Hell, imgur alone would be good enough, but [v] has also allowed multiple competitors (including several basically defunct ones and others that I'm sure nobody other than 5 people have ever heard of, including ones added by specific request, to say nothing of also adding wikipedia, facebook, and twitter).

Anything, except it would last for a month or week, and it's gone after that. Image URL Signatures has sometimes a Expiry.

Hmmm. Alright. Good to know. Thanks, and also to Sherpa Empire. I will have to tinker with the images. I worked around it by just putting them onto Imgur, so I might just keep doing that. A lot of my older images from old storefronts that are on DA seem to be grandfathered in unless I try to edit posts.

It's less about SFW than it is about the image exploit we're blocking. There's zero control on what people can link from Discord.

Also, as far as I know, there's no reasonably-priced software that can look at an image and decide accurately, "oh sure, this is safe for work". There has to be a human in the final loop who decides, "yeah, this isn't porn". As a volunteer, I don't want to spend my days approving images. It's easy enough for you to upload them to an approved site and post from there.

Not really. It's automatically applied via game code. It's not like mods maintain a list somewhere and do it manually.

I do seriously think that this should be made a global announcement.

Not everybody RPs with images, but I do like to RP news articles with images pulled from the internet at the beginning of the articles(which I do fairly frequently in NS Sport), so this whole thing has been extremely frustrating, and seemingly, without any sort of warning whatsoever or explanation(all of a sudden images just would not upload anymore and I had no idea why).

I obviously don't like this quite a bit, but I fully understand that for security purposes, you do what you have to do. If too many image hosts are screwing with the forum software, then I guess from my perspective the only practical way to look at it is 'it is what it is'. I understand we really can't go backwards on this, so I'm not asking for you to do the impossible here. Just had to vent somewhere.

Short of it, could you please make a global announcement about this? Just so everybody isn't caught off guard, and so people understand exactly what's going on, and most importantly, why it's happening, rather than having to come dig through threads in this subforum.

Based on what [violet] saying "It does, unfortunately, make it an incredible pain to edit old posts with images hosted elsewhere" in the OP, images not on the whitelist will still be visible (as in the case of Discord pictures posted before they banned the use of Discord several months ago), but if you edit the post with the image, it won't go through unless you use an approved image host.

I can back that up regarding old posts. AFAIK, your old images should still be working, but if you do any edits, you will need to switch hosts. It happens with me for Discord.

For example: viewtopic.php?p=34893414#p34893414 (Shameless plug, so sorry.)

If I simply edit and submit without changing anything, that's fine. It still has Discord links in there, which are from my personal repo. IF I so much so as insert a letter, there will be an error telling me to use the approved hosts.
