Postby Anagonia » Sat Apr 03, 2021 10:52 am

Year 104 Presidential Election
Anagonian General Election decided upon by the users of Nationstates

Purpose(OOC)
This years election will be slightly different than the usual and if successful will be repeated each time an election is to transpire for my country. The voting process will be public and each player who reads this thread will be granted one vote for a specific Candidate. At the end of five days - the length of time I'm usually away on the road - the poll will be closed and the final results will equal who runs the Confederacy. I will provide all of the necessary information for an informative decision with brief details on the parties and candidates themselves. Other players are welcomed to ask questions in character, though it may be slow to respond due to my job (apologies!).

Thank you for your interest, your vote, and participating to help decide the next President! Readers may comment their opinions via IC perspectives, such as news sources. Thank you also for those who decide to do this! It humbles me greatly at your awesome work!

Overview
Every Five Years, as clarified by AMENDMENT III to SECTION I - EXECUTIVE BRANCH to the Constitution of the Confederate States established on September 1st, 1 AUR, the citizens of Anagonia come together on an election holiday to vote for their next President. The process is simple in Anagonia. Each member-state in the Confederacy provides the final tally of votes within their state and counted according to their own laws, to be sent to the CONFEDERATE OFFICE of VOTES and ELECTIONS to be counted again for two days following the election holiday. There, as the final votes are counted for each specific Candidate for President, the state then is granted its voice with ONE VOTE to a specific Presidential Candidate, for a final vote equaling the number of states within the Confederacy - 7 votes at present.

There are any number of political parties allowed within the Grand Senate and Grand House of Representatives of the Confederacy. Generally, however, there are five major political parties that exist on the national stage. These parties consist of the Confederate National Party, the Federalist Party, the Libertarian Party, the Socialist Party of Anagonia, and the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia. Each political parties works together for a common goal or against another depending on the votes and views of the citizens they represent. There is a constant, strong competition between the opposing views of each party, though generally maturity and discourse always win over disputes.

Each member-state within the Confederacy is represented by four(4) Grand Senators to the Grand Senate of the Confederacy and eight(8) Grand Representatives to the Grand House of Confederate Representatives. At present with seven(7) sovereign member-states, the Grand Senate consists of 28 Grand Senators and the Grand House consists of 56 Grand Representatives.

The Political Parties - a Brief

Every four years, as dictated by Section II - LEGISLATIVE BRANCH of the Constitution of the Confederate States, the member-states of the Confederacy hold their own internal elections to decide who represents them to the Confederate Government in the form of Grand Senators and Grand Representatives. These elections are considered entirely separate from central government authority and are left up to the states to decide, who will then send their results to the CONFEDERATE OFFICE of VOTES and ELECTIONS for a review of fairness and counting, where therein their elected representatives are approved.

These Grand Senators and Grand Representatives therefore hypothetically hold the most sway in the government. They are paid according to their work, and only their work, and make as much money as they provide benefit to their citizens they represent. This incentive makes the concept of mutual cooperation much more enticing in the Grand House of Confederate Representatives and the Grand Senate of the Confederate, which combined are commonly referred to as the Grand Congress of the Confederacy. Last years election of representatives saw a dramatic shift in the political party spectrum.

The Political Parties - in Detail

-- The Confederate Nationalist Party
Brief Summary:
The Confederate National Party was founded by then-Colonel Tiberius Samsus, later the First President of the Nation, whom is widely considered to be the founding father of the Confederacy. As such, their ideals are directly influenced by the Constitution of the Confederate States, and can be generally considered to be the party of die-hard Constitutionalists. They strongly value devolution of central government authority and believe that the prosperity and unity of the nation relies heavily on the success and strength of independent and sovereign states within the Confederacy, enforced by mutual cooperation through the Judicial and Legislative Branch of the Confederate government. The goals of the Confederate National Party are pretty straightforward: They favor devolution and states-rights, as well as maintaining law and order between states as well as fair and equal state representation within the legal and judicial system. They believe firmly that the success of the economy lays directly with the success of states. The Confederate National Party believes in a strong military, and this in some regards gains them most of the mutual cooperation with the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia, though they still have a majority of opposing ideals. They work closely with the Libertarian Party, whose ideals match those of the Constitution in terms of personal liberties. They have a love/hate relationship with the Federalist Party which includes mutual cooperation on matters of economic business as well as prosperity of the nation. They work closely with the Socialist Party of Anagonia, insofar as providing for citizenry is concerned through various social welfare programs.

-- The Federalist Party
Brief Summary:
The Federalist Party is a holdover of the federalist ideals from the United Republic, though without the warhawk strategy and massive government corruption. It is the belief of the federalist party that a stronger, more perfect union can be achieved by sacrificing some of the rights of the states in favor of centralizing government authority. As such, they generally support any political maneuvering that seeks to further these goals. They favor a strong, centralized national economy backed by a capitalist system. They're basically the party of banks, economic prosperity, and central federal authority. They work closely with the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia and have a love/hate relationship with the Confederate National Party. They are opposed occasionally by the Confederate National Party, though it is not uncommon for both parties to work together when it is matters of the economy and prosperity. They are directly opposed by the Socialist Party of Anagonia.

-- Socialist Party of Anagonia
Brief Summary:
Effectively Social Democrats, the Socialist Party of Anagonia is heavily influenced by political rhetoric from the Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav. Unlike their opposites in the Fascist Party, the Socialist Party does not deny this influence. Instead they allow their actions speak of their intentions, and through their influence the Confederacy has established various social welfare programs designed to better the impoverished of the country. As such, they are typically favored by the poorer of the country and those outside the walks of normal society. They favor any decision that maintains the democratic traditions of the country and strongly support welfare programs and state run social programs. They work closely with the Confederate National Party and the Libertarian Party. They are opposed strongly by the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia as well as the Federalist Party.

-- Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia
Brief Summary:
The Fascist Party is concerned with the national security of the country. They're essentially the favored party of diehard military and imperialist supporters as well as leftover warhawk sympathizers groups from the days of the United Republic. They favor direct, central control by figureheads and prompt security response as well as direct interventionism in international affairs concerning the security of the nation. This combined makes their main focus that of domestic and foreign security, and they'd likely be in favor of isolationism. Perplexingly, they are also heavily influenced by the political machinations of the Imperial Drekamythian Empire, though fervently deny any allegations as to such. They work closely with the Federalist Party and are Opposed strongly by the Socialist Party of Anagonia. They have a mild working relationship with the Confederate National Party.

-- The Libertarian Party
Brief Summary:
The Libertarian Party is the favored party of citizens who value the least government and state interference. They believe in low taxation, if none at all, and programs that allow citizens to directly influence the outcome of local, state, and national government decisions. Due to their strong belief that each individual has a right to their own version of happiness, they are the favored party of LGBTQ groups as well as non-human groups. They believe each citizen should be well armed and trained to defend themselves, and support the national decision for mandatory military service. They work closely with the Confederate National Party and are generally unopposed by anyone other party.

The Candidates - in Detail

1. The Libertarian Party Candidate
Name:
Mileethus Canisilus
Race:
Native Komodren
Age:
57
Birthplace:
Town of Hiberton, Grand Republic of Orgath, CSA
Married To:
Auristi Canisilus

Brief Biography:
Mileethus was born in to an unknown Komodren family that had given him up for adoption at birth. Finding a home as an only child with the Native European family of Angolor and Rubil Canisilus, he lived his early years in poverty. His parents worked diligently to provide for Mileethus education, ensuring he attended schooling in his local town of Hiberton in the State of Orgath. Mileethus would later attend college, finding a flair for political sciences and eventually grow into a rather respected local township official. From there he would serve a voluntary four year term in the Confederate States Military Police, thereafter running for the State Senate of Orgath and eventually gaining a position as one of the states senators. Years later he would run for position as one of Orgaths Grand Senators, attaining the position after a brief contested election.

Mileethus still currently lives in Hiberton, State of Orgath, CSA and remains an active serving senator in the Grand Senate of the Confederacy.

Political Ambitions:
Mileethus is presently running as a Presidential Hopeful on the platform of further inclusion of Anagonia's many minority peoples, including those of his ancestral heritage. Citing the many differences in not only advantages but also those of opportunities, Mileethus has constantly promised that if he were elected President he would further endeavor to solidify the promises of the constitution and extend government support for minorities in the nation.

Political Affiliation:
Mileethus is stated to be affiliated with the Libertarian Party of Anagonia.

2. The Confederate National Party Candidate
Name:
Franklin Shane Johnson
Race:
Human
Age:
45
Birthplace:
City of Pinemoor, State of Liberty, CSA
Married To:
Unmarried

Brief Biography:
Franklin Shane Johnson was born to Douglas Cordell and Brenda Cathryn Johnson in 59 AUR (1985 AD) in the (at that time) quaint town of Pinemoor. Franklins parents were farmers, producing a majority of the regions dairy exports to other states and hiring most of the local available hands for their business. It was here that Franklin would start his education in the value of hard work and dedication, having a strict schedule of going to school during the day and helping the farm in the evenings, eventually building up for himself a sizable amount of private wealth. As his parents began to expand their business across the Sovereign Republic of Liberty, Franklin would voluntarily enter his mandatory period for military service early at age 16 where he would sign up for the Confederate States Military Police after basic training.

By age 18, Franklin had shown an aptitude for command and control and was given the responsibility of patrolling long stretches of Interstate 4 and Interstate 1, followed by a promotion to Deputy Sheriff at age 19 where he chose to patrol in the region around his hometown of Pinemoor - now a bustling city. A year later he would make Sheriff where he would spend the remainder of his military career patrolling the county holding Pinemoor and adjacent areas, before retiring at age 22 into local politics. With his military service backing his experience, Franklin was quick to rise in the political ranks, and by the age of 28 he would make Representative within the State of Liberty. It was here that he would come across his Future Vice President, Edmond Fitzgerald Goff, and the two would continue a healthy political acquaintanceship well up and into Franklins successful bid for President of the Confederate States in 99 AUR (2025 AD).

Franklin Johnson currently lives in the national capital of Liberty, within the Confederate White House, though retains an original residence in his hometown of Pinemoor. He is the current President of the Confederate States.

Political Ambitions:
Franklin Johnson has always strived to preserve and protect the member-states and their ability to govern themselves through the lawful use of the Supreme Court and lower courts. Part of the motto of the Confederate National Party is that when a government allows its members to govern themselves, it permits the government less complications. This has, effectively, been proven quite true through his term as President of the Confederate States. Now coming up to the election year, Franklin intends keeping his Vice President and running for a second term. Failing a successful bid for President, Franklin will likely either retire from Politics or accept Edmond Goff's offer to be his Vice President should his bid for President succeed.

Political Affiliation:
Franklin is stated to be affiliated with the Confederate National Party of Anagonia.

3. The Fascist Party Candidate
Name:
Edmond Fitzgerald Goff
Race:
Human
Age:
65
Birthplace:
Town of Westhaven, State of Lexington, CSA
Married To:
Valentina Kott Goff

Brief Biography:
Edmond Fitzgerald Goff was born to an immigrant family in 39 AUR (1965 AD) in the secluded town of Westhaven. Growing up poor, Edmond's parents barely had enough money to support his early education. As such, when he turned 16, Edmond voluntarily joined the Confederate States Marine Corps as an early mandatory. There, following the rigorous boot camp experience, he would be fully enlisted with a sense of a secured future. Six years later in 61 AUR (1987 AD) at the age of 22 Edmond would retire from his service, having served in multiple engagements and skirmishes across areas of Confederate interest. He would later enter the arena of Politics, running for and being elected to a senate seat in the Commonwealth of Lexington. He would spend an additional four years serving as Senator before being elected to the Grand Senate of the Confederacy to represent his home-states interests to the government.

Edmond would spent the majority of his early career in the Grand Senate of the Confederacy before spending five years as an Elected Vice President under the 10th President of the Confederacy, President Darrell Farmer. It was here that he would meet his future wife, Valentina Kott Augustine. After Darrell's defeat to Von Huey Cunningham in 70 AUR (1996 AD), Edmond returned to his Grand Senate seat and married Valentina. Following this, he would eventually meet his future acquaintance and Presidential running-mate, Franklin Shane Johnson, in 87 AUR (2013 AD) during a joint-visit between delegations of the Commonwealth of Lexington and the Sovereign Republic of Liberty. Later, Edmond would be asked and accept a request from Franklin to be his Vice Presidential running-mate, and the two would succeed in their bid for the Office of the President and Vice President in 99 AUR (2025 AD).

Edmond Fitzgerald Goff currently lives in the national capital of Liberty, within the Confederate White House and owns an apartment in the same city. He is the current Vice President of the Confederate States.

Political Ambitions:
Edmond's political ambitions have always been far more stern than those of his President, Franklin Johnson. At one point in his career, Edmond affiliated with the Federalist Party due to their belief in a more centralized government. However it wasn't until his further experience in the Grand Senate that Edmond became acquainted with Hanno Outman, who once led the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia. At the time of their meeting, the Fascist Party was in complete disarray and directionless. Within a short time of cooperating with Hanno, Edmond would help restructure the Fascist Party into one with a clear vision and direction; to further centralize government authority and ensure fairness through that authority of the people and member-states and to further provide a stronger military presence across the globe.

After Hanno Outman passed away in 85 AUR (2011 AD), Edmond became the defacto leader of the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia. He would continue his vision and gain further popularity for the Party across the nation. It is through this clear vision that Edmond plans to bring his party's ideals to the Presidency of the Confederacy. He has already offered Franklin to be his Vice President should Edmond win the bid, and retains his place as Vice President should Franklin win.

Political Affiliation:
Edmond is stated to be affiliated with the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia.

4. The Socialist Party Candidate
Name:
Octavia Morillo
Race:
Human
Age:
36
Birthplace:
City of Sleethill, State of Saratoga, CSA
Married To:
Lorenzo Morillo

Brief Biography:
Octavia Morillo is a 36-year-old Grand Senator who enjoys writing, jigsaw puzzles and bird watching. She is inspiring and creative to her compatriots, but can also be very sneaky and a bit unkind to those she doesn't know. She has had three affairs so far. Most recently she cheated on a late boyfriend, Alexander, with a 35-year-old Secretary by the name of Ricardo Murphy. She is currently in a relationship with Jessie Levi Patel following a course of relationship counseling. Jessie is 6 years older than her and works as a journalist for the Liberty Constitutional.

Octavia has a post-graduate degree in philosophy, politics and economics and utilizes her education quite often in her profession. She is a vegetarian. Her political views within the Socialist Party of Anagonia have helped form her opinions of what society could best benefit from, especially considering what she defines as "too many differences and too little commonalities". Her time in the Confederate Military as a mandatory was short, and she often criticizes the military for its policies in regards to instituting what she terms as, "forced indoctrination".

Physically, Octavia is in pretty good shape. She is tall with bronze skin, brown hair and blue eyes. She has a mole on her right cheek. She grew up in an upper class neighborhood. She was raised in a happy family home with two loving parents.

Octavia is closely associated with a Grand Senator named Ira Washington, where both can often be found furthering the manifesto of the Party.

Political Ambitions:
Octavia Morillo believes that the State - be it the sovereign and independent member-state or the Confederal apparatus - should provide for the poor and needy as well as the disadvantaged. She plans on furthering the ideals of the Socialist Party of Anagonia by instituting further welfare programs, as well as changing the ideals of the education system to assist with disadvantaged youth. Ultimately her ambitions, if elected, are to bring a more over-arching government that, in her opinion, provides more for the people. Her intentions are to divert funding from the military industrial complex into more welfare programs.

Political Affiliation:
Octavia is stated to be affiliated with the Socialist Party of Anagonia.

5. The Federalist Party Candidate
Name:
Gary Hicks
Race:
Human
Age:
43
Birthplace:
Town of Dragonhaven, State of Imperius, CSA
Married To:
Herbert Gordon Hicks

Brief Biography:
Gary Hicks is a 43-year-old Grand Senator who enjoys glamping, badminton and baking. He is energetic and giving, but can also be very boring and a bit apathetic. He defines himself as gay. He has a post-graduate degree in philosophy, politics and economics. He is obsessed with manufacturing and the methodology of supply and demand. Physically, Gary is in pretty good shape. He is average-height with bronze skin, ginger hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo of a waterfall on his lower back.

He grew up in a middle class neighborhood. He was raised in a happy family home with two semi-loving parents who were often not around due to providing for the family. He is currently in a relationship with Herbert Gordon Bradley. Herbert is the same age as him and works as a scientist for a local pharmaceutical company. They met during their time in mandatory service in the Confederate States Air Force. Both Gary and Herbert spent eight years in the service, where after Gary would enter politics and Herbert would continue his education that would eventually land him his job.

Gary has one child with his boyfriend Herbert: Briony Hicks, aged 2.

Political Ambitions:
Gary Hicks believes in a more federalized Confederacy, wherein the states are reigned in to better control the economic conditions of the country. One of the more prominent advocates for the Federalist Party, Gary intends to institute further reforms that would provide the necessary power for the Presidency and the Government to provide for the people and economy.

Political Affiliation:
Gary is stated to be affiliated with the Federalist Party of Anagonia.

ANAGONIAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: PRESIDENT JOHNSON FIGHTS FOR RE-ELECTION
In the homestretch of the election as voters prepare to decide, the President hopes an image of vitality and stability will carry him to victory

PRESIDENT Franklin Johnson and his campaign team were out executing a tour-de-force today as they made several campaign stops during what is proving to be a nail-biting homestretch of the Anagonian Presidential Election. They hope to secure President Johnson and his Confederate National Party a second five-year term at the helm of the Confederate States, after what by all accounts would be regarded as a relatively stable and prosperous term. The overwhelming consensus amongst voters, however, seems to be that this election is more a battle of motivations and aspirations rather than anything outright political or policy-driven. Not about where the Confederate States is right now, but where it is going. So the huge, multi-trillion Denar question for President Johnson is whether he can stave off the competition of candidates who symbolise -- if not outright propose -- radical change in favour of his much more traditional and laissez-faire approach to governance. The answer? Possibly, though it's looking to be a close one.

Of course, one would not be able to tell that by the way the President carried himself today, shaking the hands of eager party supporters and citizens who turned out in their droves to see him during his stops across the key battleground states of the Republic of Arkansis and Commonwealth of Lexington. Sporting a rather rogue-ish charm, the single forty-five year old statesman carried the vigour of a man still in his prime as he stopped to take selfies, sign campaign merchandise, and answer burning questions. It's this rather youthful visage that his campaign managers hope will help maintain if not grow his lead amongst the growing youth electorate in the Confederacy, while at the same time reassure his traditional base that he is still full of the energy that got him elected five years prior. Based on the reactions they've been getting on the road, they have reason to be hopeful. During a town hall in the city of Small Rock in Arkansis, the President traded warm banter with the assembled capacity crowd while also answering their questions in a cool, reassuring tone of voice. If there's one thing to be certain of in this election, it's that President Johnson certainly has the charisma to win over the room. But will it be enough?

Polls are suggesting it might, though there's plenty of opportunity for an upset. Namely, that in the form of Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus of the Grand Republic of Orgath, who the Libertarian Party of Anagonia is hopeful can carry them back to the Presidency after a long absence. Grand Senator Canisilus, who is Native Komodren -- a small but protected reptilian humanoid minority of the Confederacy's citizens -- has turned out huge crowds and received massive online engagement since winning the candidacy of the Libertarian Party. He symbolises the promise of perhaps becoming the first non-human President of the Confederate States, and his campaign has been built upon this image of change and new opportunity for the Confederacy's minorities. This has brought him both affection and scorn, which all in their own way have helped to boost his profile. His performance in the Libertarian Party primaries brought him significant attention too, fending off attacks from both within and outside his own party. There's definitely an electricity around him that's hard to deny, even from his opposition: the Confederate Nationals -- sometimes seen as the begrudged older sibling of the Libertarian Party -- can't help but both envy and respect the Komodren as he is hot on the heels of the President in most constituencies, if not overtaking him. The biggest challenge for Grand Senator Canisilus is whether he can energise his own party's base as well as the broader population, and maintain the votes as well as carry the ones he needs for victory.

The answer, and the fate of both the Confederate Nationals and Libertarians performance, may well reside within the hands of this years dark horse: Vice-President Edmond Fitzgerald Goff, who is running as a candidate for the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia. Having been in a working relationship with the Confederate Nationals for the previous five years, the senior Vice-President is looking to step outside of President Johnson's shadow, and seems to have seized upon the fears of a small but sizeable number of voters who are alarmed by the sudden rise of a non-human candidate in the form of Grand Senator Canisilus. Add this on top of the growing alarm within the Confederacy about the state of security within Gholgoth has provided the Fascists with an ample opportunity to push their message of beefier security and a much more central, almost unabashedly authoritarian governing style. While the Confederate White House has worked hard to maintain an image of friendliness between both President Johnson and Vice-President Goff, some on both sides now openly wonder whether their political marriage five years ago was a mistake, and whether it hurts both of their chances in this upcoming election. That will all very much depend on how well the Fascist Party can do outside of it's southern strongholds, or conversely how much of the Confederate Nationals vote is eroded by the Libertarians.

A private poll commissioned by the Krytopia Evening Review indicates that the large Kylarnatian minority that resides within the Confederate States is overwhelmingly in favour of President Johnson and the Confederate Nationalists (by a margin of >85%), with their second-preference being the outlying Grand Senator Gary Hicks and the Federalist Party of Anagonia, who like the Libertarians have been relegated from the Presidency for quite some time but look far less likely to secure it in this race, though Hicks campaign seems more geared towards forwarding the Federalist message. Their overwhelming support for Johnson is believed to stem from the recent interactions and statements he has put out in favour of the Caesar, following the events of ULE City in Automagfreek. The Fangthane Palace has said it is monitoring the election, and wishes all candidates luck and the citizens of Anagonia a peaceful and prosperous election cycle. The political campaign for the Presidency of the Confederate States hit a new high this week. Early last month I released a report on my attached assignments with all four political candidates as they went on their campaign trails across Anagonia. Each candidate graciously gave me a few days to experience a "day in the life" as they went about their morning, noon, and evening routines. It was an enlightening experience to share with my readers and one I hope to continue with in the future and I graciously thank all four candidates for allowing The Liberty Gazette and myself to tag along with them. Thanks to this shared experience, our readers have been better informed about the lifestyles and viewpoints of their particular candidates, and it is my humble opinion that this news has solidified a lot of positions during that time.

Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus in a roundtable Q&A in Atlantica, State of Saratoga, at the end of last month

Evidence for this hypothesis can be supported by the sudden rise in popularity for a particular underdog of the campaign trail, one who hadn't been anticipated to ever run for President let alone try for the effort. Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus of Hiberton, State of Orgath, a pure underdog and wildcard of this election due to his relative unknown nature prior to the start of the Presidential Campaign, has gained a surprising lead in national polls over the last few weeks. Readers will remember my piece on the Grand Senator, where he took me with his wife Auristi on several townhall and roundtable discussions, and how genuine and sincere he appeared to came across in his political viewpoints. I even remarked on how well his charisma flourished in the crowds and how even the most staunch face in that crowd seemed to gain an appraising perspective.

As I reported in that piece, following one townhall I gained a chance to interview a few of the participants. Out of the most staunchly opposed of those I managed to interview, over three-quarters reported that their perspective changed following the townhall question and answer sessions. When I asked why, I was met with a variety of answers, much of which would be repeated over the other times I would repeat my interviews. The majority of the answers, I found, was that of the genuine sense of care and honesty the Native Komodren had not only for those asking the questions, but also for how he came across in answering them. As one of the interviewed reported in my last report, "He's noticing the hidden issues that make this Confederacy fragile, he's pointing them out, and he's also providing a solution. I like that".

Some political analysts have remarked that the Grand Senator's rise resembles that of President Johnson's not but five years prior. When asked about this, Grand Senator Canisilus remarked, "While I am pleased to be compared to someone as great as President Johnson, I cannot accept the compliment. The President has done an outstanding job at securing our countries future. If he is reelected, he will undoubtedly continue such. If I am elected, I will do my best to uphold the successes he gave our great nation".

Vice-President Edmond Goff answering questions earlier this week in Fort Rufall, State of Lexington

In contrast, one of the most popular picks for President has turned out to be a near flop in recent polls. Vice-President Edmond Goff, who has had a rich history in politics including being a Vice President under the 10th President, Darrell Farmer, seems to be struggling against the successful approaches presented by both President Johnson and Grand Senator Canisilus. In a surprising twist, much of Edmond's campaign appearances had found a home on the Anagonian internets meme culture. His stern expressions and assured answers, which in years past would have provided enough of a answer for the most inquisitive and politically active Confederate, are now being seen as outdated and almost insulting to the present youth and culture in Anagonia today. He has, however, gained a die-hard following amongst societies most opinionated and traditional, including a majority of proclaimed human and race supremacy groups. It is believe that with this rising support among our societies most opinionated and separated, that the rest of the voting base is losing faith and trust in the promised vision that Edmond and his Fascist Party promise to provide. At the very least, Vice-President Goff has provided a plethora of unintentional humor to an otherwise uneventful Presidential race.

When asked about the meme culture that has arisen around him, Vice President Goff said, "This country was founded on the freedom of our citizens to express themselves. It is not my right, nor anyone's right, to take that away. I entered politics, therefore I take the consequence of that, good or bad".

Regardless of the ultimate outcome of this election, it is very clear that Vice President Goff represents a long history of professional political activity and involvement. He has not only seemingly embraced the freedom of expression concerning those who support and oppose him, he seems not phased by it. That, in itself, deserves some recognition and merit in my opinion.

President Franklin Johnson on the talk show Liberty Tonight last Sunday as he began answering viewers questions. Liberty City, State of Liberty.

One of the most steady picks continues to be the current President himself, Franklin Johnson. Five years ago he was picked because of his promise for a peaceful and stable "Confederal Union". He had marched his campaign on the belief that the states deserved their status as independent nations and furthermore deserved their place within our Confederate States. His voice was a deeply needed one in a time of insecurity and strife, with multiple issues all brought on by President Clifton Rosales and her inability to control the Confederate apparatus. Though voters were unsure of the outcome should they choose another wildcard like President Rosales turned out, they wanted change. They were given it, and more, through what historians are calling one of the most stable periods of growth in Anagonian history.

President Johnson's efforts on rebuilding the unity between the states and the national economy have not gone unnoticed. Polls already indicate his lead is extremely tight with that of Grand Senator Canisilus, and it is very likely to continue to be so until the end. During an impromptu question and answer session on Liberty Tonight last Sunday, President Johnson was asked what he would do if he lost the upcoming election. "I'd retire," he was quoted as saying. When asked if he'd accept being a Vice President, he said, "I'd be honored to continue the tradition that Tiberius started, but I'd also have to consider if it was right for me and the nation". A hot button topic was asked about his relationship with Edmond and their political rivalry, to which Franklin answered, "Vice President Goff is a very reliable and intelligent man. If he beat me in an election I would be honored if it was him."

Ever the playboy, President Johnson maintains his momentum as of this release.

Grand Senator Octavia Morillo in her townhall meeting last Wednesday in Plymouth City, State of Plymouth.

Grand Senator Octavia Morillo represents a departure from the norm in reference to the candidates I've remarked on thus far. She is a relative newcomer to politics and has a bold assertion to her opinions, much like those of Vice President Goff's. It is possibly why, therefore, that she maintains a steady lead alongside the Vice President in polls so far, yet her vision of Anagonia's future is far different than Vice President Goff or even that of President Johnson. Grand Senator Morillo represents what is considered to be a large portion of the country-side, that of the poor and impoverished, those most in need of government assistance. Ever since President Rudolf Jarod Hart took office in 55 AUR, most of the welfare programs in the majority of the nations administration budget had been nonexistent. True that President Valentine Shields brought back some of that - if what she did could even be considered for the peoples interest in restoring the Confederate Government to full functionality - but it wasn't until President Vito Boone took office that the structure of what Anagonia is today was formed.

Thanks to President Boone, we were brought a structured organization of government assistance for the poor and needy in the form of the Confederate Welfare Initiative. When President Johnson took office, he immediately reformed the Confederate Welfare Initiative to be more productive, cost effective, and have a clearer function to provide necessary supplies and Denars to those most in need, undoubtedly one of the reasons he's so popular. Grand Senator Morillo is running on a platform to not only improve further on what President Boone and Johnson have done, but also to completely restructure the government to support that initiative and to take away from what she terms as, "Dirty Rich People". Not surprisingly she hasn't been popular amongst Anagonia's rich and wealthy, but that message has not been lost on those most in need.

I think what best sums up her campaign came from her question and answer session last Wednesday in Plymouth City. She remarked, "The Bourgeoisie have undertaken themselves an objective to strain the proletariat, and I shall if elected redistribute that wealth back to the proletariat where it belongs. No other option is acceptable!".

Image
Grand Senator Gary Hicks speaking to a crowd outside an event on Tuesday in Small Rock, State of Arkansis.

Grand Senator Gary Hicks has, in contrast to the rest, maintained an almost nonexistent lead in the polls. Not since the passing of President Forest Holloway in 53 AUR has the Federalist Party won the bid for the Presidency. Their platform has remained consistent, advocating for the states to have a more uniform code of standards and the constitution to have more authority over the matters of our Confederacy. It is unsurprising then that the majority of the efforts from the Federalist Party end up being in the campaigns of Grand Senators, Grand Representatives, and a few Vice Presidents. Grand Senator Hicks represents that same vision and he speaks of such, speaking of times when the country was more of a Union than a loose Confederation of States, and speaks of how the laws could best benefit our society. To most, this ideal and vision is a pipedream.

Yet not all the Federalist Party provides is a pipedream. If it weren't for Federalists like Grand Senator Hicks, we wouldn't have a stable state-to-state national economy that we do now. Our structure of supply and demand would possibly be drastically different. Our military would likely have not prioritized the defense of trade as a top priority for national interests. They have, over the years, provided some excellent economic solutions. But it is agreed that insofar as society is concerned, they provide in my humble opinion little to no context on any such solution.

When asked if he was elected President would he destroy our current national framework, the Grand Senator remarked, "Becoming a federalized entity takes time. If I were elected, I'd start that process, but not before considering if that process was even effective. We need to think of our future first, as the constitution states. Still, it can all be improved to better our economy".

I would like to think that this says it all about Grand Senator Hicks.

One of the Libraries in Liberty City as a state-registered voting location, circa 100 AUR. Liberty City, State of Liberty

In the end, voters will decide who shall best lead our great nation. I find it satisfying to know that my contributions to society are providing insight and opinions that help others make rational and educated decisions. That decision can either become good or bad. Ultimately it is us, as citizens of this country, as warriors who have held the mantle of defending that country, to decide how best the future should be for our children. Each candidate represents an ideal, a solution we all believe and think will lead to greater solutions and greater success. Sometimes even the best willed candidate, with the best intentions, with the best vision, still fails horribly. I remind our readers of President Rudolf Jarod Hart and how he almost brought this very Confederation of States to the brink of destruction. Let us, therefore, all be mindful of our decisions.

My next issue will deal with the personal drama and circumstances I experienced during my tour with the politicians, to give an extra personal view in their lives. I hope that you will continue to choose us as your reliable internet-based news source, and continue to support us for future journalism.

Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus made a stop in Olnvale City for a town hall meeting with voters today. The majority of his support, unsurprisingly, comes from the state of his birth. The Grand Republic of Orgath has traditionally backed the Libertarian Party in almost every Presidential election and has shown a majority support in generally every General Election of the Grand Congress. Last year, Orgath played a key role in electing more Libertarian politicians into the Grand Congress than has been seen in over forty years. It is this unanimous show of support for the Libertarian Party and its ideals that is believed to have skyrocketed Grand Senator Canisilus into national and, more recently, international spotlight.

The Olnvale Chronicle, located on West Brown Street in downtown Olnvale, was recently visited by the Grand Senator as he made his rounds. It was an unscheduled but not unwelcomed visitation. I was present at the time of his arrival and was tasked with providing an interview for our readers to examine. The Grand Senator and I had a pleasant first meeting shortly after he arrived on April 5th, around 1830 in the afternoon. Most of the staff had already went home for the evening and luckily I had been assigned overnight duty for our digital department. James Ritchchild, whom regular readers may know from our articles on Agricultural Daily and Big Game Weekly, was the manager on duty and gave me permission to go forward with the interview.

After sharing an evening coffee, the Grand Senator and I would sit down in one of our interview boxes usually reserved for our online podcasters. The area was clean and presentable, with most of the usual affects of those who occupied it stored away for the evening. James provided refreshments for us as we introduced ourselves more formally. The Grand Senator looked extremely well-kept and presentable, his scales had a shine to them but it was clear by the way his eyes looked that he had endured much through the day and was possibly tired. His body motions were slow and relaxed, showing no sign of agitation or nervousness. He wore at the time of the interview a two piece business suit, custom fitted for his species, blue in coloration with an Anagonian Flag pin on the right collar. The interview began at 1922 that evening.

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Grand Senator Canisilus! It's a pleasant surprise to have you with us this evening. Thank you for allowing this interview and for me to write down what we share."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Pleasure is all mine, Ms. Wilkinson. And please, just Mr. Canisilus. No need for formalities right now."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Alright, Mr. Canisilus. If I may I'll start a few questions if you don't mind?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Please! Please. Go ahead."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you. I think the first question on everyones mind this evening is....'why here'? What brought you here tonight?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Right. I was in town. That's an honest answer. I was at a town hall in the Olnvale Central Library. Just finished some very insightful question and answers with the citizens and, deciding on a detour, came here. I remembered the manager here, a Mr. Richardson if I recall, had placed an invite for me a week ago. I figured tonight would be a great time to take that up."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Jacky Richardson?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Yep, that's him! We go a bit of a ways back, Jack and I. He knew me at the start of my political career. I always intended to repay him for that dinner out that one time but never got the chance."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"I think then you'll be pleased to know that Mr. Richardson has been promoted, less than half a year ago in fact. He's now our CEO."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Oh is he now? Fantastic, the gentleman deserves every bit of that. Would you be so kind as to let him know I stopped by?"

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Absolutely, Mr. Canisilus! Onto the next question. What is your take on the interesting political dynamic that formed between President Johnson and Vice President Goff five years ago? For context, some political analysts have been parroting that it was a disaster in the making, yet evidence suggests the two parties have coordinated and worked in tandem to bring Anagonia into its recent era of peace and stability. What is your take on that?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"That's a hard hitting one! I like it. Uhm... The best way I can answer that is from my own perspective. Back when President Johnson was elected and he, as I recall, asked Mr. Goff into his government, I had barely managed to be elected as Grand Senator for Orgath. Farthest thing from my mind was anything to do with the Presidency, more to do with gaining my next paycheck. You know how strict the laws are for representatives. Either you produce or you go broke! Anyway, what I do recall thinking was how odd it seemed. On the outside, the Fascist Party wants nothing to do with the Confederate Nationals. Historically the two worked together in the past, as I recall, and that was the reason Von Huey Cunningham was elected if I recall?"

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"You are correct on that one, Mr. Canisilus."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Right, so, that's what I remember thinking. But it was my mate, Auristi - she's sleeping in the bus right now, poor thing - that put it into perspective to me. I asked her, 'Risti, how does this work?'. She pointed directly at Mr. Goff's political history after looking it up on her tablet, pointed at it and simly said, 'This is how. Read.'. So I did."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"What did you learn after reading what your wife, your mate told you to read?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"I learned what the voters saw. President Johnson had already stated who he intended to pick and that could have killed his Presidency had it been a horrible choice. But it wasn't. Vice President Goff is an experienced politician, one of the most experienced still alive today. Out of everyone presentable by any party in that election, he was the logical choice. And it shows, has shown, how his methods for rebuilding the military, strengthen trade, and suggestions for administrative improvement have helped bolster the Johnson Presidency. I have the highest respects for both President Johnson and Vice President Goff. They are some very talented individuals and politicians."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Interesting. Next question, then. Your running on a platform for equality for minorities and the less impoverished. Your critics have stated in interviews with this outlet as well as others that you're essentially going against your parties ideals, that you're really a closet-supporter of the Socialist Party. How do you respond to this?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Hah! Yes, I have heard this one. There were a few individuals whom I know who told me this personally. I think I know of who you speak, but I digress. No, I am not a socialist. I am a Libertarian, through and through. I believe what any Libertarian believes: The less government interference we have, and the more well armed each citizen is, the better our society can function. But what I also believe is that the government can function to support society also. Coming from the background I do, I got to witness firsthand the treatment that non-humans get in Anagonian society. We are essentially outcasts looking for an 'in', as it were. I think personally the only reason I am where I am is because of my human parents who adopted me. My actual Komodren parents abandoned me, which in itself shows the horrible state of affairs in that part of our society.

I think that with more incentives by the Confederal Government, we can help identify and combat the main issues that hold back our non-human citizens. I know I personally receive emails daily from such individuals thanking me for what I'm doing, and it bolsters me, it truly does. It reminds me what I'm fighting for here. You know, I was in a heated debate with one of my peers a few nights ago about this very subject and they claimed I was threatening the Anagonian way of life by changing things to better a part of society best left alone. True, the non-human reservations were not started by the Confederacy. They were started by the communities of non-humans themselves who sought isolation. But this isolation has had a detrimental effect, not a positive one, in that the more they sought to exclude themselves the more animosity grew between non-humans and humans. It shouldn't be that way, especially for the youth of non-human communities who want to seek a better life. It shouldn't be that way that they're forced into a hard time simply because of who they are or where they're from. They should be afforded the same efforts as human citizens, in my opinion."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"And you believe this perspective fits with the Libertarian perspective?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Yes, I do. I do entirely. I believe that Libertarianism as it exists in Anagonia exists as a supporter of our constitution. We are the party of Constitutionalists. We are the party that Tiberius Samsus himself identified with. Our Founding Father may have started the Confederate National Party - who are themselves some excellent and fine people who advocate for most of what I believe in - but he stuck with us. He believed we exemplified the best notions of freedoms and liberties afforded to a common citizen. That includes what is stated directly in the beginning of our Constitution.

'...That this Republic, henceforth formed, shall strive for the Freedom of the People and Liberty for all sapient life".

You know the story behind that line, right? The Documentary some thirty years ago by Edgar Willter, right?"

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"The one titled, 'Hidden Branches of the Tree of Liberty', right?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"That's the one. In it, as you may remember, Edgar argues that Tiberius purposefully placed that line after his interactions with the non-human communities. He wrote with the help of those leaders the Treaty of Exclusive Species and Communities, where it provides the exclusive protections. He wanted everyway in his power to unite this country during a turbulent time. He even wrote that single line in our Constitution to cement that permanently. I believe firmly that we, as the party of Tiberius, should continue that goal by sharing this right to liberty and happiness enshrined in our most sacred of documents and cementing it permanently for future citizens. We have to make it accessible that these communities have a way to grow, to exist and coexist in our future as Confederates, not to be excluded."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"What if the communities don't want your advocacy of them?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"I've had this one charged against me too. The thing is, these non-human communes are dying. They have been for the last twenty years now. Ever since President Vito Boone founded the Confederate Welfare Initiative, non-humans have been taking up its promise of assistance with assimilation in droves. When President Johnson reformed it to be better prepared for future costs and to be more effective, thousands and hundreds of thousands more applied and were accepted. What we are seeing right now is the most drastic manner of voluntary assimilation any society has ever seen, I believe. Voluntary assimilation! They want to be Anagonians! They want to be Confederates! I want to make sure, if I'm elected, that not only is that pathway kept open, but that their protections are extended and made available. I don't want to take liberties from anyone else. I want to provide liberties for those less fortunate. That's the majority of what I want to do."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you for clarifying that position, Mr. Canisilus. Do you have time for a final question?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Of course! Please. I intended to stay an hour anyway. It's what, a little over fifteen minutes after an hour? Not a problem at all."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you, Mr. Canisilus. This one has been circulating recently. A lot of the other traditionalist party members in the Grand Congress have expressed their views already on this, some opposed and some for. What is your position on intermarriage between human and non-human Anagonians?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Haha! For a moment there I thought you were gonna ask about my opinions of religion. No, that ones easy. My parents were human. They adopted me, a Native Komodren hatchling, into their home. I am a firm believer that we as citizens should be entitled and given the right to choose who we are happiest with, be they human or non-human. The government has no right of say in this. Period. We are an inclusive society, moreso identified as such under President Johnsons term than any other. We've established support for LGBTQ citizens, we've extended the CWI to support operations for gender changes, and we've also provided support for further counseling and education on these communities for the common citizen. We instituted new laws for restrooms across the country to be Unisex and further inclusive to those members of our society. We even allowed ploygamy as a show of support for many religious communities!

Ultimately we as Anagonians shown that, after these acts and laws were placed, that we identified these facets of our lives as normal, traditional, and always existing. We saw our fellow citizens struggling and supported them. We supported these laws overwhelmingly. I believe it was found that even in the most die-hard traditionalist strongholds of the Fascist Party, that the majority of voters voted fore these laws. I think that's because we, as a society, understand that each individual is entitled to their own unique version of happiness and the pursuit thereof. The government nor any religious institution has no right in a say in that, unless that citizen voluntarily places themselves under that restriction. The government instead must support that citizen, to encourage them to be happy, to encourage them to be the best they can be. There's obviously an economic benefit to that, taxes and all, but also a benefit of that citizen not becoming disgruntled with the government and rising against it.

So we as Anagonians saw that, we saw our own people suffering, and we fixed it. If a citizen wants to marry a non-human citizen or a non-human wants to marry a human, that should be a part of our pursuit of happiness. No one should be against that, not after all we supported over these last twenty years. I know I don't. I just happened to find another Komodren as my mate, the most beautiful and intelligent female I've ever had the pleasure and honor of being with. And that's okay too, it should be okay, because it should be normal that we get to choose what is right for all of us. Because I'm happy and everyone should be allowed to be happy too."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you, Mr. Canisilus. This has been truly an honor to interview you. I wish you the best of luck in the polls come election."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"You're very welcome Ms. Wilkinson. I hope to return soon!"

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Maybe with a bit more heads up? Haha!"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Haha! I'll consider it!"

Following the formal interview with Grand Senator Canisilus, we were provided a short fifteen minutes where Mr. Canisilus greeted each person individually within our building. We have a few more conversations together, all informal, and then the Grand Senator was off. It was a pleasant time and I found myself gaining a new perspective of respect for Mr. Canisilus. I found his opinions to be personal, but well founded. His voice was soft, even for a Komodren, with little to no agitation in it. Even during the most hard-hitting questions he seemed relaxed and well prepared, though I admit I caught him by surprise once or twice. One of the questions I forgot to ask the Grand Senator is something that has been asked many times since his photo-shoot with other political opponents. That of, "Why doesn't he wear shoes?".

I can say that after meeting Mr. Canisilus, shoes would likely detract from his overall character. He seemed perfectly fine without them, with well manicured toe-claws, and a well prepared appearance. I find that, as far as my own personal opinion stands, the Grand Senator is fine just the way he is. Don't ever change, Mr. Canisilus! We'll gladly welcome you for another surprise visit the next time you're in town.

Vice President Edmond Fitzgerald Goff has made a surprising resurgence in the polls overnight Monday. What has been an already surprising Campaign Season, what with the Libertarian Parties partial dominance in the Grand House and majority standing in the Grand Senate, political analysts across the board were not surprised with the rise of Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus as the presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party. It was, in fact, predicted that Grand Senator Canisilus would rise to the occasion and dominate the early polls. What was not predicted was how fast this rise in the polls would quickly diminish, especially compared to the typically unpopular Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia as its favored pick rose to equal and surpass the Libertarian Presidential Candidate.

Image
Vice President Goff departing his Campaign Headquarters Monday Night following the news of his rise in early polls. Liberty City, State of Liberty.

When asked for comment on a phone interview on early Tuesday morning, Vice President Goff remarked about the situation, "It's a very exciting time for our campaign. I believe that our message of security and national stability is reaching the right audience. I know my experience will continue to bolster this campaign and I look forward to a cooperative challenge with my fellow candidates for President".

Recently, the Fascist Party has come under heavy fire from international sources concerning its ideology and political take on the future of Anagonia. While internal opinions do not come close to the perspectives of their international counterparts, many of those challenging the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia claimed they were akin to the "Nazi Party of old Germany". Obviously many members and voters took offense to this challenge and accusation on Monday morning, and by Monday night this question had become a center point of the political campaign. Vice President Goff had his own remarks concerning this on his phone interview Tuesday morning.

"I don't believe for a second that the real Anagonian," the Vice President stated to Atlantica Weekly Tuesday morning, "hard working citizens thinks of us as the bad guy. We get called National Socialists - and that other no-no word - all the time by outsiders, immigrants, and other illegal citizens. But the real citizen of Anagonia knows we're not. We've nothing to do with them. We are the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia and represent a vision of a stronger and more secure Confederacy. We're not here to take liberties away, we exist to defend them in any way possible. That is our position, and I think I know my work as Vice President under the remarkable and intelligent President Johnson has demonstrated my position very clearly and how well it works".

Image
Lt. General Richard Bankard, Confederate States Marine Corps, commenting on Vice President Goff early Monday Morning on Liberty City Daily

His efforts have borne fruit many times over, according to Senior Military Analysts. One such advocate for the Vice President is Lt. General Bankard of CSMC. He stated in a televised interview Monday Morning on Liberty City Daily that, "Vice President Goff has been a stern ally of the Confederate States Military", and that, "Without his direction on proper budgeting and allocation of resources, our ability to defend trade would be incomparable to what it is now. We have him and President Johnson to thank for that".

It should be noted that President Johnson and Vice President Goff have had a very close, very professional working relationship since the Johnson Presidency began five years ago. In all of Confederate history, only twice has the Fascist Party and the Confederate National Party worked as closely as these two have during the Johnson Presidential Term. Many analysts believe that the Vice President used this opportunity to forward his chances for the 104 Presidential Election. President Johnson, when asked about this, had his own take on it.

"I don't believe for a second that Mr. Goff used our Presidency for that purpose", President Johnson remarked on a short phone interview Tuesday morning, "It's not unimaginable that the man would use his experience to bolster what he believes to be a step up, like any of us would. I will never fault for him for that. I think he'd make a fine President, if elected. He's extremely experienced, which I personally hope to be as experienced as him one day myself".

In the end, the people have stated their opinions in early poll results. Grand Senator Canisilus is now nipping the heels of Vice President Goff, where a few days before it had been almost hopeless for the Fascist Party Candidate. When asked about these new results, Grand Senator Canisilus remarked in a brief phone interview Tuesday morning that, "I'm very happy for Mr. Goff and wish him the best of luck", and that, "If he wins, he's surely one of the best choices to lead our great country".

Grand Senator Octavia Morillo has made a surprising recovery in the polls over the last 48 hours as the election season progresses. The Grand Senator gave the Pioneer Tribune an opportunity to interview her for our online news service. Following her town hall meeting in Fort Rufall around 0600 Anagonian Eastern Time, she made her way to the offices of the Pioneer Tribune and Company for her scheduled visit, where I met and greeted her personally on her arrival. The Grand Senator presents herself professionally, with a posture about her that reinforces the popular visage of a strong and capable female politician who has no trouble holding her own. After sharing a morning coffee and muffin with the Grand Senator, we proceeded with the interview.

Most of the interview was broadcast early on the Tribune Weekly Podcast as a part of our Patron Member Supported tier, where hundreds of thousands already enjoy the creativity of our podcasters and their content. Much of the hard-hitting and deep questions will be left to the subscriber-based and one-time-pay podcast for listeners enjoyment. One of the questions which will be addressed here is her reaction to the sudden rise in popularity. She had this to say.

"My perspective is that the people, the common citizen matter more than any governing apparatus. I am a socialist, pure and simple, and I believe the government exists to serve the people and to provide them with everything possible for their success. Regardless of how that actually should work or might work, that's my perspective on how it must work. If the government needs to step in and ensure fairness, then it needs to. I believe that the rich should not be richer than the poorest person, and I believe that the rich should pay back their portion to make them equal to the rest. That money can then go to provide for that poor, homeless veteran we always hear about. Provide even for that homeless mother with two kids living in a cardboard box, maybe. I was nominated by the Socialist Party because of these beliefs and I'll be damned if I let some capitalist thug tell me otherwise or what to say or how to believe.

I think that my firmness in this, my honesty in my position, is why the voting base understands me now. They'll keep voting for me, they know me now. Maybe I'll win? I don't know. What I know is that regardless if I am voted into office, I will be pushing for changes. The poor demand recognition and representation, and it must be at the expense of the rich. Someone must provide the money for the poor and we all already know the rich gained their unfair share. So it's them I'll target. The fat cats in those corporations already hate me, but the polls are showing that my message is getting out, so no matter what they do, it doesn't matter anymore. The common citizen knows now.
"

Grand Senator Gary Hicks, at his campaign headquarters in Imperius City
on April 6th in the early morning. Being told of his horrible shortfall in the polls.
Imperius City, State of Imperius.

Grand Senator Gary Hicks is, as of this press release, the official underdog of the Year 104 Elections. There appears to be little hope that his campaign will manage a win compared to the surprising leads that most of the other candidates have had, including those of Grand Senator Octavia Morillo earlier this morning. Heralded as the best offering from the Federalist Party in this Presidential Race and signaled as a bright and intelligent economic mind, the native Imperial from Dragonhaven has met with little to no recognition in national polls. This has not stopped thousands of his supporters sending in their well wishes and continuing their efforts to bolster his campaign.

Image

Outskirts of Imperius City, State of Imperius

Grand Senator Hicks is extremely popular in his home-state of Imperius. Over five thousand supporters managed to come out last Wednesday at his largest campaign rally yet in Imperius City. His message of a more federalized and centralized government for the Confederacy, along with his promise of bigger budgets for the government and military, were received quite well. Yet it appears that despite this reception in his home-state, nationally and internationally his message falls on deaf ears. Some political analysts have predicted that the era of a federalized Anagonia is long over and that any notion of such a concept returning is against the beliefs of the modern generation. This alone can be proved by poll numbers, with the most recent conducted by Pioneer Tribune of Fort Rufall, State of Lexington, provding that a majority of the young voter base between the ages of 20 to 25 have very little sympathy for the Federalist Party in the Presidency. They do, however, seem to appreciate the Federalist Party in matters of state.

Image
Lord Emperor Darius Imperius, speaking in an interview yesterday, April 5th.
Imperius City, State of Imperius

Lord Emperor Darius Imperius, the supreme ruler of the Imperial Empire of Imperius, came out yesterday on April 5th in a show of solidarity and support for Grand Senator Gary Hicks. In a rare interview on the topic of election politics, the Lord Emperor had this to say.

"The right honorable Grand Senator Gary Hicks is a natural born Imperial and by those rights has the full support of my office at his disposal. The Imperial Empire is always honored to allow its citizens to partake in regular elections with the Confederate States and is honored to allow its citizens voices to be heard in choosing a President to lead them. This is also the case as they vote to choose who represents them in both the Grand House and Grand Senate of the Confederate States. If the Grand Senator Gary Hicks, son of my lands, is not voted into office he has, according to his service to my people, exceeded my expectations and can know that a position in the Imperial Court shall remain open to him if he so chooses."

When alerted to words of his Lord Emperor, the Grand Senator remarked that, "I am incredibly honored and will highly consider this offer", but that, "I must see this election through, else my honor would be questioned".

Whatever the outcome of this most recent election cycle, it is very clear that regardless of the support abroad, the Grand Senator has a plethora of support at home. His actions and deeds in representing his people will not be easily forgotten, as represented best by the words of our Lord Emperor. Far be it from me or anyone on our staff to question those words. We wish you the best Grand Senator Hicks.

President Franklin Johnson has had one heck of a election this time around. Five years ago he faced off against what political analysts are calling "similar odds". Back then the biggest opponent he had was President Clifton Rosales, who had a major holding across three states in the Confederacy. But it was his charisma and reassuring nature that ultimately won voters over to President Johnsons side, and would lead to what modern historians term as the most prosperous and stable time in Anagonian history. Few disregard that, fewer still deny that President Johnson is the best President to lead the Confederacy in well over a decade, yet something seems off.

Despite his overwhelming initial lead in the polls, despite his overwhelmingly positive reception over his five-year term, President Johnson appears to be struggling against what many analysts are considering to be run-of-the-mill opponents. The only exception and initial wild-card of the Presidential Campaign was Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus, who as of this publication has an equal and healthy lead to two other Presidential Candidates. Even Grand Senator Octavia Morillo, who was widely considered to be an impossible choice due to her extreme views of governance, has made a surprising comeback just after a few days of national polling. The only Presidential Candidate who didn't surprise analysts in their rise to prominence was Vice President Edmond Goff, mostly due to his experience in the field of politics. Only Grand Senator Gary Hicks, Presidential Candidate for the Federalist Party, remains as anticipated in preliminary polls with less than 2% of national polling approval.

the talk show Landmark This Evening on April 6th.

"Yeah, definitely seems off," the President had remarked on Plymouth City's own Landmark This Evening, a regular evening talk show on Channel 15. President Johnson was attending a pre-planned visit to talk more about his campaign and expectations should we win reelection. "You know, I expected Mr. Goff to have a running start. He's been an awesome Vice President, very dedicated. What I didn't expect was Grand Senator Canisilus to have such a lead - that surprised everyone! Then came along Grand Senator Morillo!"

"I definitely feel bad for Grand Senator Hicks," the President remarked in a question about the Grand Senator. "You know, initial polling is intended as simply a way for a best guess on who will do what. It never typically goes the way you expect, but it's never typically wrong. Usually candidates get a bit more than expected, always a bit more. Mr. Hicks just hasn't, period. It's completely baffling to me especially considering his voter base."

"No, I don't consider voter fraud at all," the President answered to an obvious follow on question. "I think what's happening is the natural inclusion of our youth into politics. Most of these citizens have finished their mandatory four years, maybe even still are in service, and now have the right to vote. They have their own views in what we believe to be more liberal, more libertarian. While Mr. Canisilus was a surprise in the initial polls, he wasn't something that wasn't unexpected specifically because of this societal change. So no, no one running, no amount of support should be a surprise. What should be a surprise is simply how our citizens have changed their perspectives."

Despite his continued statements in remarks to his acceptance of the peoples will and choices in this election, it's clear that as time goes on, the worry is beginning to spread. Just recently President Johnson departed the Liberty Radio Studios in Liberty City after having a deep and heartfelt interview. One of the questions he was asked was concerning the election and what he planned to do should he not be reelected. What had been answered before with more of a jovial response, days before when the polls had him in a modest chance, now seemed somewhat somber and almost a sense of deep sadness.

"At first I convinced myself that retirement was a good thing, you know?" the President had answered. "Now that I think about it, now that I think about everything that has happened and everyone I've met, I'm getting kinda sad about it. It's the peoples decision, that's final, but it makes me think I may have failed my job. I just have to remind myself that according to what I've been told, I really haven't. Maybe, you know, I was the guy to set the foundation for whose next. It's a sucky proposition for sure, but maybe that's a good thing. Maybe it was good that it was me and not someone else."

In the end, the people will decide the fate of President Franklin Johnson. I think this article is best to end on something else he said during that interview. Something that rang true for a lot of readers, I suspect.

"These are things about democracy that sometimes we all hate, you know? It's not right my guy gets kicked out! Raaa, raaa! Angry faces! Right? Right? But listen, that's the beauty of our Confederacy. It's not my choice. I can place a vote, sure! Just like everyone else! But it's not my choice. I'm not a dictator and never do I wish to be, nor do I hope any elected official ever becomes such. Melkos forbid that day. But in the end, the People decided, and that's what matters. I may not like it, but I'll respect it, and I'll hope at the very least I made a difference."

Last night the Anagonian News Network released breaking coverage of what was suspected to be possible election tampering on behalf of foreign elements. Early this morning, Director Daron McKnight of the Confederate National Bureau of Investigation gave a televised conference on the state of the investigation and the facts surrounding it. Early false reports suggested that the tampering was caused knowing by elements within the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia, but we know now that this information was completely incorrect. It turns out this situation of foreign interference in the Anagonian election goes far deeper, and far more sinister, than anyone could have anticipated.

headquarters of the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia on April 7th.
Atlantica City, State of Saratoga.

Following what appeared to be a raid on the Headquarters of the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia in the early hours of April the 7th, it became clear that the raid was simply CNBI Agents along with the Director himself conducting the investigation to gather further evidence. Preliminary reports suggested that those present in the Headquarters were cooperating completely, and this was later confirmed when Director McKnight spared time for a brief interview for journalists later the in the morning. Along with brief details concerning the investigation, Director McKnight stated that, "the CNBI is conducting an investigation under the assumption of innocence on behalf of the Fascist Party", and that, '"We have captured a foreign agent who has confirmed and admitted to their part in this disturbing attempt at manipulating our democratic process".

Vice President Edmond Goff met with reporters early on April 7th as he left the Confederate White House following an overnight National Security Briefing concerning the investigation. He told reporters that, "The CNBI is a highly professional organization that is committed to the security and integrity of our great nation," and that, "I and all of my colleagues in the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia are fully cooperating with the CNBI investigation". When a reporter for the Anagonian News Networked asked whether or not he could clarify on the situation, on anything concerning a foreign element or agent, the Vice President stated that, "I am not at liberty to divulge issues of national security that is this early in the process of being clarified and investigated".

In an interview within the Press Room of the Confederate White House, President Johnson offered what information he could to the public concerning the most recent turn of disturbing events. With a representative of the Confederate National Bureau of Investigation present, President Johnson revealed that the CNBI had captured a foreign agent in the process of not only tampering with national information, but attempting to alter and steal information from within several key government buildings before being caught within the Headquarters of the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia. This is what he had to say concerning the situation.

"Late in the evening on April 6th, yesterday, agents of the CNBI were trailing whom they suspected to be a foreign element. After making multiple stops of various government facilities within Atlantica City, visibly stealing information from sensitive electronic storage devices, and tampering with one ATM to illegally distribute currency, the foreign agent proceeded to the Headquarters of the Fascist Party and attempted to conduct a financial donation. Before the transaction could complete, CNBI agents amassed and cornered the foreign agent and took them into custody where through rigorous interrogation it was discovered that the agent was attempting to infiltrate and purposefully direct the Fascist Party to work closer with National Socialist Party of Ordena. Following our required protocol to provide necessary food and water provisions wherein the interrogator departed the room briefly, the foreign agent took a hidden cyanide pill that possibly was stored in their mouth to and proceeded to commit suicide."

When questioned further about the situation, the President revealed the following.

"At this time, the CNBI is confident that documents on the person of this foreign agent and the information provided before their willful death confirms their identity and cause. They do not suspect foul play on the part of the Vice President, the Fascist Party, or any Anagonian national. At this time this situation has escalated to an international incident and we are determining the appropriate response, up to and including military and diplomatic solutions."

Lt. General Richard Bankard, Confederate States Marine Corps, and Press Liaison
from the Department of National Defense early Wednesday morning on April 7th,
participating in a brief press conference concerning the election meddling.
Press Room of the Confederate White House.
Liberty City, State of Liberty.

Lieutenant General Richard Bankard, the Press Liaison from the Department of National Defense under the direction of Chief General Elliot Armstrong, participated in the press conference early Wednesday to clarify the position of the military in these matters.

"The Confederate States Armed Forces are working diligently and with respect to the diplomatic process to work out any issues between the Greater Ordenite Reich and the Confederate States. We are actively seeking a resolution that deters the necessary use of military force, however we are prepared fully to respond to this incursion in our national affairs with military force. Chief General Armstrong has expressed his earnest hopes that the deployment of forces and assets will not be necessary during this critical and sensitive time for our Confederate Republic. He has, however, begun working in tandem with agents of the Confederate National Bureau of Investigation to follow up on any further reports of foreign agents within our national borders. At this time, the Confederate States will maintain its normal state of military readiness and continue active patrols, but we are not anticipating a full-on military response or deployment."

With such a delicate matter now on the forefront of every Confederates mind, analysts are wondering how this will impact the current election and ongoing polls. This is a critical time for our democracy and our democratic process and to be informed that foreign agents have attempted to meddle in that process is a striking blow in the confidence of the system. Yet, as seen last night and this morning, the government and military have been quick to reassure the public of their presence and active involvement in seeking a solution. It is very clear that the government under President Johnson is working fairly and quickly to provide information as soon as possible, and it is actively clear that the CNBI is continuing to pursue every avenue possible during its investigation.

Early poll results following the reveal of election meddling saw a sharp decline in the support of the Vice President and the Fascist Party, yet following the reveal that their involvement in any meddling was not suspected, much of that support has returned. One must wonder then if any prior elections have had the same type of meddling, perhaps from the same culprits, and we never knew about the extent of their involvement. Whatever the case, it's clear that President Johnson is doing all he can to keep the government on top of the situation and protect the interests of its citizens during this very sacred and critical time for our society.

Betting Markets Go Wild!
The Year 104 Anagonian Presidential Elections continue to send shockwaves across Gharsashian betting markets ...

Image
The Confederate National House, seat of the current sitting president Franklin Johnson - Liberty City, Anagonia

By Alphius Draconios (@AlDraconios)

FOSTORIA, Gharsash - The last few days have been a rollercoaster ride for gamblers across Gholgoth and in Fostoria in particular as the Year 104 Anagonian Presidential Election cycle has stolen the spotlight. It wasn't supposed to be like this, has become a common saying amongst professional gamblers in the Galleria who have seen their fortunes wax and wane repeatedly. Prior to the voting period the Year 104 elections were regarded as a sideshow to the growing crisis in Scandivan, the recent clashes in Vetalia, and tensions building in Pax Gothica. Legislative results last year showed the incumbent President Franklin Johnson would likely be embattled but still safe as a top contender. As of the writing of this article President Johnson is currently tied with three other candidates: Canisilus, Goff, and Hicks; with Octavia Morillo still a serious contender. Odds prior to the voting period showed Johnson up slightly, owing to the momentum a sitting politician, but also tended to favor Canisilus and Goff equally. In contrast, very few put any faith in the dark horse candidate Gary Hicks who is now poised to pull off a potential victory. Such an upset could leave the select few who played those odds as millionaires.

Early voting showed exactly what the markets predicted, a close and continuous race between Canisilus (Libertarian) and Johnson (Confederate National). The sudden surge in rural votes propelled Goff (Fascist) up in the polls ahead of Johnson and Canisilus. Edmond Goff, currently Vice President, has based his campaign on the distrust rural voters have towards Canisilus due to his reptilian heritage. The race stayed between Cansilus and Goff for several hours before Octavia Morillo (Socialist) made a leap in the polls due to likely youth votes coming in late (as always). From that point it swung back and forth -- evidence of foreign interference in favor of Goff, the inflammatory statements by Morillo, and seeming resignation of Johnson of the outcome continued to keep the markets on the edge of their seats. Adding gasoline to fire was the Lord Emperor of Imperius, Darius, throwing his full support by Gary Hicks. Given Darius' popular support this seems to have spurred to people of Imperius to the polling stations and within hours Hicks was nearly tied with the rest.

Nobody has a clue what is going to happen now.

While political upheaval is hardly unknown in Gholgoth these events have spurred speculation about the stability in the rest of the region. The Confederate States has often been seen as a island of relative stability in the roiling tide of the Post-Dreadfire era and President Johnson has been remarkably restrained for a Gothic Lord. It is no secret that discontent has been growing across the region and was exacerbated by the actions of Dreadfire II which saw the ancient alliance sundered and the legitimacy of the Council of Lords put into question. This wave has been acutely felt in Gharsash as well as the endless riots in Euphantonia have reached a fever pitch with dozens reported dead everyday, the Sacradotium Schism in Engardia flaming up, and our own elections poised to sweep away the old radicals with a fresh wave of even more fanatical fringe elements to the Citizen's Assembly.

No matter who wins there is bound to be fallout in Liberty City and beyond, as none of the candidates will have a strong majority. This has led to rampant speculation of possible coalitions that might arise depending who clenches the narrow win. It is plausible to see any number of pairings that just days ago would've seemed wildly impossible -- up to and including a Goff/Morillo (or vis versa) coalition. Internationally, there has been speculation as to the future of Anagonia and its commitments to the Gothic Alliance. Under President Johnson the Confederate States have maintained their vigilant patrol of northwestern Gothic waters and remained a stalwart opponent of Kravenic expansionism. With the possible except of Goff (in light of recent allegations), all other candidates seem likely to continue his foreign policy. The Gothic Council itself has remained completely silent on the matter as it their customs regarding internal political disputes.

While the Basilissa remains silent on the matter, there has been rumors that the Armathaine Palace is closely following the situation in Anagonia. It is impossible to know which of the candidates that the High Lords would prefer to win, but those same rumors increasingly hint that Goff and Morillo are the least favored. Historically there has been little cooperation between Liberty City and Fostoria due to political differences and geographical distance.

OLNVALE CHRONICLE
The Grand Republics oldest news source, now fully digital

After my successful interview with Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus - a native of the Grand Republic of Orgath - went viral, I found myself in the unique position to interview the current sitting President, Franklin Johnson - a native of the Sovereign Republic of Liberty. I sent out an invitation late in the evening on April 6th only to discover the heartbreaking news as it began to unfold early in the morning of the 7th. I suspected my invitation would not be capable of being answered, but to my surprise President Johnson responded. Through a short period of personal and quiet celebration at my good fortune, I was happy to set the interview up for the evening of April the 7th.

To my surprise, the President did not come alone. Grand Senator Canisilus was with him, standing taller than the President by a good few feet but surprisingly not imposing himself despite his advantage. When In first saw them they were flanked by heavy security in the form of Confederate Military Police, undoubtedly for the protection of our current President as of this publication. I also noticed a third individual tagging along in the center of the protective circle; Auristi Canisilus, mate to Mileethus, with a beautiful soft brown coloration of scaly skin that contrasted with Mileethus visible green colored scaly skin. I watched as Mileethus leaned down to touch snouts with his mate before the two parted, watching Auristi and Franklin exchange what apparently was a very friendly wave with one another. If I wasn't mistaken, I believed by this display that the three were well acquainted.

A few of the Military Policeman stayed outside to guard building housing the Olnvale Chronicle, located on West Brown Street in downtown Olnvale. The remainders went inside, going about securing the interior as I exchanged pleasant and surprised introductions with the President and Grand Senator. We exchanged remarks concerning Mileethus' last visit here and I watched as the Grand Senator gave assurances to the President that the idea of him coming here was indeed a good one. I suspect the Grand Senator was pleased by his last interview and perhaps this impression played a part in the President accepting my invitation. James Ritchchild, whom regular readers may know from our articles on Agricultural Daily and Big Game Weekly, was again the manager on duty this night and once again gave me permission to go forward with the interview once we were ready.

We made our way to a larger interview booth prepared for Franklins visit at the Olnvale Chronicle. I found that, through appearances, the Grand Senator made himself comfortable just as easily as he had done before. The interview began on Wednesday, at 1958 hours on April the 7th. We had just concluded a polite conversation on the weather before I pressed the record button.

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Grand Senator Canisilus! It's a pleasant surprise to see you here again. I see you towed along President Johnson for this interview tonight?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Pleasure is all mine again, Ms. Wilkinson. And please, once more just Mr. Canisilus. No need for formalities. But yes, I think I did play a small part in our Presidents decision."

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"Just Franklin, please. I was assured by Mr. Mile here this would be quite informal."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Yes, yes, of course! We try to make things really relaxed for those we interview. Mr. Cansilius just surprised us last time. And, may I ask... Mr. Mile?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
*audibly snorts holding back laughter*

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"Yeah, that uh, kinda just created itself. I can't really pronounce his name right so we settled on 'Mr. Mile' for now."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Interesting. Does Mr. Canislus have any nicknames for you?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"He's got it easy. Just Frank. I got the hard name, apparently."

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"Hah! I'll get it one day, I swear."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Before we start the interview questions, I do have a rather unscripted one. I see you two are rather friendly with one another. I've heard rumors this could be true bu-"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"I think it's safe to say right now that yes, we've both agreed to support one another in the election. Don't you think, Mr. Mile?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. And to be clear! To be clear we don't mean any disrespect to any standing agreements. Situations have developed that have put a different perspective on things, and this isn't news to folks in the know either. We just feel this is then place to let it out at."

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"That's right, yeah. My Vice President stated he may be retiring after this election regardless of outcome and that kinda set my perspective on other potential running mates. I think Mr. Mile and I have a natural agreement on a lot of perspectives. A lot of things we both want to see improved to. I think it'll be a perfect choice."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Right, that's amazing! Thank you for allowing us to break this extremely new news for the scene. Did you decide who would be top runner or is this a Tiberius Traditional?"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"Tiberius traditional, yeah. Whomever wins gets President and through the agreement, whomever doesn't gets Vice President."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you both for sharing that. So I'll get started on the questions, we have five of them tonight. The first is the most obvious and apparent. What do you think of this news of election fraud? Mr. Canisilus, can I have your opinion first?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Yeah, absolutely. So we were rather struck blind by the allegations as they came fresh out of the CNBI. The way the ANN put it made it seem like the Fascist Party had been in on something all along, completely unfair to them and Vice President Goff in my opinion. Hurt in the polls too, but we saw how that turned out today. Voter opinion is completely split right now, extremely fragile, and I think the only thing that stabilized it was Frank here and his timely execution of his office powers."

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"Yeah it uh.....it uh.....caught us by surprise too. Very much so. Director McKnight wasn't even sure who the agent was, if they were even an agent, so nothing was alerted to us at the top. When it was laid out it was a total surprise. I at first confronted the Vice President over the phone, recalled him to the Confederate National House. We had a long talk then. Very long talk. I believe his innocence one-hundred percent, and I didn't expect him to take the direction he did."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"A follow-up question, Mr. President. After your discussion did he state he would still retire if elected? Vice President Goff, I mean."

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"No, no, no! If he's elected I know he'll fulfill that duty. I think what he meant is if he loses. He asked me not to pick him for VP, and we kinda both agreed we needed to pick other running-mates after our discussion. It was very heated, very.....very personal. We're still professionally acquainted but I believe that as far as our friendship is... Well, I'll just state it's under its heaviest test right now."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"I'm sorry to hear that Mr. Pres-"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"Franklin, please. Just Franklin. Mr. Franklin is fine too."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"My apologies Mr. Franklin. Like I was saying, I'm sorry to hear that. Has your confidence eroded at all in the Vice Presidents abilities?"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"No, absolutely not. I still have the utmost confidence in my Vice President and his abilities. I admit when this situation developed I may have jumped the gun a bit, but that is my fault to deal with. Mr. Goff deserves my utmost respects and I shall give him that."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you, Mr. Franklin. Mr. Canisilus I'll leave this second question for you. Do you think that we will be seeing the Supreme Court standing in to institute another runoff election?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Yeah, I think that's something Frank and I considered heavily in our initial discussions and talks. If Frank or I wins, there needs to be a strong force of cooperation in the government and we're the two largest parties to do it. That is if the Supreme Court allows the election to proceed. I'd say if not state challenges the results, we're good, and so far none has. Though it's still early in the polling period. We're entering the initial counting phase, aren't we Frank?"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"Yep. Most states are counting now, I've heard the word."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Yeah, thank you Frank. Yeah, so, if the Supreme Court of the Confederacy wants to challenge the process they have to do it soon. Either now or after the election is concluded, but that brings up an entirely new set of complications. So it has to be very soon or now."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you, Mr. Canisilus. Mr. Franklin, this third question is for you. Do you see recent events, particularly your admitted private dispute with the Vice President, eroding the support of the Fascist Party and its voter base for your party?"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"That's a difficult question, Ms. Wilkinson. Really is. What Mr. Goff and I had was private, especially so, but I know that his party will hear about it. The thing is after what's transpired, the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia will have more than the Confederate National Party to deal with. They've had a blow to their political credits. Not actual credits mind you, reputation points. And they accumulated a crapton over the last decade, hard earned and hard fought, all but gone overnight. Just the knowledge that they dealt with a foreign element puts their image in jeopardy. So they're not only dealing with us, but every other party. And their voter base, which by now will have filed protests if they find distrust in their representatives."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Holy Molly I didn't even think about that! Wow..."

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"That's right. We are all, each and every politician, on the same approval pay scale. This isn't a standard representative democracy. We're paid according to how we do, and even my Office of the Presidency is subject to that in some way or another. So if their voter base finds a lack of trust, we're going to see an early election for many of the Fascist Party members. If that happens, their voter base could elect different political members and it could potentially diminish or destroy the Fascist Party all together. That's not something I want or am hoping for. I don't think any of us want that, right?"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Not that I'm aware of, not even for myself, no. The Libertarian Party might not like the Fascist Party, but we get things done real fast with their help. If they go away it'll be a total blow to the political system we have going."

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"That's the key point, Mr. Miles! It'll be like it was when President Darrell Farmer left office in 70 AUR. We had two other additional political parties back then, both destroyed due to the allegations placed on Darrell's own party. They literally tried to buy out the government and election and it backfired, almost destroyed our society, our government, way of life, everything."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Yeah I remember reading up on that part of his Presidency. President Cunningham had a lot of things to fix."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"Thank you, Mr. Franklin. Mr. Canisilus, this fourth question is for you. Compared to five years ago under President Clifton Rosales, how do you think President Johnson has improved or harmed the country?"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
*chuckles audibly* "Don't mind me, Miles. I'm not here for this one. Answer honestly. I like brutal answers."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Alright Frank, you asked for it! Right....right so, as I recall President Rosales was completely inept. I think we all agree on that one. She was the Socialist Party candidate and won due to a runoff vote. In the beginning she ran strong, but her programs taxed the system and everything she did was completely useless, especially for my people and minorities. The Socialist Party is still recovering from that blunder. But Franklin? Yeah, he's done alright I think. He recovered from and continued the progress that President Owen Fleming had worked diligently to maintain after taking the reigns from President Valentine Shields who in turn as maintaining the progress from President Von Huey Cunningham, who started the entire progressive leap forward. I think President Johnson, I think Frank, is the natural and literal incarnation of that progressive line. He's continued that progress and enhanced it by leaps and bounds, and I'm not just saying this because he's right here!"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
*laughs audibly* "I said I wasn't here, dangit!"

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"Whatever, Frank! But seriously, I think he's been one of the best Presidents the Confederacy was gifted with. I really think so. I know a lot, a lot of Komodren and other non-human races who have had so many opportunities opened for them because of his policies. A lot of minorities too. We needed someone desparately to continue that great progressive leap forward and President Johnson has done that. I hope we continue that legacy of President Cunningham for the foreseeable future."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"That was very thoughtful, Mr. Canisilus. Mr. Franklin, this last question is for you. If you're reelected, what are your next steps?"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"I think Mr. Miles nailed exactly what I've been trying to do, on top of improving our economy, infrastructure, and everything else. My idea of a leader, especially of this Confederacy, has been to permit our sovereign member-states to decide their future for themselves while honoring their agreements within the Confederacy. Member-state contributions to the Confederal Government have gone up eighty-percent because of that and our Confederal entity has been able to do forty-times more improvement work over these last five years than in the last fifteen years, part of that because of President Rosales but I digress. The point is I will continue what I've been doing, improving the vision and ideal of our Confederacy to better our society. And I plan on doing that with Mr. Miles by my side these next five years, if elected. I think his vision of our future is entirely necessary to add to mine and I'd be a fool to ignore that."

Ashley Wilkinson - Olnvale Chronicle. JPC
"That was extremely thoughtful, Mr. Franklin. Thank you. And thank you both for coming, I know our time is almost up."

Mileethus Canisilus - Grand Senator, Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate
"You're welcome, Ms. Wilkinson! Very happy to be back!"

Franklin Johnson - President of the Confederate States, Confederate National Party Presidential Candidate
"You're very welcome, Ms. Wilkinson, thank you for the invitation. Don't hesitate to ask again!"

Following the formal interview with President Johnson and Grand Senator Canisilus, we were provided a short fifteen minutes afterward to have a final private discussion. I discussed my appreciation for their honesty in the interview and I was given a plethora of compliments for my contributions in the interview. Least I should say it was my responsibility as the one conducting the interview, though still I left very flattered. They both were dressed extremely formally, again myself seeing the Grand Senator shoeless and with his two-piece suit. I admired also the President's two-piece blue business attire, which fit him perfectly. It was fascinating to observe the two depart together in their protected vehicle, and I remarked how lucky I was to have conducted this interview.

Mr. President, Mr. Grand Senator, it would be my extreme pleasure to host you both again in the future. Best of luck to your campaign.

The secessionist movement in the West Islands has been steadily growing in popularity over the last sixteen years, starting with the movements introduction by West Island Secessionist Party Leader - also recognized as WISP - Tory Emerson in 89 AUR. Election after election saw the initial vote for secession from the Commonwealth of Lexington, the member-state of the Confederate States that holds traditional claim to the West Islands, fail with a steadily increasing minority vote. It wasn't until five years ago, during the election that saw President Johnson take office, that the vote for secession passed. Yet the Commonwealth of Lexington refused to recognize the vote, even going so far as to having the High Court of the Commonwealth rule against the democratically approved act of secession. WISP was quick to petition the Supreme Court of the Confederacy for their take on the vote.

Following several injunctions and protests on behalf of the Commonwealth of Lexington, the Supreme Court of the Confederacy finally saw the case at the beginning of last week. Arguments were intense as the seven Chief Judges heard cases for and against the recognition of the West Island secessionist vote, as well as Constitutional Lawyers giving their take on the rights of the Commonwealth and the limit of authority the Confederacy had. Yet it was Chief Judge Stewart Thornton, elected Chief Judge to the Supreme Court of the Confederacy from the Commonwealth of Lexington, that put the nail in the coffin for the arguments against recognizing the secessionist vote.

and their vote of secession on Wednesday, April 7th.

"I find myself in a very hard position, both as a citizen of my Commonwealth and as a citizen of the Confederate States, as I have reviewed all evidence in this, the Case C055342, as presented to the Supreme Court on Thursday, April 1st, 105 After United Republic. Yet in this position I am not so nieve as to ignore the consequences of our actions as the Supreme Court to ignore the will of the people, upon which such a vote was instituted by the people, for the people, and for the betterment of the peoples future. It is therefore in this position that, according to the Constitution of the Confederate States under Section One - Rights and Laws, this vote was conducted legally and with full authority by the people and in the best interest of the people. I hereby vote in favor of recognizing the vote of the West Islands secession from the Commonwealth of Lexington into a formal Territory of the Confederate States."

Not long after his final verdict was delivered, the six other Chief Judges fell in line behind Chief Judge Thornton with a passing vote of 7 for and 0 against, turning the West Islands into the second formally recognized governed Territory of the Confederate States. Celebrations erupted across the West Islands following the announcement, with crowds all across the four islands forming in the bright afternoon day. Even some of the active-duty military personnel dotting the islands many military installations joined in the festivities, with a few Confederate naval vessels joining in on the growing festivities in the harbors across the island chain. Most notable of these was the Iowa-class Battleships, CSS Saratoga, briefly seen diverting course to join a parade before setting out thirty minutes later into open ocean.

With festivities still ongoing, it was easy for one to miss the important stepping stones of the new Territory as it began to formally govern itself under the supervision of the Confederate States Government. Territory Governor Jordan Cabrera was quick to assembled the first formal congress of the young Territory on Thursday morning following the successful recognition of West Islands independent status, whereupon he discussed the key issues moving forward for the Territory on their ultimate objective of becoming a member-state. Most pressing of all was how best to regulate the multi-island economy following the inevitable cut-off of support from the Commonwealth of Lexington. Many solutions were presented by most of the islands attending congressional members and, according to early reports, the outlook for the multi-island economy seems optimistic.

President Johnson gave a brief remark on Thursday following the formalization of secession for the Territory of the West Islands. "It brings me great pleasure to hear that the internal dispute between the Commonwealth of Lexington and the newly recognized Territory of West Islands has come to a peaceful solution. This once again proves that we are a mature, organized and governed society. We placed our faith in the Supreme Court of the Confederacy and they took in all considerations. Ultimately they believed the peoples voice outweighed that of a governing bodies. I am pleased to hear of the Commonwealth's acceptance of this decision, and I look forward to working with Territory Governor Cabrera as we as a nation move forward together."

How this new event will impact the ongoing election is unclear as of yet. Polls already showed a strong tie between all of the candidates, with much of that tie being slowly lost as the overnight hours of the 7th transitioned into the early morning of the 8th. As of this publication, both Grand Senator Gary Hicks and President Franklin Johnson maintain a steady tie with 17% of the national vote. Vice President Edmond Goff moves forward slightly with a 19% turnout for his bid for Presidency. Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus, the original underdog of the Campaign, continues to plow forward with 23% of the national vote. Grand Senator Octavia Morillo, continuing to surprise analysts despite her extremist stance, manages to take the lead in the polls just barely over Grand Senator Canisilus with 25% of the national vote.

Chief Governor William Evans has announced this evening that the Grand Republic of Orgath has finalized and tallied its votes. In an announcement broadcast over national television, the Chief Governor spoke about the intense election season thus far and the perspective the Grand Republic has had on it. The Chief Governor elaborated that while the Grand Republic had full confidence in the abilities of the Confederate States to solve all the pressing issues that have arose this election season, he did elaborate on the skepticism his administration had on the legitimacy of other candidates following the reveal of election tampering by the CNBI earlier this week.

"The Grand Republic continues to have full confidence in the capabilities of the Confederate Government to serve the interest of its people", the Chief Governor elaborate on Thursday, "While we are aware and concerned of the evidence of election tampering, we are confident that the truth of the peoples voice will be heard."

The Chief Governor concluded his address by stating the percentages of votes by the Grand Republic and the majority tally.

"The People of the Grand Republic of Orgath have spoken clearly and bluntly. The majority percentage of votes, tallied from all votes which are all equally sacred and important, have concluded the governments decision of the Grand Republic to place our one vote as a member-state for Presidency of Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus."

The Grand Republic of Orgath is the first member-state of the Confederacy to announce its final pick. Analysts have stated that this early announcement should not come as a surprise, but rather as an expected preliminary. The Grand Republic has traditionally always been the first member-state to finalize its tally of votes and announce its picks. Only during the election seasons of 30 AUR and 75 AUR did the Grand Republic end up being sixth and fifth respectively.

In response to the announcement of the Grand Republics pick, Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus had a short remark to give to the press.

"I am extremely pleased to hear that the state of my birth has voted for my Presidency with a high majority. I promise to do my utmost to honor this sacred decision on behalf of the people of Orgath and to uphold their trust in me."

The remainder of the member-states of the Confederacy are expected to announce their final picks within the next day, with polls expected to fully close sometime in the afternoon of Friday the 9th. It is unclear yet who may still win the race for the Presidency. The polls have fluctuated wildly over the last 48 hours, making it extremely difficult to predict whether Grand Senator Octavia Morillo will pull out a surprise win for the Presidency or if Grand Senator Canisilus will maintain his lead over his competitors. Rumor has also been circulating of a possible Supreme Court injunction in the works, mainly due to the recent revelation of election tampering revealed by the Confederate National Bureau of Investigation earlier in the week. The rumors state that the Supreme Court is closely watching the election as it winds down to a close.

Grand Senator Gary Hicks is was seen late Thursday evening at his campaign headquarters digesting the news that came across the screen of his all but hopeless Campaign Bid for the Presidency. Despite the Lord Emperor's assurances of support not but a few days ago, the significant jump in the Grand Senators poll position was not enough to solidify his lead in the Empires poll count. In an extremely unfortunate turn of events - or fortunate depending on your perspective - Lord Emperor Darius Imperius announced late Thursday Night the Empires pick for for future President of the Confederate States. It was not what was generally expected this late in the presidential race.

"It is with both a heavy heart to the commitment of our words to our son, Grand Senator Gary Hicks, and an equally jovial heart to the decision of our people in the Empire," the Lord Emperor stated as the rain began to fall heavily during his words, "that I therefore announce to you the final choice of the Empire for President of the Confederate States. After an extensive count and recount, the Imperial Empire of Imperius has chosen Vice President Edmond Goff as our best choice for President and representative of the interests of the people of Imperius."

The Lord Emperor would go on to give a brief interview on the state of affairs with the Empire. He was asked if his previous promises to Grand Senator Hicks remained true, to which he replied, "The Imperial Court shall always remain open for his services to my Imperial person".

Vice President Goff gave a brief response to the news of the vote later in the evening following confirmation of the news. "I am truly, absolutely humbled by the support of the Imperial Empire. I will seek to honor that support moving forward in the best way I can."

The polls have been fluctuating widely as the final counts within the member-states of the Confederacy started to come in Thursday evening. With what appeared to be a constant race between the Vice President and the Libertarian Candidate for President ended up with a small lead as of this publication for Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus. Analysts have been repeating their caution that the polls have yet to close and that there are millions of citizens waiting to vote. Most of these citizens missed the deadline on the National Voting Holiday and are waiting till the last second after their work hours to get their voice heard. It is from these citizens that analysts caution will come the greatest shift in positions within the polls.

President Franklin Shane Johnson will not be serving a second term, at least not this election season. Last night The Liberty Gazette gained access to his campaign headquarters inside the Confederate National Party main headquarters, where we witnessed his slow mood transformation from one of hopeful optimism to heavy disbelief. And he has every right to hold this drastic change of mood to. Polls have shown over the last five years that President Johnson has had a high, if not impossible to topple approval rating for his relaxed and moderate approach to governance. Some international sources have even proclaimed his approach as a sort of Laissez-faire method, one which has been successfully implemented without the traditional cost to reputation. Modern Historical Analysts have agreed the situation with President Johnson in the polls versus his traditionally high national approval rating are completely at odds with one another, but as one Analysts put it, "It's not to be unexpected in a democracy such as ours."

The final nail in the coffin of the Johnson Campaign for Presidency happened early in the morning of Friday, April 9th. President Columbus Hamilton of the Sovereign Republic of Liberty announced Friday morning that the final votes had been tallied and that the Sovereign Republic had its choice for the Presidency. "The Sovereign Republic, after extensive polling and a minor recount, has confirmed its vote for Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus", President Hamilton had said during a live televised announcement, "The vote was close, it was drastic, and its highly emotionally charged. In the end, we as citizens of our great Republic have conducted our democratic duty and, after a recount to ensure fairness, have decided upon our choice. The single vote of our Sovereign Republic shall therefore be applied to the Canisilus Presidency."

With a modest leave above most of his competitors, Political Analysts across the board are now predicting that Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus will win the Year 104 election for the Confederate Presidency. Most of the time during the night of April the 8th, it was witnessed by many befuddled observers how late voters were being counted on national polls. This influx of votes caused what was the most drastic shifts ever recorded in all of Anagonian history under the Confederate States, with political analysts everywhere practically paralyzed on making any solid predictions. However as the dust settled on Friday, April the 9th, it became clear that Grand Senator Canisilus had the general lead over all his competitors. The polls remain open for a few more hours on April 9th so it is entirely possible a new shift could happen, but not likely.

"This has been one of the most turbulent elections in Confederate History," Mike Justinon, Senior Political Analysts of The Liberty Gazette, remarked in an interview Friday, "It's not impossible that the polls will make a drastic shift, however typically on the night before poll closures we rarely see any drastic changes after the dust settles. Considering this has been a befuddling election, I will not entirely discount that possibility."

In whatever case, the Year 104 Elections for the Presidency of the Confederate States is now officially one for the history books. The diverse make-up of our great nation has contributed greatly to the diverse ideas presented by the Presidential Candidates. In line with that diversity, we have seen an overwhelming inclusion of youth voters this time around, most of them voting for the prior underdog of the Election, Grand Senator Canisilus. Seen as a herald of progressive change, the Grand Senator originally struggled in the polls to justify his inclusion in the Campaign. Yet it wasn't long before his calm approach to politics and patience with outcomes paid off. We have yet to see the final conclusion to this campaign, but at the very least it is anticipated that Grand Senator Canisilus will win.

And that's not necessarily a bad thing for President Johnson. Earlier in the week in a podcast interview with the OLNVALE CHRONICLE, both the Grand Senator and President made an appearance to discuss their apparently new political alliance. After the fallout of the CNBI investigation with Vice President Goff, the two apparently began discussions on a political arrangement to ensure mutual cooperation. Whether this was a cooperation to benefit both the Confederate National and Libertarian Party is unclear, but what is clear is that both appear to work together quite well. As was stated in the podcast interview by President Johnson, "...Whomever wins gets President and through the agreement, whomever doesn't gets Vice President(between us in our arrangement)". So it's very possible we as a nation may not see the last of Franklin Johnson in government and, possibly, another attempt to work into the Presidency.

Better to ask forgiveness then seek permission

The Situation Room, The Fangthane Palace
Krytopia, Kylarnatia

"Just how badly has this election been compromised?" The Caesar asked, in a tone which stressed both seriousness and a cool tinge of annoyance as she glared around the table at the twenty individual faces that made up her Imperial Security Council, few willing to meet her gaze.

"Very badly." said her Chief of Staff, Maximus Cantius Maursus. His long fingers flicked through the many loose bits of paper and files in front of him with cold precision - his steely grey eyes betraying no emotion - as he placed in front of his sovereign a report which detailed the extent of the information that the Imperium's various intelligence agencies had gathered on the state of the Anagonian Presidential Election. Usually, the Imperium monitored these affairs with indifference - popular democracy, to a Kylarnatian, was a farce - and only did so out of an abundance of caution. That caution seemed to have paid dividends when it became apparent that - in the space of only a week - supposed voter intentions in the Confederate States had twisted into a knot so elaborate that even the Gordian's would be impressed. If anything, it was this exact scenario that proved the Kylarnatians right in their distrust of placing sovereignty in 'the people'.

Silvier scanned the information placed in front of her for a fraction of a second. "And we let it get this bad, because?" She asked to Maursus, the stress on her last word indicating clearly that no excuse would be satisfactory to her. Everyone shifted in their seats a little, save for Maursus himself, who looked at her with an expression that aligned with hers. But that's because he knew that the question wasn't actually directed at him at all; that shame rested on the shoulders of Flavonia Thrasea, Director of Imperial Intelligence, whose body language made it very clear she wished she was out of sight and out of mind at this very moment. Slowly, Caesar turned to face her, the her fiery glare blazing with the intensity of Helios. Thrasea could feel her skin trembling as, while she did not dare look, she could tell the eyes of her sovereign were upon her.

"We...we dropped the ball, my Caesar." She finally managed to summon from her voice after a second which felt like an eternity. Her voice was clearly trembling, and it almost sounded as if she might burst into tears. A long silence followed, Caesar not letting up in the intensity of her own stare.

"Pick it up again. Would you please?"

Her tone was slightly softer now, though that was almost the more threatening thing. She tilted her head upward - as if she were looking down on Thrasea - as the embarrassed Director of Imperial Intelligence let out a heavy breath, managing barely a nod as she shrunk as far as she could back into her seat. Everyone else tried as carefully as they could to survey the rest of the room without giving any indication they were doing so, to varying degrees of success. Once the tension had finally diffused, Silvier brought the matter back to the issue they were now forced to deal with.

"So we're certain that Vice-President Goff has been receiving outside help from the Ordenites, as per the reports of the Confederate National Bureau of Investigation?" She asked the room. The mention of the CNBI came across with a certain familiarity to the name, due to the fact of how her own grandfather - then just the retired Dux Imperator Georgius Silvanus - had been a key international player in its establishment some decades prior. It was something of a matter of pride then to Silvier, that something as bad as this could be allowed to happen. The room gave her a general confirmation to her question.

In ordinary circumstances, Vice-President Goff would be of little concern to the Imperium and her security, even if he had been receiving outside interference. But these were not ordinary times: Southern Gholgoth was a fragile front against the ever-pervasive machinations of the Reich - the real power behind the likes of the Ordenites and others in the region - and even the slightest tip in their favour could throw the whole region into disarray. As far as Caesar and thus the Imperium was concerned, Goff was reckless and an easy pawn for them to exploit. Even allowing him to remain Vice-President was too much of a risk, especially after this evidence of collusion with the Ordenites had come to light.

She thought on it for a moment. "Are we able to repair the damage?"

"Are you suggesting--" Maursus began to ask with an arched eyebrow and tinge of surprise, but was quickly silenced by a raising of Caesar's hand.

"Corrective measures, Maximus. For the security of the region." She corrected him almost preemptively. "Can we do it?"

There was a brief moment of deliberation amongst those assembled. Thrasea, seemingly leaping at the opportunity, re-emerged from whatever dark pit her mind had taken her to and declared almost triumphantly, "Imperial Intelligence has the means and the ability, my Caesar!" The rest of the room looked stunned by her outburst, but Caesar pulled a smile. Maursus had to stop himself from chuckling; just when he thought he'd seen all her tricks, she seemingly came out with more. He was glad he was the right-hand, and not further down the ladder.

"Then see it done." Caesar declared, "For the integrity of the Confederate States and of Gholgoth, we shall attempt to correct the tampering rought by Goff and his associates. That is our mission; no more, no less. We shall see the Anagonians preferred candidate win, and in future we shall ensure this never happens again."

"Your will be done, my Caesar!" The room declared, Thrasea's voice audibly the loudest. Silvier stood up and already made her way to leave, everyone else standing to attention as she did so, though her Chief of Staff was quick to follow close behind.

"No word to the CNBI, then?" He questioned once they were out of earshot.

"Better to ask forgiveness then seek permission." Silvier responded rather matter-of-factly.

The national polls have closed as of 1353 Hours Anagonian Standard Time on Friday, April 9th, 105 AUR, for the 104 Presidential Election. Last minute results are still coming into member-state polls creating an influx of difficultly for states depending on manual counting. Early results were received from the Grand Republic of Orgath and the Imperial Empire of Imperius, both member-states of which utilize electronic counting to verify their results. As one of the member-states that utilizes a combination of manual counting and electronic, the Commonwealth of Saratoga has officially announced just before the closing of national polls its final tally and result for its vote on who it should pick for the Presidency,

"It is my honor to announce that after an extensive recount of our votes, we have decided who shall recieve our member-state vote" Chancellor Richards had started to say just outside the Commonwealth Parliament. "We have decided, all as citizens of the Commonwealth, following a tight and extremely contested polling, that our vote should go to President Franklin Shane Johnson"

The news came as a surprise to the current President of the Confederate States, whom had all but given up hope that he would receive any votes from the member-states during this election.

"I am deeply honored to have received this trust from the Commonwealth of Saratoga and sincerely hope I shall live up to its expectations," President Johnson had replied before the national polls officially closed.

President Johnson had every right to take in optimism with the Commonwealth's vote. The polls had dramatically shifted a final time during the last hour leading up to the close of national polling, revealing that President Johnson was figuratively one point behind Libertarian Candidate for President, Grand Senator Canisilus. However, unfortunately for the President, his hopeful lead was not to be. At the time of polls closing, the one-point difference remained the same in national polling and at least under the popular vote the Grand Senator from Orgath was declared the winner. Now the nation sits and waits for the final tally of its states to confirm national polls, to see where the member-states vote, and to hope that a clear and decisive pick for President is chosen this day.

Analysts and Officials expect that the final results of the remaining member-states, who don't fully utilize electronic counting, will conclude as the day progresses with perhaps an expected wait well into the evening.

Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus has officially received the vote of the Commonwealth of Lexington, according to Prime Minister Jeet Vaknis today as he announced the polling results in Fort Rufall. "We have taken careful consideration of the delicate nature of this election into account and conducted a recount to ensure validity," Prime Minister Vaknis explained in his announcement to the national press. "After this careful consideration, the votes tallied in a majority in favor of Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus. That is, therefore, whom by law our Commonwealth shall vote for in this Presidential election."

The Grand Senator responded to the good news for his campaign with positive feedback concerning the results and promises to uphold his end of the trust placed in him. As the votes from the member-states continue to be announced, Analysts have predicted that a solid win for the Grand Senator is entirely to be expected. That and along with the news that he has chosen President Franklin Johnson as his Vice Presidential pick has started wild anticipation throughout the nation. Only two member-states remain unnanounced on who their people have ultimately voted for and who the member-state shall place their vote for.

Following the announcement from the Prime Minister, Vice President Edmond Goff announced that he would be petitioning the Supreme Court of the Confederacy to officially intervene in the election. In a surprise press announcement one hour after the Commonwealths announcement for their pick for President, the Vice President attracted a huge crowd of supporters nearby the Headquarters for the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia in Liberty City.

the announced results and what he calls "unfair bias" following
the CNBI investigation.

"The Confederate National Bureau of Investigation are clearly implicated in an attempt to thwart my attempt at the Presidency!" the Vice President said with vigor during his speech in Lakeman Field, close to the Fascist Party Headquarters in Liberty City. "Ever since that announcement, these results have manipulated up and down by parties unknown! Why hasn't the CNBI investigated that?! I'll tell you why! They didn't want me President!"

The roaringly defensive proclamation comes as a surprise to most of the Candidates and Analysts following what was assumed to be placation on the part of the Fascist Party in the aftermath of the CNBI election meddling investigation, which is still ongoing as of this publication. There was no official response from either the Supreme Court of the Confederacy or fellow Presidential Candidates, yet early rumors suggest that President Franklin Johnson could be "extremely displeased". Poll numbers showing satisfaction with the Vice President briefly raised following his announcement, but are on a sharp decline across the board.

The political campaign for the Presidency of the Confederate States is finally concluded. Both the Confederal Republic of Plymouth and the Republic of Arkansis have announced their votes, with the Confederal Republic siding with a Canisilus Presidency and the Arkansis Republic siding with a continuation of the Johnson Presidency. The announcement comes on the heels of Vice President Goff's challenge to the Supreme Court over the election, wherein the Supreme Court announced they would not be challenging the election results.

It has been an extremely turbulent time in Anagonian Politics. With wild fluctuations in the polls leading up to the end of the race, many speculated that foreign forces were at work rigging the election. It seemed that way, from an outsiders perspective. However as polls came to a close, it was clear that the citizens of the last minute were simply making their voices heard - along with the states and their recounts.

Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus is expected to take office sometime next week, with President Johnson tidying up his station before transferring a few rooms down in the Confederate National House. While many are heartened to know that their beloved President will remain in some fashion in the Office of the Presidency - even as the future Vice President - others feel that maybe a second term for President Johnson could have produced far more greatness than he worked so hard building on his first term.

Yesterday, Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus became the 17th President of the Confederate States. The swearing in took place in front of the Supreme Courthouse here in Liberty City. With over one-thousand attending, and with the Confederate Military Police providing crowd control and supervision, the Grand Senator took the oath of office as he laid his right hand on the Holy Necronomicon and took the oath of office.

"I, Mileethus Canisilus, do solemnly swear on behalf of Melkos Unchanos, that I shall to my utmost ability work to preserve, protect and hold sacred the Constitution of the Confederate States and to preserve, protect and hold sacred the rights and liberties of the citizens under my charge. I do solemnly swear to uphold the traditions and protections provided in the Articles of the Armed Forces of the Confederacy, and that should the military find my judgement in error that I shall with utmost haste correct the mistakes that jeopardize the integrity of the Confederate States. I do solemnly swear that I shall faithfully execute the office of the Presidency of the Confederate States to serve and protect the integrity of its member-states and defend the rights of all citizens of Anagonia."

Vice President Franklin Johnson was also in attendance, whom just days prior was the 16th President of the Confederate States. Despite the intense political drama surrounding the Year 104 Presidential Elections it appears that Franklin's determination to continue to serve his nation is as strong as ever. As the 17th Vice President of the Confederacy, he brings to the Canisilus Presidency a wealth of knowledge acquired from his previous Five Year term in office. Analysts have stated that it was a brilliant political move on the part of President Canisilus to acquire Vice President Johnson due his experience and political good will. The Vice President took his own oath of office shortly after that of President Canisilus.

The new 17th President of the Confederate States is expected to address the first session of the Greand Congress of the Confederacy under his Presidency this afternoon. With a slight majority lead for Libertarians in both the Grand House and Grand Senate, it is unknown how the coalition make-up of the Anagonian political scene will turn out. Analysts anticipate that due to the political marriage of both Franklin as Vice President and Mileethus as President, the Libertarian and Confederate National Party's are expected to form a sort of working relationship. Since nothing has been formally announced, however, all of this is pure speculation.
