Hello people of nationstates. I'm starting this because I'm curious about other nations firearms laws. Describe your nations laws using the questions below. Simple yeses or no's will do, but I'd really like to hear about details.

What is the minimum age for purchase of firearms?
What is the minimum age for possession of firearms/ammunition?
Are citizens allowed to carry firearms? If so, do they require a special license or permit?
What firearms are citizens allowed to purchase?
What will prohibit someone from buying/possessing firearms or ammunition?

Are firearms registered in your country?
Is there a limit to the amount of firearms someone may own?
Is there a limit to the amount of ammo someone may purchase?
Does your nation have a right to bear arms or something similar?
What is the full process for purchase of a firearm in your country?

I'll Start
What is the minimum age for purchase of firearms? 18
What is the minimum age for possession of firearms/ammunition? 18
Are citizens allowed to carry firearms? If so, do they require a special license or permit? citizens are allowed to carry, and don't require special licenses or permits.
What firearms are citizens allowed to purchase? Anything except for lock on weapons, guided weapons, nukes, bio and chemical weapons.
What will prohibit someone from buying/possessing firearms or ammunition? These things will prohibit you from purchasing or possessing firearms or ammunition. A felony conviction. (Unless it was pardoned, 10 years has passed since the completion of your sentence, or your record has been removed.) An involuntary commitment to a mental institution for reasons of suicide or insanity. (Unless a doctor, psychiatrist, or psychologist can verify that you are not a threat to yourself or others.) If you are convicted by reason of insanity in a criminal case. If you are wanted for a felony. If you are awaiting trial for a felony. If you aren't a citizen or legal resident or you have denounced your citizenship. (Diplomats and their security as well as foreign military personnel that are stationed in Demarvia may possess firearms and ammunition but may not purchase them from stores.) You aren't at least 18. (16 for hunting license holders)

-

Is there a limit to the amount of ammo someone may purchase? No
Does your nation have a right to bear arms or something similar? No, however, firearms possession has always been a part of Demarvian history
What is the full process for purchase of a firearm in your country? First a person must obtain a firearms safety certificate(police, military, and hunters license holders are exempt from the safety certificate requirement.), then they may go to a firearms dealer, pick a gun, pass a background check run through the national system named the F.E.S, and if you pass that, you will be allowed to take your firearm home.

What is the minimum age for purchase of firearms? 18

What is the minimum age for possession of firearms/ammunition? 18

Are citizens allowed to carry firearms? If so, do they require a special license or permit? All citizens of Cavirfi are allowed to possess firearms, however they must undergo a 3-minute background check, a 1-month gun safety lecture seminar, and a 6-month gun safety simulation training seminar before they can get a 1-star license to own 1-star rated guns

What firearms are citizens allowed to purchase? The first license that citizens acquire (the 1-star license) allows them to possess the following firearms

List of 1-star licensed guns:
After that, citizens can take another licensing process which requires: A 6-minute background check, a 2-month gun safety lecture seminar, and a 12-month gun safety training simulation seminar before they can acquire a 2-star weapons license which allows for 2-star , which are more damaging and powerful than 1-star guns.

List of 2-star licensed guns:
After that, citizens can take another licensing process which requires: A 12-minute background check, a 4-month gun safety lecture seminar, and a 24-month gun safety training simulation seminar before they can acquire a 3-star weapons license which allows them to get 3-star guns, which are the most damaging guns, a regular non-police, civilian can get.

List of 3-star licensed weapons:
There are 4-star and 5-star guns however only the National Police and the Sovereign Guard (Military) are allowed to have these guns respectively. As they are highly damaging and is one-shot fatal if the target is unprotected. For simplicity purposes, I will not list these guns as their types vary and will make this entry too long anyways.

What will prohibit someone from buying/possessing firearms or ammunition? All citizens who don't have a license are barred from buying guns, people with criminal records are also not allowed to possess guns of any form, Crabaiaian Refugees with special status are allowed guns but the process is longer than for regular citizens

Are firearms registered in your country? Yes, see above

Is there a limit to the amount of firearms someone may own? No, for as long as the rating of the gun is below 3/5

Is there a limit to the amount of ammo someone may purchase? For pistols, a maximum of 330 rounds at a time is allowed. For assault rifles/SMGs, a maximum of 360 rounds at a time is allowed, for shotguns, a maximum of 50 rounds at a time, for sniper rifles, a maximum of 60 rounds, and for grenade launches, a maximum of 8 grenades are allowed

Does your nation have a right to bear arms or something similar? The right to bear arms is not guaranteed in Cavirfi's Constitution.

What is the full process for purchase of a firearm in your country? See above sections

Are citizens allowed to carry firearms? If so, do they require a special license or permit? Yes and yes. Specifically, they must demonstrate that they have taken and passed a firearms safety course, and register with the Mevraqi Revolutionary Guard (MRG).
What firearms are citizens allowed to purchase? Most small arms are legal.
What will prohibit someone from buying/possessing firearms or ammunition? Anyone flagged by the Mevraqi Health Service as "likely to cause injury to themselves or others" is barred from buying firearms. If they already own firearms, they will be required to temporarily give up said firearms. Any individual who has been dishonorably discharged from the military or stripped of security clearance is also barred from owning firearms.

Are firearms registered in your country? Yes. It is essential to the aforementioned mental health checks. In addition, all firearms owners can theoretically be drafted into the MRG.
Is there a limit to the amount of firearms someone may own? Not nationally, but most cities limit the number of firearms that may be kept in a single home to one per gun owner. The MRG maintains public armories in all such cities where citizens may store additional guns. In most cities, these armories are conveniently located next to shooting ranges.
Is there a limit to the amount of ammo someone may purchase? No.
Does your nation have a right to bear arms or something similar? Yes.
What is the full process for purchase of a firearm in your country? Prior to purchasing a firearm, the buyer must show verification of completing a firearms safety course and MRG registration. A background check will be completed at the time of purchase. Some jurisdictions impose waiting periods, but there is no national requirement.

What is the minimum age for purchase of firearms? 18
What is the minimum age for possession of firearms/ammunition? 16 with parental permission (14 if weapon is class E), 18 otherwise
Are citizens allowed to carry firearms? If so, do they require a special license or permit? Concealed and Open carry both need permits, which are may-issue. However, this does not apply to guns categorized as "non-automatic rifles", which is to say bolt-action, lever-action, break-action, and pump-action rifles along with antiques such as Muskets. Open carry is fully legal for those kinds of rifles - provided said rifles are registered, partly due to the hunting traditions of the Near Islands.
What firearms are citizens allowed to purchase? A citizen can buy any firearm they so please, excluding weapons of mass destruction, in theory. However, in practice, there is a tier list. tl;dw: Muskets just need to over 18, Pistols/Not-Semi-Automatic Rifles/Shotguns just need to be over 18 + given training, Semi-Automatic Rifles/Shotguns need to be over 18, given training, and be associated with a shooting club, hunting club, or otherwise, and fully automatic rifles are illegal unless given a special license by the government.

What will prohibit someone from buying/possessing firearms or ammunition? Felons, repeat misdemeanants, and foreigners cannot buy weapons or ammunition from licensed gun stores.

Are firearms registered in your country? All firearms must be registered with the government except for weapons produced before 1930, are deactivated, or are only single-shot.
Is there a limit to the amount of firearms someone may own? No
Is there a limit to the amount of ammo someone may purchase? No
Does your nation have a right to bear arms or something similar? While guns are a part of Near Islander culture, they do not have a "right" to bear arms, but rather a "privilege" to bear arms. This has caused some protests, in all honesty.
What is the full process for purchase of a firearm in your country? For the average bolt-action rifle (the most commonly bought firearm in the Near Islands) a person would have to prove their 18 and go through a training program until their instructor believes they are fit to own a rifle.

Citizens are allowed to carry firearms unless private property owners forbid it or they are on Imperial property. Licenses for firearm authorization are given once the owner declares loyalty to the Empire and Emperor, alongside a background check for Rebel ties.

Older-generation energy weapons, stun guns, hunting weapons, etc.
What will prohibit someone from buying/possessing firearms or ammunition?

18, with a licence. However, is someone between the age of 14 - 17 holds a youth firearms' licence, they may own firearms and ammunition specifically designed for sporting purposes only.

Are citizens allowed to carry firearms? If so, do they require a special license or permit?
Citizens must obtain a firearms licence before they are permitted to purchase or carry firearms. Open carry is not permitted at any time, concealed carry is permitted for pistols only.

What firearms are citizens allowed to purchase?
An A Category licence grants the holder the ability to purchase pistols.
A B Category licence grants the holder the ability to purchase pistols, as well as bolt-action rifles, or shotguns holding less than 6 rounds.
A C Category licence grants the holder the above abilities, as well as the ability to purchase semi-automatic rifles, and non-automatic shotguns holding up to 12 rounds.
A D Category licence grants the holder the above abilities, as well as the ability to purchase automatic shotguns, and sub-machine guns.
An F Category licence grants the holder the above abilities, as well as the ability to purchase automatic rifles.
An MSAW Category licence grants the holder the above abilities, as well as the ability to purchase any other weapon the government has classified as a "Military Style Assault Weapon".

What will prohibit someone from buying/possessing firearms or ammunition?
Serious criminal history, failure of a character check, the inability to properly demonstrate firearm safety awareness, or the inability to demonstrate that the firearms will be safely stored may stop someone from obtaining a licence, meaning they aren't permitted to buy/possess firearms or ammunition.

Are firearms registered in your country?
No, although all purchases/gifts/exchanges involving a firearm are logged and added to your firearms licence file, accessible by you, the Police and the Ministry of Justice (the latter by court order only).

Is there a limit to the amount of firearms someone may own?
No, so long as they're permitted to own those type of firearms under their category of licence.

Is there a limit to the amount of ammo someone may purchase?
No, so long as they're permitted to own those type of ammunitions under their category of licence.

Does your nation have a right to bear arms or something similar?
No, but every citizen over the age of 14 has the right to apply for a youth firearms licence, and those over the age of 18 have the right to apply for a normal licence. All licence holders have the right to apply for different categories, and must be informed of any reason for failure, in detail, throughout the whole process.

What is the full process for purchase of a firearm in your country?
Assuming you currently possess the correct category firearm licence, you would go to a firearms shop and purchase it. During the purchase process the shop will check your current licence status/validity, make you sign a purchase agreement (which is logged and sent to the Police for your file), and then give you the gun. A stand-down period is not required although most firearms shops have enacted their own, ranging from 90 minutes to 24 hours.
