Public holidays mean that most (non-essential) businesses and government services are closed. If mandated to work on a public holiday, employees and civil servants must receive 2x their regular salary. Students of all ages do not have classes on these days. If there is a dated holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it is usually observed on the preceding Friday or following Monday.

January 1 - New Year's Day. Celebrates the first day of a new year. Frequently accompanied with New Year's Eve hangover.

February 10 - Labor Day. Celebrates the achievements of the working class and provides a much-needed day of rest.

March 20 (ish) - Vernal Equinox. No one is really sure why we celebrate this.

Friday before Easter Sunday (April/May-ish) - Good Friday. While most are not outwardly religious in their day-to-day lives, church attendance on major Christian holidays remains high. And those who aren't religious tend to enjoy the day off regardless.

The day after Easter Sunday (April/May-ish) - Easter Monday. See above.

June 20–25 - Summer Holiday. Mostly for kids to take a break from school.

August 15 - National Holiday. Celebrates Haneke and everything related to it. Lots of flag-waving, drinking, and singing the national anthem.

September 23ish - Autumnal Equinox. See Vernal Equinox.

Second Monday of October - Health and Sports Day. Shamelessly stolen from the nation of Japan. A recognized day to get off the couch and move your lazy bones. There is a national 40km walk/march and the government hands out medals to anyone who finishes it.

November 11 - Armistice Day (Veteran's Day). Celebrates peace and the sacrifices of veterans. A long moment of silence at 11am.

December 21 - 31 - Christmas Holiday. Two weeks of festive activities, including Christmas and New Year's Eve. The country effectively shuts down.

There are no official holidays here in Philosocom, but there were mentioning of certain days in articles (for example, Mr. Tomasio Rubinshtein's 23th birthday, or an article regarding Valentine's Day).
This is an actual backlink outpost of an actual website, run by an actual person. Philosocom.com -- free-of-charge philosophical website by Mr. Tomasio Rubinshtein.

These are the major national Holidays recognized as official by Destyntine.

A star (*) indicates if school is closed on these holidays.
A plus (+) indicates if working citizens (non-first responders) may choose to take the day off for this holiday.

*+ 1st January - New Year's Day (The celebration of a new year, fireworks and lightshows are the highlight of the night.)

17th January - Björn Wulfgar Remembrance Day (Celebrating the Founder of the nation and his accomplishments.)

2nd February - Annual Starship Lightshow (A show put on by the capital fleet that lasts from 8pm-10pm to entertain the citizens.)

20th February - Extraterrestrial Discovery Day (Celebration of the day first contact was made with an intelligent extra terrestrial species.)

*+ 9th March - Founder's Day (A celebration of the day the Kingdom of Wulfgar was founded.)

*+ 14th April - Ostara (A Norse holiday held, similar to Easter, in a way the two are celebrated together, with egg hunting and in some regions hare hunting being common activities. This day is devoted to the Old Norse Gods of legend.)

*+ 15th April - Easter (A Christian holiday dedicated to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many attend local egg hunts, religious or not.)

15th-18th May - National Destynic Olympics (The best Destynic native athletes compete in various sports.)

*+ July 5th - Summer Feast (A celebration to celebrate the prosperity of Destyntine held nationally where families gather and eat together.)

+ August 1st - Cleanout Day (Retail prices drop heavily to clear out unwanted and unneeded stock, this is a day people rush for good prices on pretty much everything.)

*+ 30th October - All Hallow's Eve (People dress up in costumes, and as fictional characters publicly. Many exchange candies on the streets and gift them to each other.)

7th-19th November - Annual Scavver Races (A tradition carried over from the Wastelandic times of Eastern Destyntine. This is the forerunner to the annual hovercar race. Citizens from the country who designed their own DIY scrap vehicles compete for their district, with the final race being the victors from each district competing in a race for the winning title. Demolition derbies between the losing competitors are traditionally held on the after event each day.)

20th November - Annual Destynic Hovercar Race (Competitors race for first place in flying cars designed by themselves in a randomly generated arena in the capital city of Tyståska. This is the most watched event in Destyntine. It is held from 7pm-10pm.)

*+ 13th-25th December - Yule (A Norse holiday lasting over the span of 12 days dedicated to pleasing Odin by raising a toast (which may be but doesn't have to be alcoholic) every day for twelve days straight. A feast is held on the last day and a Yule log is burned in the capital city as a form of spiritual protection to the entire nation. Gifts are often exchanged between friends & families on the final day as well.)

*+ 25th December - Christmas (A Christian holiday celebrated by the Christian population, but enjoyed by everybody. Gifts are given to friends & family, and carols are sung by many.)

January 1-3: The Festival of Fire. One of the Four Elemental (Seasonal Festivals). It is a lowkey, household-oriented festival, used by most for a "staycation" or even recovery from the Festival of Renewal's often wild final night.

April 1-3: The Festival of Earth. One of the Four Elemental (Seasonal Festivals). It is characterized by floral decorations, sports games, and pranks.

July 1-3: The Festival of Water. One of the Four Elemental (Seasonal) Festivals. It is traditional to visit and recreate at a body of water within the period. As this has led to overcrowding in recent years, major municipalities have begun to assign households a 4-hour section of the festival to legally visit beaches based on the last digit of their address.

July 31: The Feast of the Republic: A civic festival celebrating the establishment of the 7th Dzrrhian Republic and the 2,400-year Dzrrhian Republican Tradition more broadly. Barbecues and displays of pyrotechnics are common.

September 1: Election day.

October 1-3: The Festival of Air: The last of the Four Elemental (Seasonal) Festivals, it is celebrated by the exchange of gifts and large, communal meals.

December 7-31: The Festival of Renewal. This 24-day festival is the key religious festival of the year in Dzrrhian culture, celebrating the annual death and resuscitation of the God Ospr as a blessing of mortality and mortal life (through the God's willing experience of it) and the benevolence and love of his counterpart, the Goddess Silê in allowing him not only to return to life, but to bring with him to Families the blessings of their ancestors from her realm in the Afterlife. Its first 12 days are somber, contemplative, and of a lenten nature, while the following twelve days are a massive, Staturnalian party. Many businesses shutter longer to let their workers revel freely, while others remain open specifically to profit off of the festival, but about 60% of companies give off certain days, particularly the Middle Two and the Last (19, 20, and 31), to all and particular vacations to certain employees based on their requests. These Three days are when most of the government (aside from Emergency Services) shut down, while lawmaking bodies typically make the whole festival period one of their two recesses of the year. (the other being in Mid to Late August)

The Kingdom of New Luzon inherited most, but not all, of the holidays observed in the antebellum Philippines, some of which are on fixed dates and others on movable dates. Holidays listed are celebrated in the entire country, with nonessential businesses and services unavailable/classes suspended on those days.

    Fixed dates
  1. January 1 - New Year
  2. January 3 - Throne Day - Commemorates the institution of the New Philippine Throne in 1988.
  3. January 14 - Kingdom Day - Commemorates the formal institution of the Kingdom of New Luzon in 1989.
  4. April 9 - Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) - Commemorates the Fall of Bataan and honors the New Filipino and antebellum war dead.
  5. May 1 - Labor Day
  6. June 12 - Independence Day - Commemorates the declaration of the antebellum Philippines' independence from Spain in 1898.
  7. July 27 - INC Day - Commemorates the anniversary of the foundation of the Iglesia ni Cristo in 1914.
  8. August 3 - IFI Day - Commemorates the anniversary of the foundation of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente in 1902.
  9. September 11 - Birth Anniversary of The First King - Commemorates the birth anniversary of King Ferdinand I, who was born in 1917.
  10. November 1 - All Saints' Day
  11. November 2 - All Souls' Day
  12. November 30 - Bonifacio Day - Commemorates Andres Bonifacio, an antebellum hero.
  13. December 8 - Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
  14. December 25 - Christmas Day
  15. December 30 - Rizal Day - Commemorates Jose Rizal, an antebellum hero.

    Movable dates
  1. Lunar New Year - The first day of the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
  2. Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Black Saturday - The Paschal Triduum.
  3. Eid al-Fitr - The end of Ramadan.
  4. Eid al-Adha - The end of the Hajj.
  5. National Heroes' Day - The last Monday of August; commemorates the heroes of both the antebellum Philippines and the Kingdom of New Luzon.
  6. The King's Birthday - Technically considered a movable holiday on account of the holiday itself being tied to the birthday of the ruling sovereign, which in this case is September 13.
Puppet of the New Visayan Islands, typically used for fluff purposes.

Naturally, this does not represent my actual beliefs.

Sometimes used to observe Columbus Day in eastern North America, set in place in 1987 to honor the Viking explorer Leif Erikson's discovery of North America. Per the Caleonian Basic Law, Article 140.

  • January 1 (Fixed): New Year’s Day- A day celebrating the start of the new year.
  • March 3-9 (Floating Monday): Veterans Day- A day to not only honor those who fought to create the Federation but to honor those who continued to fight in the midst of possible Russian interference of the creation of Caleon.
  • August 27 to September 3 (Fixed): Golden Week- Golden Week is a combination of 7 different fixed holidays from August 27th to September 3rd, starting with Revolution Day on August 27th and Caleon Unity Day on September 3rd. Caleon schools cannot start before Golden Week ends.
  • August 27 (Fixed): Revolution Day- August 27, 1952 marks the day of which Caleon began a series of Eastern Bloc revolts in the mid 1950s, all of which were brutally suppressed.
  • August 28 (Fixed): CARS Day- Caleonian Auto Racing Series Day celebrates the history of the Caleonian Auto Racing Series, Caleon’s national sport, on the anniversary of the first race the sport held, which was on August 28th, 2009.
  • August 29 (Fixed): Day of Reckoning- Basically Caleon’s version of Halloween. The date comes from a mythical story of a serial killer who would massacre a family only on August 29th. This story is not real, but Caleon children learn about it nonetheless.
  • August 30 (Fixed): Thanksgiving- Mirrors the American Thanksgiving celebrations, except it marks the date that the first Caleonian settlers from Laos set up permanent settlements in Germany, which was on August 30th, 1837.
  • August 31 (Fixed): Caleon Independence Day- Caleon Independence Day marks the day that Caleon as a sovereign entity declared independence from the Democratic Republic of Germany, as East Berlin, formally making all of Berlin apart of the Federal Republic of Germany. This celebration lasts 3 days, which parallels the amount of time it took for Caleon to hold off Soviet aggression.
  • September 3 (Fixed): Caleon Unity Day- Caleon Unity Day marks the day that Caleon officially ratified its Basic Law, allowing most of the Western nations of the Cold War to recognize Caleon as an independent country, which includes the entirety of Germany.
  • September 17 (Fixed): Mikudayō Day and Koijime Constitution Day- A pair of non-federal public holidays recognized by all 8 Lands of Caleon that celebrate Caleon’s national animal, the Mikudayō, and the anniversary of the Koijime Constitution being ratified in Laos.
  • December 25 (Fixed): Christmas Day- Celebrates the legend of Saint Nicholas and the birth of Jesus. It is mostly celebrated in the Catholic communities of cscoop.
  • December 26 (Fixed): Boxing Day- The irreligious version of Christmas Day. It celebrates the end of the first of the many civil wars in Ancient Caleon. The Catholic communities of cscoop also celebrate Boxing Day.

January 1st - New Years Day - Celebration of the next year to come.

February 14th - Valentine's Day - Day of love.

April - Easter - One of few celebrated Christian holidays.
April 9th-13th - Spring Festival - Second of Mammalicism holidays, celebrates spring arriving.
June 27th - Grief Day - Replaces Remembrance Day, is the date of the ascension of dictator Luka Milson
July 14th - Bastille Day - Duotona has a strong relation to France, so also observes Bastille Day.
July 29th-August 2nd - Summer Festival - 3rd Mammalicism holiday, and the most widely celebrated. Where most Mammalicism prayer occurs.

Tangatarehua has holiweeks rather than holidays, plus the Empress's birthday on July 1st.

The main holidays, which usually last around a week are:

Te Whakanui i a Rehua: (Festival of Rehua), usually held in the last week of March to mark the Autumn Equinox as well as the appearance of the star Rehua (also known as Antares, in the constellation Scorpio) in the night sky. Mostly people get really, really drunk to celebrate not unlike St. Patrick's Day (which sometimes to corresponds with the dates) only it lasts a whole week.

Hakari o te Takurua: (Feast of Winter), usually held in the last week of June to mark the winter solstice. Usually marked by a family meal, traditionally roast pork and kumara/potatoes with traditions not dissimilar to western Christmas, sometimes including gift-giving.

Te Whakanui i a Puanga: (Festival of Puanga), usually held in the last week of September (sometimes early October) to mark the Spring Equinox and appearance of the star Puanga (also known as Rigel in the constellation Orion) in the night sky. Fertility is a significant theme; brace yourself for public nudity and dancing in the streets.

Hakari o te Raumati: (Feast of Summer), usually held in the last week of December to mark the summer solstice and usually coincides with Christmas (which is not celebrated in Tangatarehua) and New Years Eve/Day. Basically it's the week that everyone gets time off work to go on a summer holiday somewhere, the beaches, roads and transportation systems get nice and clogged during Hakari o te Raumati.

Holidays, in Alkmaaria, make it mandatory for time off of work for that day.
Here is the list of Alkmaarian holidays:
January 1st: New Years Day. A celebration of the year to come.
March 12th: Black Friday. Only day of the year the sale of alcohol is legal. Introduced to give a small boost to the annual GDP, and to increase nationwide productivity.
April 14th: Leader day. Celebrates leader's birthday.
June 7th: Independence day. Celebrates the day Alkmaaria gained independence from the Netherlands.
July 13th: Caesar Day. Celebrates Julius Caesar's Birthday, because he was a role model for all dictators.
October 31st: Halloween. Solely celebrated due to increasing demands by candy companies to market their products. Also provides small boost to annual GDP.
December 20th: All Leader's Day. Alkmaarian form of Christmas. Many military parades are conducted during the day, and many families exchange gifts.
December 31st: New Year's Eve. Celebrates the eve of New Year's Day.

The Disorder holds two festivals per cosmic year on average (291.2 days), each of which lasts for one cosmic day (54.6 hours).

These festivals are general-purpose holidays for celebrating literally anything imaginable. Typically, the Disorder celebrates by feasting, getting high, flying spaceships, and blowing up asteroids with really big weapons. These multi-purpose festivals are just as wild as the anarchists that call the Disorder home.

Festivals occur at pseudo-randomized times, so they're a surprise for everyone involved, and the Disorder's enemies can never predict when one is going to happen.
A secular destruction-cult, a rogue nation of space nomads, militarized mad scientists & anarchists.

NS Stats for The Disorder are not IC. These are.
A 4.333 civilization, according to this index.
