Homosexuality is tolerated, legal.
Homosexuality was depenalized in 1981 and removed from the mental disorders list in 2001.
Homosexuals are protected from discrimination, but. They don't have the same rights as heterosexual couples. They can be officially couples with a notarial declaration, but accepts foreign marriage certifies.
By now marriage or adoption are not allowed to homosexuals.
But, the Parliament is studying to approve the extension marriage to homosexual couples and ease adoption.

Sexual Activity
1. Is sexual activity between 2 consenting adults of the same sex legal? Yes.
2. If it's illegal, what are the punishments for it? N/A

Gender Identity
1. Can citizens of your nation change their legal gender? Yes. The gender segment of the LGBTQ struggle in Glengo was considerably delayed compared to the romantic and sexual movements.
2. Can citizens of your nation undergo gender transitional surgery? Yes.
3. Is gender transitional surgery REQUIRED for one to change their legal gender? No, but this used to be the case.

Military Rights
1. Are openly LGBTQ+ Citizens allowed to join your nation's military? In theory, yes. The Glenganese military ceased to exist shortly before full protections were allotted for all LGB members. LGBTQ members can serve in the police force, other services, and in government capacity from secretary to President.
2. If no, are closeted LGBTQ+ Citizens required to undergo a "gay test" before joining? N/A
3. If yes and your nation imposes conscription, are LGBTQ+ citizens included in the draft? N/A

Discrimination Protections
1. Does your nation's constitution ban discrimination against LGBTQ+ citizens? Yes, and it has since about 1988. In this re-draft, protection was quite explicit, but prior drafts could have been interpreted to be.
2. If no, are there laws that ban such discrimination? N/A
3. Is speech that mocks/insults the LGBTQ+ Community banned in your nation? No, but this is effectively true as the government relies upon citizens to find such remarks objectionable and worthy of ridicule/critique.

Recognition of Same-Sex relationships
1. Does your nation have constitutional limits that ban same-sex marriage/civil unions or the prohibition thereof? No.
2. Can 2 citizens of the same sex register for a civil union in your nation? Yes.
3. Can 2 citizens of the same sex marry each other in your nation? Yes.
In regards to this topic, the country was the first to legalise same-sex marriage within polyamory, as it was implied partners of the same gender could interact with each other equally to the heterosexual pairing(s). Now, simply 2 people can get married, but many Glenganese maintain that polyamorous families have always been an extension of gay marriage.

Adoption Rights
1. Can openly LGBTQ+ citizens who are not in a same-sex civil union/marriage adopt children? Yes, as even licensed single people can adopt, LGBTQ or otherwise.
2. Can openly LGBTQ+ citizens who are in a same-sex civil union/marriage adopt children? Yes. This is ultimately what broke down most barriers and lifted conservative objection to LGBTQ couples over the hang-up of not "having" kids or being able to, biologically speaking.
3. Can openly LGBTQ+ citizens adopt children through a surrogacy? Yes, and for some years this was the only way lesbian couples could adopt children, as one would be the surrogate. This unsurprisingly didn't survive.
4. If no, is this banned for Straight citizens as well? N/A

Misc. Rights
1. Are openly LGBTQ+ citizens allowed to donate blood? Yes, as everyone undergoes the same pre-donation testing and interview.
2. Is same-sex sex education taught in your nation's schools? Yes.
3. Referring to Question 2, if yes, did this come about naturally or by law? It originally came about naturally when the nation was decolonising and found out about a gayer pre-contact past than expected. Now, the law buffs this up by sanctioning parts of a historical figure's identity, understanding cultural/historic motivations, and most importantly in health classes where students are encouraged to delve into this identity angle and at least think "about it" in relation to themselves and others.
4. Is conversion therapy illegal in your nation? Yes.
What if some ancient Filipina got really, really religious about the ocean?
What if there was a sizeable island between Taiwan and Luzon?
What if both of these generated bizarre and frankly random butterfly effects?

All of these and more are revealed on Glengo Island... ~+~~+~~+~

OOC- Any other states presenting themselves as representing all or part of the nation of Tropico from the series of City Builders are not operated by me nor are they canon to Estado de Tropico's lore. The existence of such states as have been founded on or after the 18th of October 2021, seemingly in response to my activity, have done so without my consent, but are permitted to do so by virtue of Tropico as a general country not being the unique and original intellectual property of any NS player. Nonetheless, their existence, being conflicting with my own, should be interpreted as taking place in a separate universe, as Nation States is multiversal, and no claims of accomplishing or attempting secession or other seizure of power from or by Estado de Tropico are true.

Sexual Activity
1. Is sexual activity between 2 consenting adults of the same sex legal?
The status of Homosexual relations depends on the region. However, sexual relations between two members of the same sex are legal almost everywhere, except for in the villages of Winnie, Sarjent, and Boling-Iago. Most laws do not make any distinction between homosexual relations and heterosexual relations of that kind either, and any laws regarding the legality of sex treat the two as the same.

2. If it's illegal, what are the punishments for it?
The towns where homosexual sex is illegal typically only loosely enforce it. However, when it is enforced, it is typically in the form of fines and/or public shaming depending on the village mayor. However, as stated previously, this is only loosely enforced and most people get away without any kind of legal punishment.

Gender Identity
1. Can citizens of your nation change their legal gender?
Technically, yes. But the way this happens is kind of confusing. For while Wexans don't think you can become a man or woman, you can still change your gender within legal documentation. This many evolved from when Wexas was in its earlier, more violent, phase where lords would allow families to sign their women as men and their men as women if the male was infirm, sick, or otherwise unable to perform his duties. While Wexan views on gender have changed throughout the years, this practice remains. This does mean only married individuals can change their gender, and it's most ceremonial nowadays, it is still possible.

2. Can citizens of your nation undergo gender transitional surgery?
Legally, yes. However, one can imagine that such a "surgery" would be very dangerous, possibly deadly, and would not produce the results the individual wanted. Not to mention, no anesthesia - maybe a mouthguard if you're lucky. As such, while legal, it is not recommended due to the medieval levels of technology Wexas currently has.

3. Is gender transitional surgery REQUIRED for one to change their legal gender?
    No.

Military Rights
1. Are openly LGBTQ+ Citizens allowed to join your nation's military?
Yes. The Wexan way of war is that of making sure you have more peasants with sharp sticks than the opposing force, and as such, any able-bodied individual is allowed to join and in some cases may be forced to join.

2. If no, are closeted LGBTQ+ Citizens required to undergo a "gay test" (like the one in Turkey) before joining?
    N/A

3. If yes and your nation imposes conscription, are LGBTQ+ citizens included in the draft?
Yes. LGBT individuals are included in the conscription laws if they are available for service.

Discrimination Protections
1. Does your nation's constitution ban discrimination against LGBTQ+ citizens?
No. Though, this is because there is no constitution to begin with.

2. If no, are there laws that ban such discrimination?
Yes-and-no. Laws banning violence do exist, but they're more in general than specifically targeting gay people. Killing/Hurting people for being homosexual, a different race, etc are all illegal, however, this is unless they are given permission by their local lord/mayor/theocrat. However, this is extremely rare, as most people in positions of power see this as barbaric and - at the very least - want to maintain good relations with their neighbors by not allowing violence against people on basis that their neighbors think is wrong. Other forms of discrimination, such as employment, are not banned however.

3. Is speech that mocks/insults the LGBTQ+ Community banned in your nation?
No. However, if someone jumps or attacks a person who was "starting something" by mocking insulting LGBT individuals or the LGBT community as a whole, the attackers are technically protected under the law so long as the person isn't killed as the insults may be considered "fighting words."

Recognition of Same-Sex relationships
1. Does your nation have constitutional limits that ban same-sex marriage/civil unions or the prohibition thereof?
Not constitutional, but again, only because there is no constitution.

2. Can 2 citizens of the same sex register for a civil union in your nation?
Yes. Civil Unions are referred to as "Equal Dependencies" in Wexas, under the cultural idea that romantic couples are supposed to be equally dependent on the other. Equal Dependencies may be granted to any two consenting adults, however, they have some serious downsides to regular marriage. Equal Dependencies are not included in inheritance laws, divorcees will not receive any percentage of the other person's wealth, and children produced from such a relation are considered to be "half-bastards" (similar function to the child of a concubine in polygamous societies) as those under a civil union are considered to only be only connected by flesh and not by soul. Of course, gay couples do not have to worry too much about half-bastards, but the lack of inheritance, divorce proceedings, and other benefits/responsibilities make Equal Dependencies unpopular.

3. Can 2 citizens of the same sex marry each other in your nation?
Legally, yes. There are no laws stating that people of two sex cannot get married, and secular nobility will respect the wishes of Speakers (Priests) if they marry two members of the same sex. However, that's where the issue comes about. A theological issue with gay marriage is whether or not certain people can form "families" as traditionally marriage was supposed to produce children. This means that priests may not marry homosexual couples as they are unable to produce children, an attitude that also extends to the infertile, the elderly, the inbred, and those of close familial ties (Siblings/First Cousins). However, there are those who will, believing that family simply means people who love each other rather than people who love each other and can produce children. So, it depends on the area. The Speaker of Matagorda has made attempts in promoting the latter policy though, which is unpopular but has convinced some priests to join his side of the theological arguments.

Adoption Rights
1. Can openly LGBTQ+ citizens who are not in a same-sex civil union/marriage adopt children?
No. But neither can straight people who are not in a civil union/marriage. There are a few exceptions to this, however, which include clergy, widows/widowers, those who cannot produce children such as the infertile, infirm, celibate, or elderly, and the monarch who can legally do whatever they want to do. These include LGBT members of the aforementioned groups as well.

2. Can openly LGBTQ+ citizens who are in a same-sex civil union/marriage adopt children?
Yes. There are no restrictions for people who are in a civil union or married to adopt children.

3. Can openly LGBTQ+ citizens adopt children through a surrogacy?
    No.

4. If no, is this banned for Straight citizens as well?
Yes. Surrogacy, perhaps unfortunately, is considered to be "consensual cuckoldry" in most regions and even in regions where it isn't, the child is not considered "blood" and has a similar status to an adopted child or "half-bastard."

Misc. Rights
1. Are openly LGBTQ+ citizens allowed to donate blood?
No, but this is because of a lack of technology rather than legal requirements.

2. Is same-sex sex education taught in your nation's schools?
By technicality, yes. Sex Education is only taught in secular colleges - especially have an endemic problem with pregnancy, etc. Sex education normally touches on homosexual relations as well often describes how to do it safely - or as safe as possible given technology. Religious schools and other schools do not teach sex education at all, as either teaching it would go against religious values or because it is not seen as necessary.

3. Referring to Question 2, if yes, did this come about naturally or by law?
Naturally, no distinction is made between homosexual sex or even heterosexual sodomy in Wexan culture. As such, it is natural for it to be taught in schools. Although, that's if sex education is taught at all.

4. Is conversion therapy illegal in your nation?
No, but it is not popular anyways.
