"The Empire does not require allies in it's guest to reclaim Terra from the hands of disgusting Xenos. We as a people are reborn from the ashes of Defeat and our very survival makes us superior to any other Political entity in our Galaxy. I reckon that you guys use something to bend and shrink the space in front of you and then stretch the space behind you, to travel several times faster than light, and maybeeee avoid time dilation effects. For perspective, my spaceship has clocked in at 1e+40 km/h, around 9.27e+30 c using a combination of space warping and wormholes. It is a little too fast, but it gets me where I need to go without all the problems of coming back to Valentine Z centuries later!
