Paleness naturaly occurs if you don't spend a large ammount of time in the sun, and why would a Cortexisian do that? What is there to do outside? We have spent millenia improving the inside, abandoning it just seems so impractical.
The same applies to being thin, but not muscular. Large muscles are seen as something outright primal. On the other hand, being overweight shows you cannot elevate yourself above simple hedonism towards more complex goals and ideals.

Of course, these are completely meaningless. Nobody is going to treat you any worse because you look different from this ideal. Merit is all that matters. Still, many people attempt to get close to this ideal, but not so much to drastically change their life.

A handsome/beautiful Decepticon will invariably have certain traits. Just like many biological beauty standards are actually markers of good health, Decepticon beauty standards are focused on things that indicate a perfectly-functioning, strong body.

The first thing we look for is the most obvious: the paint job. It should be flawless unless directly coming back from a battle. It should also be shining due to several coats of deep-shine wax. Almost everyone puts on at least 2-3 coats and refreshes them as soon as they start to look a little worn. For special events, it is common to wear 10 layers of wax. For most, this is the direct equivalent of "dressing up." Of course, the rich usually like to wear 10 layers at all times.

Second, we listen for how someone sounds when he lands. To land, a Decepticon in plane mode will transform into robot mode while still in the air, and then drop out of the sky for an on-his-feet landing. This should make a strong, characteristic "CLUNK" of good, thick, solid metal. Landing from higher up than usual, often done to be intimidating, should make a resounding "CLANG" that is not hollow or tinny, but instead gives the impression that the landing person carries plenty of metal mass (and by extension, will be hard to defeat). (It is sort of like the difference between the sound of a cheap, modern compact car door closing, and one from a 1950s Chevy; you can hear exactly which one is the tin can without even seeing them.) Decepticons who don't sound strong and powerful on landing are considered junk, and at best, will elicit disgust.

We aren't very much into cosmetic adornment other than the paint job itself, and even that is often a minimalistic, 2-color design. One-color paint schemes are considered plain, and most avoid them. Jewelry and other such adornments are always avoided because they can interfere with the body part clearances needed for successful transformation.

If anyone wants a purely cosmetic adornment, it will be in the form of a stripe of pure gold or a paint-like marking made of some other relatively rare substance. Gold stripes (made by actually fusing molten gold with the recipient's wings or other body parts) are also used as military award decorations. In that case, they serve the same purpose as medals. The shapes and locations of gold stripes tells whether they are awards or just civilian cosmetic choices.

We strongly prefer functional upgrades, but these can definitely be set up to show off instead of "just" performing a task. Specialized tooling, custom body parts that allow the user to better do specific things, upgraded or extra weapons, and other things like that are both useful and beautiful. For these, it is essential that they do not interfere with aerodynamics in plane mode and that they do not inhibit the ability to transform. If they clearly fail either test, the person will be looked down on instead of admired. Professionally-engineered, custom upgrade parts are so important that some of them can easily cost a million Cubes of Energon, and a few even cost more.

Full-on custom bodies, which are very obviously like no other on Cybertron, are highly admired and extremely expensive. As with the custom parts, the cost depends, in part, on the level of technology involved and how much skill was needed to engineer the finished result. However, nobody is going to buy junk if they're looking for a body like this, because that would defeat the main requirement: A perfectly-functioning body. Because of these factors, only the most wealthy and powerful have 100% custom, highly distinctive bodies. The most famous user of such a form is Leader Megatron, whose body is said to be worth somewhere between 1 billion and 10 billion Energon Cubes. He is so wealthy that he not only has one of these, but is said to have 1,000 spares (of course, the exact number of spares is actually classified information). Many, but not all, High Generals also have fully-custom bodies and at least two spares for each of them.

[It is considered absolutely crucial to have spare bodies, custom or not, because they allow their owners to mind-transfer to them and keep living even if their current bodies get destroyed. Except in dire circumstances, everyone has at least one spare, regardless of socioeconomic status, though it is common for the spare to be a fairly cheap "emergency" version instead of a full-on copy of their main one. We also have many save discs, which are saves of our mind-state at the time the disc is made. This does make it incredibly hard to kill a Decepticon and have him actually stay dead, which is the whole point.]

Traditionally a medium to deeper hue of brown (melanated) skin has been considered culturally 'appealing' falling in line with the Siuh identity, while lighter shades of brown is generally associated with people who are more traveled (for e.g Hreh immigrants). Although men are sometimes preferred with a longer face and women with rounder ones, it is generally not held to be a strict beauty standard.

Beauty standards in Tangatarehua depend very much on when you're born and what generation you're from.

If you're born after 1980 you'll probably follow similar standards to the west, dress in western clothes and be influenced by western media. The younger generation are sometimes known to eschew Ta Moko (traditional facial tattoos) and dye their hair. Some people, especially girls, like to wear blue contact lenses as blue eyes are seen as exotic and fashionable. The younger generation also tend to prize a slightly thinner body type than the older generation.

Those born after 1980 are more likely to follow traditional standards of beauty which basically means facial tattoos (whose markings demonstrate your whakapapa or family background and often give you a 'noble' vibe) while both genders tend to favour people who are, not overweight, but "have some meat on their bones". Bigger is generally considered better for both sexes.

Both generations still consider Rehuan traditional dress 'beautiful' and for women wearing a single flower in their hair is perennially popular, no matter the age.
