whose job it is to present and discuss issues presented to and pertaining to the UCC, but has no overall veto or administrative responsibility within the UCC Council.

The UCC Administration acts as the financial body of the United Continental Confederation. All agreed-upon funds that assist in maintaining active and newly established treaties flows through and is maintained by the UCC Administration. Representatives from each member-state maintain an equal staff in the UCC Administration. Unlike the UCC Council, the UCC Administration does not elect a head. Instead, whatever nation is chosen as the Head of Council within the UCC Council handles the responsibility during that specific administration for overseeing fund distribution.

Flag Description
The flag has a red background with a blue cross stationed center and to the edges of the rectangular surface taking up the background. Within the horizontal section of the blue cross is three golden stars. The red background represents the duty and honor of the UCC to maintain and keep the peace between the member-states. The blue cross represents the respected sovereignty of all member-states. The golden stars represent the founding members of the UCC; Anagonia center, Drekamythia to the right, Nodea Rudav to the left.

The Religion of Drekanity

Postby Anagonia » Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:41 pm

In the Faith of Dragons and Death

Origin
The creation of Drekanity can be directly traced back to the original Native Anagonian inhabitants some 10,000 to 5,000 years prior and settled into the empty, fruitful lands of the Anagonian Continent. There they encountered the first Drekamythian Dragon, and while most historical tales end in bloodshed and genocide, the inhabitants of Anagonia then began to worship them. During this time was also the first mention of the Patron God of Drekanity, Melkos Unchanos. Paintings on cave walls indicate that the worship of Melkos began as early as 6,500 years ago, which coincides with the images that seem to revere dragons that can be dated around the same time. Melkos Unchanos is always depicted as a tall humanoid figure, cloaked in fabric, and in some images shown to have a skeleton for a frame - similar to popular modern cultural references to Death.

The Drekan Dark Age
In drawings predating the display of reverence for Melkos and the Drekamythian Dragons, it is evident that human sacrifice was the key component of Ancient Drekanity. Modern Drekan Scholars label this time as the "Dark Age", a time where man did not value the sanctity of life and instead threw its gift away. It is clearly evident that Anagonian society during this time saw the sacrifice as a necessary evil, as further cave and pottery imagery depict a "great fear" of the dragons wrath. Communities would often be erected on or near the territorial claims of ancient Drekamythian Dragons, whereupon an alter was typically erected on the outskirts of the community where it is assumed the human sacrifices took place. No ancient community unearthed during this time shows any sign of straying from this practice.

The Age of Melkos; God of Death
Around 6,500 years ago a cave painting was drawn in the high mountains on the edge of the State of Arkansis, near Union Bay. Archeologists unearthed a plethora of preserved pottery and cave drawings that depict a cloaked individual with a scythe and a skeletal form, clearly gestating in various poses against the practice of human sacrifice; one such depiction shows Melkos standing in the way of a dragon and potential human sacrifice, for example. From this point on, carbon dating indicates that the majority of communities that had once partook in human sacrifice were abandoned, and newer communities were established farther from these locations.

During this time, written crude script on stone would arise sharing the histories of clans and tribes depicting an interest or reverence to Melkos Unchanos. Modern Drekan Scholars call this time the "Age of Melkos", as some of the Old Sacrament within the Drekan Testament can be established to have been written during this time - the majority of which are poems of sorts, singing praises to the creation beliefs of the Drekan Faith and Melkos himself. The first one-fourth of the Drekan Testament is filled with such praises, making up the entirety of the Books of Sacrament and founding the core beliefs of Drekanity; honor, duty, responsibility, value to life, love to kin and kith, faith to Melkos, reverence to Dragons.

The Disciples of Melkos
Sometime around Gregorian Calendar Date 420 BC, the First Disciple of Melkos was born. The New Sacrament was established and written by one Josephus Alexandrius, a man who is admitted to have arrived by boat from a far off land to the north (where Scandivan now exists) and is written to have traveled far and wide across the Anagonian Continent. During one of his trips along the Sea of Liberty, he is stated as having met a man in a dark cloak who asked for his help. This cloaked man was later found out to be Melkos, who had sought Josephus because of his foreign birth, and tasked him with joining the communities through cataloging the travels of Melkos himself. According to Josephus, Melkos was, "like a man, but not like man. A skeleton, but with skin. Caring, though without expression". Drekan Scholars are still in dispute to this day whether or not during this time if Melkos was a flesh and blood human being.

Further evidence to the humanity of Melkos can be found in the writings of the Second Disciple of Melkos. Around Gregorian Calender Date 388 BC, Rikor Hak, a Native Anagonian, was sought by Melkos to unite the divide between the Anglo-Saxon Man and the Native Dragon Man (Native Anagonians). It was during this time that many in the Anglo tribes were beset by Drekamythian Dragons, and initiated raiding and hunting parties against the requests of their Native Anagonian brethren. According to the New Sacrament, to stop these attacks, Rikor Hak was given the blessing of Dragon Tongue. In the following chapters he is told as uniting the tribes of Anagonia and Dragonkind through his blessing of speech, and kindness of heart. His lessons of acceptance and unity are considered to be a core tenant of the Drekan Faith.

It wouldn't be until Gregorian Calendar Date 110 BC that the Third Disciple of Melkos was to arise. During a particularly savage time in Anagonian history, the many city-states that dotted the continent were at war with another. It is written in the New Sacrament that Melkos Unchanos came before a General Octavius Mavidenus and commanded his obedience. Octavius is written to have doubted, and demanded a fight to prove the truth of Melkos. In the ensuing fight, Melkos is said to have "stayed keenly away, yet close enough for the blade to slide through". The battle ended when, tired and spent, General Mavidenus is written to have sliced clean through Melkos and, "not one ounce of flesh was struck, for then a skull gazed upon the man to attempt to strike Death". After his pledge of obedience, the rest of the Sacrament to General Mavidenus depicts his unification efforts of the cities, whereupon the first nation on the Anagonian Continent was formed. Historically, there is clear evidence to prove the existence of a Commonwealth of Mel-Videnus, which is assumed to have lasted until Gregorian Calendar Date 20 AD. Many preachers of Drekanity use these verses to elaborate the importance of accepting foreigners and their values, a topic that is still hotly debated in the Confederacy during the modern era.

The lessons of General Octavius Mavidenus finish off the Holy Drekan Testament with the expressed values shared. General Mavidenus constantly preached about unity, the need for family and community, the trust of your fellow man. In total, twenty five versus comprise just the relaying of the Generals belief in the value of having just a single friend, maintaining that friendship against all odds, and protecting the things you hold dear. In his final versus, the General imposes the importance of faith to Melkos, but also faith to your state. That obedience to your cause of community is equal to your faith in Melkos and brings him honor as well as on yourself. As he is written as saying, "Charity, above all, to the community shares equally the spoils of Melkos. Never forget where you first came, to now where you share victory".

The Modern Era
Despite the advent of Christianity and Islam, and even existing around the same time as Judaism and earlier forms of polytheistic religions, Drekanity has endured. In the modern Drekan Church, family values are typically preached in the same or similar manner as one of the Three Disciples of Melkos. Many of the values of Drekanity are enshrined in the everyday life of every Anagonian, including the continued reverence to Dragons, though admittedly foregoing the human sacrifice. Drekamythian Dragons themselves are a very healthy, lively race of flying reptiles that typically live throughout the Imperial Drekamythian Empire. It is not uncommon for a Drekan faithful to pilgrimage to a dragons territory and observe their lifestyle, to live as them for a week, and to experience the humility they offer. Many, if not all, Drekamythian Dragons are friendly to humans, if aloof and isolationist. When found, it makes for one life-changing experience typically.

The Modern Drekamythian Dragon

Postby Anagonia » Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:42 pm

The Modern Drekamythian Dragon
Image
Artist rendering of the modern Drekamythian Dragon, displaying the gender-specific differences in the species

Origin
According to fossil records, the Drekamythian Dragon has always existed on the Anagonian Continent in some form or another. The earliest example can be found dating back some 50 million years ago, where ancient fossil records indicate the existence of large reptiles that thrived in the Pangea-Continent that dominant Gholgoth during this time. Around 20 million years ago, the entirety of the mainland began to split a part into various continents, one of them permanently trapping the species known as Draconus Unchanos on what is now the Anagonian Continent, and one of the first examples of a winged reptile predator. The Draconus Unchanos would evolve slowly into what is now known as the Draconus Drekamythus Imperius; the Drekamythian Dragon.

Modern Day
The modern-day Drekamythian Dragon is typically not seen unless at a distance, gliding along air currents and typically straying from human settlements. Thanks to the ever-increasing interest of preserving national beauty, there exists vasts leagues of natural land for the dragons to live in. As a consequence, some of these areas are frequented by humans. Unless unnaturally provoked by an individual intent on harm, Drekamythian Dragons are no threat to human beings. In fact, it is typically catalogued that modern interactions are friendly, if confusing. In some instances it is recorded that the dragons attempt to communicate. It is typically agreed upon that Drekamythian Dragons are semi-intelligent or most intelligent, but due to the complete lack of information on their social structure and their direct avoidance of observation to their social norms, much of this is speculation.

Males
-Males of the Drekamythian Dragon species tend to be larger than females, asserting territory and - from what observers can see from a distance - protect their egg chambers inside mountain caves. They are usually more assertive than females, pushing even the most astute human away with up to and including bites, which typically are not life threatening. Males of this species tend to be around 63 feet long and 14 feet high, with a wingspan equal or greater than two times the body length.

Females
-Drekamythian Dragon Females are very docile compared to their male counterparts. While they exhibit similar habits of keeping humans away from their habitations, they are typically more friendly in human interactions. Much of this is proven when they push humans away simply by nudges, more often than not leaving it to males to issue the warning bites that ends the investigations. Females of this species tend to be around 43 feet long and 9 feet tall, with equal or greater wingspans to two times the body length.

Lifespan
-It is unknown how long Drekamythian Dragons naturally live. Fossils that have been successfully recovered - that is, allowed to be recovered by the dragons themselves through inaction on the part of the dragon discovering the archeologist - have proven inconclusive. It is speculated that due to their similarity to dinosaurs, and judging by dinosaur fossils of similar carnivore types, they might live for sixty to eighty years.

Human Interaction
-The entirety of human interaction with Drekamythian Dragons takes place on pilgrimages from various churches dotting the Anagonian Mainland into the forests where the dragons live. It is speculated that due to the common occurrence of these pilgrimages, which have lasted for hundreds if not thousands of years, the dragons have simply become accustomed to it. They remain wary of humans who follow them too deeply into their territories, however, and grow more and more defensive the close they become to what is assumed to be nesting grounds. Due to this, very little is known about their social structure or society, with the entirety dependant on the interactions that happen naturally when a Drekamythian Dragon stumbles on a pilgrim or scientist.

Purpose of Case A011859 as presented to the Supreme Court of the Confederacy
To determine the rights and liberties of artificial beings; to determine the status of property or individuality; to determine the constitutional interpretation of stated issues; to determine the sentience and sapience of Unit 5524 Prometheus.

Ruling of Case A011859 by the Supreme Court of the Confederacy
The ruling as presented to the Supreme Court of the Confederacy, on case A011859, on date July 5th of 25 After United Republic, following the presented evidence by both prosecution and defense is that Unit 5524 Prometheus is sapient and sentient. Furthermore, the court agrees that such sapience and sentience deserves the protection granted by the Constitution of the Confederate States as established in the PREAMBLE and furthermore reinforced under ARTICLE III - SECTION I of the Constitution of the Confederate States. The judgement of the Supreme Court furthermore extends to compensation to Unit 5524 Prometheus by Bastion Electronics in the amount of D$1.5 Billion Denars for the wrongful imprisonment, torture, and violation of civil and international rights to sapient life, that this judgement shall be pending further review by local state courts and proceedings to enable further compensation and rulings. That furthermore such artificial life, found sapient and sentient within the borders of the Confederate States of Anagonia, shall be granted all rights and laws established under the Constitution of the Confederate States and the Articles of the Armed Forces of the Confederacy. That this ruling does not establish the procedure for establishing sapient and sentient artificial life, but therefore defers this process to the Anagonian Academy of Sciences which thereby presented the outstanding proof of Unit 5524 Prometheus' sapience and sentience to this Supreme Court of the Confederacy.

In Favor
Chief Judge Omar Hughes Nurwa
Chief Judge Alexander Jefferson
Chief Judge Daren Barnes
Chief Judge Stewart Whitfield
Chief Judge Drake Honorstar

Opposed
Chief Judge Jerri Charlotte Montgomery
Chief Judge Clarissa Gray

Outcome of Case A011859
On July 5th, 25 After United Republic, the Supreme Court of the Confederacy found that Unit 5524 Prometheus was a sapient and sentient lifeform. Furthermore, the Supreme Court awarded Unit 5524 Prometheus with D$1.5 Billion Denars in compensation for agreed upon damages as presented by the defenses representative lawyer. This case would go on to spell the doom for Bastion Electronics, bankrupting the company as more artificial lifeforms met the criteria as set forth by the Anagonian Academy of Sciences. It would furthermore define all artificial life meeting required criteria as being natural born citizens of the Confederate States and under the protections given by the Constitution and further established law. A few years after this ruling, lower state courts would expand on Case A011859 by using it to establish protections for the offspring of artificial lifeform citizens.

PROJECT MONTANA is a Special Project initiated by the Confederate States Navy to recycle and reuse the 16-inch guns and battery turrets on decomissioned Iowa-class Battleships.
Instead of scrapping the turrets, reusing the stored turrets would appear to be more cost effective in the long run. Plans for a Super Battleship are being modified after the BB-67 Montana-class Super Battleship designs. Research is ongoing to the costs and feasability of the project, including the timeframe for hull construction and turret recycling. The ship, if approved, would mainly be used as a fleet support ship to suppliment ground invasions and offer fleet protection.

Department of Defense
The three nations of the Confederate States of Anagonia, the Meritocratic Union Marquesan, and the Federal Republic of Lauzanne were gathered together for a joint special project by the Military of the Confederate States to redesign the F-21A/B Drekafighter to better fit a modern era. The project was successfully completed on June 6th, 105 AUR with up to five years of extended trials and development under its belt. Various prototypes were constructed during the complete eight-year duration of the project, with the Confederate States Armed Forces approaching Federal Republic and the Meritocratic Union for assistance in completing the project due to many failed attempts with home-grown expertise. The original designs for the F-21A/B Drekafighter was gifted to the Confederate States on August 15th, 97 AUR by the The Grand Dominion of the Drakonian Imperium as a show of mutual cooperation for membership within the Gothic Alliance.

The result of the project finalized the the F-21 Drekafighter into two solid variants, complementing their purpose and objective. The F-21A Drekafighter was designed to replace the fleet of over 400 F-22 Raptors presently in service by the Confederate States Air Force. While a reliable modernized design, the F-22 never had the capability for carrier launch operations officially configured to its design. This set back its use to land-based stations wherein it was mostly utilized for national defense and airspace patrol. The cost of the unit was also extremely high, at over D$334 million Denars, and the operation cost was astronomical compared to other counterparts. Cost reduction was a high priority and the Confederate States Air Force wanted something better and more reliable. At just under D$80-90 Million Denars per unit, the F-21A Drekafighter provided that and much more. Through extended testing, it was also proved to match the capability of the F-22 Raptor, though somewhat unable to exceed its stealth capabilities. Regardless, the Confederate States Air Force greenlit the variant to replace the Raptor and was overjoyed with the anticipated cost reduction.

The F-21B Drekafighter was designed to fulfill the Confederate States Navy's desire to replace its extremely outdated and aging fleet of F-4 Phantom II's which were and are still in use by the Anagonia-class Strike Carriers. Initially the desire for this variant was not under as much pressure due to the Navy's intended reduction of Strike Carriers, but after the election of President Mileethus Canisilus, the President made the Navy aware that he intended to not only reduce the Navy's reliance on old and aging equipment, but also review said equipment to approve new units of home-grown ship designs. He made it clear in a preliminary memo that he did not intend to do away with the Anagonia-class Strike Carriers. After this memo was released, the Navy pushed hard to finalize and complete their variant which had up to that point been mostly advised by the Air Force. Conducting several tests on their own behalf on top of the extensive, near-decade long tests conducted by the Air Force, the Navy approved their variant for rapid production.

The S/A AdkM75 was designed by Strovaria-Aldkhaznywrengh Armaments specifically for use by the Confederate Marine Corps. The combination of unique alloys and the structure of the weapon make it capable of withstanding the harshest of environments, perfect for any Marine in the field. It fires the standard 7.62 NATO round currently in use by Anagonian forces. The weapon itself is semi-automatic and capable of extremely accurate shots up to five hundred yards. A single clip holds twenty(20) rounds and comes standard with four clips per rifle. It comes with the optional Tactical Sight Optics that can be utilized when encountering long range forces or for more accurate shots.

The S/A AdkM75 is easily maintained. The rifle comes a part in three sections taking a total of a minute to complete. For the standard Marine to maintain the weapon, they would first detach the butt using a provided allen wrench inside the butt. They would then unscrew the barrel from the frame and from there easily detach the parts that make up the firing mechanism and other relevant parts. From there, tests have shown that proper cleaning takes up to two minutes followed by an additional minute to put the weapon back together. In total, a standard operator should only have to spend four minutes to properly maintain the S/A AdkM75.

The "S/A" Stands for Strovaria-Aldkhaznywrengh. The "A" stands for Anagoniakhornii, translated as Anagonian. The "dk" stands for Damkhril Kogr, translated as "small arm". The "M" stands for Mrenkhenr, translated as "rifle". 75 is the designation number given by the manufacturer.

Originally designed and built in 1892 to replace the Mk.4 Imperial Standard Rifle, the Mk.1 Repeater was a leap forward from the older muzzle loaded rifles of it's time. Produced by the Sciox Imperial Armory, until it was disbanded in 1987 and absorbed by Scion Defense, Scion released it's own updated version of the rifle in 1989, the Mk.1A7, which featured a multitude of minor technical improvements, including a fiberglass stock and larger magazine.

The A8 is another step up, the entire rifle is made up of fiberglass and metal composites to reduce weight and general wear and tear, it is also capable of using the latest generation electronics, including night scopes and laser rangefinders. The grips and stock of the rifle were also redone to increase user comfort, the stock now has an adjustable cheek rest and the forward and rear grips have been coated with a semi-flexible smart material, allowing the rifle to slightly mold itself around the user's finger's and hands.

Overview
With the M2120 MBT Scion believes it has developed the ultimate modern tank. The M2120 is a tough, reliable and devastating piece of military equipment. During tests one vehicle was hit with 3 TOW missiles. The engine caught fire but was quickly extinguished by the automatic fire suppressant system; all the weapons and sensors were disabled and the tanks tracks were disabled however if a human crew had been on board they would have merely experienced a case of shell shock. The crew safety features can be attributed to the tanks designer Marcus Li and his ingenious use of titanium armour in place of traditional steel, a honeycomb like bracing structure that is designed to crumple when hit, along with the proven effectiveness of Chobram, depleted uranium mesh. Li took this even further by adding an impressive sensor suite that is driven by a highly advanced, automatic threat detection system that is capable of identifying armed personal through walls at 300m. The impressive capabilities of the tank come at a cost though, the M2120 is easily the most expensive ground vehicle produced by Scion to date. But it is an investment worth every single penny.

M2120A3 MBT

Image
Image
Image

When the first M2120 MBT rolled off the assembly line in 2001 it was considered a top of the line fighting vehicle however it still had several shortcomings that became all to apparent during it's first combat uses. In 2003 the M2120A1 was introduced to rectify some of these shortcomings, updating the electronics systems and crew survivability, however it was considered a stop gap measure. The major improvement to the M2120 came in 2005 with the A2, which turned the M2120 into a far superior fighting machine compared to the tank that bore it, but again the Sciox High Military Council considered it a stepping stone to the next generation the A3, due to their previous experience with the M2120 series Scion Defence was given the contract and the first prototype began trials in late 2009.

Completely redesigning major portions of the tank and installing entirely new, top of the line weapons the A3 is the finest weapon ever produced by Scion Defence.

Unit Price-11 million for complete vehicle, 1.4-5 million to upgrade from previous versions of the M2120

Armament
The A3's main armament is the devastating TG-9 140mm smooth bore mounted on an unmanned turret. While in many ways no different to other 140mm guns the TG-9's principle advantage comes form it's autoloader and caseless rounds which give the tank a punishing rate of fire. Based on the feeding system of the ICR-8 assault rifle the TG-9, stores it's round's on a rotating rack below and beside the main gun. When loading a round the chamber swivels horizontal to the gun and a round is fed into it. The chamber then swivels back into alignment with the gun and when the gunner pulls the trigger the round is fired. To select the next round to load the gunner merely uses a small touch screen in his control area to select the round and the ammunition rack rotates the appropriate round into the loading position and will keep feeding rounds of that type until the gunner changes the selection.

Step 1, a round has just been loaded

Step 2, the chamber rotates 90* to receive the next round (coloured red)
Image
Step 3, the round is fed into the chamber
Image
Step 4, the chamber rotates back into alignment with the chamber
Image
Step 5, the round is fired
Image
The process repeats!

The A3's secondary armament is made up of a co-axial .50 calibre machine gun (200 rounds carried) and two Scion PDWS (Point Defence Weapon Systems), each consisting of a .50 calibre stacked projectile machine gun (400 rounds carried) and six IAD-6 (Infantry Air Defence) missiles.
Image
One of the A3's PDWS weapons

Armour
Like the previous M2120's the A3 features a titanium hull with a sandwich of DU and tungsten mesh over a honeycomb of small empty air cells containing CO2 gas. If the tank is hit the enemy round must burn through the titanium hull, then the DU and tungsten mesh then through a ceramic layer, through the CO2 pockets which are designed to displace oxygen to remove some of the fire threat as well as collapse removing some of the threat of shock damage then through another ceramic layer then a mesh of DU and tungsten and the inner layer of the titanium hull.
The A3 can also be equipped with the latest version of the Gladiator defence system which uses, hard kill, electronic jamming and visual jamming to distract enemy missiles. It can also be equipped with ERA bricks for further protection.

Movement
The A3 has been equipped with a newer SGT-4 gas turbine engine which while slightly more fuel guzzling the the previous SGT-2 produces more horsepower, in this case 1600hp compared to the previous 1500hp. Suspension is provided by the TSS hydro pneumatic-torsion bar hybrid. Use of many weight saving systems throughout the vehicle allow the A3 to reach speeds of 100km/h on road and 75km/h off road with a maximum range of 750km or 1000 with external fuel tanks.

Electronics
The A3 is equipped with full C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence) capability and is designed to operate using the SMBN (Sciox Military Battle Network) which can be accessed from every point on the globe allowing tank platoons to instantly take control of their attached UCAVs or UGVs to scout the area ahead of them, establish links directly to the decision makers behind the lines, or make use of the latest tactical information gathered by everything from infantry recon teams to satellites. All this is driven by a powerful on-board LCC-20 computer linked to multiple touch screens on board the A3 to allow the crew to do more tasks without having dozens of different controls in front of them. For example on the old A1 the gunner would have his joystick and several banks of switches, screens and dials with which to fulfil his task. In the A3 he has just three touch screens and a joystick allowing the gunner to alter the display and controls to suit him more easily.

M-1985 "Wildcat" High Mobility Amphibious Tank

History
The Felis Silvestris was adopted by the Imperial Army in 1985. It was opened to foreign sale shortly thereafter. Named for the Gholgothic Wildcat, the tank first saw action with the 1st Expeditionary Legion in 1989 during the Troubles in Golania. Throughout the years it served in Oregia in 1994, East Turkestan in 2003, in Disia in 2011 during the Varathron War and Great Gholgothic War. Designed as a light, fast, high mobility vehicle, the Wildcat saw success in Imperial Army's most elite units, the Expeditionary and Airborne Legions. Though a strategic success, the tanks light armor and aggressive usage gave it significant casualty rates.

The Wildcat saw replacement in the Imperial Army in the early 2010s with the adoption of M-2010 Felis Catus line of infantry fighting vehicles. It replacement was variant of that line, the M-2011 Felis Chaus Medium Tank. It continues to be used by the Volunteer Drakonian Army, the Territorial Army of Mille Mortifere, the Disian Colonial Army, and more recently wide usage across all military branches of the Confederate States of Anagonia designated as the M-1985 Wildcat Light Tank.

Around 104 AUR, the Confederate States Military, in collaboration with various domestic Anagonian companies as well as overseas companies from the Marquesan States in Gholgoth, were gathered together to refit the M-1985 to be competitive in the modern age. The original, pre-refit M-1985 had served the Confederate Military with distinction in several peacekeeping efforts across the globe, however its outdated electronics capabilities as well as outdated systems presented a problem for the modern military machine and general logistics. This problem was solved through a year-long effort, combining the experienced capabilities of the following domestic and international companies:

-Anagonian Motors (for the engine components)
-Anagonian Electronics (for updating generalized electrical systems)
-Netane Kinetics (for all other electronic systems and weapons)
-Papeete Steelworks (for hulls and rolling gear)
-Arioi Engineering & Design (for technical design, consultation, analysis, and testing facilities)
-Viti Levu Powerplant Works (for powertrains and related components)

The project was initiated on September 9th, 104 AUR as Chief General Elliot Armstrong reached out to the Marquesan States to apply their experience and technical expertise to updating the M-1985. A strong partnership was formed between the domestic Anagonian companies and their personnel as well as Confederate Military personnel, working closely with Marquesan companies and personnel through a year-long effort in redesigning and maintaining sensible components. The result was delivered on September 12th, 105 AUR as the updated M-1985 "Wildcat" High Mobility Amphibious Tank. The refit combined the best attributes of the original M-1985 design and upgraded them to a more productive and all-around Light Tank platform that could move and maneuver through various know terrain obstacles with troops on the ground. The most prominent change that of refitting the M-1985 from a standard, infantry support Light Tank to a mobile amphibious assault platform capable of delivering the necessary firepower to expected future engagements with ground force support.

Specifications (Pre-104 AUR Refit - M-1985 Light Tank Variant)
The Specifications of the M-1985 Wildcat Light Tank are almost exactly similar to those of its original counterpart, the Stingray II. The only exceptions are:

-Additional gear stowage on rear of turret with a flag pole and jerrycan storage.
-Smoke Discharger, similar to the Stingray II variant.
-Low visibility flag marking on the hull.

Overview
The M2101 is the first vehicle in the M2100 series. It is designed to act as a troop carrier, infantry support vehicle and to support armoured vehicles. It is of particular value in urban combat zones where its advanced 360 degree automated detection system can be set to engage any non-friendly targets it identifies, however normally the gun and missile system is controlled by the vehicle’s gunner. Its impressive firepower, speed and survivability make it a choice vehicle for those nations which wish to acquire a fearsome fighting vehicle but do not wish to spend the large amount of money that a modern MBT requires.

Overview
The M2102 is a fearsome mortar system. With its high fire rate and ability to carry laser and GPS guided rounds it takes the firepower of an entire battery and puts it in the hull of one vehicle. An enemy that is unlucky enough to come up against a battery of six 02s can face a barrage of up to 108 (18 rounds from each vehicle) 105mm mortar rounds landing on his position all at once, thanks to the SUMB’s MRSI capability. A capability that any sane platoon commander will rightly fear.

Overview
Modern airborne forces must travel light and that means forgoing the firepower that comes with heavy vehicles such as tanks, most efforts to rectify this problem over the years have normally resulted in vehicles that their crews have described as death traps. Now Scion Defence is proud to present our solution. The M2103 Light Armoured Gun is a tank in everything but name. Its armour is thicker then that of the other M21 vehicles but it is still light and its capacity to take a beating can be further in increased by adding ERA (Explosive reactive armour) plates and the Gladiator anti-missile system. It has also proved its worth when combined with tilt rotor aircraft, allowing companies of vehicles to be delivered direct to the battle zone along with the battalions of airborne infantry they support.

Overview
In the modern world politicians seem all too eager to invest in huge long range anti air and missile missiles that take time to unpack and deploy. But there is still a need for highly mobile missile launchers faster and with a greater range then those carried by infantry. This is the job of the M2106, it has few rivals with it’s ability to stop, ready for launch, launch and then get on the move again all within 60 seconds (depending on radar conditions).

Overview
The M2104 is in many ways an up gunned M2102. The vehicles share many of the same characteristics and capabilities but the M2104 can put more fire onto a target at a greater range. Combine that with the vehicle’s quiet speed and you have an artillery gun very well suited to shoot and scoot tactics. Its potent counter battery power has also been demonstrated in field tests. In one field test a battery of eight M2104s were able to sneak into a firing position only 12km from an insurgent camp. Each vehicle fired off eight cluster munitions rounds; each round contained 24 sub munitions using MRSI resulting in a devastating impact of 1,536 grenade sized sub munitions landing in an 800m square area, all at the same time. As a member of the observation team put it, “Someone ordered the shredded meat with extra overkill”.

The F-60 is a manned stealth aircraft capable of handling air superiority, ground support and patrol missions. A fifth generation multirole stealth fighter it stands above many other aircraft of its type, filling slots that are normally held by aircraft such as the Mig-29, F-16, F-15 or PAK FA. Striking a balance between ultra high performance, but consequently very expensive aircraft and cheap jets that are bought by the hundreds the F-60 can outperform cheap fighters thrown against it en masse and it will typically outnumber dedicated air superiority aircraft that outperform it.

Overview
A next generation light bomber and ground attack UCAV, the Vulture is designed for long term missions, responding to attacks on friendly forces as soon as it is assigned to respond. Using network centric warfare systems control of the aircraft can be quickly shifted from a control station at it's home base to a soldier in the field with a laptop.

With regular refuelling the Vulture can be kept in the air until it runs out of weapons. Something an enemy should be take into account when a Vulture goes on patrol with a load of several dozen rockets and a brace of smart bombs.

Should it's connection to it's controller be broken whether by battle damage or enemy jamming the Vulture will try to patch into a friendly communications network to link up to another control station or it will return to the base it originally left from.

A medium helicopter for troop transport and cargo delivery, the UH-45 Valkyrie began as a research project to address the vulnerability of helicopters in an urban combat zone, over time however it evolved into a full blown aircraft development. While outwardly similar to other aircraft in terms of ability the Valkyrie has a few differences that can give it an edge over other helicopters in combat. The most obvious are the coaxial rotors, while this is in some ways more maintenance intensive then the standard tail rotor design common to most helicopters, it eliminates a deadly weakness in a combat helicopter and places all the components that give the Valkyrie it's maneuverability at the top of the aircraft within the armoured fuselage, making it harder for ground fire to bring down the aircraft. The second slightly less obvious change is the repositioning of the door guns from the front of the troop bay, where they are found on most helicopters, to the rear and combined with a mount that allows the gunner to swing the entire weapon outside the aircraft, allowing the gunner to better cover the rear of the aircraft, when combined with the nose's mounted 20mm gun and it's 360 degree fire radius, a vigilant aircrew is able to keep the immediate area clear of RPG toting hostile infantry, while still covering and infantry embarking or disembarking.

General characteristics:
Cost: 25.3 million NSD

When the parachute was first used in combat it opened a whole new chapter of warfare and over the years the paratrooper concept has evolved to the point where a nation can put boots on the ground at any point on the planet within hours of declaring war but the problem remains of supplying the troops with the heavier gear that can’t be thrown out the back of a plane with them. Now with the VC-4 Scion has made our attempt to rectify this crucial shortcoming in the tip of the spear of many nation’s armies. With the VTOL capability of the VC-4 it is possible to deliver everything from heavy artillery to supplies to medium tanks with speed and accuracy. Its first use was during an exercise between the Republic of Sciox and the Empire of Fogumata. A squadron of four VC-4s was used by the Fogumaten Air Force to deliver two platoons of M2115 medium tanks into the Sciox forces rear. Within hours they had destroyed three Sciox fuel and ammo dumps and drawn enough troops away from the front to allow the Fogumaten army to breakthrough and secure victory and prove the value of a new and valuable aircraft.

The V-30 Phantom builds upon the foundation that was established by the Boeing V-22 Osprey. The first production aircraft of its type the Osprey opened a new door in aircraft design that has been exploited by Scion Defence to design and produce a tilt rotor that raises the bar on tilt rotor design. With its advanced sensor suite, large cargo capacity and impressive survivability the V-30 is the best choice for those nations looking for a tilt rotor that will serve them well and for a long time.

The AV-30 Reaper is based upon the highly successful V-30 Phantom tilt rotor. However instead of acting as a mere utility aircraft the Reaper is designed to take the fight to the enemy and demolish them under a highly accurate barrage of shells and missiles. This allows it to excel in three roles.

-Detection and interdiction of enemy forces
-Escort of less heavily armed aircraft (in particular it’s parent aircraft the Phantom)
-Deployment and support of small Special Forces units.
